I recently hit a goal and would have loved that! Any ideas how I can get that?
As far as I am aware, MFP put a comment like the one below on your newsfeed when you post your weight.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Debbie - I was at my mother's in 1998, and it was about dusk when my now-ex-husband, native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, called me at her house. He and I had recently moved to Texas, and the old farmhouse we rented wasn't really to his taste, I think. He called to tell me that a "giant pi$$ed-off rat" was standing on the back porch hissing at him. He had ever seen a possum, and was a bit unnerved, I'm thinking. They're not pretty varmints.
Lanette - I was not fond of chickens growing up, for a number of reasons, but these chickens were in a chicken yard with the grass long gone, leaving them scratching chicken feed up in the dirt and mud and chicken excrement. The smell was the worst for me, and after my brothers grew up, it was me and my sister out there trying to execute one of them for dinner on a regular basis. The current social chicken-izing sounds altogether more pleasant!
Heather - Those floors are gorgeous! I hope there's time to get things closer to finished before they move back in. Living in a construction zone is just not fun. Renovation jobs almost always overrun both the cost and completion time, it seems. Every one I've done with Corey has, at any rate.
Speaking of which, Beth, hope your siding project is going OK. So pleased your birthday celebration with your mother was a wonderful thing, and so well deserved for you both.
Karen in VA - Hope all's well. Miss your posts, dear heart.
My daughter and the grands are safely in Hawaii, so one stressor done for now.
Punishingly hot here today again, already nearly 80F (27C), with 81% humidity, and exceeding 100 (38) for the next ten days in the forecasts. Will get out at first light to get some water on Corey's garden and my flowers and hope to eke them through the worst of this. Watering every other day, but it may not save them. After ten days, we will probably be under water restrictions, as well. Speaking of which, there's enough light out there now to get things going.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Hello my friends!
My dad seems much better, thank you. But he wouldn't say anything if he had minor issues so who knows. I got him a follow up doctor appointment for next week, after a long phone call.
It's lovely to have my sister here. She is very observant and sees the little things I do. It feels good to be appreciated.
The big chore today is to pack for my Dad for the trip to Maine for my Aunt's funeral. My mom always did all his packing, and she might be able to help some.
My diet and exercise are taking a break this week. Yesterday I had ice cream and cake for my Dad's birthday. He is eighty- nine. I hope to at least ride my bike today. I slept long and well last night, so that was great.
Have a great day ladies!

Lisa One of the rare times DrewB barked was at a possom. Neighbors were leaving garbage out in bags for awhile in their yard. Yes those neighbors! The possom went into freeze mode. They look worse than they act. They are great for eating ticks and are great mothers. They will only attack if provoked. Because they eat ticks I am happy to have them around.3

Ginny: 🤞for the scan
Tracey: Delighted with your news. I think you will be really good as an EA.
Heather: Bravo on taking the bull by the horns and booking. 🥰 the boxes.
Lisa in AR: Your username is how I think of you. And your writing style is very distinctive. 😂
@healingmysticmelody Welcome to the group. Your username reminded me of Mystic Meg who used to be an astrologer on UK TV.
News: I watch one news bulletin daily at most. They’re all mostly repeats anyway. DH watches more, so,I know he will update me if anything mega occurs. We don’t buy newspapers. DH used to get an online daily, but I mostly read it for the games pages.

Morning peeps
Well, I think I’m finally done with all the projects i wanted to do. Back to normal life.8 -
re: news- I stopped watching the news about 8 years ago. I found it made me angry and depressed and I worried about things about which I could do very little to nothing. I now, get the majority of my news from articles that I look up on a site I trust to be the most unbiased. Reading the news is a LOT less stressful/dramatic. DH is an avid newswatcher. All day long. He is also chronically depressed and angry. His choice.5

