My good deed yesterday was to put neighbors packages in front of my son's home because they were sitting in full view of the street on their step. There was no way to put it inside their door or into their backyard. Son's home has a short wall at its entrance. Packages put there are not visible from the street. It is also covered and protected from rain. They can easily come and retrieve them at their convenience. We have had at least four porch pirates in this neighborhood in the past two weeks. Two days ago I found an empty box in the middle of the street. When I returned it to the owners they said this was the second time this happened to them. The neighbors I tried to help are teachers and were not due home for at least a few hours. When Fed Ex delivered a package to the next door neighbor I was able to put it inside her porch. Deliveries here they just leave it outside on the step in front of the door.

Winter advisory for the afternoon
So a few errands to stock pantry and delivering care package to friend.
Yesterday, I enjoyed two Senior Center exercise classes PiYo & chair yoga. Planning a repeat next week

Karen - I'm on the "wet side" of WA but snow and foothills aren't too far east of me. We get all kinds of weather, both hot and cold, blowing down Hwy. 12.
Good for you finding the classes at your Senior Center. I'm going to call today and see if they are planning to offer any exercise classes at the one closest to me (7 miles!). I recall they had some before Covid closed them down for a while.
Flea - that's good news and have fun in the sun for me in Belize. Sunlight is a great healer. It'll give you a nice booster!
Beth - I had the same procedures as you about ten years ago. Set me back a few days but all in all wasn't that bad. Crossing fingers for a good report back.
I know I was concerned (I had post meno bleeding and the surgeon of course was cautious.) The nurse at the intake interview was a bit more chatty and said "lots of ladies have this! After meno bleeding isn't uncommon! Most of them come out just fine - our bodies can just be wierd. And the good thing is, if it turns out to be something, you are way ahead of the game." What a relief, I think that contributed to my rapid bounce back.
It's starting to get light out. Might pull on my shoes and get in 15 minutes of greeting the morning before the skies open up again.
Lanette2 -
I managed to get myself into town on the bus this afternoon. On the way to the bus stop I made a hair appointment for tomorrow, because they had a cancellation!
M&S had the dark chocolate cherry liqueur chocolates I wanted to add to DH'S Santa presents. (Yes, Barbara) I also found, as extra gifts, some horseradish and pink peppercorn sauce and some posh line albacor tuna in a jar of olive oil. He will love those in a sandwich for lunch one day.
I added one or two things to eat before Christmas, like mince pies for DH, and then caught the bus home. Santa was driving the bus!
Now to rest before salmon and fries, mushy peas and green beans, for an early dinner. Pick up at 6.30.

Welcome, Karen. This Oregon fall has not been enjoyable. Well, the weather anyway. I've been complaining to anyone who will listen. I don't know if it's my age or my meds, but I struggle getting warm. I have a space heater in my office blowing heat on me all day, and I'm sitting right now in my living room in front of the fire. We're not used to this in our normally temperate valley.
Still love living here, but 🥶🥶🥶

Oh Beth. I'm sorry you had to go through all that yesterday. And two pregnancy tests! Good grief. I hope the issue resolves soon.
Kudos to hubby for stepping up a bit.

Machka you have done an outstanding job taking care of your DH. You deserve all the credit!
Pip no exercise? You must be feeling poorly. Hope the illness goes by fast.
My sister has a terrible ear infection. Her eardrum has a hole. She tried to go back to work yesterday but was exhausted.

Yeah, I agree, that is odd. The rest from doing anything was good. Still feel like I have a cold but feel better, now I have a sore throat, lololol3 -
Beth best wishes for a speedy recovery
Flea, I am extra chilly this year so I in addition to my usual winter indoor attire (fleece leggings under denim pants, turtle neck, cotton shirt, sweater, and wool socks) I wear a wool scarf and two knitted hats and sometimes fingerless gloves. I have a crocheted wool blanket available to put on my lap while I sit at the computer. Better to light a few candles than to curse the darkness.

Pip--Glad Kirby is better and pray you are soon. That darn cough hangs on a long time. I am still having problems coughing, mostly late afternoon and during the night. DH does too.
Tracey--Can see the family resemblance from the picture of your father. Tomorrow would be my dad's birthday.
Beth--Glad your surgery went well and pray all the lab tests come back in your favor. Please do rest and take care of yourself. I understand about the pregnancy tests. Every time I give blood at the Red Cross they ask if I am pregnet. Really at age 65.
I am glad it is Friday, going to be a busy weekend. This afternoon is the Christmas party for my department, which I will only be at very short time. As our adult church Christmas party is tonight. Always have a good time and good food. Then tomorrow afternoon is our Christian motorcycle club Christmas party. Have to wrap the gifts for that. I also pretty sure most of my shopping is done, so have to work on getting that wrapped and a couple packages to get mailed.
We lucked out and the big ice and snow storm went around us. We did have some ice, but today going to be 40;s so it will not last long.

