I have been making my own "nutella" sesame or almond butter plus maple syrup + unsweetened non-fat chocolate powder. I had no choc powder available so mixed sesame butter and maple syrup and either put it on a very light cracker or tried in as a spoonful. Not bad!
I remembered my long ago habit of miso as spread on cracker. Also good -but surely not for everyone.2 -
Happy Sunday - Levi sighting! My daughter got over her snit because I wouldn't go up there for two weeks and is sending me pics over text now. She's also called me twice. If I'd known that was going to happen, I'd have killed off my Facebook a year ago!
Love,

Sunday -- wind howling all day! Trees down not far away. Wheelie bins sliding down the hill in front of us. Car with caravan flipped on its roof on the coast. Power out in places.
We decided to stay in and not venture out into it all.
Cycled, walked and now watching the Tour de France!

Good Morning Ladies
I am up and had my tea and showered...
I have photographs from a dear man that has since passed of GB Herons as you know ,I love them and I swear my mom came back as one.. anyway ive had them with me for say the past 18 yrs and I have 2 dear friends that think the same thing about there mom and so I am bringing them the pictures..I know they will enjoy them..
It isnt to far from where i am looking at the house..im hoping my dad will be on one shoulder and mom on the other..
Faye- no the drum in it is tiny ,you could put maybe 4 sets of clothes if that,no sheets etc...
Im having second thoughts and should have maybe just gotten a regular washer and brought the clothes down to the dryer..
Oh well..2 -
Faye was here ... Running late due to setting a pompous old know it all guy, straight, on a senior site that claims Tai Chi is about building muscle and stretching and has nothing to do with the inner ear and little to do with balance. Such ignorance really ruffles my feathers.0

Well, that sourdough starter is history. I'm trying another recipe. I'll get it yet...or die trying...lol

WELL! I have caught up on reading posts! lol
Barbie- So sorry to hear of your friend's passing! But what a wonderful friendship you maintained! love and hugs to you!
Barbara- glad Joe is getting his eye taken care of! I can not imagine the kind of pain that amount of pressure would cause.
Lisa- I love hearing about your "retired" life. What kind of fencing are you putting up around your property? So many ways you could decorate the inside of a fence and make your yard feel like a "get away" rather than some place you need to get away from. lol Levi is just adorable! And your daughter; my daughter reacts the same way when we don't jump to her "call". It takes a while for our kids to realize that our worlds don't revolve around them. We have an entire life that has nothing to do with them. (((hugs))) Glad she calmed down and came around.
Michele- Give your starter some time! I have read that some starters take 4-6 weeks to be ready. Do you keep it sitting in a warm spot? I have always kept mine in a ziploc bag in the sun, and it has taken off like gangbusters.
Faye- I love that top in the photo as well. $64 does seem pricey though. I am thinking about switching to an around the neck/scarf style mask for the fall. If I can find a couple of sheer fabrics, so that the kids can see my mouth, I will have a few made with those. My chin is beginning to chafe from wearing the masks every day.
PB B,&H- Peanut butter, butter and honey! As a child, I never liked jelly/jam; so my lunch every day was peanutbutter and butter sandwiches. The butter kept the pb from sticking to the roof of my mouth. As a treat, on Saturdays, while mom and dad slept in, I would make myself toast with butter, then a "whip" of peanutbutter and honey spread on the buttered toast. I remember sitting on the floor in front of the heater (in the winter) with the blanket around me and the heater and my warm pb and honey toast beside me, watching Saturday morning cartoons.
Heather- What is this "cone and filter" coffee method you speak of? I need to look into this. I am drinking instant currently, but I really miss fresh ground coffee. However, I don't want to make a pot (because I will drink it all) and I don't want to get a Keurig or the like, bc of the cleaning of the tubes and the cost of the pods. I was thinking of taking my french press back from my daughter next time I visit her; bc they have a Keurig and she doesn't use the press...
Carol- I am thinking you are watching the version of P&P with Keira Knightly? I adore that one! The soundtrack is fantastic and I think they did a wonderful job of making it "fresh" to interest young people to the wonder of Jane Austen. I also love the BBC version with Colin Firth.
Karen VA- Oh, I totally understand your rant with insurance companies/coverage. What a pain in the *kitten*! One of those things that makes me consider living in another country.
Pip- Not sure if I have ever heard the story of how you and Kirby met. Tim and I met the same way. My friend asked me to come along to meet a guy she was interested in (Tim). A bad move on her part. I don't think I said more than two to him the entire time, but I was smitten and so was he. I walked home, told my mom I met the guy I was going to marry (I was 14) she laughed and the phone rang (it was him).
Celebrated Holiday Week with the kids this past week. A huge success! Christmas was celebrated on Friday and the kids and I had a blast making and decorating Ninjabread men and delivering them to neighbors and saying 'Happy Summer Christmas!" lol We will be doing some science stuff this week. Next week a few of the older (4 &5 yr olds) will go back to school. We will see how that goes. My niece went back to school two weeks ago, and the school shut down on Friday due to over 100 positive covid cases and over 1000 close contact students. I am holding their spots for a month, because I am pretty sure schools are going to shut down.
On the upside. Tim is spending more time with me and the daycare kiddos. The kids absolutely adore him. He "helped" with craft yesterday and was so funny (I found him wierdly funny, anyway). Craft was stringing jingle bells onto pipecleaners; then twisting them into a wreath shape. Fine motor- stringing things through small holes. Tim was challenged. He suddenly says, "they need needle nose pliers!" gets up and goes into the basement workshop to get them! lol He sat at the table widening the hole in the bell, so that the kids could string them easier. I let him do his thing. The kids thought he was wonderful for helping them and he got a "Good Boy" designation from Jackson (age 5)! The one year old, Peyton, just dotes on him! She follows him everywhere; arms raised in "pick me up" position. He always picks her up. He is such a pushover!
Well, gotta fly. I have the lawn to mow and Christmas deco to take down (yes, I left it up and watched a couple of Christmas movies this weekend. Whatever makes you feel good, right?!) I also have a bit of paperwork to do and basic house cleaning. I can't wait for winter when everything slows down and I don't have the yard to take care of. Sending love and hugs to all of you! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -
I wrote a tribute to my friend who died telling of how she encouraged me to dance and how it has changed my life and many other things about her. I sent it to the people on my email list who usually get a preview of the dance class. In response I got many stories from others who had their own loving memories of her. It made for a great exchange and a great opportunity to remember a very special person. Next week, I'll copy bits of all the letters and send them to my friend's daughter so she can hear more of how so many people loved and valued her mother.

