That is too funny! If only brown rice was brownies  I was hilariously sore in my arms from Shred Level 2. It was those stupid v fly things that were killing me with the 5 pounders haha. I think tomorrow will be a No more Trouble Zones day. Haven't tried that one yet so wish me luck
Yeah I don't like getting up in the morning to work out but I love when it is over and I can get on with my day! So rewarding  That is great that you lost 2 pounds and hopefully it will stick. Can't wait to hear what your BF is when you go back! I am sure it will be down.0 -
So NMTZ wasn't something you were feeling?? I can't remember what that's ones like haven't done it in eons.
I up'd us to Butt Bible Level 2...my sister grumbled 'we haven't even graduated level 1 after 1 session doing it!' I said we have to make the most use of our time... But I know my booty will be feeling it tomorrow. I'm going to earn that massage on Friday for sure!!
Valentine's night was an epic fail for me. My mom had the kids make brownies and chocolate covered strawberries (probably my two favorite treats!!) because they wanted to have a valentine's day 'party'. Oh it felt like a party by the time I went to bed. :blushing:  Back on track tonight. We'll pretend this one a 'spike' day...and get back to good eats all day today. So glad that I refused left overs for a dessert at lunch!!0 -
Well NMTZ is a bunch of circuits without a much cardio. I was thinking the circuits would be more like 30DS and or Ripped in 30 where you would alternate a cardio move with a weight move but that wasn't the case. Some were definately harder than others but because of all the ab work (2 of the circuits) and the mat section (1 circuit) my heartrate really wasn't that high throughout. I had a much higher burn when I do two 30ds or R30 levels back to back. It is definately more intense at least when you are working out because of the cardio as well as the strength with limited mat work. But as one other MPFer put it, it didn't feel as intense at the time but she definately felt it the next day. That might well be the case. I think tomorrow I will try the Banish Fat Boost Metabolism video. I hear that one is mostly cardio without weights.
V-Day wasn't too bad for me only because I took a gander at the nutrition label on some candy my husband bought. He thought he was being helpful by getting the little mini Hershey bars (like the nugget size!). I had 2 and realized that they were 100 calories. So whined about how one tiny piece of candy was 50 calories, promptly ate 2 more then called it a day :laugh:0 -
This next week is going to be hectic, Today is DH's birthday, tomorrow is little man's 3rd, Sunday sister's and 24th Moms. I convinced everyone to do one party (secretly because that means 1 cake! ) So we all can behave. DH & little man will still get their individuals but I always find it so much easier to behave in the comforts of my own home.
Had a late start trying to prep everything for DH's birthday dinner so workout is going to be late tonight. 30 minute Fire workout and 30 toning. They are getting longer which I'm glad for. In the beginning (which I think I mentioned) I knew 30-45 wasn't enough to really be as effective as what I wanted. I brought home the Butt Bible  so i can do that 3 days instead of just 2. I had debated tweaking the TF program itself but I really want that darn tank top Beach body gives to add to my Insanity tee.
You are doing awesome as usual with your JM cycles. I sent the shred to my Mom to use so I'm hoping she gives that a whirl. We'll see, baby steps...baby steps. :happy:0 -
Happy Birthday to everyone, especially your little man today!!! Can you believe he is three? Time seems to go by so fast. Looks like everyone was getting busy in May to have all these February babies
Well maintenance is going so so for me. As you know, I upped my calories in an attempt to break the plateau (not actually go the maintenance). It was up just a little today (.2lbs according to my scale but my BF was up half a percentage) so I am not sure how I feel about that. I am ok with with slight increase but the bf annoys me. Who knows if it is really accurate but I might be going back to heavy lifting. I am wondering my BF increased since I simultanously increased my calories while decreased the amount of heavy lifting I was going (switching from s90 to JM). Who knows. I just wish I knew what would work and I would do it (haha wouldn't everyone? ) Oh well, I am getting a kettlebell today so I will see where that takes me.
