Katla - my DH should have been wearing a medic alert bracelet for years but refuses to. I understand how you “hope” that you DH will wear one. I don’t know why people can be so stubborn.
Barbara - my manager doesn’t need to do anything with this document except read it. I have explained it to her every time though. The problem is she is such a micromanager that I think the stress is causing her to have issues. She doesn’t concentrate on one task or concern at a time and keeps getting them mixed up. However, she believes she is a great multitasker and has a great memory. I am actually a bit concerned about her health.
Sorry the knee wouldn’t let you go through a day without giving out.
Lisa - DH and I haven’t eaten in a restaurant since Jan 2020. I have with my youngest daughter in the last couple of months though.
I hope your daughter has a lawyer that will fight for her.
Terri - I’ve often wondered about locked phones too. I don’t keep mine locked.
Pip - 10 years congratulations!
Machka - I love you dry stream. I think I would enjoy something like that. I have no interest in putting the work into it though. I don’t find gardening peaceful at all. It does remind me of many loved ones though.
Heather - love the poem
Allie - my eldest suffered terribly from colic. She was formula fed. My Aunt told me that one of her grandchildren had the same issue and that they gave him whole milk. I was surprised and didn’t think I would try it, until the middle of the night one night and desperation set in. I called my MIL and asked her opinion. She didn’t think it would hurt. Against my doctors wishes I switched her to whole milk and all of our issues disappeared. I tried gripe water too never helped much.
I feel for Tracy, it’s hard.
Yesterday while wasting time scrolling through FB I saw a post about a photography studio from my hometown selling old files from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. I sent an email last night asking about buying files of my parents wedding, my baby photos and a set taken of my brother and I when he was young. They responded this morning asking for the years I thought they might be and told me they will get back to me in a few days. They had a huge response to their post so it will take time to get through them all.
It will be nice if I’m able to get some. I have most of my parents wedding pictures, but some are in poor shape.

Debbie— DH has put on a bracelet that has the medic alert symbol. He had it for 30 years, and it is doing its job today.
dad and mom had/have the pendent that is connected to LifeAlert. It works well for them. Neither had any real health issues(did did have a slight heart problem but that is it)
Went to Zumba tonight- didn't push it but did feel good to move a little. Time for another breathing treatment- #4 for today again- going to grab a hot shower first I think.
Trying to find if it is better to do hot shower then treatment or do a treatment then a hot shower. Can't find the answers. Someone posted hot showers can make asthma worse and for me, it works as well or better than my inhaler during an attack. Some say cold air helps, that makes mine so much worse- a major trigger for me.
Good night ladies.
Have a great Tuesday

Allie -- I can't find the post now where you asked about colic. All three of mine had it. What you have to remember is that there is nothing you can do about the crying. They are going to cry. Once you've checked if he is wet or hungry, if he still cries, you have two choices. One you just hold him and let him cry. Or you put him in his bassinet, and let him cry. I always preferred to hold mine, but I have had friends who had to just put them down and walk away. We had one neighbor who sat out in her car while the whole neighborhood could hear her baby crying. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to keep your sanity. It does go away with time. So as he gets older, his colicky periods will get shorter.
None of my kids took a pacifier either.

Our daughter has been here for several days because we are worried about DH. We will have a meeting at our local medical clinic on Wednesday. I found 2 medic alert items in DH’s closet. One was a necklace and the other was a bracelet. He’s wearing them now. Taking steps in the right direction, I hope.3

