Something I'm good at: I'm grateful that I can write.
A lesson that I'm grateful I learned: my identity is more than a job.

Stocking stuffers: On second thought, I don't think personal care items would work for me this time. I know that if someone bought me, say, deodorant and it wasn't one that I'd use, I wouldn't be exactly thrilled. I don't know the brands Jess uses. I'll probably be able to find out when we go up there, but between now and Christmas, I'm not planning to go there. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I don't think she'd like candy.

I went to Hobby Lobby and got a couple of stress reliving items that are small and fit in the socks. Also Bath and Body works has a great selection of small gift ideas like had sanitizers and holders, hand creams, etc.
Barbara— I love the blanket and my favorite color!

Just got a call from the doctors office- go in tomorrow to have the spot removed and the 15th for the reconstruction surgery
Was not expecting that call this morning.
Looks like I will be laid up for Christmas.

Making chicken stock today.💖👍🏻
To the gal that wished a lasagna sauce recipe. I cheat a bit
Sausage tube (use as much and as little as you like)
Fry up in butter (I use 1 T when cooking 1/2 tube), Italian spice 1/2 tsp, pepper 1/2 tsp, one generous squirt of roasted garlic paste. When brown, add 1 large can of spaghetti sauce (I use Hunts with meat), 1 medium can of plain tomato sauce, 1 small can of tomato paste, 1 large spoonful of brown sugar. Simmer. It makes a 9 x 9 pan, so for a huge lasagna pan I would cook up the whole tube of sausage, 2 cans of each thing.👍🏻
That's my sauce anyway.🙃

Well my middle kid, wife have COVID. She is a nursing assistant so I am kind of surprised she hasn't gotten it sooner. My son goes to some college classes so exposed there. Athena has had COVID shots, so hoping she doesn't get it.😥💖🙏

I love lasagne, but I am super fussy about it being authentic. Real Italian. I have always followed an old recipe book - 'Great Dishes of the World' - by Robert Carrier. I make my sauce from Elizabeth David, 'Ragu', and it has chicken livers in it for richness. I like my lasagne slippery, not like a cake. Lots of bechamel. It freezes beautifully. Absolutely delicious.
Haven't made it for years, but you have reminded me how much I love the real version. Lots of work, but good to prepare in advance for guests. A beautifully dressed green salad with it is enough. A Great Dish indeed.
We have just eaten our pigs cheeks. Super fabulous!

Wow that Covid is certainly going around! Everybody take care!

Barbie--So pretty and she seems very happy with it. Great news for Jake from the cancer doctor.
Deb--Glad you are going to get this done and over with. Let them wait on you for Christmas.

I had my mango smoothie, and there's a tilapia filet thawing. So my diet is doing pretty well. Exercise has to wait for my shoulder to heal more - no yoga yet. Just the half dumbbells, at twenty reps, three times a week. So overall, I'm doing well! And I might even fit into something nice for my date! Hope the weather is okay. I heard flurries on Monday. I might need to wash my warm jacket, too. And then I'm expecting lots of Christmas stuff from Amazon today.
It's a good day to make great diet and exercise choices!

But if I were filling one with things I bought for myself (???), I'd put the alcohol pens I like colouring with in there plus maybe some sketching pencils.

Do you know if they sell something similar in the states? That might make a good stocking stuffer for my daughter. I could just google, but the quality of coloring pens varies so much from brand to brand.0 -
Michele-I did not realize this, but I did a quick search on cutting Silpat (silicone baking liners). It says there is fiberglass inside and that could get into your food. As for the drumset, just don't be disappointed or upset if they chuck it out after you leave. Many toys I gave my nieces and nephews were "lost" shortly after I gifted them.
Debbie and Machka-Sending good thoughts for your surgeries.
Tracey-Beautiful stockings!
Barbie-I love the blanket.
We don't "do" Christmas around here. We try to go somewhere, even if it's just getting a hotel downtown and having a nice dinner out. We very rarely buy each other gifts. We do it throughout the year and we buy what we want for ourselves, so there isn't much left to buy each other by Christmas anyway. I actually would like someone to take a bunch of stuff off my hands. I'm going to work on getting rid of things when we return from our trip.

Just finished a ‘fit for life’ class at city gym. Great instructor.
Next time I’ll try her yoga class
Enjoyed reading about the lasagna recipes

Leftover chicken, sweet white onion chopped, wild rice, tomatoes, pasta, a spoonful of chicken stock paste, turmeric, cayenne pepper, Old Bay, some salt (only when I was sauting onions) and pepper. Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.💖

I would imagine they do. I get mine in a particular craft shop mostly although I find them in various places now and then.
Mine have a thick barrel and are double ended with a relatively fine end on one side and a thicker wedge end on the other.

I have bought a few sets on Amazon- there were some great coupon codes posted when I got mine(a few months ago and also last Christmas-got them from son's girlfriend )

Will be thinking about you and praying yours goes well also.
Need to put the link for this page on my laptop so I can keep reading what is going on here.
Canceled my dentist appointment for next Wed. Didn't think I wanted to do that the morning before the surgery.
Let my zumba teacher I won't be there for over a month- glad I didn't pay for the month when I was there Monday. Don't think I should go this coming monday after they remove all of it tomorrow- Told her I won't be making it for margaritas on the 16th- don't think I will be up to tacos and drinks the day after surgery. I asked one of the ladies to stop by to pick up the candy gifts I made for the ones in class.
The following day is the ladies Christmas party- will message the one in charge and tell her I won't be there..
Told mom I will play it by ear if I come see her on Christmas- if I do, will have my son drive me up and just stay a short time-
Picked up some super soft pj pants-two more pair- have one pair like them and they are super comfy. Love that now I can wear the M and not have to get L.(got a pair of S for mom)
Need to finish decorating so my living room looks festive for me to enjoy during my re-coup time.
Trying to think of what all needs to get done.
I need to find my Christmas cards- will have time to work on them while I kick back in the recliner.
I am just telling myself that tomorrows "procedure" will be just a little more than the first biopsies-trying not to stress about it. Supposed to take an hour which is about what the first one was.

