Barbie — Thank you for the new thread. Our grandchildren enjoyed Trick or Treat. They live in a small town in Illinois, and every house had a porch light on, and a friendly neighbor with treats. 🎃
Rebecca— I agree that this thread is invaluable. Re: Gallbladder—You will be pleased to have it gone. 😊. (I speak from experience.)
Heather— I enjoy reading about your cruises. Water color class sounds like a happy experience. ⭐️
Allie— I cherish your friendship. 🌹
Rosemarie —Thank you for good wishes.😊
Machka — Happy November! Sending good wishes for good results from your biopsies. 🙏🏻
In the US, Thanksgiving is 24 days from today — Macy’s Parade is a tradition and televised, followed by football and men of a certain age enjoying a nap or watching
the football game on TV. 😎
Carol in GA— Thanks for good wishes for an excellent November. 🤞🏻
Lisa — I love your goals, the three B’s — B lighter, B healthier, and stick to the budget. ⭐️
Margaret — Trick or Treat was a wonderful event in the little town in Illinois where our daughter & family live. Children were accompanied by family members & every home with a porch light on gave kids a treat.🎃
Lanette — Thanks for your elliptical review. Weather proof exercise equipment is excellent.⭐️
Heather— I like the Halloween photo of your grandchildren. 😊
Hugs Katla, I have heard that😄! Poor gallbladder gets a bad wrap, and is never missed, unlike other organs. Lee had his out along with his offending old liver. I guess they go together.
Hugs to you in all you're going thru. May I say you are quite the acclimater!

Kim We have been doing curbside pickup of groceries from QFC for nearly two years. I love it. The service is free for over $35.00 so it's easy to do that every week. We plan ahead so we can buy enough for the week and have some things in the freezer for emergency. From time to time we get a bad item of produce, but I've done that even when I picked out things for myself. I feel so much safer not going into the store.
Katla, I'm thinking good thoughts for your husband's continued improvement and his return to the apartment with you.Hi. I’m hoping to find a community of support here as I continue on my health gaining (and weight loss) journey. I’m 56 and live in Florida.
Keep coming back and tell us more about yourself. I've been coming here for awhile. I'm 76 and live with my husband and rescue dog. I've learned so much from the women on this thread. I walk every morning no matter what the weather and ride my exercise bike while watching TV or reading.

Kim— It is great to have support from good neighbors & friends. ❤️ 😘2

Worked then went to the gym, Salvation Army, then CVS since they have Vince’s cereal on sale. The guy was here about the roof when I got home. We’re gettting a new roof for the cost of our deductible.
Happy November, everyone. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it (for those of us in the US)
Heather – I love the expressions on those kid’s faces
Mom2Cubs – welcome! Jump in when you like
Kim – how would not inviting the guy who gave you the hamburgers to your BBQ hurt his feelings? Keep eating those M&M’s!!!
Since they are going to be putting on the new roof in a few weeks, looks like we won’t be doing much decorating for Christmas, either.
Rita – love Amie’s eyes
Went to ceramics tonight.
Now to watch a bit of TV, then bed.

Tomorrow is skin biopsy day. 3 suspicious spots ... the most worrisome being my nose.
Machka in Oz
Done!
The hip and underarm ones were easy - both punch biopsies but, with a local, were quick and painless.
The nose one was painful ... or rather, getting the local was really painful. She did a 4 mm punch biopsy to get as much of the nose one as she could and figures I'll be back for surgery on my nose. She is very concerned about that one.
Going to go lie down now. I feel like I walked into a door.

Barbie - thank you for another month. I’m going to try to be a little more chatty this month.
Michaela decided she wanted to go dressed as her Mom dressed for Halloween for Halloween.
Jonah was a zombie hunter. I was a fortune teller.

Went to water exercise today then came home to show the cabin to a lady who may rent it for a while. She goes to my church and recently lost her husband. Don't know exactly what the situation is but she apparently had to give up her home almost immediately. She has been living in a friend's basement but there is no heat there and winter is coming so she needs a different place to live. Our cabin is small but at least she will have her own space. It is not however a long term solution. She will probably need subsidized housing and the wait for that can be long.
Kim - hope you are recovering .
Katla - hope the procedure will help your DH.
Pip - we had the mass removed from Nessa's mouth and should get biopsy results back next week. She seems fine so far.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA7 -
we got our first rain last night and today. I decided to go walk. Thought- won't be raining that much as it is the first rain and I had my jacket- thinking it would keep me dry. Wrong on both accounts- My jacket is a WIND braker- doesn't keep rain out and it did not stop raining the whole time I walked- Pushed and did 72 min walk. Got back to the school in time to get Ezie- I did think ahead and had a hot cup of tea and a warm fuzzy jacket in my car that helped to warm me up some.
As soon as I got home I had to change everything- soaked to the skin, even my bra and underware were soaked. The worst part was I had not brought ear muffs so ear was hurting at one part but when I walked a different way on the trail the wind was blowing behind me instead of from the side so that was better.
Felt good to be out there- Not another person on the trail the whole time.
Only 40% chance of rain tomorrow so won't get soaked.
Next time- bring an umbrella(baseball hat was NOT enough)
ear muffs-can't stand cold air in my ears
gloves-thankfully I did have them and was great
other shoes besides tennis shoes
mom gave me rain jacket/pants years ago- never opened it- now I need to see if I can find it and more so, can I fit in it.
Need to prepare more now that I am walking outside and not just on the treadmill(need to unbury that so I can use it sometimes too)

I go back in a week to have all my stitches out and that's when I'll get the results and we'll chat about the next steps. At this point the doctor is making an educated guess as follows:
Underarm - possibly nothing.
Hip - possibly a topical treatment.
Nose - most likely surgery.
If you don't have one, get a comfortable neck pillow. I've had a long nap with one of mine and I will probably have to use it the next couple nights. I got a few of those pillows when I had my deviated septum done.
And have painkillers on hand. I've got quite a headache ... and puffy sore eyes.