Up till recently, I didn't like gardening either. I grew a veggie garden a couple times in my 20s but quickly lost interest in it and it would fill with weeds. Since then, decades have passed and I've had no interest in gardening at all.
Last year about this time, I started becoming concerned about my husband's deterioration. He had been managing our garden all right, but then had started letting it go like he had no energy. In early May last year, he had the heart attack and the medications have renewed his energy.
However in May last year I also started taking every other Friday off with the intention of helping him get on top of the garden again ... and with the intention I would get on top of things to do in the house. In June, I planted over 300 bulbs in "my bed" - the one garden bed I took over but that didn't really light a spark.
As the flowers starting coming up and blooming, that's when I started to become hooked.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday! Welcome new ladies! Really quick note to Allie...
Allie- I second all of the other ladies comments and suggestions. To add a couple: Does Tracey use a "tracker" or record app, to record/track Miles feedings, sleep, diapers, etc? There are many out there and they are so useful because baby can't talk and it helps you pin point and figure out potential causes of problems. Also, has Tracey been eating anything different that could be contributing to Miles colic/gas distress? IF she is breastfeeding, what she eats/drinks, Miles does as well. To help with the fussiness: Have Tracey sleep with a few of his blankies or wraps so that her scent is on them. Another help if you don't want to go for a drive or walk; do laundry and put Miles in his bouncy seat or car seat against the vibrating washer/dryer. This has worked with my own kids and many of my childcare kiddos. The hum and vibration generally put them right to sleep. I have also put baby in a front pack carrier, put a heating pad on low on top of a living room chair and then put the carrier over the top of the chair so that baby hangs upright on the front of the chair against the warm heating pad (with mama scented blankie on top of warm pad, and head resting on/near the top of the chair). A good "hold" to use for the majority of colicky babies is the football hold or if you are sitting; put baby on one of your knees, lower that knee (by straightening the leg a little) then lean baby onto the other knee that is slightly higher, so that baby is on an incline. Then pat or rub back. This stopped Javier's crying every.single.time when I was visiting just after he was born.
Sorry so long. Hope you can glean a little from all of this. Like Heather has said, colic only lasts about 12 weeks tops. Someone else mentioned , do not take it personally. Colic isn't a "behaviour", it is the result of all of the systems inside this tiny human are beginning to "work" the way they are supposed to. The nervous system, the muscular system, the digestive system, etc. Until baby's body and brain get used to these new systems, it is probably scary and uncomfortable for them. Hugs to you, Tracey, and Miles. Really, the whole family, because if baby isn't happy...no one is happy. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (kelly)5 -
Machka- Oooh boy! My DH would love those pies! I haven't made a pie in ages! Very nice job!1

Mindful March
22: Notice something that is going well, even if today feels difficult.
No hot tub for me, at least ‘til after this course of antibiotics. X-rays showed subchondral cyst, wear and tear. Anti-inflammatory gel and aspirin for the wonky knee while waiting for MRI to be scheduled. Ice, elevate, walk on flat smooth floor, wear knee brace, avoid salt (edema & BP) and cheese (for the cholesterol.) Could be a lot worse.
Terri, Joe continues to pick up the slack, exercising the dogs and himself. V. thankful.
Machka and Lisa garden memories and inspiration.
Heather Thanks for reading the backstory, glad you found it interesting. Usually hard for me to give things up, but this was for a good cause so eased the sting. And we all get pleasure from your cruises, irl or imagined! the poem.
Annie, well done!
Vicki nice weather=motorcycle ride YAY!
Welcome @nanacutler Janene in NC. Hop right in, the water’s fine! What a cozy group of afghan-wrapt grands. I love me some grouchy terriers Activity is THE challenge with hurting body parts, and finding those you like is key. If I walk in place while watching TV it helps to distract me from what I’m doing
Michele thanks for the wine cookie recipe. My mouth is watering, they sound delicious. When I first read “Wine cookies” I thought of the American Vintage red wine and cracked pepper wine biscuits that I loved. Alas, long discontinued. Holding good thoughts for Wednesday’s appoinotment.
Katla hooray for DH’s finding and wearing his medic alert bracelet. Sending good thoughts for Wednesday’s appointment.
Karen the pink piggy steamer made me snort with laughter
Pip you are amazing. Bravissima!
Beth very sorry to hear your mom fell again and that the hospital is not communicating. Glad to hear PT has worked for you, gives me hope!
Lisa, wow, just WOW!!!
Tracey hope the studio has your family’s treasures and will sell them to you for very little $$.
Debbie glad you know your own body and congrats on the Zumba!
Flea glad to see you posting, wishing you well.
KJ you are a wonder!
Later, Lighter, lovelies!

Allie you said her mom is very stressed this might be part of the cause of the colic. Perhaps if she works on eases her stress the best she can... Breathing giving herself mini breaks whatever it takes. Playing calming music. Watching her diet to see if what she eats affects her baby. If nothing else it might motivate her to take the best care she can give herself and this would help to cope with a baby with colic. I am learning the mood in which we prepare our food has an effect on our own health.
Just read Kelly's suggestions and second them.1 -

Hello All
I recently started My Fitness Pal needing to lose some weight, seeking more energy and to seriously build my strength up..so I can keep up with my youngsters. I am 60ish, married and have children and grandchildren. I see a few of you from the Just For Today thread. It’s helping me over there to focus on what I can do just for today...to create success and to really learn to take One Day at a Time. I am looking for support from like minded gals focusing on their health and well being. My location is undisclosed for privacy.
My mini goal is to get into the next decade by April 1st. My word is Everyday.

