I want to emphasize again that the private group titled Women Ages 50+ and the public thread titled Women Ages 50+ for June 2023 where you are reading this post right now are two totally different things.
Joy - Thanks for sticking with the thread. In all honesty, there seems to be a spasm every third or fouth year when folks get their feathers ruffled about something, but then we go back into the usual supportive and loving interactions again. It was the driving force behind why I developed the group as being completely separate from the thread to begin with--as a sort of safety valve for those kind of communications.
Love,
Lisa
Lisa, I enjoy this thread and have gained a lot of useful information in the short time I have been here. I'm hoping it will continue to be the way it appeared when I first got on here.

Yesterday went to Jess’. Had dinner at Golden Corral. Didn’t do good on the desserts, tho. Oh well...it’s just one day. Now back to decent food. Need to call Pete today to wish him a happy father’s day. We didn’t get home until 10:30 last night and it was too late to call him.
Walked down to Food Lion to get potatoes on sale for Vince and kiwi that I had a coupon for for me (I love them). Actually, they are lower in price for kiwi than any other store.
Lanette – I find it a problem when someone has to post the whole post just to answer one part. Did I make myself sufficiently muddy? I know that sometimes it just can’t be helped, but I wish we were able to delete the parts of the post that we aren’t responding to.
Barbie – I listen to podcasts, too, on my walk. Guess I’m just the kind of person who gets bored easily and constantly needs change. Breakstone makes a low sodium cottage cheese (I think they even make a no sodium one). You might also check the sodium levels of Great Value brand. I seem to recall their sodium is on the low side.
Debbie – so glad the baby turkey will have a buddy!
Pip – hope Lucy gets better fast
laitt – welcome! Have fun on your vacation. So sorry to hear about your husband
Margeret – good thoughts for Drew B. Lovely flowers
Off to ceramics tonight. I’m supposed to pick up my kissy fish but it’s raining so I may not bring it home until tomorrow so that the box doesn’t get soaked. We’ll see what Mother Nature has in store.

Michele - on the laptop, and using the mouse, I'm able to highlight and delete everything in a quote that doesn't pertain to what I'm responding to and consequently I can tighten up the post. On my tablet, no. Not sure about a phone's capability in that area.
And speaking of Kiwi, have you ever tried the Sungold ones? Zespri brand at Walmart. Advertised as having 3 times the Vitamin C of an orange, and I like the flavor and texture better. Not quite so tart.

Well Tracy texted me and asked me if I could take care of the animals while they go away for the rest of the week as a family..
All went well until Carmine got wind of it.. and then all bets were off she got Kyle all mad and now they aren't going.. I could stay over there with her but would have to bring Alfie with me and I don't think they would want that going on.
And Carmine wouldn't listen to anything I had to say anyway and would do as she pleases.
Its wonderf how she can spoil a family short vaca.Tracy was given bereavement also.
Dan is having another day at Disneyland and having a blast and tomorrow I think is California adventure..
I have an appointment tomorrow to get a mask check for my Cpap and a script for a Travel Cpap..I will have to pay for that out of pocket but that will be worth it so don't have to lug the big one around.
Today was just a relaxing day..4 -
Lanette I got the vase in Venice when I was there in the late 70's. I gave it to my mom. When the house was prepped for sale I got it. She also bought one when she went years later. I have that one too! Love both of them. Mine is good for tall flowers hers for shorter.

Margaret ~ I 've said before, I love that vase. It is beautiful!
Lanette ~ I have often wondered why people include whole messages when they want to respond to text. Some people copy their earlier whole messages to expand on their thoughts. This may be because they are using MFP on their phones. I only use it on my PC.
My son's family is going to the Gulf this weekend and I get to keep the grand dogs. They are both huge and one sheds like crazy. Wish me luck on the clean up. When we kept them before the younger one tore up all my wicker porch furniture and the screen wire into the porch. Hopefully, they will now only sleep and go outside to do their business.

Laitt: I hope the radiation is helpful. Have a good time at Lake George. Congrats on having lost 90 pounds in the past!
Ginny: Glad you got your 4.2 mile walk in!
Betsy: Thank you for the kind message. I am very pleased I didn't have to move when Paul passed. I might have to eventually but I love that the memories are here.
Rebecca: So glad you will be home soon! What great sport you are getting in the trough!
Heather: Love the picture of the grands with the ice cream cones!
Lanette: Hope you enjoyed your friend's BBQ
Beth: Hope the new coffee pot is working out!
Annie: Good luck with your sister challenge!
KJlamore: I found the movie Delicious on Prime and intend to watch it!
Quiet day today. I worked on the taxes...I had gotten an extension...and feel quite productive. I was suppose to start a grief group but was tired and had not slept well. So I will start next week! We had some rain this afternoon and the grass outside looks very green. I am enjoying looking out the window at it!