So when you weighed in today did you keep off your 2 pounds that you lost at the PHC meeting? OOHHHH there is a t-shirt for TF also? I do love my insanity T haha0 -
Boy, after a 3 day weekend I was NOT looking forward to today. Instead of my normal 7.5 hour work day I've got about an 11. Yikes!! :grumble: Luckily the kids are with their Nana so they won't miss me too much!! :indifferent:
I had planned on getting up this AM to get the workout out of the way but seems my oldest has come down with something and we didn't get the sleep we needed last night. I'll have to wait for the kids to go to bed tonight but I packed up my TF and bands for the trip to my parents. Will get it in if it's the last thing I do! And then on to Wednesday morning workouts with the family. I'd love to be able to do some other JM workouts with them but most require hand weights and they only have the 1 set I sent over so looks like another round of Butt Bible.
Have you started with your new Kettlebell?0 -
Hope you enjoyed the long weekend! I have the kettlebell and I have been trying to work on my form by using Youtube videos but I haven't actually worked out with them yet. My Iron Core videos come today so I have a date with the bell tomorrow. I am very excited. I bought the 15lb but now I realize I might have gone with the 20lb but we shall see after I do the full work out. Apparently KB workouts are just like hand weight workouts where there are some which are mostly cardio with light KBs and then there are the real KB workouts that are for strength training and the cardio just comes with the territory. I was reading that alot of the main stream KB workouts like some of Bob Harpers are most cardio and you need a much lighter one because of the types of routines. I guess this is like there is no way you would be lifting 20lbs for Jillian's strength routines.
I want to do KB for mostly strength training so apparently I need a fairly heavy KB. For this program, a 8kg (18lb),10kg (22kg) or even a 12kg (26lb) is recommended for women new to KB depending on your strength. I went ahead and got a 15lb thinking the next step up at the store (20lb) would be too much. I have a feeling that I might outgrow the 15lb really fast so I will see how I feel after this first workout tomorrow and see if I need to exchange the bell for a 20lb. It is so hard since some of these other videos call for like an 8-10lb but I know that is because cardio is their main focus. It just hard to know sometimes but all you can do is try them out
Have you tried JM's Extreme Shed and Shred? I did it over the weekend and it is different to say the least0 -
What's the scoop with Extreme Shred?  :huh:0
-
Awesome kettleBALL workout today!! How did you like it? Was 15lbs enough? I can see what you are saying about the difference between weights for different uses of the KB. I can't imagine doing some of the workout moves in JM's dvd with a 20lb. but then there are some where I'm like...what's the point of even having a weight when it's so light!! I hope that the 15lbs works for you!! Atleast for a bit!!!
Today was TF rest day. So we did Lindsday's bootcamp (just the 2 cardio plus core since we all don't have enough free weights to do strength together). And then Butt Bible...my sister really loves working her glutes!! I do too for that matter!! I'm about squatted out though so I'm not looking forward to TF squats tomorrow!!!0 -
The Shed and Shred is just odd. First off it is a "fusion" workout. So it blends different types of workouts like yoga, kick boxing, weights, martial arts, etc. The first level is a little too easy for my taste and then level two gets like crazy hard so there is a big disconnect there. Then there are some moves that Jillian "created" that are just plan awkward. I am all for new moves but I think she took things alittle far to make a big deal that these were her special moves. Like the one legged mountain climber. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is. Jumping in and out on ONE leg while in plank position. Not so much effective is ridiculous but hey it did give my a nice burn by doing both levels and I know some people just love it. Not the workout for me though. I will take a 30DS or a Ripped in 30 any day over that workout
Well I am so so on the KB so far. I know I need to work on my form because the outside of my wrist was getting annoyed with having the weight on it during windmills and cleans. I keep checking my form and I am not bouncing the bell onto my arm but just having the KB sit on my wrist in the rack position or while pressing seems to annoy it. Maybe I need some of those terry cloth wrist bands some people have on in the video circa 1985  I would definately say I need a heavier bell soon for these types of work outs. I am going to try the second volume of the Iron Core Way (more advanced moves) and if I feel like I need more weight for those moves to I will definately trade out for a 20lb. It is definately a different type of workout though. It is just like switching from JM videos (that go fast and use light weight) to training to power lift (heavy, slow, few reps, and longer breaks). If I could get the wrist thing figured out I am sure I will like it alot more. I am definately feeling it in my thighs:explode:
I saw you did Lindsay's program today. Makes me think I might jump back to her tomorrow for some cardio if I am too sore from the KB to do any other weight training. I also think I am going to drop my calories back down again. I am going to wait to see what the scales says but I feel flabbier (I hope it is mental but sadly I think not). My eating and workouts were great over the weekend (with just a single cheat meal instead of a cheat day) but my eating has sort of sucked the last two days (high on calories and carbs, low on protein yesterday) and I am not feeling great about it. I have a feeling I am going to see a real gain on the scale this week and since I am not lifting heavy I can't claim it to be muscle. haha  But maybe I "reset" my metabolism and I can start losing with just backing off calories alittle They need to have a little praying man icon. hehe0 -
Oh...glad I'm preoccupied with Turbo Fire and didn't sweep up JM's new video out on a whim!!! Sounds not so interesting...okay, well it sounds interesting but not in a 'I want to get a good workout in with this one' kind of interesting!!!