7 What is a lesson you’re grateful you learned? Line dancing has taught me that everyone goofs sometimes. Those who laugh and try again have more fun.
6 Think about something you’re good at. Details. Unfortunately. ;}
Significant Part D savings this year, so worth investing yesterday morning in research but Ugh! Also annoying that when I ask Joe questions about his prescriptions, (like “Did the doctor tell you to stop taking X?”) He gets gruff and grumpy. Looks like he may have taken himself off Metformin (worrisome) and Gabapentin (great idea damstuff is addictive.) When I suggested he ask the Doc at his appointment later this month met with complete resistance and said why should he? Then I got snippy and said “Because it’s your health. You’re going to care more than they are.” After a brief break he grudgingly allowed that I could ask, but he didn’t want to be involved. SMH. All you who advocate for your loved ones have my deepest respect.
All patched up this morning when Joe invited me along on walk with dogs to Azalea Park and House Rock Viewpoint. Boy howdy was it frosty outside! Bur thankful Joe’s attitude warmed up.
Tracey Ditto what everyone said about those stockings. Not only would I not have the patience and eye-hand coordination but I could never make something so personalized and beautiful. Well done!
Machka that is a ding dong danged shame that iRobot AU isn’t offering the deals iRobot US is. In the 8 days I’ve had Maizey, she’s vacuumed over 21 hrs and still produces a full bin every time. A life changer for me. “I've got to get my husband and me home after!” This does not sound like a good idea to me. Hope there’s a taxi or other alternative.
Oh Heather. M&S cherry dark chocolate liqueurs. Yum! Had those when I was in London forty-five years ago and the taste memory is still clear. You look as lovely as your date evening sounds. What did you eat at the Persian restaurant? Enquiring minds want to know!
Carla WOW!
Kim did your GF give any reason for rescinding Levi’s invitation? That would put me into a tailspin too. Any government or energy company subsidies for home insulation?
Barbie your blanket is almost as beautiful as your ggd’s grateful smile! Thankful to hear Jake’s good news.
Rosemarie want to hear more about your learning to weave plans. I’ve also long wanted to learn to spin and weave. (Heather don’t read this.) Stauffer’s makes a tasty “2X meat” lasagna, you could make it “yours’ with a little extra cheese on top and garlic bread on the side. Your son and his wife could bring the salad and wine. Then all you’d have to make is the brownies... or pick some up at the bakery
Michele here the Dollar Tree is much better stocked than Dollar General. This link says “no” to cutting silicone mats to fit a pan. https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/3578517/can-a-silpat-be-trimmed-to-fit-your-panMe, I just use parchment paper Vince has a kind heart
Betsy welcome home!
Katla ((hugs)) Brava for being willing to give the new living situation a try.
Allie you are making wonderful memories for Myles. The 12 days of Christmas will stay with him always.
Carol that pic of the cat with Santa, is a real fool the eye!
Pip sorry to hear it. Praying for easy case and quick recovery. No reprieve for Lucy? You are made of stern stuff!
Debbie how unsettling! But sooner IS better than later imho. Prayers for you and Machka.
Rebecca ((hugs)) for Athena Rose’s parents.
Kay, I bought some Sakura Gelly (sic) Roll pens with sparkly ink that have lasted years without drying. Got a set for my friend T and hoping the quality is the same. https://www.amazon.com/Sakura-57913-16-Piece-Stardust-Collection/dp/B001C2CO3Q?th=1

I want to thank all of you who have wished me well with the upcoming procedures-
That is so much more than I am getting from my younger sister-
I messaged her on Facebook-didn't call her because, first, my mouth is still swollen and sore from my fall plus I didn't feel like listening to her complain about work and what ever.
She read the message but didn't reply at all. She does this most of the time when I message her.

The plan for tomorrow is to do the Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD. A guy to build a retaining wall around our drain is supposed to be here tomorrow a.m. I guess I will see if he comes. Then I’m supposed to go to BK just to peel and slice onions, but that really can be done at any time during the day. I’m supposed to go to lunch with the Newcomers. Vince didn’t want to go. I’m hoping to stop at the Salvation Army on my way home and then stop at WalMart to get a few things that I couldn’t get at Aldi today.
M – you come up with some of the cutest things!
Newcomers has their election of officers next month at their general meeting. I was going to go but now I’m thinking “why bother”. There’s only one person running for each position so you know who’s going to win. So my excuse will be “I didn’t get out of work on time”. Yes, if I truly wanted to go I could go in early. But now I’m leaning toward not being bothered.
Rebecca – I’m so sorry about the Covid. Let’s hope Athena doesn’t get it
Tina – yes, it was the fiberglass. This I didn’t know. I’m not concerned about the drumset. Denise did call today to wish Vince a happy birthday and PJ was on the phone.
Debbie – sending only good thoughts
Had Newcomer bowling tonight. Not much else so I’ll get to bed.
Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions for stocking stuffers.
Oh, here’s the goldfish:
