I usually don’t add the .XX whatever to my miles, but I’m tracking exact for another challenge and when I add in the .XX my mileage is actually 75.19 those .XX really add up.
If you all could keep a good thought, prayer, whatever for Skip and her school mates, her college is in Mobile AL. Most of her school dorms were evacuated for Hurricane Sally but hers was not because it’s newer and hurricane rated. However, I know she’s getting scared and though I know she’s safe this momma’s heart is worried because I’m not there in person to tell her it’s going to be okay. We opted for her not to come home because she would have to drive through it to get back tomorrow since classes restart on Thursday. I know the school will take care of them, but it’s still hard. I told her park the car up as high as she can because they are expected 15” of rain, she has supplies and her dorm is more than half full. Her friend Harrison said if she’s scared to come stay in his room with him so I feel better about that.
@polskagirl01 I loved the video thanks!
@rheddmobile love the medal, tell hubby thanks!
@Scott6255 omg I can’t believe about your mom. Hope she’s feeling better and it was a one time thing.
Agreed, it’s horrible when your parents get old.
@juliet3455 beautiful sunset

@skippygirlsmom I will be praying for her! And you!
@rheddmobile I love that. My sister did the ancestry and 23 and me thing and it really changed her life. The people who helped along the way really made all the difference. You probably made a much bigger impact than you realize.4 -

Absolutely! I also pray that Sally fizzles out and doesn't do any major damage!
(P.S. - I count all my .XX because they really do add up!)

katharmonic wrote: »@polskagirl01 good luck with your series of HM races. I think tapering for the whole time is a good idea. I would probably just run easy and do lots of yoga and stretching in between, and not worry about any speedwork or hard workouts. But you know yourself and your race goals. (I feel like PastorVincent would have some good do as I say, not as I do advice here )
Today's speedwork was the same as last week (taper), so not too bad. Next week, I'll give myself the option to either repeat that, or bump up the intensity by going back to what I did 2 weeks ago. (I can also skip speedwork altogether because I'd count the race towards my weekly speedwork streak). There's an extra rest day in the plan compared to my normal, and easy pace for anything else I do, including cycling.
PastorVincent would go for PR's at every race. Not me! I do hope to get stronger with each one though, and if I'm not seeing that, then I'll need to back off during the week.5 -

@Tramboman I'm sure @PastorVincent was helping you along last week and showing you what you CAN do.
@juliet3455 Sorry about your injuries. I hope they heal quickly. That sunset is amazing!
@RunsOnEspresso Glad the air quality is improving. Sorry about feeling yucky and the DNF. It's the thought that counts in this one.
@kristinajeang Glad your ankle is getting better. Smart to take the time for it to heal completely.
@rheddmobile Great RAOK. I know that person was very happy and you made their day.
@skippygirlsmom I will certainly send some prayers up for Skip and her classmates. Hope everyone stays safe and calm.

praying for skip @skippygirlsmom
@quilteryoyo @kristinajeang Thanks, the hamstring is still a bit tight and does still nag. I have a race in real life! on Oct 3 (that is unless they don't get approval) which I ran last year and got a PR and placed 1st in age group. I was hoping to repeat, but may not be able to. Just completing might be the goal this time around.
Hope you ankle gets better too.
@rheddmobile got your message, will email you.
Spinning today and upper body. Run tomorrow!
Yes @PastorVincent is watching and cheering6 -
Okay, everyone who participated in the Virtual Marathon for @PastorVincent should have a message from me now with my email address so we can share photos, stories, and so on for an ebook for his wife Kristi. Please send me your random acts of kindness! Also your location so we can make a map showing all the different places people were running! And if you have a photo of yourself on your run, or a photo of where you ran, or anything else significant, please send it along. Plus any stories or thoughts you would like to include. The way my husband works on these ebooks is to start with a big pile of stuff and then trim it down until it makes sense, so don’t be shy, we want lots of material to work with.
If you don’t have a message from me, please let me know.3 -

Got it - thank you!0 -
@rheddmobile Thanks so much to you and your DH! That's a lot of work. It will probably be over the weekend before I have time to send you anything. That's not too late, is it?0
-
Took my mom to the eye doctor today. I'm so glad I did. She really has a hard time hearing people with masks on, so I was able to help out in that area.
I made some Pumpkin Spice Super Hero Muffins and Honey Granola today. They are so good. Anyway, with all that, it was 4:45 pm before I got out to run. So thankful for better running weather. It was only 79°F with 54% humidity. I just ran a really easy pace on the driveway, trying to keep my HR down. Ran 3 miles and walked 1.
Also 9/20 miles walked.