Allie, I just read a book called "Calvin" by JR and Vanessa Ford. I think it would be a great book to read to Miles and Carmine. I got it from our library.1

I had just woken up from my nap, and was gearing myself up to cook early dinner, when my son texted to say that the dinner with his friend has been cancelled as his friend is not well. This is the guy with pericarditis from covid. Ain't life unfair. He is such a sweet guy.
So I'm going downstairs to spend our aperitif time with DH and be grateful for our health.

Very stressful day yesterday but held my temper so proud of that. 3 companies called with ineptitude from new employees, then went to get gas and the clerk gave my $25 gift card for gas to a different pump then chopped up the card. That was finally corrected but the phone calls were unproductive. Today is starting out better.

Beth Take care of yourself. Hope your recovery is smooth and happy results!
Most grateful for in the town where I live: it's safe even at night. My mom gets all nervous about the darkness, but in reality it's very safe. The neighbors are wonderful. They help with the snow shoveling. One uses our clothesline and the other brought my mom flowers for her 90th birthday.

THANK you again for the posts- so appreciate them
Procedure is done and melanoma is gone.
The shots to numb it REALLLLLY hurt- a whole lot more than my other doctor when he did the biopsies.
Have an open wound about the size of a nickle that is just covered with a bandage for this week.
Rested all afternoon after we got home and all evening.
Pain isnt too bad, just taking it easy for today.
Glad I will be out when they do the next surgery. Before, that is the one I was dreading but after the pain yesterday, that one won't be as bad- I am sure recovery will be a lot worse but not thinking about that.
Daycare girl is still home sick(sick all week so I ended up with the week off) so I don't have to go pick her up.
My reconstruction surgery is next Thursday, will take Friday off and the weekend. Will see how I am feeling if I have Ezie on Monday- She starts her three week Christmas break that day so I don't have to worry about driving anywhere for those weeks.
I plan on getting a bunch of little craft projects set up and ready for her for when she does come.
I could do a few things around here today, just being careful but going to use this as an excuse to take it easy.
Dh said he can't look at the wound so I am doing my own bandage change- not a big deal but a bit surprised. I shouldn't be. He came in the living room once to see if I needed anything. The rest of the time he was in his room or in bed. He did complain that he was super tired because he didn't get a nap(because he took me to the appointment)after working all night.
Hopefully he is a bit better after the next one. If not, I will deal with it. Also have friends who have offered to help where they can.
Need to pull out more Christmas stuff out. Storms this weekend so will see if my son can help this evening. If I don't get it out then, I will do it Monday- Just have to go for covid test Monday morning.
Going to finish my tea, catch up on posts here and then make a little breakfast.

Beth- please do take advantage of the guys and REST- if you need even a few extra days, take them.
Time for you to rest and heal.2 -
9 What are you most grateful for in the city/town where you live? The views from my commute
Heather How I wish we had at least some of your ethnic restaurants here. There are 4 Mexican, 3 Chinese, one really good pizza and one “italian deli.” No Indian, no middle eastern, not even any European choices. Jealous.
Lanette Thanks! Stress is a notorious hair disrupter. You’ve been through so much, hoping for a restorative future. What you said to Rita, she (and Machka) of the truly gorgeous heads of hair.
Kim, I’m gonna channel you and your mom today as I prep almond crescent and “cookies men love” doughs for fridge. Maybe even make rum balls.
Machka your response to Lanette’s questions about what the experts expected for your DH made tears spring to my eyes. “…remarkable”? Miraculous. You are the power of love.
Karen from OR likewise winter storm warnings down here on the coast. Possible wind gusts up to 90mph. Need to make a quick dash to Freddie’s before hunkering down for the weekend. Well done for taking both classes! The Grinch-a-mole made me laugh,
Beth healing prayers winging your way. I’d pass on tonight’s Christmas party.
Speaking of which, the fire district’s Christmas Party is tomorrow night. Finally decided not to go, but will drop off a Pioneer Woman Soul Taters sweet potato casserole that afternoon that “someone” can re-heat. Salves my conscience while minimizing contact with people. Most of the folks think they’re invulnerable and that Covid-19 is over. Not me.
Margaret, well done. Are your Santa’s helpers’/elves’ ears showing?
Flea when I can’t get warm, I toss a beach towel in the dryer. When it heats up I wrap up in that. Closest I can come to those deliciously warmed hospital blankets.
Vicki glad you dodged the ice storm. [shivers]
Rita yup, blue skies are addictive. That was one of the criteria I used when looking for a place on the coast. Turns out Brookings/Gold Beach average only 12 fewer blue sky days per year than Boise. I can do that! Brava for holding your temper in the face of so much incompetence. Well done!
Just popped in see if Debbie has checked in.