Sounds like a little more experimentation with the KB and you'll be good to go. I can definitely see why your wrists might be sore. I wish I had some advice but I only used mine for the JM videos and for some of the workouts I got online. I wonder if that momomom.tv (I definitely think I spelled that wrong but I'm drawing a blank...I know you've seen the site though!!) would have some tips since I think she uses KBs for both types of workouts.
Glad you kept it in line this weekend. With the birthdays, I can't say that I did. And I know I'll pay for it on the scale because it never takes me just a week to bounce back. I've had a good week but I know my body and it'll take at least until next weigh in to bounce back after a bad weekend. Is what it is...honestly all it was was a bad meal and a slice of cake and icecream but for some reason that's enough to sky rocket my weight on the scale. Don't get me wrong...I don't think that's good practice to eat a big Sunday meal followed by birthday cake and ice cream. But after 6 days of good and a 7th of rough...I get a little shocked how negatively that one bad meal impacts me. Damn you February birthdays!!0 -
Haha Hopefully the scale will be kind to us both tomorrow  I will be doing some of the other KB workout in the set this weekend and then deciding if I need to trade up for the bigger bell (I have a feeling I will since I am sure I will need it soon enough). I am actually missing my s90!! This is the first program that I actually miss and want to start again. haha  I think it is because you feel like a beast after the workouts and they aren't crazy long. I am going to mess around with the KB DVD some more and play with a few other library DVDs but then I think I am off to start another round of S90! If I can get the form down I will probably do a KB workout in place of the ball workouts in S90 (hate that stupid workout). I do think it offers a good workout though since boy are my legs feeling it today!!!
If the scale is up tomorrow, I am going to go into a crazy crack down mode and eat only fruits, veggies, nuts and meat (no processed grains, candy etc). Just for the last 2 weeks before my birthday and see where I end up. Really this is the last thing I haven't tried to break this plateau (I have eaten more, eaten less, worked out more, worked out less, more intensity, less intensity, etc). It is going to suck but it will be a nice experiment to see if this will make my body respond at all. Fun times ahead!!!0 -
Did you get your calories adjusted for a new week? Or are you just cleaning it up and leaving the cals the same? Pain in the butt the whole equation can be!!
I have a sick kid so I didn't even think to weigh in this morning. Hell, I didn't even realize it was Friday until about 3 hours ago!! I missed most of work yesterday and today so my brain isn't functioning 100%. I'm sure mine is up as well too. I know the reason so just pushing forward at this point. I dropped my weekly calories down 150 to try and give a little more cushion for the weekend when there's travels and less structure. We'll see.
