Heather - I think until someone experiences pain for no reason they can’t understand it themselves. I also think men just don’t know how to deal with us in weaker moments.
Kelly - your grandsons are growing fast.
Barbie - how exciting to get a new dog. I think it’s probably a necessity now for the application process to be rigorous.
Lanette - I’m sure your DH just wasn’t eating enough. That seems to be common in a lot of people nearer the end.
Vicki - I don’t know if you remember all of the hip and back pain I have had since our daughters wedding in 2019z. No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of the pain. Surprisingly, since I’ve been away from work on sick leave I’m having many pain free days. Stress slowly kills us.
I know, like me, you are a very conscientious employee but you do need to think about taking care of you.
I have never followed a diet that restricted anything or made it off limits completely. One reason is because I’m so fussy that I would probably starve. Secondly, all of my grandparents lived into their 90’s and ate what they wanted in moderation.
That’s also what the dietitian told us when we saw her for DH’s diabetes.
Rebecca - I love your sign.
Rosemarie - I would bet that you’re so tired after being “on guard” for so long caring for your husband. My Aunt had a husband that was bedridden for 3 years before he passed. She used to say she slept for the next 3.
Lisa - I’ve had that happen at Amazon and been told to enjoy it. Hopefully you get the same answer.
I have to brag on my DH a bit. Since I’ve started classes. On his days off he has the coffee machine all ready for me when I wake up. I just have to choose a cup and hit a button.
Today I got into his truck after dropping mine off for another expensive repair and he had 80’s and 90’s country music playing. This was such a nice surprise, he like classic rock and grumbles about country. He sang along and even asked me if I remembered different times that we heard a particular song.
I need to find a way to thank him and tell him how much I appreciate it. If I get too mushy he’ll stop. 😂
We went out to our daughter’s today, she looks sad, but says she’s feeling ok and that she’ll get through it. I love that her and her DH can really share their emotions together. This wasn’t always so, they have worked really hard on it.
I have my PowerPoint presentation ready for tomorrow. I am nervous, but I’ll get through it.
The music hubby played today was on Sirius XM and they announced that tonight they would be playing the top 30 songs in the last year of 1987. That is the year we were married so I’be been listening all evening and haven’t heard it. I may try to find that list and create a playlist for myself.
It was 31C today and now of course there is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect. I normally don’t go to bed when those are on, but I’m tired and stressed about tomorrow so may go to sleep anyway.
Heard from HR today, she now wants a call at 11 tomorrow. I’m trying to figure out if I want to or if I just want to communicate through email. I have a suspicion that I will be on speaker and recorded without my knowledge. It’s something I know has been done before.

Tracey - That's me! I cannot believe I am so old. Most of the time I feel about 45, but I am FAR happier than I was then.
My 70s have been the happiest time of my life. They say that youth is wasted on the young. I spent much of my life being utterly miserable and depressed. Not all the time, but that's another story.
Planning on painting Max this pm. I've done a drawing, but want more of an expressionistic look.

Lanette-the tooth is history. Extraction went well. Minimal pain today. Needs to heal until December to check out implant. Your chickens are wild ladies!
Busy couple of days-nothing exciting here. Food pantry last night in the rain. Had lots of people come out, some of them new. Had several share some of their pain right now-no child care suddenly (cost is horrible), sudden loss of spouse of nearly 50 years (he shared her funeral bulletin), physical pain. The lady and I doing intake had to give them each a few minutes for some human touch. It really makes you grateful for what you have. One of our regulars, the wife has some form of dementia-he is so devoted to her. She was unable to come yesterday. Evidently she worked in yard pulling weeds all day and was very agitated by evening. You could see the worry in his eyes that he is losing her.
Working from home today. Plan on going to watch twins play football Friday (youth league). That should be fun and is only 30 minutes away.
Off to get ready for walk. Take care all

I'm back home in WA with my sister. She has appointments at the cancer center. Feels good to be home. Covid was an experience. I was so sick for about ten days with head and body aches. My doctor prescribed Paxlovid but I quit taking it because it gave me an upset stomach and diarrhea. Feels good to have that behind me.

Had a fun time painting after lunch. I was so nervous about it, but I think Max turned out OK.
I also did a little collage for my Facebook page.
They all have such different personalities!

Tracey - I'm with Karen, have them put it in an email. Glad your daughter is hanging in there, I know it's not been easy for any of you.
Betsy - Good to see you posting, glad your bout with Covid is done and hope your sister is doing well.
Heather - I like the picture of Max, as well as Bea and Edie.
KJ - Lord help me, they grow so fast...
Allie - Thanks for the pic of the crossbody bag... All kinds of ideas are helpful.
This is my third shot at this post; I keep walking away without hitting "save draft," and losing my posts.
Just a domestic morning so far, laundry, dishes, etc. The 100-degree-plus weather begins tomorrow, due to run for at least seven days. Erk. Still, there's lots I'd still like to do inside before DS and his fiancée get here next Friday. This week was supposed to be deep cleaning, but coming off the steroids really knocked me off my pins--looks like that will be next week instead.
It appears we will be keeping the Amazon air conditioning unit, which frees me up to have the Walmart unit returned (and picked up for free by FedEx!) All's well that ends well.
Right now, there's laundry to fold... jeans and towels are out on the line, so that will be an hour or two before they're dry.
Hope everyone's having or had a lovely Friday,
Love y'all!