Lanette our pastor has not one, but two, antique, functioning cider presses. We get together in the fall and press bins and bins of culls into cider. At first I was totally grossed out  by the rotten, buggy apples that went in, but after it's filtered and pasteurized the cider is the very tastiest I’ve ever had.
Faye those 40 degree temperature swings were common when we lived in Boise. Like it much better here on the coast where we can have months of 45-60 degree weather.

Margaret great advice to Allie. Surprise $$$$ assessments are one reason we avoid HOAs. Near neighbors are another

Lisa your rescued roses! What a gift to be able to bring blooms out of pitiful little sticks. Well done! Oh that Levi!
Karen in VA I hear you about the bureaucracy. I was also penalized for a non-existent gap in prescription coverage. The process back then was a letter to the agency’s ombudsman with supporting documents. It took months, but eventually the penalty was lifted and the overpayment refunded from the rx insurance company. Hang in there!
Katla a gear “kitten” You started my day with a great bellylaugh!
KJ sad to hear of all the C-19 cases at the kiddos’ schools. They are so blessed to have you to teach and care for them. Thankful for Tim’s spending more time with you and the kids. Good all the way around.
Allie I hope on your walk you can meet some of the neighbors of the new place. Maybe they have an idea why the place has sold so often.

Lisa - Levi is such a sweetie.
Allie - I hope the place is everything you want. You said it’s a manufactured home, is it in a park. We pay 750 a month for park fees, it doesn’t do anything for our specific trailer.
Kelly - I think schools will end up shut down again as well. My daughter isn’t sending our Grandson back he will do online for now. Thankfully the school district is allowing that.
My daughter is having a terrible time with her employer. I had been babysitting in the evenings 2-3 times a week so that the she could open up her availability and get more hours. I of course can’t do this now. She only works part time. Since the store has reported they wanted her to be available for full time hours and has pretty much demanded that she find alternate childcare if necessary. I sent her links to the government website that states that until Aug 2021 jobs are protected if employees can’t work due to childcare issues. I told her she needs to contact the labour board tomorrow and get advice.

Regarding Apples ... I made apple freezer jam from the apples from our trees (and some "seconds" apples from the grocery store). I found a lovely recipe - so easy and delicious!
We have a bit on waffles on the weekends.
This Coming Week ...
Work - gotta get moving on a large submission due the end of the month.
Uni - it's spring break, but I've got Assignment 2 due in the second week of September so I'm busy working on that.
Exercise - trying to keep up some exercise each day
Tour de France - that's what's on TV!

I gave u guys the real abbreviated version of how we met. No, kirby was a bicyclist back then when I met him. I used to run back in my twenties but not seriously or anything like I do now. I picked it up again after I got a bit thinner. He got me back into bicycling which I also used to commute to my job in my twenties, but that was when I lived here in Fresno which is very flat, nothing like Indiana )where I started riding again) and Washington1 -
Barbara Yes, Boise is famous for such. Friends there want me to move there, but it stays too cold for too long in the winter for me. I worked down the Snake from Farwell Bend one summer. Daytime highs of 120 degrees. Some nights at 60. I wish I could move to the southern Oregon coast, but not possible at least for now. I always wanted to get a small spot and build a lighthouse to live in.0

KJ - This is the kind of thing I have. It takes size 4 paper filters. You can make as much as you want and as strong as you like with the ground coffee you like the best.