Morning ladies

Thank you all for the warm welcome you extended to me. I really appreciated all the comments and encouragement. I will continue to read for a while until I get more of a sense of everyone, then I will start to make comments (after taking written notes).
Yesterday was a good day for me. I was able to stay outside for a total of about 3 - 4 hours, but finally had to come in at about 3:00 pm, the heat was getting to me, and I was pretty tired after mowing the grass in the backyard (riding lawn mower), weed eating, bush whacking, raking and straightening out a garden hose which had become locked into the weeds and was all twisted. The hose part doesn't sound like much, but it was a long and heavy hose, and very tangled. I finally had to stretch it out across the grass and work on each kink individually, just so that I could get it onto the new reel. The temps here haven't been nearly as bad as they are in other parts of the country, but for us, it was extremely hot and humid - in the mid 80's. I lived in Georgia (USA) for quite a while and in Florida, but heat is something I can no longer handle at all. I guess age and living in a colder climate for 16 years has lowered my tolerance to it. Once I have the surgery, though, all this will have to stop until next year. Depending on the weather, I may be able to do a few things in November, but that is about all. I'll miss it during the winter, getting outside and accomplishing things in the yard is really a good escape for me. I'll keep on doing as much as I can, but it will be limited even when my feet have healed.
One thing for sure, working outside like I have been has definitely increased my step count, and dropped the weight! A nice side benefit. Wonder what will happen when I am recuperating and not able to move around much? Scary thought!!!!

Beth--I am like you in the fact if I try and set goals then it's like I am on a mission to break them and do the opposite. I am just taking it one day at a time and do my best. Stress eating is getting me right now and I know I have to find a way to stop it.
Lisa--Sorry to hear about your daughter's experience. But she showed her daughter that the right thing to do was help when you can.
Tracey--If you were closer I would hire you for sure. Problems with help seems to be a problem all over and hard to find people that are dependable.
I dropped DH at the airport before work this morning. I do hope he has a good trip and the convention goes well. I am going to enjoy me time until he returns late Sunday night. I work 12 hours today and 6 hours tomorrow. Have doctor appointment after work and then I am free. More than likely I will stay close to home with temps at 100-105 staying inside works for me. I have projects I can do.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE It was 82 at 5 this morning when I came to work.5 -
Kayne - good for you getting all of that exercise yesterday. I can testify that having been away from super hot weather, anything over 75 or 80 makes it hard to work outside. Would you mind telling us exactly what kind of foot surgery you'll be having? I have a painful toe that I've been taping for a while - which helps, don't want to go to the podiatrist because he likes to talk shots and surgery. Hopefully after your surgery, you'll be referred to a Physical Therapist who can give you ideas on how to remain active while healing.
Tracey - I called the auction house, and they uploaded everything for sale - it was either yesterday or this morning. I want to look but yet I don't, lol. The gal seemed to think everything would sell the first round. If I make any money at all, I want to invest in a treadmill or some piece of exercise equipment I can use this winter. And put it out in the shop office that now has room.
I thought that cartoon was cute. I have a friend in Austin Texas whose HVAC went out yesterday and he sent me the same cartoon, he would have substituted TX if he could have. Luckily the repairman showed up in 2 hours. I bet the HVAC repairmen are super busy these days.
Vicki - I know that for you, training and keeping employees is like a broken record. I was so sorry to hear one of your "old timers" was retiring. Staffing was one of my biggest challenges... the phones can't go unanswered. Stay cool - sending good wishes that your husband has a safe trip and the convention goes well for him.
Kelly - same here - for a while my DH would watch the news, get angry and depressed and I just got tired of hearing it. That's why I rarely watch it. That and the endless commercials, lol. I get an email "news overview" that is fairly unbiased and provides links to some stories I find interesting.
Heather - once in a while a friend posts an article from "The Guardian". UK reporters cover the news about happenings in the US but often with a different slant. Kind of fun to read what other countries report about what we are up to. Glad your son's house is nearing completion. What a long haul for them. Love those floors - are they real wood? If you get tired of your rain, please send some over here to North America.
Apples: I'm already seeing fallen Gravenstein apples. They are small and red - not quite ripe BUT not exactly green either. Adding a small one to my diet each day. They are about 2 weeks early. Looks like there will be a ton this year - making up for last year's shortfall. I plan to make my own apple cider vinegar - my grandmother always made her own. I found a recipe online and am anxious to try it.
Lisa - I got the chills reading about Kelsey's CPR experience at the airport. I can't remember but seems that her specialty is medic or something related? Sorry about her ex and the attitude. Bet she's glad to have the kids back with her and that he's going to get his wages garnished if he doesn't shape up.
My hens' little run is dry and dusty even though I spread straw in it now and then. It gives them something to scratch in. Glad they can go out from time to time right now and get green grass and weeds. By the way, my grandparents had hundreds of chickens and quite often grandpa would go out to the coop to grab one for supper. This might be TMI so I'll put it in a spoiler:He'd hold the hen under one arm, and with his pocket knife, decapitate her in about 2 seconds. Head went one direction, body flopped in the other direction. I butchered plenty of hens years ago - tied their feet together, used a chopping block and hatchet. I won't go into the rest of the gory details, lol. I could probably do it again to a chicken I haven't named and raised from a tiny chick.
Possums: When we first moved to this subdivision, there were a lot and one took up residence under the potting shed. I always thought they were beneficial and gave them a lot of room to do their thing. I always bring the chicken feed in at night to discourage them and raccoons from trying to break into the chicken run for a free meal.
I think I mentioned, I've been watching reruns of "Alone" on warm afternoons where the contestants are freezing and snow is flying. Cools me off right there, lol.
I sure got a lot of exercise yesterday and need to get back at it. Think I mentioned, the shop might not be able to work in my Sube until next week - I need a new stepladder and think I can cram one into the Camry. Will hit Home Depot tomorrow morning and bring the tape measure. They have some cute young employees there that are really helpful and crafty about making things fit.
OK better get busy. Make it a fabulous day!