Tried Turbo Fire this Am but I have a KILLER headache that won't fade. Got it in but just didn't have 100% to push. I did a Zuzana workout yesterday afternoon so i might try another one of those once this headache fades. Her new ones are a little longer than the old Bodyrock 12 minutes. I'm okay with that though...as weird as it sounds, I'm a little anti-bodyrock right now. It's just weird without Zuzana doing it, so I've been checking out her ZWOW workouts on youtube since our PS3 allow sme to watch youtube on the television (AWESOME!). We'll see...it is almost the weekend when things start going array!!0 -
Ok I take back the KB comments. I am still sore in my back and inner thighs from that work out. I still feel like I could go up in weight but it definately worked me out differently than the standard dumbbell workouts. Still planning on adding it to my next round of s90
Yeah my weight was up as expected so my little experiment didn't go so well. On the bring side I did learn I can eat more and not gain just not that much more. haha. I am dropping the calories alittle (it is set to a half pound loss) and will try to stay under 1800 calories regardless of my exercise calories. The biggest thing is that I am going to try to cut out alot of crap and eat more veggies and grilled meats (versus meat with stuffing or cheese). I am also going to be much tighter on the weekends at least until my birthday. I got a little too loose with it and frankly I think that might have been some of my issue since I have read that your overall weekly calories matter more than the individual days (who knows if that is true but it would make sense since eating like crap for 2 days can totally undo 4 good days). I am going to add in a little extra walking at lunch when I have the free time but that isn't anything major. Just extra movement. These last 2 weeks are going to be on lock down (other than my one limited cheat meal)
I have been checking out new recipes and I am going to try some Mrs. Dash seasonings to add to my grilled meats and veggies! Wish me luck. Great job on your workout today and good luck with your little one. I know how bad it stinks when they are sick0 -
Weekend drop in rant:
Talked to DH about lack of progress...I've been doing TF for 7 weeks and am not seeing the results I'd like to. I don't expect overnight progress or to see my abs in the mirror by now. But I don't feel different at all. My clothes don't fit different, etc. He suggested doing a hybrid with strength training to get back to that more. TF offers it but it's not as intense as I'd like. Of course, I'd prefer to hit the weights at the gym but I've got a few more months before that will be possible! So, I started last night with a TF and P90x hyrbid concentrating on replacing some of the cardio with P90x's strength workouts. I think it'll be a good change and one that should help! Fingers are crossed!0 -
Today was P90x legs & back + ab ripper. Abs were already sore from doing the ab workout earlier in the weekend. The obliques get a nice workout during TF but not so much the rest so I was feeling it! The kids have been sick all weekend so they were up at 4am, and were happy to accompany me downstairs for my workout. I had a lot of comments from the peanut gallery. "Mom was is that guys veins sticking out?" "Mom why are you doing a pull up with bands on the door?" It was interesting but it's in the bag and I'm glad because after work I'm sure they'll just want a little Mommy and rest time.
Eats this weekend weren't horrible. Just a little too much snacking. So I decided to switch weigh ins to Mondays instead of Fridays. Hopefully this will get me in the habit of actually DRINKING WATER (or anything for that matter) on the weekends.
And lastly, my last meeting with the Personal Health Coach is today. So I may update on that later. I'm sure it won't be a positive weigh in since I was up a bit today. But she can atleast check things out and see where I might be going wrong!
How is the random workouts going? Your burn is great in all of them. I'm finally sending my HRM to Polar today. I have been forgetting it in my car for eons and I really miss knowing. I keep trying to low ball guess on Turbo Fire based on what other people burn and subtracting a bit. But I'd rather have a clear picture!!0 -
Yeah I feel your pain on the lack of progress and just trying to figure it all out. Great job on your p90x workout this morning. :flowerforyou: I also am leaning back to heavy strength training (like S90). Even though I only lost a few pounds on that program (and it was mostly from diet changes) I felt better and saw more definition. I also like the pure fatigue I feel after without having to jump around non stop. I am enjoying the change up and trying different things but I think in a week or so I might be back to my S90 with my KB mixed in.
Speaking of, I totally need to switch my KB for a 20lb but the store was all out :grumble: So I am still hanging on to my 15lb but I hope to go switch it out at another store this week. I am enjoying it more but still having to work on my form. I beat the crap out of my one wrist while learning the snatch so I am still working on it. Getting there but still working. It definately gets your heart rate up.
As for the Killer Buns ans Thighs I would recommend it based on the first level alone. It had some killer isometrics in the first circuit but thank god they are not throughout the whole workout or I would have just given up. I like that with warm up and cool down these workouts clock in a 40 minutes each and there are 3 on the disk so I really think you are getting your money's worth. 40-45 minutes is really my ideal workout time. Gets me in out and showered/dressed in an hour
Well I didn't have a single cheat meal this weekend and I have been faithfully logging everything and have elimated a majority of processed grains or sugars (chips, bread, tortillas, rice, pasta, candy). My workouts have been about the same with maybe just some extra walking here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. Now I was expecting to keep my calories at 1400-1700 but honestly since I have cut out alot of the extra carbs I have noticed I am not as hungry on less calories so I have really only been eating 1400-1500. We shall see what that means. Right now this is just a little 2 week experiment to try to make one last push before my 30th birthday. I certainly am not giving up chocolate or bread for life (I honestly don't know how these people do it!) but hopefully this will push me in the right direction!