Good morning, ladies.
Thunderstorm last night and got close to 1/2 inch of rain. Thankfully no hail. It had cooled down quite a bit before the rain started. Picked green beans and peas yesterday and they are sitting in the fridge. Will blanch everything this afternoon as off to get the mail later this morning.
Very pleased with the dog groomer I found in our small town (less than 1000 people). She is 22 years old and started her little business a couple of years ago. Works out of her home. Did a very nice job and took her time making sure Lucy was comfortable with her.
Working on my second cup of coffee waiting for DH to finish his breakfast.
Enjoy the day.

1. Set an intention to be kind to others (and yourself) this month. I plan to be kind to people I meet and to myself. Not just this month but all the time. It may not be every time, but I will try.
2. Send an uplifting message to someone you can’t be with. I will text my best friend who lives in Michigan, and my friend that lives in NY. Did this
3. Be kind and supportive to everyone you interact with. I did this!
4. Ask someone how they feel and really listen to their reply. I plan to try to remember to do this. Done!
5. Spend time wishing for other people to be happy and well. Will meditate and do this through a loving-kindness meditation.
6. Smile and be friendly to the people you see today. Will do!
7. Give time to help a project or cause you care about. I volunteer at Bottomless Lakes State park and also belong to the ‘Friends of’ group and am on the board as secretary. Does this count?
8. Make some tasty food for someone who will appreciate it. My DH does all the cooking. Perhaps i will look for something KETO to cook. Otherwise, we give food to our co-host often.
9. Thank someone you’re grateful to and tell them why. I will!
10. Check in with someone who may be lonely or feeling anxious. Checked in with my son.
11. Share an encouraging news story to inspire others. Did this at ER when the diagnosis was given.

13. No plans day! Be kind to yourself so you can be kind to others too. I need the rest!
14. Take an actions to be kind to nature and care for our planet. Will do! Need to de-stress!
16. Make a thoughtful gift as a surprise for someone. Will have to think about this! Did not do this.
17. Be kind online. Share positive and supportive comments. Will do!
18. Today, do something to make life easier for someone else. I will.19. Be thankful for your food and the people who make it possible.
20. Look for the good in everyone you meet today.

22. Give people the gift of your full attention.
23. Share an article, book, or podcast you find helpful.
24. Forgive someone who hurt you in the past.
25. Give your time, energy, or attention to someone in need.
26. Find a way to ‘pay it forward’ or support a good cause.
27. Notice when someone is down and try to brighten his day. (My DH’s birthday. He always gets depressed on this day. Worse this year as he turns 70 today).
28. Have a friendly chat with someone you don’t know very well.
29. Do something kind to help in your local community.
30. Give away something to those who don’t have as much as you.

The best predictor of the future or future behavior is the past. If until this point the relationships, hobby, friendship, job, etc. has not served you in any positive regard, it likely won't in the future.
— YALDA SAFAI, MD, MPHA Word From Verywell
Sunk cost fallacy can be tricky to wrap your head around, and it’s not without nuance. For more clarity in these complex decision-making moments, completely disregard how much you’ve already invested so that it doesn’t hold influence. Then, look at the facts.
Are you satisfied? Have you repeatedly been met with dead ends? Is there still potential for a positive outcome if you continue investing your resources and energy? What are the benefits of walking away and opening a new door? These are the factors that should influence your decision rather than any previously sunk costs.2 -
Joy, finding a dog groomer that you and Lucy like is liking finding a gold mine.
Lisa, I am a fan of Amazon and delighted to hear that they said to just keep the air conditioner
Heather amazing pictures
Lanette I'm glad that poodle got a home right away. Wouldn't that Eglu chicken home be great. Too bad it's so expensive. Your girls have found a great home.
Betsy, Glad to hear that you are back in Washington and done with Covid.
Allie, Jake talks about once a week to his second ex wife who lives in Missouri. She tells him he is the best friend she has right now. She always sends greetings to me even though we've never met. Neither of his other two ex wives will even speak to him not even the one who is the mother of his children. As you have found out, relationships are funny things.
Jake is in charge of the hunt for a dog. Yesterday the shelter wrote back that they wanted photos of the fencing in our yard. We would have to put chicken wire or something around the bottom if we had a small puppy.. We never leave a dog unattended in the yard and we told them that. They might not like us for a small breed puppy bur there might be another slightly larger dog that we'd like The whole dog hunting thing is in the hand of a higher power. Our job is to wait.
It is interesting to notice what things are important to each of us. Some things that are important to many of you, are meaningless to me and certainly some of what is important to me is meaningless to you. I think what's important is to put the most energy into the things that are important and let the others wait.
Jake noticed yesterday that I hadn't written down what's for lunch today so he chose. We're going to the Taco Time drive through for tostada salads. I love the chicken salad in the tortilla bowl because there is so much to "play with" while eating the salad. It is entertaining and delicious.

I love helping at the food program when I visit mom. I hate being up at 4AM but every other part of it I really enjoy. It is hard moving all the produce around and I am exhausted by the time we get home around 11- 11:30AM It is all worth it. We give out so much food each Saturday. Most get about 2 banana boxes full of frozen, fresh meats, dairy, bakery and produce along with the shelf stable
Most are very grateful for what we give them. There are around 150 that go through, some times more.5