I hope I didn't leave the impression that I was opposed to people staying current on the news. I stay away from the news because it raises my anxiety level. I learned years ago to take inventory of what I find disturbing and seek ways that I can change things to be less disturbed. If you love the news, you should watch and listen and if it's upsetting perhaps you should avoid it like I do.
Barbie in NW WA
I avoid the news as much as I can. My DH loves watching it and reading it on his phone. I’m fine with small doses or none. My anxiety and depression levels are high enough without the news. I never did get into the news. When i used to get newspapers, I got them for the coupons and comics!

1. Take a small step to help overcome a problem or worry. I am working on helping my son through this tough time by being in contact with his case worker and tracking his location.
2. Adopt a growth mindset. Change “I can’t” into “I can’t…yet”. I try to never use those words. I follow Yoda’s ‘Do or not, there is no try”
3. Be willing to ask for help when you need it. I will. My back hurts today so will easily ask for help when I need it.
4. Find something to look forward to today. Missed posting this yesterday. So today I am looking forward to my therapy session.
5. Get the basics right: eat well, exercise and go to bed on time. Will do!
6. Pause, breathe, and feel your feet firmly on the ground. Will meditate today to help me do this.
7. Shift your mood by doing something you really enjoy. I really need to do this today. Did not do this. Had a bad day all around yesterday.
8. Avoid saying “must” or “should” to yourself today. I will try.
9. Put a problem in perspective by seeing the bigger picture. Trying to see my son’s decisions through his eyes.
10. Reach out to someone you trust and share your feelings with them. I did not do this.
11. Look for something positive in a difficult situation. My son is bonding with his uncle and grandmother.
12. Write you worries down and save them for a specific “worry time”. I will try to remember to do this. Write them in my journal.
13. Challenge negative thoughts. Find an alternative interpretation. I worked on this. I also learned a breathing technique to help.
14. Get outside and move to help clear your head. I do this every day, but the triple digit heat is preventing it.
15. Set yourself an achievable goal and take the first step. I have to think about this.
16. Find fun ways to distract yourself from unhelpful thoughts. Controlled breathing helped here.
17. Use one of your strengths to overcome a challenge today. I use tenacity often so expect to use it here.
18. Let go of the small stuff and focus on the things that matter. I will try!
19. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. I need to really remember this!
20. When things go wrong, pause and be kind to yourself. I will definitely try.
21. Identify what helped you get through a tough time in your life. Therapy, someone to talk to, long walks alone all help me through tough times, medication as well.
22. Find 3 things you feel hopeful about and write them down. 1. I hope my son makes good decisions. 2. I am hopeful that I will find the right place to retire. 3. I am hopeful that I will be able to visit family very soon.
23. Remember that all feelings and situations pass in time. I won’t dwell on things or situations that happen causing me bad feelings.
25. Notice when you are being judgmental and be kind instead. I will be aware of judging and simply accept.
26. Catch yourself over-reacting and take a deep breath. I am teaching myself to do this through my meditations.
27. Write down 3 things you are grateful for (even if today was hard). 1. My family 2. I have a roof over my head 3. More than enough food to eat.28. Think about what you can learn about a recent problem.
29. Be a realistic optimist. Focus on what could go right.,
30. Reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague for support.
31. Remember we all struggle at times. It’s part of being human.