Hope everyone in your house is starting to feel better :flowerforyou:0 -
Already turning it back in for the big guns eh?! :noway: Love that you keep pushing yourself that's awesome!! The Killer Buns & Thighs sounds like a good workout. I may have to beg for that for my birthday. It's not until June but by then I'm sure I'll be looking for a change!! The calorie set looks good- I hope it works for you! I'm sure just cleaning it up a bit will help too. Can't hurt right?!
My meeting with the PHC wasn't too impressive. SHe forgot the Omirion so we won't be checking that again for 4 weeks. We checked my weight. The 2lbs I lost was back up 1.6lbs. Not sure why but whatever. I've got a plan and I'm on it!! She pretty much said, 'your skinny already...and you are doing it right' Thanks...but 'this' isn't what I want as a goal body so I'll keep trudging along. She is going to meet me again in 4 weeks to see if the combo of strength from P90x helps.
I also took on a challenge in my other board that I comment on. one of the girls on there is prepping for a fitness competition and she gave me some tips to eat cleaner and challenged me to try it as close to 100% as possible for 2 weeks to see if it works. I've been hesitant since aside from some conveniences I tend to eat much cleaner than I used to but I figured she's right...2 weeks is a short amount of time and if I actually see progress than I'll know what its going to cost to get to where I want to be. So I prepped a ton of food last night and preplanned most of my day today. I'm hopefully but on one hand I'm kind of nervous. If eating CLEAN CLEAN is what it takes to lose more weight and lean out, am I ready to commit to making ALL of my meals 100% of the time? For now, I'm taking it 2 weeks at a time!
I also accidentally set my alarm for pm instead of am today so it became an impromptu rest day which is fine since I've worked out 7 straight days and didn't realize it. I'll get a rest today and then hit up a workout with the family tomorrow. :bigsmile:0 -
Oh your program sounds fun I think it is helpful to get tips and ideas from bikini competitors since that is what we want to look like (well at least I do  ) I have been taking some recipes from body building folks now that I am starting to eat less grains and more protein. That was the awesome fiesta chicken crock pot recipe (which was a huge serving for 300 calories, 50g protein and less than 4 grams of fat) and they turned me on to mustard in my tuna instead of miracle whip to cut fat and calories. I am hoping it helps but I don't think I could do the 1000 calorie a day diets they do right before competition.
Sorry about the meeting with the PHC. I totally get where you are coming from though. People tell me all the time I am skinny (which of course is nice) but it just isn't exactly the goal body I want either. I feel like I am budgey in certain area (particularly thighs and butt). When you get down to our level it just gets so hard every ounce of food seems to show up on your body.
Since I have been eating less grains and more of a "body builder diet" it made me think if I could live like this all the time. It is hard and I definately couldn't do it without a cheat day but honestly my commitment would depend on my results. If I see great results in the next two weeks I am certainly going to try to stick to it as much as possible but if I don't see much I wouldn't think it is worth the effort.
Well I would definately recomment the Buns and Thighs workout. I did level 2 today and my heart rate didn't get a rest. If nothing else you are getting a heck of a cardio workout. I am scared to try level 3 honestly. I see you were back with Ms. Jillian this morning.0 -
You are def. right. I could never do the pre-comp diets either!! Craziness. I realize it's only for a bit before a show but I'd def. fail!! I think you are 100% right too about the 'if the results are there..then maybe this could become every day'. Guess we'll see how our little experiment is going! And the mustard vs. MW...ugh, I hear you..I've got to find a sub because I can't do mustard  and I'd just switched out deli meat for fresh homemade chix salad and now no Miracle whip!! One day at a time, and have to remember that they say it takes 2 weeks to know if something is working for your body. So come Monday (or Friday for you!) on weigh in day...just have to keep plugging along to see if a little longer at this shows results.
