Well I have good news and bad news.
Bad news is that I didn't lose any weight this week. I weigh in at the doctors office every Friday before lunch (I get up really late on Fridays since I don't have school), then have lunch with my mom who works at my doctors office. So of course I was a bit put out. I know its not water retention, etc. I wasn't too good this week and I went over a few times. I'm glad I maintained though.
Buuttt...
Right after lunch I had a doctors appointment, a 3 month follow up for my insulin levels, A1C, sugar, etc. My doctor came in and was so excited that I had lost weight, and she told me my insulin levels were normal! I still need to keep going with the meds for a while, probably until I lose another 20 pounds or so. She was so excited she actually gave me a high five!
So that put me back in the right mindset and I'm back on track today and I'm gunna keep with it.0 -

I am so happy for you and I am proud of you for staying focused. You can do this.
I also lost a big fat 0 today. found out today that my doctor thinks my blood pressure is high and he wants to put me on meds for it. Thats lousy, I am all the more determined to lose this mass. He said he would not even consider getting me off the meds until i lose and additional 50 pounds. I gotta do this.0 -
Good for you getting off the meds soon amanda!
Momma2four, I am on BP meds to, I have been on them since I was pregnant with my first child in 2006 I can't wait until I lose enough to stop taking meds!
I lost 1.4 pounds this week. Not my best week, but I will take it!0 -
Hi guys
i havent checked in for awhile - went camping of the weekdend, ate and drank way too much and am so bloated today so not weighing in until the end of the week to ensure I dont get discouraged. So sunburnt from the weekend too - ouch....so i think ill rest up tonight and not excercise, and get back into the gym tommorrow, hopefully with a little less sting from sunburn than today...I look like Rudolphs nose...but over my whole face and limbs!!

Hey everyone!!
I just recently joined this site yesterday. I started my weight loss journey almost 7 months ago (right after the holidays). When I started, I had half my weight plus 25 lbs to lose. I'm doing this all on my own and it is getting difficult now for some reason and I'm looking for a good support group.

Thank God! I was so worried as I was looking over this sight, it seemed full of women who needed to lose 5lbs to fit back into their "skinny" jeans. I have never owned a pair of "skinny" jeans but at one point fit into an 18/20 which at the time felt really good. I want to be able to shop at Target for clothes! I want to be able to pay the sale price, not have to add 3 dollars for the plus size.
I am so looking forward to this, so far I have lost 50lbs which all of my friends are shocked by, little do they know I still have 107lbs to go. I can do this though. I have set up "mini" goals for myself:
1-reach the weight I was when I met my husband 32 more lbs:flowerforyou:
2-get under 200 35 after that
3-goal weight (where I will still technically be overweight) 40 more lbs0 -
Welcome to the newcomers, and congrats on your accomplishments so far!0

I would like to join the halfers club. My friend turned me on to MFP about 6 months ago and I have been on-again, off-again ever since. I sat down at work yesterday and riped out the zipper of the pants I was wearing, which I just bought about 1 month ago. So instead of losing, I have been gaining. I have serious emotional eating issues. I have lost significant weight before, but of course I have gained it all back plus some.
I am 35 years old, 5' 3" and 248.5 pounds. To reach my recommended weight for my height I need to lose 128 pounds, putting me at 120, the higher end of the recommendation. I have allergies & asthma (my whole life), arthritis, and type 2 diabetes.
I think my husband prefers me fat. His adore has not cooled in the least. I know I use that as an excuse to eat, or eat bad things. And he enables me. He is also 100 pounds over weight, which I do NOT like. But he doesn't really seam to care. Which does not help me at all.
I am very dissatisfied with my life in general right now, but it is comfortable. I keep telling myself that it won't help to change one thing in my life. That I have to change everything at once. I know it's BS. I know that when I feel better about myself, my weight, my health that everything else seems less irritating. I know I have to make some hard changes. I know that I can do it. I have done it before. But for some reason, I am terrified.
I hope this is not too much information. I will try to keep future posts more upbeat.0 -
Welcome Chem0324 , wow on losing over 60 pounds
Glad your back pink
Mary we are glad that you are here, you are doing so good on your journey so far.
Angelwife you can do this and you are making the first right step, We are here to encourage you when your down and cheer for you when your up.
Congrats to all of you for being here and doing so well this far.
Hello Jenn, good to see you too and thanks for understanding what I am going through right now. Good job on your weight loss so far.
I am off to the coast for the day so you all have a wonderful day.0 -
Wow. It's been a while. Teaching band camp for 14 hours per day kind of keeps you busy. So I weighed in and yeah. I'm pretty proud.
Start weight: 270
Previous week: 239.3
This week: 236
That's 3.3 pounds. I'll take it. To make things even better, it looks like I may meat my September goal by not this weigh-in, but the next. If I can be down to 225 by the time I student teach, I'll call it a win (I've been consistently losing 12-13 pounds because I've got SO MUCH to lose). I'm almost a quarter of the way to my goal weight and I couldn't be more thrilled!
Good luck this week to everyone!0 -
Hi everyone - I am new to the group and fairly new to the site - I also post on the +50 group -as I am 55 years young - being in my 50's is GREAT - so many things now that I just don't worry about. But my weight is one that I do worry about. 5'8" and 306 at the start - down 2 pounds this week- my first.
getting exercise regularly will be my main challange I think.
This site is amazinginly helpful!!
Congrats to everyone who is giving it the effort -:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
One day at a time. It took me some time to gain it and I've protected by weigth gain for about 25 years - so now it's time to let it go! sometimes I think of it as 154 pounds of scar tissue - life is hard sometimes. but it is time to let it go!
Getting support makes all the difference.
Great to meet you all!!0 -