Speaking of possums, I walked my dog at 3AM last night and was surprised it was still 75 degrees out! While walking, we came faced-to-face with a raccoon. My dog went bonkers and the raccoon ran away and fell in the water in the canal beside us. It came back up looking pathetic all wet, looked at us, looked at the water, then scampered away on the edge of the water. It was funny at 3 AM!

My great niece called me yesterday asking if she could stay with us for a week. She started out with the conversation saying, remember when you said if you were with me I would have you more active and get you in shape? I did remember that and so she wanted to come over.I told her she could come over, no problem but warned her we get up early to walk the dogs, we don’t eat fast food or drink sodas etc. I told her I wouldn’t expect her to walk the whole 6 miles the first day and that I wasn’t going to kill her but I wasn’t going to coddle her either. Told her we have a pool so she will be able to go swimming and relax if she wanted to. This will be interesting… she’s 14 and is overweight but I told her it’s in her best interest to get a grip now because it will only be harder as she gets older. I called my sister (her grandmother) and told her about the call and she said that she doesn’t think she will last 3 days. I told her I wasn’t going to take her back early (lives about 40 miles away) but will after the week is up. Wondered if she was serious our just wanted to get away from her mom. She said they have talked to her about her weight on various occasions and said the only person capable of helping her out was me.
I am going to get her weight at the start.
Going to calculate what her active and maximum heart rate should be
Going to let her use my Apple Watch so we can see what her heart rate is like
May create a MFP account for her and show her how to use it. This way she can really see what she’s putting in her body.
May create a Strava account so she can log her walking distance and be her friend on that app so I can see how she is progressing from here.

Tracey ... add me to those who have now dreamt about you! I only vaguely remember the dream, but know that you invited my husband and I to join your family for a dinner/party, you were very kind and were showing us some kind of craft you were working on, and the dream left me feeling good ....
Funny you should ask about hiring people to help with the siding. I did just that yesterday and nearly lost my head! Pride is an awful thing! Husband insists he will get it done and save us money! Lol.

The news ... my husband has it on constantly and like some other husbands mentioned gets angry and depressed watching it. I read a relative unbiased source in the morning and follow links when interested. I am not uninformed. I just refuse to be inundated with someone else's viewpoint. Sometimes I put the local channel on before Jeopardy to watch the local weather.

Lanette - Yes, Kels is medical admin and training cadre, designs, supports and troubleshoots the training set ups for the forward and combat surgical hospitals in the field, among many other hats. More stuff, wherein I get a little fluffy over my daughter:We and the kids got to go see her in full battle gear during exercises in the field for "family day" when we lived with her for six months in North Carolina. Her now-ex was deployed to Syria for six months, and we went to assist with the kids. She did something else within the job description in Kansas - evidently her MOS (job title) covers a range of things, and I know she was doing resiliency training, among other things.
I stunk on ice in the military, as I always struggled with authority figures that I couldn't respect. For her, the Army has been the best possible career, and she thrives in medical battalions. Started her nursing degree in Kansas, too. I just spoke to her for the last hour--she's doing OK... needed some verbal processing for herself, kept waking up last night to the sounds and visuals and feelings of the CPR event. Amazing woman... I always hoped I'd have a daughter to love, and certainly got that, but I didn't know I'd admire and respect her, too.

I was also raised with animals as utilitarian parts of living and survival (dogs and cats, too). And pretty much feel the same about chickens as you do. For the squeamish, look away!We honestly had bacon wrapped up in the freezer with names written on them from the contributing pig. They were all named after my mother's female relatives, Flossie, Lorraine and Belle--my father's sense of humor tended toward the macabre.
We kids also raised a calf each to full grown, sold a couple and a couple were processed by Mr. Penny down the road, the meat manager at the Piggly Wiggly in town, and they added to the freezer as well. It was a different life. I don't think I'd mind too much having to ask a chicken to give their all, named or not. More like a really nice gift from a friend.

Tracey ~ I meant to say that your dragon (?) piece of ceramics is going to beautiful. Love all the colors and can't imagine how much work went into it.
Machka ~ The governor's mansion is lovely. I have always love going into older estates that have been opened to the public like the Biltmore House and Flagler museum in St Augustine.
Growing up in rural Georgia, we always had meat provided by pigs, chickens, and cows.