I saw your post earlier about the JM workout. Definitely sounds intense. I'll be so glad when my HRM gets back from Polar. I loathe guessing! Luckily somethings like JM videos I have the base that MFP remembers for you so that when I do one of those, I can get a close estimate of what historically I've been burning during those. And yes, I had a date with Pauline *Butt Bible* and JM this morning. It was just my Mom & I for the morning workout and those two she seems comfortable doing with her knees and back so we burned a little butt jello and some abbies. I do like getting the extra behind workout in on Wednesdays. Lord knows my booty could use a little extra something-something!! :blushing: Tomorrow is back to the hybrid and if my memory serves me correctly it'll be a P90x workout. Which I've been away from so long, I actually look forward to seeing Tony right now. We'll see how long that lasts! My muscles are SORE! And that's got to be a good sign!!
Keep on rockin' those random workouts- you'll be flaunting it for that birthday!!0 -
Hey! Great workout today! Yeah some changes are easy switches (like adding more protein) but others are often not worth it in the long run (for me at least). I feel good about what I did this week so we shall see how it goes. I think it should be good though but you never know
Now the big thing will be keeping it in check this weekend. My husband's grandfather passed away this week so we are flying to Chicago bright and early tomorrow morning for the funeral. I will not go overboard like on a vacation or anything but I know I will not be able to eat as clean as I have since I have no control over what is being served. That and I don't think I will have a chance to work out at all either. Just need to keep it in check since I still hope to lose some weight next week as well. I will really kill it next week to make up.
I will not have internet access (just my iphone) this weekend, so I will see you back on the forums on Monday. Have a great weekend and good luck with your weigh in0 -
Damn Junior Sizing. But that Target lady was definitely right...and you earned yourself that compliment. It's so nice to hear sometimes when we least expect it!!
I do hope that tomorrow's weigh in is what you expect. I can only imagine that it will be- your diaries have looked good and Lord knows you are killin' your burns. Definitely keep at it...you have made SUCH amazing progress since we started chatting on Insanity it's CRAZY!!:drinker: :drinker:
I am feeling good about my diet portion of this whole thing and that's what's always up down for me. Going to think ahead about what to do for the weekend so I'm not mindlessly snacking like usual. We are going to be running around Saturday with the kids soccer game and then a Home Depot workshop for the kids...so I'll have to think ahead. I kinda wanted to just completely avoid all eating out for like a month!! But I don't see that happening. I can however choose wisely and not poorly! Hell, I might even just pack a cooler and eat in the car before the kids eat. We'll see. THe kids birthday party is this weekend but cake is avoidable to me. It's just always one of those things you eat because that's the sociable thing to do. But it's a party at my house so I don't have to be sociable!!
I do hope that your have safe travels this weekend. I'm sorry to hear the reason for your travels. And I am sending prayers to all your family and extended family over the next few days. I hope Josie does well with the quick trip too!0 -
Well I am back! I had a good weigh in on Friday but I am sure I destroyed all I worked for this weekend. I ate so much crap I can't even tell you. And it wasn't even good!! It was just because we were trapped at the funeral home for 7 hours on Friday and all they had to eat was brownies and baked goods (which is what I ate tons of for both lunch and dinner). On Saturday I stuffed my face with all sorts of garbage solely because we didn't know when we would eat again and then at the reception I drank 3 cranberry vodka so......needless to say even though I am going to work my butt of this week and drop my calories a little for my birthday I don't think this week may go so well on the scale. I was able to get a quick workout in on the treadmill at our hotel to burn off a little of the crap but I can't imagine it was going to be that helpful. Its ok though. I made my bed, now I must lie in it After my birthday I am going to recommit to getting the last few pounds off for bikini season (and another round of s90!)
Josie stayed at my parents thankfully here in Texas. She got her MMR shot the day his grandfather died and since it is a live virus she can't be around Mike's father for 14 days because he has a compromised immune system (from cancer treatments). So she stayed home which really was for the best because she would have been a nut case being locked up in a room for 7 hours straight.
I totally get what you mean about being social though and not wanting to eat out. That was part of my success last week was not eating out at all. I was hoping to keep that streak up this weekend as well but the funeral has something else to say about that. How was your weigh in on Friday? Any better than expected?
I did up the weight on the kettlebell to 20lbs and I think I will be feeling to difference tomorrow. It can really get your heart rate up even just by swinging it around :laugh:0 -
I wish I could get on here with more to express than complaints and frustrations. But, alas, that's all I have my dear fellow Insanity survivor!!
