Katla,
I am here, reading along each day!
Feeling neurotic and anxious about all I have to do.
Wondering why I self-sabotage when I have a lot to accomplish.
All totally worthless - the neurosis, the anxiety, and the wondering. Pffffttt!

Sending prayers for your family and for you. You are hurting along with others in your family. I hope for the best possible outcome for your brother in law, the family, and for you.

Michele- here, it is more that the stores don't have people to stock the items. We went in one of the Safeway's and looked like no one came in to work meat department, seafood department or frozen.
Yes, there are some shortages but not like what we saw. (dh works at another Safeway so knows about shortages and price changes as he helps in that department a few times a week).2 -

Allie - thinking about you and Tracy, hope all goes very well...
For all the West Coast folks, and a few inland states as well, if you bought ground beef recently, you might want to check it at this website.
The usual suspect of E.coli, and that site gives you a list of where it was distributed, and which kind.
Later, y'all,

Interesting. I had just purchased ground beef and a day after, it had turned brown. It's in the landfill now (or on it's way), but now I'm glad I tossed it. Thanks for the post.2 -
Allie - what wonderful news! I just popped in to see if there was any word from you.
Gotta run, but so glad everything is well.

So pleased, Allie! Congratulations on your new grandson's birth, I know you're looking forward to holding him...1

Allie - Congratulations on the new little one. Glad everyone is doing well.
Julie - I use an app called Calm. they have guided meditations, sleep stories, and music. Some inspirational talks on different subjects. I personally like that kind of thing and have used it in teaching my arthritis classes and laughter yoga. I have also done the crystal bowls when I lived in Sioux Falls. I don't know anyone here that does crystal bowls. Some of the music I find very relaxing and use when I cannot sleep but other stuff just irritates me so I pick and choose. I have lately been using an album by Yo Yo Ma and Katherine Stott called "Songs of Comfort and Hope" that helps me relax and sometimes fall asleep. There is currently a series on grief featured on Calm that has helped me somewhat. I think you need to find someone with the right voice for you if you use guided meditation.
Gray day today. I went and bought groceries. I have been concentrating this week on protein intake, the total in grams and the percentage of my total calories. I am trying to increase the protein to see if it makes me less hungry between meals. also increasing my steps so I am in some kind of shape to go to Disneyland in February.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Lovely news ALLIE, look forward to pics.
Kate UK ❤️1 -
Sue-thank you for the suggestion for an app (Calm) for possible meditation/sleep assistance. I also have used some of the meditation/mindfulness programs on my fitbit app. My DH is not real thrilled when I turn them on. I’ve really been struggling with getting to sleep and staying asleep.
Allie-congratulations on the new grand baby. How wonderful is the miracle of new life?!
Today wasn’t a great day. I spent the day with my DH who finally felt well enough to get out. We ate out all three meals today and I went over my calorie limit. I’m disappointed with my choices, but we enjoyed our day out.
Karleen in Florida3 -
Congrats and big hugs, Allie. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Julie: Like Sue in WA, I also use an app called Insight Timer. I use guided meditations every morning by some very gifted providers, sleep stories or music at night to sleep, guided Reiki when needed, and free live events like yoga or group chanting when the spirit moves me. This app has been instrumental in helping me maintain equanimity.
Karen in VA: Be kind to yourself. You have alot on your shoulders, and in time, it will all be resolved.

Allie, congrats on the new grandson.
Heather, congrats on the publication of your short story.
Thanks to all the well wishes for my dad. I am at the hospital with him tonight. This is my first night staying, but my 8th straight day of being here all day long. My sister is finally here so she can chauffeur Mama back and forth. I wish they’d let her take a turn in the hospital room, but they won’t. I could only talk Mama into going home by staying myself. She has stayed for the last three nights. He’s had some setbacks. He is still at the hospital. We were expecting to go to rehab on Wednesday. Now the plan is Monday. They wanted to send him home on Thursday with hospice. Mama freaked and said no. We were still going to give rehab a chance. They discovered something called Zenker’s Diverticulum that was the source of the choking/coughing fits/falling. He’s been working with a speech therapist and a dietitian to help with that. Now that he has had a couple of successful days of non-episodic meal eating, they are more inclined to discuss rehab vs hospice. This is rough stuff, y’all. I’m not gonna lie.12 -

I really hope things start improving for your father!
I am surprised they're letting you stay that long. When my husband was in hospital, they had quite strict visiting hours, and that was pre-COVID.

Allie - congratulations!
It’s been an incredibly busy week and I was hoping for a quiet weekend but I have a lot of work to do. Both for work and I need to start taking Christmas down. My daughter was going to come help but her DH is sick, although he has tested negative for Covid we aren’t risking me carrying something unknowingly into work.
We are on Outbreak at work, I’m not sure how many staff are positive, no residents though so that’s good.
Ceramics started again last night, I am making a project for my eldest daughter. She loves Halloween more than Christmas so I decided to make this. It has an accessory set for Christmas and Halloween.