Now that I have REAL coffee in my system (it was the coffee pot no longer heating the water correctly), I have been rereading the posts for the last few pages and wanted to make a few comments.
Flea ... thank you for sharing about your son and your faith ...
Lisa ... the work you've put into your property shows and the flowers are beautiful!
Margaret... I have hydrangeas in my side yard. Each Easter I purchase one in memory of my son (he used to buy them for me on Mother's Day) for the church and then I plant it outside in my own little memorial garden. I am astounded with how hardy they can be! I'll post a picture when they are in bloom. This year's, of course, is past bloom and just setting down roots now.
Rita ... don't you dare go anywhere! Your posts are some of the most calming! Just scroll, scroll, scroll ...
Rebecca ... my goodness, how did falling bring so much pain to both feet? Did you fall onto something? Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit with your sister and her family!
I'm heading into the basement now to gather things up for a church's annual mission garage sale this week. I have a lot of been setting aside and I also want to go through a large (very large) pile of throws/blankets. We are over-run with them. I'll see how many my guys will let me get rid of ... they are both very sentimental about stuff ...but really, how many do you need?

Pretty much just my left ankle turned and I landed on the left side of my left foot. My right foot is ok, though scraped up. My right foot has a toe that had gotten broken over many years ago. It was reset with surgery, it tends to get red when I wear flip flops. I was using crutches 16th, 17th and some of the 18th but today I am just walking slow and careful.

Good movie on Netflix "A Man Called Otto". What I just finished watching was "Breaking Bad" followed by "Better Call Saul" They are two exceptional series but violence, language, and questionable morals may not be appealing to some.
Barbie in NW WA
Loves these two series. Better Call Saul, I became so emotionally vested in the characters! Saul was so endearing. With Breaking Bad it was Jessie. Such a sweet kid, trying to have people like him for him. Gaaah, when he got kidnapped so sad! 💖👍🏼

It is violent and just wrong in so many ways. LOL. I haven’t watched all of Better Call Saul, just the first 4 seasons I think.

Hi.
We've just had to evacuate our room so the helicopter can land outside our window for a medical emergency. Don't know what happened to the person but it's now 12.40 am . DH was asleep!
We had a problem when we talked to the butler because he said the company had stopped the grand suites from ordering posh wine to have with their dinner. We so enjoyed our champagne and excellent reds last year. We can have it in our room but not at dinner.
While we were evacuated, the hotel manager came to check that we were OK, so I said how disappointed we were. She then said that we would be able to have it as a special favour and because we eat at a separate table for two.
So , success!
Otherwise, just knackered. Very. We were going to get up early for the gym, but I'm cancelling the alarm and giving myself a break for one day..
The good news is, there are watercolour classes again. !!!!!
Hope this posts. WiFi slow.

After watching "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" be sure to watch "El Camino" on Netflix. It follows Jesse after the explosion on "Breaking Bad "5

Good evening ladies!
Today, day 4 of my sister challenge, I ate 1108 calories. Yay! And I rode my bike for twenty minutes, and did an hour of yoga, and thirty minutes of aerobic walking. Yay! So my deficit is 473. Yay!
The aerobic walking was tough. I couldn't find my usual video so I used a new one and it was terrible. The instructor wore black against a black background, and the camera kept zooming into her face. Then when they panned out, they put labels over her legs. So it was a real challenge to see what she was doing. And the music had a very indistinct beat. Then halfway through, she said everyone pull out your exercise bands. Well I didn't have the right kind. But I made it through.
All in all, a great day for diet and exercise. Yay!

It helped that it was a warm day, and we had been playing hide and seek! The three great nieces hid on the property and my sister and I were in the gator zooming around! It was awesome!

Lanette – Zespri kiwi are the only ones I buy. To me, too, the others are too bitter
Allie – I remember when we were going to go to MO to bury MIL’s ashes, we had the plane reservations and all. Denise gave us such a stink Vince got physically sick and canceled the whole trip. Yes, I was sick to my stomach, but I went to the Y and really exercised. I did stand by the door to be able to make a bee line for the bathroom just in case. Fortunately, it wasn’t needed. I felt so much better when I got home. I didn’t totally understand your post. If they were going to go away as a family, doesn’t that include Carmine? Was it that she didn’t want to go?
Jess’ dog is SO mellow, it’s uncanny. When we got there yesterday, he didn’t bark at all. He’s only 4 but you’d never know it. Maybe it’s because he has diminished eyesight, I don’t know. But he is so calm, you almost don’t know that he’s around
Carol – good luck with the granddogs
Don’t ask me to explain it, but for some reason my pedometer isn’t counting the steps. Yet, it’s keeping the time so I know there isn’t a problem with the battery. Reset it, but it still isn’t keeping the steps. Sometimes I’m just curious as to how many steps I take per day. Like when I cut the grass. So right now we took the battery out a few hours ago and we’ll see what it’s like when we put the battery back in.
Went to ceramics tonight and picked up my kissy fish. Brought him home. Here’s a picture of him

Good evening everyone. I’m trying to remember to come here and read the posts ever day. Looks like of you have made some great connections.
Looks like my husbands scan to confirm the metastasis is booking out until July 19. Let’s us enjoy our vacation before we get into planning his next treatment options.
Today was a busy one. Got groceries, folded laundry, cleaned the kitchen, learned how to use the grill 😀, helped my husband with his clothes for the trip (folded and sorted), then did my own, repotted a plant and read a book. I kept busy.
I hope you all had a great day.