My weigh in this morning...156. 4lbs up from the 152 late last week. As a result, my husband and I have banned the scale from the bathroom. I hadn't been worried about stepping on the scale since my workouts are at least 6 days a week and my eats are in line with the clean eat challenge as much as I can. My weekend was unremarkable and consisted of the same foods I've been eating all the week. I drank more water. And bam, up 4lbs. Do I really think I'm up all that? No, but I would have atleast expected a maintain not an increase from the 154 I logged on MFP last week. I keep thinking I must be doing something wrong. I considered giving up not only the scale but calorie counting in general for awhile. It's all mentally exhausting. I know there's more to it than a number on a scale but nothing has changed in forever. Measurements exactly where they were when I started TF the day after Christmas.
I like (like as much as anyone likes) working out and I'm fine with how I'm eating but I can't take much more of the no progress. Honestly. I can't. I told husband, if the scale isn't hid by the time I get home from work...breakfast might consist of candy bars and brownies. For now, I'll just relinquish the scale to him and keep trudging along but I just feel mentally beat down. It's annoying, to say the least.
I am so proud you got up and hit it hard today. I'm sure the weekend was filled with struggles, but time has proven you'll definitely be back in action and moving things right back along by weeks end. Sometimes life gives us baked goods at funerals and we have to deal accordingly! Next week (Or today since it's Monday) is a chance to keep plugging along!
I'm glad the new weight is working better for you! 20lb kettlebell swings and turkish get ups will have you even more bikini ready in no time. :bigsmile:0 -
Its totally cool. This is where I come to celebrate and to vent and honestly, I am usually venting way more than celebrating. I am so sorry about your frustration. I completely get it. It is so upsetting to not see any change on the scale, in the mirror or in measurements when you have been working so hard. I wish I had some advice to help you but alas I am in the same situation as you. The only things that make me feel better is to look at pictures of where I came from and to think about the alternative: If I give up I will be 60lbs heavier again and it will suck.
Maybe it is time for you to take a break from calorie counting. Some people do really well with it. I suck at it. As soon as I am not paying attention to everything I eat I tend to go overboard. If I do ever reach my goal weight, it will be hard to let go of counting everything. I do know people that were really successful at taking a break so maybe you should try. So far the only thing that seemed to help was the raising my calories and then dropping them way down (from like 1800 to 1350). It helped me get alittle lower but honestly it will probably not last but I am willing to give that a shot again if I need to after my birthday. I also think I will getting to liberal on the weekends.
The scale sucks but keep your head up. I am sure you will figure it out and in the meantime you are still a badass that has come a long way!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Raising your calories and dropping them down..hmm...remind me, was that during S90 when you were lifting heavy? I hadn't considered that...something to think about.
Calorie counting. Love it and hate it. I'm still considering this too. I eat pretty much the same things all the time so I don't think it would be difficult to not stray too far. I may still go with that for a bit and just log on to drop by the boards. No calorie counting, no scale...just some friendly banter back and forth on the boards.
Still on the hunt for a bathing suit? Did you get an outfit for your birthday? And are you doing 3 days kettle and 3 days random?
I'm loving the P90x hybrid. I truly still enjoy Turbo Fire. So it's nice to keep that in there. But I definitely feel a better after burn and soreness effect from P90x. I still miss the gym!!! I can't wait to get back in there. For half a second last night, I considered selling a dog to get back into the gym. LoL. Just kidding, just kidding!!
