I'm either having a flare up of my Sjogren's syndrome, or I'm having covid. Soooo tired, with a swollen throat and sore tongue. The syndrome affects the salivary glands.

Sue-hope golf went well. I’ve never played but one of my son’s loves it. I think the main thing is-you can go out and play!
Carla-congrats on mom going home,
Karen-great pics!
Heather-glad you got to reconnect with family.
Barbie in NW WA-I love the wisdom in “Life is a series of opportunities to practice patience.”
Allie-good luck with thyroid biopsy. I am guessing they may do a fine needle aspiration. They basically just stick a needle in the area to draw out some of the cells. After they check them, they decide if a more surgical procedure is needed. It isn’t really bad, but the pressure is weird and depending on if they hit the nerves in there near your voice box you may want to cough, etc.
Logging in-I thought it was just me. However, I did just close out, skip the log in, clicked community and seem to be in. Really doesn’t bother me much one way or another. My government computer has daily log ins and push responses to approve.
We gave up landline years ago. After we both got cell phones and both mother’s passed, my husband (Mr. Cheap) thought it was a waste of money. I haven’t bothered changing it. I do make sure I have phone with me when I go to basement and outside. The apple watch also helps with security.
Glad to be on downside of the week. Have to deal with personnel issue this am. A staff member can’t seem to understand why it is a problem to call in sick continually. I am trying to reeducate them.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Machka - my personal email is a disaster I try to delete as I go. My work email has folders and when I’m done with something it moves to the appropriate folder from my inbox. I never aim to get my inbox empty, just manageable.
Barbara - my Dad and Rodger’s Dad were both into CB’s and ham radios. I do know some younger people in my old area that were into them, I don’t know if they still are or not.
We changed our phone system at work to VOIP it’s terrible. We had to get a new line for the alarm system and are currently dependent on staff having cell service in the event of an emergency.
Heather - feel better soon
Ginny - I’m happy not to have to have those conversations but I miss being a manager at times.
It is currently 410 in the morning, I’ve been awake for 40 minutes listening to the wind roar.
Today is my brothers 50th birthday! I am so proud of him. He starts his 4th block of school on Monday. He will then be the licensed mechanic he started to get when he was 18. He put his dreams and aspirations aside to help with failing grandparents and parents. I feel guilty for that a lot.
Tracey in Edmonton4 -
Heather- I had a CB as a teen and I had a blast and made alot of new friends,it was I guess sort of the cell phone of the 70s lol
Ginny- thank you for the heads up on the biopsy... they said something about numbing the area and yes I have to go to the radiology area of the hospital and they are doing it by ultrasound with a needle like you said.. after open heart surgery twice this is a piece of cake..
I might be going with Tracy to the pediatrician with Miles we will see4 -
Good morning all! Happy Thursday! A real quick "pop" on to say that I am loving all of the pics of pups and grands! Karen VA- Olivia is five, already! I knew it was coming, as Joaquin will be 5 next month. Boy! That flew by! She is a beauty! Rebecca- love the pic of Athena coaxing her boat across the water! Heather- the pics of your grands are always so lively! That Bea!
Katla- You will know when you find the right dog for you!
Dogs- I love dogs; especially big dogs. But I have been dogless for my entire adulthood. Never got a dog while I was renting. Then I began my childcare business and a dog just seemed like a huge liability (especially bc I would want a malamute, and that breed would cancel my insurance) But I enjoy the neighborhood dogs who come visit us as we walk/play outside; and I enjoy my grand dog, Chappie.
Landline- I have one I am required to for my business. Paying for it is not fun; but it comes in handy when you have to give your phone number to businesses/ or for potential clients. My family, childcare families, and close friends all phone/text me via my cell number.
Emails- Yikes, Machka! That's a lot of emails! I can't even wrap my head around 2000! I get about 20-40 emails a day. 3/4 of them from the state and childcare affiliates, 1/4 of them junk mail or stuff I am no longer interested in. I like an empty inbox at the end of the day. The only correspondence that stays in my inbox are the things I need to work on or am currently working on. ONce the project is done, the emails get filed.

I know it's ME that doesn't have the patience with the gentle leader. I just hate seeing Harley fight it so bad! He just claws and fights with it and doesn't seem to enjoy the walking part of the walk. Guessing that's the Chihuahua in him. Ah well... I suppose we'll continue to try. Maybe eventually.
Back to work. Have a great day ladies!

Barbara I called my friend earlier in the day. My number was the last one in her phone. Her dog got a hold of the phone. He was a puppy at the time and he must have hit the wrong button. Hence the call at 3:30 ### in the morning. I did wait to call her back the next day and told her about the call.3

This was my excitement yesterday that I could do without...I posted this in our local next door neighbor...
This happened in Payne Phalen yesterday...I noticed a car idling and parked not quite even with the curb. As I drove by the car I was going the same direction as the parked car I saw for sure three young men with black hoods on sitting in the car. The youth in the back was younger than 15. I looked at him and he looked at me. I knew the person who lived where the car was parked in front of and they had no business there. It was a dark grey Sonata and I could not get a license because the plate was obstructed by dirt. I did call it in but by the time I got the description in they had moved on. It may have been nothing but my gut told me they were car jackers. I was careful. Please if you see something suspicious call it in. I knew it was not right because I know my neighbors. If we are to stop this we can do our part by calling when something isn't right. Please be alert out there and keep your own safety as your top priority. I also alerted neighbors to what I saw just as I am alerting you now.8 -
Just joining MFP so this will be my first post. I'm looking forward to learning about my pitfalls and how to navigate around them! I need to loose about 20 pounds but more importantly I want to start a lifestyle that is sustainable and healthy. Hope I can share and gather tips from everyone!