It's been weighing on me for a couple days and I've kept quiet, but today's the day. It's really naïve of everyone here to think that everyone IS truly who they say they are! I mean sure, we all are probably who we are, but Kim was only bringing up a point the other day that we have to be careful and she got told that it was "unbecoming". IT was NOT. It was simply a point. Mary was simply copy/pasting information from one thread, within this GROUP, to another thread within this GROUP, to make a point. Truthfully, something anyone could do anywhere and beyond this group. And here's my point. We all post things here and on other threads within 50+ that we may or may not want to get out onto the WWW. So please, pay attention. As I've said before, my life's an open book. Anything I've posted here, goes out. But if you don't want it out "there", don't post it here either, because you DON'T know (for certain) who everyone is.
Completely agree with Mary's spoiler. ALL of you should go back and read it carefully... several times. Just sayin'. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/47526728/#Comment_47526728
Some of us choose to keep our mouths closed on a regular basis not to get any back-talk on this thread and some of us don't mention when others break the rules not to cause any drama. I'm a MoM. (Marine Mom) and we're TAUGHT NOT TO TRUST!!! I think Rebecca will agree with me on this point.
Alright, I'm done.

This ... what we're posting in now ... is not a group. It's a thread within an open forum that can be googled by anyone from anywhere.
Groups are more private than threads.
See explanation ...Just pulling this out of the Group before the Group is deleted ...
MyFitnessPal has several sections. One section is where we go to enter our exercise and food and to participate on the newsfeed with our friends. Another section is the forum.
The MFP forum contains several subforums or "Categories".
Within each subforum or "Category", there are a whole lot of threads. For example, within the Motivation and Support subforum or "Category", there is a long collection of Women Ages 50+ {month, year} threads. And Barbie starts a new thread each month.
Within each thread, there are lots of posts.
That's how we see it because there is a reasonably decent user interface for us to work with.
However, all the posts from all the threads go into a table in a database behind the scenes (pretty much).
Search engines and others who might be interested in forum data see the table in the database.
Many forum tables and databases aren't protected and are freely available to search engines, etc.
In the case of our Groups here, the posts go into a protected table in the database (or a different database), so search engines etc. have a harder time seeing what's posted. Some whole forums have that level of protection ... they'll be the ones you have to sign up for before you can see the subforums, threads, and posts.
Forum data on it's own is probably mostly not that interesting, but it may become interesting through data linkage.
Incidentally, if you want a look at the MyFitnessPal rules go here:

I planted Shasta daisies last year and they are just about ready to bloom. Just one plant but looking forward to seeing it bloom.

I'm trying to get Swan River daisies going, but so far I haven't had any luck. I will try again this spring.

I for one, though a Navy wife and momma, have befriended many of you, and you are family to me. You have been with me (in my mental back pocket) as I drove by myself from the coastal home to Portland's OHSU hospital, after husbands many illness scares. You have gotten me thru many dark moments when I was tired of being a caregiver and missed being a wife again. Sadly Carla I may have to disagree with you. And that's perfectly ok, no worries. I am a trusting soul, and I do tend to see the world through rose colored glasses, but what a great world I see. I write to pen pal friends I personally have never met, sharing bits of our lives, and I consider myself a loyal friend to many. I am in the drivers seat of what info I give out and take in.👍🏼💖🤗

We can, of course ... but it is quite difficult to do that when replying using a phone. Especially when riding a bus.
Anyway, how people choose to post isn't really that important. If that's your biggest issue today, you're having a great day!

Super nice up there.
They were happy to get it. They had a single baby turkey already and it needed a buddy so worked out. It was so cute and thought about keeping it but knew it wasn't the best for it and what would I do with a full grown turkey!!

Would love some support on my weight loss journey. Prior to the start of the pandemic I had lost 90#. Put it all back on and then some. May last year I started again and got down 47#. Then my mom passed away and I lost all my will power and gained quite a bit back. I’m back on track since March and have lost 28#. Slow and easy. Walking more now that my hip is bothering less. Going to be stressful as it appears on a new scan that my husbands cancer has likely spread further into his spine. More testing in a couple weeks to confirm, then I believe he’ll start radiation. Need to maintain what control I have by keeping on track with my eating and walking. Before that, my husband and I will be going on vacation to Lake George where we’ve rented an RV for 10 days. Lots of outdoor time and great waking trails.
I hope you have had a great weekend.
Welcome here.
I'm sorry about all the stress you've been under. I understand stress and how we can gain weight in those situations.
Slow and easy ... that's the way.2