Hooray, Allie! Congratulations.
Julie -- I use Headspace. I find the sleep meditations very effective.
Health update:PET scan was very encouraging. No new areas of concern. small spot on lung eliminated as an area of concern. The three other spots (two vertebrae and one rib) have diminished, a lot. In addition, my CA 15-3 blood test, which measures breast cancer antigens, went from 51 on October 5, before my last treatment, to 13. 0-25 is normal. Doctor is consulting with radiology oncology as to whether I need to have radiation. I see her again two weeks from Monday, and she said she will have an answer for me then. Hubby and I had celebratory sex -- the first time in six months I've actually felt like doing anything. I really feel like I just got my life back. I know it's not forever, and I will still be in treatment, but everything is looking really good.
Ibrance arrives Monday. Still waiting on the Zometa approval. But feeling pretty good about everything.
I am stunned.

Hi all,
I am new here. Two weeks until my next birthday and I will be 61. I went fully vegan and sugar free on 1 Dec and feel better than when I was in my 30s. I even managed over 38 miles on my stationary bike today. Nice to be here. Elizabeth

Good Saturday!
Machkaa love your story telling. I am happy that you both had a great time.
Allie Congratulations!
Flea- that is great news!
I have been under the weather all week. Feeling much better yesterday and today finally. DH got flu shot in Tuesday and is all congested. Sister in law has been home sick. I am lysoling everything I can especially at work. The upside is we are really slow with foot traffic this time of year. I need to go to grocery but just dont feel like it. I may to click list and puck up after work. I am making headway on work paperwork and need to start getting tax stuffs together. I am proceeding with cataract surgeries. My sister sent me a skin care box yesterday. I am excited to try some of the products. I use to live to wear makeup, but have felt it hasn't looked good the last few years. Maybe skin care is what I need. My sister always looks great.
Welcome to all the new ladies!
Hugs to all because we all need them!

Happier January 2022
8: Say positive things to the people you meet today. R meeting followup.
Our neighbor (the chainsaw-wielding hero) stopped by to let us know the bank above the lane, on our property, slid a bit after the recent storms. Fortunately not blocking the road. He offered to have “his guy with a tractor” push/clear the slide, but it would cost us some $$.
Julie I don't use guided meditations, but have some soothing, new age-ish music CDs that help me modulate my breathing.
Barbie brava for sacrificing your “wants” to the need to make healthful, caring decisions. At a church committee zoom meeting this evening, people were talking about all the recent infections. Our county reported 42 new cases yesterday, up from an average of 4 cases/day the past month. Fortunately most people were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. None of the folk meeting in person were masked. I wasn’t masked either, but was “zoomed” in from my home office. SMH.
Karen in VA ((hugs))
Welcome @SFFirebird ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale?
Michele wow that’s a long list. I’ll stop complaining about Freddie’s empty dairy and frozen food aisles now
Lisa thanks for the ground beef recall link!
Allie that is great news! Congrats gramma!
Sue “laughter yoga”? Like what happens when we do Lion’s pose the first time?
Oh Kay. ((hugs)) Rough stuff indeed. [prayers]
Flea thank goodness for the stunning news. Praying you continue to feel better.
Welcome @Twistarella Elizabeth!
Joe walked the dogs all the way down the lane to the mailbox so I flaked on taking them to the powerline. He checked out the slide and feels nothing needs to be done (surprise ). Instead of weighing in, I asked him to discuss with our neighbor and I would support whatever he decides. He did concede that our neighbor has more expertise in these matters than he does, so gives me hope he will be guided (and not dig in in reaction to an opinionated wife.:)
Oh look who just popped his head in to say “Good Morning!”

Flea-great news on your labs/tests! It is amazing what they can do with some things!
Kylia-I'd be very careful. Covid-19 is rampant in our counties right now.I had 12 staff this week go positive. Most recent last night. She had a stuffy nose most of the week, lost sense of smell Thursday afternoon and tested positive yesterday. Her husband (whose workplace in Columbus has an outbreak) test positive last night also. Luckily neither of them feels really sick and I hope it stays that way over the weekend. My staff member and her husband are really pretty darned careful but it seems like this new variant is a real stinker. I figure it is a matter of time for me to catch it, but I am dodging it as long as I can!
Going to get grocery list together and run down there quickly before it gets crowded.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio3 -
Machka you sure know how to set a scene and spin a plot... but the very best was the camping memories that came back to your DH. Popping a rib=painful, and don’t even think about sneezing

Thank you all!
It's amazing what happens when you just relax and let your mind wander ... and when you read a lot of mysteries.
My back is feeling a bit better today. At least I can breathe!

Good morning, my little chickadees. I was up early today to get in my workouts. I'm just about to go out to the local shops to get meat for the Sunday dinner and some bread. We did our main shopping on Wednesday, and our big supermarket had already filled all the Christmas shelves with Easter eggs. There weren't many gaps on the shelves even though it was quite early.
Machka loved the Maria Island journal. Sounds like a wonderful place. So sorry about the rib. You never know the minute.
Heather congrats on getting another item published-you are on a roll! We get the the Mail digitally. Look forward to reading it.
Rebecca: What a marvellous way for your son to re-enlist.
AllieHope all goes well with the arrival of little guy!
Weather has taken a turn to cold. We don't get much snow, but we went to check up on brother-in-law's house up the country, and there was a smattering of snow on the hill he lives on.
Granddaughter has returned to Oxford,. She has got a job, so will be remaining there after she presents her thesis.
Take care all,
Slowly catching up 😂