I'm so sorry Lisa. Anne had one of those too. Just out of the Corps and she'd saved almost everything she'd earned while IN, and that jacka took her for just about everything she had while telling her that it was in "their" best interest to spend her money here and there and blah, blah, blah... SO glad we're well away from him. Unfortunately, doesn't pay the child support he's supposed to, but that's another story too.
Tracey, I just don't even know what to say about your daughter and son-in-law's friend. I am so very sorry for their loss. We've seen the Canadian Air Force skydiving team several times and it was absolutely an amazing group to watch. They are a truly talented group of individuals that perform in unison. I remember when Freddy and I lost a husband and wife from our wedding party several years after our wedding. It's quite tramatic losing the first of your peer group, especially people that close to you. Just be there for them when/if they want to talk about it and when they don't want to talk.
OMGosh NANACUTLER!!! What kinda pup is "the big one? Is that Ava or Maisie? She's gorgeous! Love her coloring. They're both adorable.
Excellent Katla. Steps are steps, even baby steps.
Apple pies and sunflowers, M!!! You made my day!
Well after a whirlwind week, the grands are back with mom now. Her team didn't do as well at the tournament this year. But they had fun. They rented a house together and she got to play on a coed team as well as her women's team because one of the coed females couldn't make it at the last minute.

I'm sorry I can't remember all of your names yet...
Collic problem: I've care for almost all 8 of those grandbabes. With one I had to wrap her in one of those 5 yard long stretch fabric wraps against my chest. It comforted and kept her in a vertical position which really helped with the release of her stomach gas.
Headache: I'm so sorry about the morning headache. I hope it dissapears. I have started having headaches recently, unusual for me. I figured out my BP was way out of control 165/104, oh my.... hence the recommitment to better eating lol
Sunflowers: They are gorgeous. We are nowhere close to blooming flowers yet, only those on trees that bloom early Spring. I'm so anxious to hang and set flowers out but i know we still have a frost or two to suffer through so I shall refrain for now.
We are still waiting for things to green up here get past the last frost. These pics are
from my back porch and front yard this past week.

NanaCutler- thank you for the advice also .. right now both of them are passed out on the couch.. poor Tracy needs the sleep and so does Miles...
I should probably sneak out and let them rest.2 -
Nana Cutler— Your Elk is stunning. We live in the middle of town. There are no elk here but there are white tail deer. They love to eat our blueberry bushes. When the berries are nearing ripe I cover the bushes with netting.2

Still loopy from the meds, really hoping this passes soon. Still working on emptying one bin at a time for my office/craft/dining room and sorting everything into keep/pitch/sell piles. Being loopy is not helping that at all.
Allie - no good words for colicky babies - when I got mine at 15 and 17, they were a little large for a baby carrier.
Heather - loved the piece you posted.
Janene - I crochet as well, but have only three grands to make afghans for... if you have prime or one of the other streaming services, you might look for chair yoga or chair exercise for seniors. I did that quite a bit after my knee replacement.
Am working on creating an email newsletter, including pulling all my old articles from my old web spaces. Will send it out when I have my archive sorted and more to say. Maybe. It might end up just being a private archive. Still thinking about it.
Later,
Love y'all,

Nanacutler, nice to meet you! I am on Whidbey island in WA state. We have one elk that swims over from the mainland now and again. His name is Walter and he's a big guy, like your big guy!

Katla, the elk had become extinct in the Appalachian mountains so the National Park Servic reintroduced them some 20+ years ago. Since we live near we see them daily. the problem is that they are not truly like a wild elk but have become accepting of humans. They are kinda like free-range cows lol but they are huge and will hurt you if they feel in danger. But they are spectacular even if annoying. They love gardens....
I have a question. I like to drink a protein shakes in the morning for time and convenience. But I find they constipate me. Have any of you ever tried adding chia seeds to a drink to increase the fiber?3 -
Yesterday we went hunting for medic alert bracelets for DH. We started in his dresser and found 1. He put it on yesterday and plans to keep it on. The necklace was missing and I found it on the floor behind his nightstand this morning. He is wearing both now. Both are important.5