Action for Happiness - New Ways November Calendar
https://actionforhappiness.org/calendar#download-block-anchor
Things I want to do:
- cycle more
- run more
- walk more
- row more
- lift more weights
Of course, I won't be able to do any of those things for a few days. I'm not supposed to exercise for at least 48 hours. But it's spring and heading toward summer - I'm hoping the weather settles a little and warms up so we can get out more!
- get settled in my new office building. Aside from getting my missing desktop and so on, this also means getting back to climbing stairs in the new building and getting back to my eating pattern.
- get some medical things sorted like my skin cancer things and finding a new GP. I'm also hoping to get in to see the kidney specialist to whom I have been referred.
- keep working on house and garden.
2022 GoalsMy 2022 goals are a continuation of my 2021 goals.
Upcoming Appointments
Education/Career
Medical
House
Office
Computer
Garden
Spiritual
Fitness/Sports
Cycling
Audax Tasmania
Recreation
House > Office > Computer become more specific as they go along. I have a number of thing which need to be done in the house (sleeping room, dining room, etc.) but most importantly the home office needs a whole lot of work. And along with that I need to organise the drives on my computer into a better filing system.
The goal is to have an organised and decluttered house.
Progress: A surge of progress took place in October!
Fitness/Sports > Cycling > Audax Tasmania also become more specific as they go along. There are a number of fitness/sport things I'd like to try, with a focus on cycling, and a large part of my cycling endeavours includes my volunteer work with Audax Tasmania ... and maybe even riding some events again myself!
The goal it to improve my fitness level.
Progress: Trundling along. This will be a busy month.
Garden was a very small category because that was my husband's domain but I've taken over a few areas like the weeding, the dry stream I'm building, and one other area.
The goal is to have a relaxing and functional area outside for reading, exercise and socialising.
Progress: Making progress!!
Medical is mostly my husband's appointments, which I also need to attend because I'm his ears and cognition. But I'm having some medical issues too
The goal is to keep us as healthy as we can be.
Progress: Slow and steady.
Education/Career ... little things like becoming really good at SQL, brushing up on VB, and learning data analysis software.
The goal is to expand my skillset.
Progress: Making progress with the new job!!
I've got another month to work with ... I've got a list of things to chip away at. If I just get through a couple binders of uni notes. If I just finish the weeding. If I only make a start at organising the files on my computer. If I just start working on things, I've made progress.

Morning, afternoon and evening all, welcome to Wednesday...
About a half hour from now, I'll wake Corey up so he has time to drink a cup of coffee or two or three before we leave at 7:30. My appointment's at 9, and is an hour drive. We always build time into a trip so there's time to stop for a bathroom break. It will be nice to have him driving. When your gut is as iffy as mine is, parking in a parking garage and walking a couple blocks to get to the hospital entrance is definitely a crapshoot (bad pun). Corey can drop me at the entrance and then park wherever he likes to wait out my appointment.
Machka - I'm sorry your face is so ouchy--hopefully, it will all turn out just fine. Looking at your goals for the year, trying and failing to learn Basic was what made me change my degree path from Management Information Systems to a degree path I wrote myself. I created an interdisciplinary studies degree in Writing and Personal Communications BA.
Debbie - hoping it will all turn out well for you too, dear heart.
Well, I've goosed him twice--he was sleeping so well, and really enjoying sleeping two hours longer than usual.
Off to the races, kids--need to go find some comfortable clothes for traveling...
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
The night started off super rough. The poor singer had to stand on the stage in heels while her backing group couldn't operate because of the roll of the ship. She had backing tapes and gave it her best shot. Not many in the audience, but we sat right in the front and tried our best to be appreciative. At one stage she blew me a kiss.
In the cabin, the housekeepers had moved everything off the shelves, but during the night our dining chairs went walkabout, and they ended up down the corridor, next to our entry way.
I didn't find the swell as bad as the night before and did get some sleep! Awake a 5 am. We did a gym session, though DH is still not feeling brilliant.
He did come to the watercolour class and enjoyed it. We followed instructions to create a picture. I had to dash off to attend a lecture, but managed to finish.
This afternoon I have line dancing! Hooray! Might fall over, but heh! Then a lecture on Valencia.
Sent off our first bag of laundry.
Now to lunch!
Love Heather xxxxxxxx somewhere off the north west of Spain.4 -

Thank you Barbie for the new thread.
I enjoyed my trip to Charlottesville and visiting with my two friends. I'm glad I decided I would do 5 days of visiting instead of 10. Even 5 days seemed a long time to visit and I'm so glad to be home.
Betsy in NW WA5 -
I am planning to travel a few miles to see DH in person. I miss him. He is in a nursing facility and working to gain strength. This particular facility is several miles from here. I will ride the bus from our apartment to get there. This will be the first time I have seen the place.
I miss our home and friends in Oregon. I appreciate being close to our family here in Illinois. Seeing DH today is good..10 -
Katla, How great that you can take the bus to see your husband so you are not so totally dependent on your daughter.