Beth: Hope you are recovering
Debbie: Glad the procedure went smoothly
Flea: Great about the scan results!
Barbie: Glad Jake got a good report. I might take a look at the line dance links!
Rori: Glad you enjoyed the NBA game!
Michele: I purchased wrapping paper at the a Dollar store...but they didn't have any ribbon or bows! Pretty amusing about putting coal in the stockings! I love the shark!
Machka: You are doing a great job caring for your husband. Exercise was probably one of the best things you could do!
Grandmallie: Miles is at a nice age for Xmas! Zero sugar spiced cranberry sprite sounds good to me!
Heather: Glad you are doing some babysitting for the family!
Annie: Glad your diet is going well!
Tina: I enjoy decorations at Christmas. The gift giving is really for children. And hopefully some day I will be a grandmother!
Karen: Glad your getting some exercise!
Barbara: Time consuming to be trying to manage some one else's health! I can relate!
Rebecca, Thank you for the Lasagna sauce recipe and Beth thank you for the Lasagna recipe. I have them both and plan to use the recipes for the luncheon. I appreciate it very much!
Well my dishwasher is having problems and my computer just had problems. The repairman is here now. I think it is fixable. I am trying to read the read the book for book club and have done most of the Christmas shopping. Just need to mail a few cards and wrap a few gifts!
Best,

DH was super reluctant to ask my son if he would be welcome at his place for the England v France game tomorrow. He never wants to impose himself. So I asked my son how he felt about it.
It turns out that DDIL and the kids are all away for the weekend at her parents, so it's just my son at home. He said DH was very welcome, but DDIL had the car, so couldn't pick him up. DH is more than happy to walk over there (30 mins) and could get a taxi back, or walk. Very cold, but .....
My son said he could come over to us, but I hate football.
So, all good, and a bit of male bonding! Plus, free time for me.

Feeling better these days. My fish truck lunch was a success for me, and for husband! He said it was the best clam chowder he's ever had. My fried fish pieces had a light crust outside, and when I bit into it, it was flaky, and dare I say juicy! Not greasy! I was in heaven. Ate two of the three pieces, and today I will mix the fish with my tilapia, fish taco sauce and put them in street tacos. Also ordered a container of Cole slaw. I only had a couple bites of it, mixed it with some plain shredded cabbage I had, along with the dipping sauce which was very close in taste to what I put in my Cole slaw. I put in a slug of vinegar. Its an old ice cream plastic bucket, and I have long since got rid of the silly handle, but it makes for a nice shaker container! So today will be a good day eating.😜😁
Yesterday I got creative. I had the mini marshmallows from Thanksgiving, peanuts from my peanut brittle making, wheat Chex cereal, dark chocolate squares, peppermint bark, so I put all in a big bowl, broke up the chocolate pieces, and drizzled warm butter over everything. Mixed it up and threw it on a baking sheet. I mixed a bit more as everything was warming, and took it out to cool. I threw the pan in the freezer, then broke it up. So though messy, its sweet and salty. I am happy, and I have two containers in the freezer to nibble on. I am less likely to chow on this, then lets say, a jar of peanuts or a bag of mini marshmallows. Those I can put on my lap, and if I am watching something on the tv, the stuff disappears! Not a great habit. But a piece of my Christmas chow, and a cup of coffee? That's snacking on something sweet to another level.🙃
Well in my world it is.😁

Lucy hit 2 milestones today. She walked right alongside of yogi or walked ahead of him the whole way! She was always the slowest and at the end. Also took her to get weighed and she hit her goal weight of 52lbs!8

Yay Lucy!
I just trimmed Teddy. His front legs are a little less hairy now, and his face is cleaner. Then I decided Enough for both of us, so his hind legs look enormous. He is half Maltese, and he spends his whole life energy growing hair. It never looks even.