Tomorrow I've planned a little switch up that I'm hoping my sister and mom go for. I have that JM kettlebell workout. So I brought the two 8lb weights that I had at the house. Jillian offers a girl who uses a dumbbell for her workouts so we'll try that out. It should be interesting, the 3 of us swinging weights around in a small living room!!!! :bigsmile:0 -

Well, I've decided I am FOR SURE running the 5k on the 5th of May. It's too perfect not too. Granted I wish I had more time to train since without having a gym and crappy weather, running has not been high on my priority list. BUT this race is exactly what I'm looking for as my first. It's a flat course (thank GOD!) and it has activities for the kids. I always feel so guilty wanting to do things that involve the kids not being able to be with me on the weekend. But this race has not only a 'dash' for the kids (not sure if they have one for 3 year olds yet but I'll be checking), but it also has crafty type activities to keep the kids entertained while Mommy runs and DH will happily entertain them during this so I can achieve this little goal I've been talking about for almost a year! My goal is by September to complete another one. My Aunt found us a 'Dirty Girl' 5k which is the closest thing to a Warrior Dash in our neck of the woods. I wanted at least one race under my belt before I took on this ultimate to do!! Looks like I'll be checking things off my bucket list in 2012! These little goals are exactly what I need to start focusing on as opposed to the scale!0

Thats so cool. I ran my first 5k when I was doing Insanity. It was a slightly hilly course but wow I was hurting the day after. Wish I trained a little  I finished in a decent time (like 32 minutes) but more importantly for me I was able to "run" aka jog the whole time. If I ever did one again I would so train for it. I am also like 30 pounds lighter so that would also be helpful.
As for the calories, I went ahead and increased my calories to maintenance right after I finished S90. I was starting to gain so after 2 weeks of that I dropped it way down and in that first week I lost all I gained and broke through the plateau a tiny bit. I would love to have seen where I could have gone if I kept the eating in check this last weekend but since I was off the charts crazy, I expect to be back up again this week
I am doing the KB workouts every few days with random workouts mixed in until I plan on starting s90 again. I do love the heavy lifting and I think it it got me better definition. Since I have been doing the higher reps, lower weight stuff I don't feel as "cut" as I was and even though my weight is about the same my body fat is a tad higher so I think I am going back to that. I am going to sub out the stupid ultimate ball workout (it is horrible for me, repeatedly falling off the ball doesn't get me much of a burn) with KB workouts so I will be able to get some extra full body action in.
I am all covered on bathing suits. Actually I have too many but I love them all differently so I am going taking any back  Who would have thought I would get so excited about bathing suits? Usually I am horrified. haha I guess this is the reward of all my hard work. As for birthday, I was planning on just wearing a top with jeans since we are going bar hopping and I have a rule about not wearing skirts or dresses when I expect to get alittle tipsy (things just get sloppy, if you know what I mean). But then I made the mistake of going to Ross yesterday with my $8 store credit and found a hoochie dress for $13.99. It looks really good and I was thinking when will I ever have the chance to wear something like this again? So I got it and got all excited, then come to find out even though it has been 70 here all week that one day is supposed to be like in the 50s (and we are walking several blocks to the bars) so....we shall see what I end up wearing. Either way though I was very excited that I looked decent in a skin tight dress0 -
I'm quitting....calorie counting that is. At least for a bit. I like the foods I eat so it's not like I need to eat them just to my diary looks nice. But I'd like to take a break from the day in/day out eat, log, repeat, cycle. It may not work for me but we'll see. I figure after a bit of doing this then I'll drop my calories down a bit and see where it leads. I'm avoiding the scale until my next appointment with the PHC on the 26th of March. Until then, it'll just be continuing the same lifestyle just without the regiment of logs and scales.
KILLER NEWS on the dress! Good for you, exploring more 'fun' options for your birthday. I can see why you'd go with jeans, but even if that dress doesn't get used for the bday celebrations at least you'll know you have it for when you are feeling a little spunky. I'm sure the husband will enjoy it!!
I like how you are going back to what you feel works for you. It was good to switch it up to see but S90 brought awesome definition and I can see why you'd go back. And you've found a way to keep that hefty kettebell. Awesome!!
I'll start my training for the 5k on Friday. I have a volleyball tournament Saturday and I don't like doing strength workouts right before a day long tournament. So today is strength and tomorrow cardio. Plus, I just needed some extra sleep and running=5am workouts. This way I could still sleep in and still get a workout in after work. Win, win!!
I'm closing in on 2 weeks of the clean eating challenge. I've definitely found some yummy food. Quiona cooked with low sodium chicken broth mixed with asparagus and chicken is delicious! I could eat it every day! But I also know I have other foods that aren't so clean that I need to use in my freezer (see...Lean Cuisine) so I'll be mixing the new foods with foods I have. Hey, the price of a grocery budget ya know? Plus, who doesn't enjoy a quick heat and go meal!!0