Welcome. One of the first suggestions I got when I started on this thread was to make reading it part of my day ---every day. By reading every day, I got to know the names and learned a few things that helped me. It took baby steps for me to develop the great habits I have today. I also got suggestions for books to read and podcasts to listen to so I could further improve my habits and attitudes. I hope to see you again.

I had the pleasure of a telephone visit with my cousin & his wife this morning. I enjoyed the conversation.
Came to the health club. I am here a day before my yoga class. I expect to be here again tomorrow. I’m spending time on a stationary bike and watching Olympic Ice Skating. The current skater is Japanese.

Lanette--Sorry to hear about Sophie. Never easy.
Michele--Your bear is cute, I am sure she will enjoy it.
Debbie--I understand that not being a nice person at times. I find myself that way this week and I am not happy with myself, but we are not giving up and we will do better. I believe in you and me.
Heather--So hope you are feeling better.
Allie--Good Luck today, sending prayers.
Margaret--Thanks for the reminder that we all need to be on the watch for each other. It is not safe out there.
Not feeling the best today. Everything I eat does not agree with me. This happens when I get really stressed and it has been on of those weeks. I did learn yesterday that if I want the attention of the president of the hospital, I just have to have one of my staff on the floor cleaning it with a Mr Easer. Long story if my dept is a pit and they keep telling me we are on the list. Well yesterday the girl I was working with decided to clean under her desk and one tile at a time and she ended up doing the whole floor, and about the time she was almost done the president comes walking by and wants to know why she is on the floor when we have people for that. I told him that we do not as I keep getting told they are short and don't have time. Also our floors are so old they can not be waxed. I had him come in so I could show him around at our falling apart cabnits that have replacements in the basement that no one has time to put in and walls that need painted. I told him I have told my boss that if they bring the stuff we will do it. Well president says we have people to do that, I again told him we were on the list, but been pushed back for at least 3 years because of other projects. I asked him if any other office in the hospital looks as run down as this. He told me he would talking to people and if my boss doesn't get back to me about it in a week to call him, also within 10 minutes housekeeping was up here with a machine to buff the floors and are coming in tonight to wax. It should not be this hard to get things done. I did tell the lady that was on the floor that from now on when I needed something done and get no results she was going on the floor again. Sorry to go on so, but it really messes with me.

Vicki - You should be really PROUD of yourself for speaking up and getting a result. Way to go! Yes it is hard, but you are doing it. Kudos to you.
Had a bit of a meltdown tonight. I succumbed to a Pernod because I was sooooo tired. Mistake. I hadn’t done any post lunch exercise because I was exhausted. Resulted in a mini Pernod binge. I'm not over basic calories, but over my goal. Forgiving myself. Indulged in stinky cheese. OK.
Zoom with girlfriends was good. I realised while I was talking about it that quite a bit of DH'S reluctance to re-visit sites is because he had stayed in these places on very happy holidays with his previous partner who died of breast cancer.
I know he wants to enjoy the holiday with me, but I am a complete newcomer, and he is an old hand.
I'm glad I've understood the problem.

Barbara — Our veterinarian’s staff called us and let us know about a local dog breeder. We went to her home and met lovely dogs. She had two amazing black Standard Poodles that were getting ready to leave for a dog show. Both were absolutely stunning. We were attracted to a lovely medium sized gray poodle. We have been told about a litter that will be born at the end of March. We are hoping this might include a future dog for us.
We lost our last pup to cancer. He was the sweetest Keeshond and we held him in our arms as he passed away.
We want to find a new healthy pup and are hoping for a pup in a future litter. We respect the advice of our Veterinarian’s staff, who recommended this breeder.

I rode Henry today. We did well. I could tell he wanted to be lazy but he responded when I asked him to. Pretty much. We had a nice trot. We put some rings on poles and trotted some smaller circles.
My exercise plan is going pretty well. Too many peppermint patties have crept into my diet. There's just not a lot of room for candy, but I have been squeezing it in. Weigh in is tomorrow, so I should be drinking water instead.
Allie hugs to you. Hope the news is good.1 -

Lanette - So very sorry to read about the loss of your fur baby.
Heather: - I hope it’s not Covid, and that whatever it is goes soon.
Allie: - Glad you had your biopsy. Sending positive vibes for a good result.

Allie-I know the waiting is tough. While it is weird to hear, most thyroid cancers are very treatable (they used to say it was the "best" cancer to get). I was first diagnosed in 1996, had thyroid removed and have been on synthroid since they. I have a rarer type of thyroid cancer (hurtle cell). Very slow growing. My levels are slowly rising, but they can't find enough of anything to do anything about. I refer to it as my chronic cancer.
If your thyroid has been off for a while, that could have contributed to some of your other issues. The thyroid is a powerful little gland that impacts or whole body. Hang tough-you've got this!
Take care,
Ginny in Ohio5