Absolutely not too late! I figure we will take a whole week getting stuff together and organizing it!1 -

@martaindale it's been beautiful running weather here too temp wise, but the humidity is crazy here in Michigan too (not sure if you had mentioned where you are from or if I missed it)
@kristinajeang I'm in Houston. I'll start calling it beautiful once we hit low 60's, but after the summer months even 70's are heaven sent!5 -

Speed work today. It's hard but I enjoy speed work. I usually feel like I won't be able to do it at some point, then when I do it makes me feel so good!! Like I really accomplished something.5 -
So, I am fully aware that I still have it pretty good in this regard. (I have family in Oregon who supplemented their in home filtration with the filter + duct tape + box fan method.... and the filter was black in less than a day.).
*However* - today’s lesson:
If you are looking at the world around you, and trying to figure out “how smoky” is “too smoky” to run.... spoiler alert, that probably means it is too smoky to run?!
These conditions did spur me to comply with this weekend’s lesson, and pre-dose with my inhaler. And I backed my interval length off.... but this run still sucked.
Also, I have a PT appointment for tomorrow, because my wonky ankle has gone wonky again at lower mileage than expected. It isn’t even the time running that bothers me, it’s the aching and clicking feeling/noise all day at work that drives me insane....
2 miles today = 10 miles / why am I starting over again?7 -

Those of you dealing with smoke - as @hanlonsk pointed out, sometimes it's obvious(!), but for other times... I use a smog tracking app here in Poland during the colder months, and am wondering if there are similar apps for your parts of the world that might help. Sometimes it helps make sense of why a particular run felt harder.
Easy almost-6k this am. I am behind on my podcasts, but listened to one from Marathon Training Academy (highly recommended for everyone in this group - even if you aren't currently training for a marathon) about a guy who kept running (and BQ'd by surprise, who does that?) through treatment for liver cancer. I have no complaints today
I probably won't run again until the race on Saturday. You're all doing great! Hugs & likes to all!
September goal 100 miles!
Upcoming races:
Sept. 12 - Lubartów HM - DONE ✅
Sept. 19 - Tomaszowski HM
Sept. 27 - Kraśnik HM
Oct. 25 - Lublin HM (no signups or announcements available yet)
Dec. 6??? - Puławy "Green Shoelaces" HM6 -
No run last night, but I did go to my Pump class. It is supposed to rain here through the weekend, so I suppose I’ll be doing some shorter treadmill or indoor track runs.
Positive thoughts to everyone dealing with the hurricane and fires right now.5 -
@hanlonsk The smoke is awful, but sure is giving us some awesome pictures. They are even saying it may be hazy here (E. TN) due to the fires. Yikes! Hope your ankle stops being wonky soon.

@polskagirl01 There are apps & websites but the problem for Phoenix is the smoke isn't affecting the air quality so they say the AQI and PM are good/moderate. It's still hazey & smokey here but it's not affecting numbers. It has something to do with where the smoke is in the ozone. But it still affects "a very small amount of people that are unusually sensitive" (I guess I'm unusually sensitive lol) 🤷🏼♀️3

Wishing all you folks dealing with fires and hurricanes the very best. Mother nature is on a tear these last few week. Hope she is on the tail end of it for a while
Thank you all for the well wishes and support for my Mom. She got out of the hospital Monday afternoon. She is feeling mostly normal (for her). The only thing she is still complaining about is her head feels like it weighs 50lbs. But she is up and getting around OK. She promised not to drive for a few days, but I'll believe that when it happens.
10K this morning. Another hot, super humid morning. So ready for this weather to break.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Skip and her school mates. Thanks to a last minute little turn to the East for Sally she came thisclose to them on the East side so that helps with impact. She said the wind and rain is crazy unbelievable but that is it. She said lots of branches and leaves down, but nothing big she can see from her window. I have seen pictures of quite a bit of damage in Mobile so hopefully the campus was spared anything big. She plans to go out and walk around and see what’s happening.
@quilteryoyo I feel bad for your mom, it’s hard enough to hear for some people then the masks make it impossible.
@hanlonsk that picture is crazy, hopefully things will get better soon. These fires are horrible. Hope it’s nothing to worry about with the ankle
@polskagirl01 that’s interesting about the smog tracking app, never heard of such a thing.
@Scott6255 glad mom is home.

I’m going to look that podcast up @polskagirl01. Thanks for the tip.
Glad you’re mom is on the mend @Scott6255 and that the girl is doing good @Skippygirlsmom!

Just make sure you are taking it real easy. An extra rest day now is much better than getting set back several weeks if the ankle isn't ready. Says the person who ran several races once on a hurt quad because she had "already paid for them" and ended up not being able to run for over a month.6 -

Definitely taking it slow! I plan on taking a rest day tomorrow and Friday to see how it reacts to the one mile, and if it is doing okay and continues getting better and better, I'll try again. If it hurts more tomorrow or Friday, I'll wait another week to gauge it. I'm also still working on my stretches and will make sure to stretch a little more tonight since I did do a short run/walk!