Hi all,
I started my weight loss journey in Feb 2009, before I found this site. I have a lot of health problems-high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes being the big three... My wake up call was three-fold: My doctor sent me for a stress test because she didn't like the way my heart sounded, this same week we discovered my Vitamin D level was severely deficient and my A1C level had steadily climbed from 7 to 7.9 (should be under 6.5.) Making a long story short, my stress test came out fine, my vitamin D level is now normal, and I have lost a total of 33 lbs since Feb. My A1C is now 5.5 due to some diabetic counseling and dosage changes. I actually have decreased my insulin usage by 30%, which is just amazingly awesome to me!
I have lived so much of my adult life on auto-pilot... It is SO hard to change, and especially to change the voice in my head... I know you know what I mean...
I know "the only way out is through" and am determined to do the things I want to do, like hiking, dancing, biking, etc. I am going to make myself exercise, make better food choices, and NOT make excuses for myself. I am not going to listen to that negative voice if/when I stumble, but instead dust myself off, and continue my journey.
I love that you are all there for support, advise, and just someone to listen that knows how daunting this all can be...

I keep telling myself that it won't help to change one thing in my life. That I have to change everything at once. I know it's BS.
You do NOT need to change everything at once. It takes longer, but baby steps are more productive. Change your diet slightly, portion sizes/better choices. Think about exercising one more time a week than you do(or start with just one!). Don't try to go from 0-60 in 3.3! Remember. Slow and steady wins the race! And don't worry about being upbeat. We're here to support you through all the ups and downs. I know how you feel about having someone close to you who is also over weight and doesn't want to change. My mom is about 10 pounds heavier than I was at my highest weight, and she's diabetic. I've tried talking to her but she just shrugs it off and says, "I can't do it work has bad food all the time I can't resist it."
Welcome to the new members great to see people joining!
Just a mid week update... I had to go into the doctor's today due to a pain in my side. Turns out I have a kidney infection so I'm fine just need water and antibiotics! But... i weighed in and it was first thing in the morning. I know its the middle of our week but I'm VERY happy to say that I was down a pound since my last weigh in. Weight fluctuates so I'm not putting it in but it was a great morale boost since i didn't lose last week.
So I'll keep it up the rest of the week and update ya'll on weigh-in day!0 -

Hey Tami, You have made some wonderful strides in the right direction. I know we can make it on this journey. oh and Believe me I do know what you mean. Welcome:flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Tami and all! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Tami - you've made a great choice - and as a previous post said - take it in small steps - change is hard BUT it can be done - just be good to yourself - if you are like most of us we have sore arms from beating ourselves up for 'failures'. You have the desire to change so work at not self-sbotagin by having sky high expectations.......you will ge there and we wil be with you......it is a journey and we have time as we make each small change and then every day make the same small changes again and again.
LIfe is good and it just gets better as we control the food and the weight loss gets us to a place where our blood chemistry is normal and we can move!
Keep drinking water :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
and move whenever you can!!
and always ask for support when you need it - we have all been there!!
Heather0 -
hi guys
just wanted to check in and spread some weight loss love!! hope your all smiling
xxPINK0 -
Hi all, Hope your day is going great! Keep on keeping on, and if you stumble, dust yourself off and get back to keep on, keeping on..... lol...
Heather, What you said, "move when you can" really resonated with me... In fact, recently I have started exercising during commercial breaks! I have always used that time to do little things, like start laundry, put dished in to soak, etc., but had a eureka! moment last week to use this time to excercise!
Does anyone else do this?
Hugs to all,
Tami0 -

Hi Cheri!
Welcome to the group! I only joined a month ago, so I am a newcomer also. This site is GREAT, and the people here are even GREATER! There is so much support for each other-we all are on the same path, just some are longer than others. Read through the posts on the message boards, there is alot of information out there, or just ask any questions that come to mind!

Welcome Cheri!
Just thought I'd drop in and say ITS MY BIRTHDAY. :drinker: "and I'll eat if I want to."
Dinner is going to be nuts I'm not drinking but we're celebrating at Chili's and doing their 3 courses for 20 dollars deal so... lots of calories. Like, nearly 600 over. So... any suggestions on how to burn up those 600 calories? I've already decided to park WAY further than normal from my class today (Yes class on my birthday it sucks), so that will burn a bit, and I'll take the stairs. I don't have time to go to the gym today before the dinner. Maybe some dancing.... hmm.../0 -

That is awesome! Wow, what a difference.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMANDA! Eat, and have fun tonight. If you are really worried about the extra cals, just eat half or so of the main course, and pack the rest up for lunch the next day. That's what I did for my birthday, and I shared dessert with my hubby. Because I am used to eating smaller meals, I don't think I can eat a whole restaurant serving anymore!0 -
Happy Birthday Amanda
Hi everyone, I am back from camping. Hope you all are having a wonderful day.
Welcome to the new faces..........:flowerforyou:

I forgot to take into account that I was wearing my heavy pair of jeans. I weigh myself in at the doctor's office every friday morning and usually i wear my lightest pair of jeans and a t-shirt which is only about 1.3 pounds.
Today I wore my heavy jeans and a tshirt which weigh out to 2 pounds even.
So really
I weighed in at
286.8
Which I will happily take. ^_^0 -
Finally after several weeks of a plateau 4 pounds. Yay0

Congrats "momma"!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0