Barbie: Your tribute to your dance friend is a wonderful gift to her daughter. I’m sure her daughter will be touched and happy when the loving memories of her mother’s friends and students are received. :flowerforyou:
Allie: Good luck with your decision. Barbara’s suggestion to ask the neighbors why the place you’re thinking of buying has been sold so often is an excellent idea. If the place passes that test, getting an expert survey on the condition of the place and any worrisome problems is a good idea. You certainly won’t want to redo the plumbing, heat, appliances, insulation or electricity.
Dr. Katie: HAPPY 45TH ANNIVERSARY!!!
Machka: Enjoy the Tour de France. The fitness club I've gone to has a stationary bike that takes you on a virtual Tour De France. I suspect you would choose to assign that to bad weather days and ride your bikes outside on nice days.
I’ve been reading romance novels. They are so much more pleasant than watching the news. Politics and pandemic are a LOT less fun than a well written story with a happily ever after conclusion.

Greetings one and all.
Hoping everyone had or is having a wonderful Sunday. It was nice having a few extra days off from work. I actually have not logged in to the system in 3 days! It’s a record this year.
Not too much craziness going on here. A few projects have been completed, nothing earth shattering. I took most of the time to rest and read which I have not done in quite some time. Lazy days of showering and then getting back into PJs.
Barbie – I love the Project Linus blanket. It’s so bright and colorful. I also love the step counter on my Samsung phone. You can also use it for many types of exercise. It’s very easy to use and I always have my phone with me so nothing else to charge/carry around. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I am happy you had a positive call with her prior to her passing.
Pip – I love the pictures of your little piece of heaven. Love the red! I also really like the medal display. It’s a nice way to display them. The medals look wonderful up on the wall!
Machka – Praying for your brother and family. I have been keeping up with the news and the struggle everyone is now feeling throughout the state of Louisiana. Glad to hear the house is standing. It may be some time before folks have electricity. It seems there was damage to the main power plant and it must be rebuilt! So sorry to hear about your tooth! Hope the dentist can move up your appointment.
Kim – Happy you were able to take some time with your granddaughter.
Heather – The picture of your cauliflower cake made my mouth water. It also reminded me I used to make Bisquick Miracle pies. My plan for tonight’s dinner is to make a broccoli onion one.
Tracey – There should be no guilt regarding not being home during your childhood. Your parents surely knew what was going on and allowed it so you would have a better life. I know you never got to say the words but your dad is certainly smiling down on you and will continue to support you during your lifetime.
Debbie – Love the pictures of all of your fur babies. They all look happy and content. Cats are a lot of fun and it’s interesting to discovery each one’s personality.
Lanette – Sorry to hear about the hornet attack! I had one in my gate a few years ago that attacked me. He stung me 4 times before I was able to kill him (he got into my shirt via the short sleeve).
Faye – Love your artwork.
Margaret – Sorry to hear your credit card was hacked. If these people would only spend their time putting their skills to good will versus subversive acts imagine the world. Big hug to you. All of us are different with how we feel and deal with losses. I remember thinking, why not just do it for me, why does everyone say, “call when you need something”. My truest friends were just there – no need for me to call, they were there and went with the flow.
Peanut Butter – In it’s purest form it is ground up peanuts (paste). 😊 Even if it’s dried and then water/oil added it’s still peanut butter. One of my favorite snacks is peanut butter and local honey. Yum. Also love peanut butter on a banana.
Lisa – Levi is adorable. He is getting so big!
KJ – Love the Tim and daycare children story. Aw, so sweet! “Good Boy” from Jackson – LOL!
Kay – Happy 45th!!
Spices – Twice a year my local grocery clears out spices. I found out it’s actually the manufacturers who request it be done. When this happens these spices go on sale (usually 50% off). I always look for things I used and/or wanted to try but are way too expensive. About three weeks ago Publix had a ton of spices on clearance and I found Oak Smoaked Peppercorns. Oh, my, delicious!!
I will end here with pictures of the outdoor orchid. The blooms are starting to open!
Hugs to all and prayers for those in need.
SuziQ – SFL

KJ I love my neck scarf/choker that doubles as a mask. I got tired of pulling it up over my ears so I made slots in the sides so when pulled it up it can stay secure without being over the back of my head and ears. For very cold days I use a long headscarf over my head, wrapped around my nose and mouth, back around my neck and tied in the front. It looks like a hijab and people I know asked why I am wearing such. I have to keep repeating it is just a headscarf and mask. I think this winter it will be more popular. The way I wrap it gives two layers over the mouth and nose which allows breathing with no glasses fogging and puts others at ease. It also keeps the neck warm. My biggest problem with masks is glasses fogging. I only wear one in stores, never outdoors unless cold and I have my mask headscarf as described above.2

ok well I am back...the reason it is being sold right now is because the woman that owns it has the startings of dementia.. the view I have to say is spectacular, there is one parking spot behind the house and a shed to put stuff in.. HOA covers ,sewer leasing of the land and snow removal... the porch area and walkway are painted and in desperate need of another paint job, there are bushes out from and ground cover on the side that I would have to take care of , it was built in 1997 and the walls are original and alot of pictures hung so there will be nail holes to fix, the bathroom has a skylight ,but really needs to be updated.. both bedrooms are nice size, not huge but not small either.. the kitchen has a gas range ,love love and a newer fridge, no dishwasher and not a ton of cabinets but enough, and the washer and dryer are not next to each other but sort of corner to corner..
now you are part of an association and you have to apply,.. asking about jobs and such.. this is where I will be in a pickle as I am working under the table unless I use alimony as income which it is... but what I was going to ask Tom is to do a full out payment of alimony rather then weekly so I could use what he gives me for the home..
I do have 401k ,but dont want to use it all for that, and then what? my place here comes with more ammenities ,the house next to the one I was looking at is about 3 feet away , an older lady with a doggy lives there, so Alfie would be barking non stop,( not that he doesnt do that here lol) only thing is there is litterally no yard so the good part would be I would have to walk Alfie all the time...
there is just so much to consider.. If I did purchase the other place, would need to have the place painted, new toilet , and possibly a new bath surround... the place power washed, there is a big honkin Central air unit that doesnt work, that I would have my nephew redo.. and probably a new washer and dryer.. thats alot to do.. and I dont want to have to fork out tons of money to do it...
sooo we shall see.4 -
Katla – when you keep your masks in the car (I do also because, like you, sometimes I just stop somewhere), where do you keep yours? Right now I have mine in my drink holder but I would like something that maybe I can hang from the headrest in the passenger seat that I can put them in. So many times I’ve gotten to the door of the store and said “oh, forgot my mask” which is why I always keep one in my pocketbook, too. I googled “why isn’t my sourdough starter rising”. Well, the recipe I was following to the letter called for 70g of water, 70g of flour, and 140g of starter. This recipe calls for 70g water, 70g flour, and 70g starter. Maybe that was my problem???? Well, I tried that at 12 and at 4 still no activity. Who knows? I searched on BRM site, and the only thing I could find about a sourdough starter was a recipe for making your own. Do they sell starter?
Sourdough starter is in the oven on proof. I’ve decided definitely that if there isn’t any activity by 9:00 (when it would have been fed), then I’m going to hang it up and try a new recipe. This is just too much.

masks I have a cell phone holder and a scent pod both that attach to the vents. I use those to hold my masks. Hand them from there so they are in my face when I get out of the car. Also have one in my purse just in case.
[sour dough starter] I started mine from scratch by boiling a potato, saving the water, mashing the potato in the water adding a bit of yeast, flour, and sugar, then a little more water to make it like a thick cream soup. Set on counter and let ferment. Worked without any beginner started. [/b]

Tracey: My favorites romances & children's books take up many of my bookshelves. I mentioned Arthur Ransome's Amazons and Swallows series a while back. Clearly aimed at children, I fell in love with them as an adult. Then there are Robyn Carr books set in a fictional town of Virgin River near the coast in northern CA, and books set in the Southern Oregon Coast near Barbara's neighborhood, also by her. Her current series is set in Colorado. Linda Lael Miller writes contemporary western books. Outlander time travel books are written by Diana Gabaldon. Argeneau Vampire romances by Lyndsay Sands are set in Canada, I'm reading one of them now. . . . I guess you could call me a readaholic. Many of the books I've mentioned have space on my bookshelves. Luckily I can get many more by favorite authors on line through Library to Go. This is provided through our local library & check-out is managed by Amazon.

Alright so i went and talked to Tom,i value his input even though we are no longer married we are still friends..
I have gone over the pros and cons of each place.. and the cons here at my current home are quite a bit less than at the other place. Though the lake view is stunning, there is to much work and money to be put into that place and i have put to much time and money into this one...so here I will stay..5 -
Allie - my accountant alarm is blinking.
You say you are working under the table and getting paid by a Trust. Who is the trustee? You might want to check on this with a tax person as you still might be on the hook for social security and income tax at some point.
The IRS has sneaky ways of finding out who is getting paid.
The location of the house you are looking at seems wonderful!
