It isn't September in Washington, yet, but it's September somewhere so I'm posting here.
We've had a busy day with healthy eating and some exercise and good weather. Who could ask for anything more.

Hi Barbiecat., Its not September here in Texas yet either but wanted to get it change for any early birds in the morning. . Well its time for bed and I am tired. I didn't get to eat what I plan on for supper for I took a nap and missed my afternoon snack and really late for supper and Had a low blood sugar. So I grab a yogurt , fruit and a bowl of turnips and greens and called it supper. My blood sugar is back down to normal now. Should have had an apple before I took a nap. But hoping my ticker moved up to 15 lbs. in the morning. I need a 2 lb loss to make it.
See you guys tomorrow.
Good night all.0 -
Hi all,
Hope everyone has a good first day of September... we started our morning at 0430 with a nice "short" run of 3 miles... I have been eating roll-ups or wraps (depends on what part of the country you are in what they are called) for breakfast...
1 tortilla
2 pieces of Cheese my vice
2 pieces of turkey
some bell peppers
lettuce and dirpple some ceasar dressing on there...
roll it up and.... breakfast... I justify it by telling my self that its dinner time some place
As you can tell the food still isnt the best but you find ways around it.
Have a great day

Good Morning All,
Do any of you get frustrated with adult children?? Just because they are adults doesn't mean they are smart with some of their decisions. I don't know if it was right but I did have to tell my son how I felt about one of his decisions and of course now he won't talk to me. I am hoping maybe it will sink in later and things will be fine again.
September is here already? My goals for this month are to lose the last 2 pounds and to do more exercise. I have actually lost another pound but I don't record it until it stays that way for a few days. I have also joined this fun site with my daughter and will walk across America.
http://walking.about.com/cs/measure/a/webwalkingusa.htm Of course you do it in your own home or in Barbies case she probably would be walking twice around with all the steps she takes.
Today is my card day and I really need to get some exercise in before I go, so I will chat with you later.
Have a Great Day Everyone!!
Sandy0 -
Good morning from a cool RI. It's beautiful weather as I LOVE Spring and Autumn
I have been 100% with the tracking and exercising, but the last couple of days I've felt a little weak and drained. I checked the calories and proteins etc.(and eat my exercise calories) and they're all there. Maybe it's because I went from going on an occasional walk, to doing the treadmill every day for at least 30 - 50 min. I don't overdo it. I'm never out of breath etc. But I found myself real hungry last night and had an extra apple (OMG!!!):ohwell:
What's a good food to have that really fills you without packing on the calories? I tried a Dark Chocolate bite size bar Hershey's at work(70 Cal!!!!), I've tried 10 almonds or had a hamburger for dinner (figured the fat would stick) I drink about 10 glasses of water a day too!:drinker:
Maybe my body is still getting use to not eating as much as I use to. I have no intentions of slacking off but I'm concerned about my lack of energy. So to all you pros, what say you? Any ideas?
BirdieM:yawn:0 -

I did locate my mom. She is now my "friend" on here
I did tell her about the message board. but I think she's just getting her feet wet with using the tracking system. Maybe she's looking for August....Oh no :noway:
I'll get her here eventually. In the meantime have a great day!!!!!!

Sandy
Sandy, I not only had this problem with my children (and they are terrific adults) but I had this problem with my brothers and sisters growing up as the oldest of a large family.:grumble: Whatever you told your son, if it had been said to him by someone else, may have been tolerated or even welcomed:mad: That's called, I think, "tough love" and it's never something a parent can do without having some "attitude" or even silence. HOWEVER, they always come back (for the most part) and even at a later date AGREE WITH YOU!!!! OMG CAN IT HAPPEN? Yes it can It's tough being a good mom. When people tell me that they want to be their children's "friend" I get annoyed. THEY HAVE FRIENDS, what they need is loving guidance from parents....I think they use to call it "parenting" and it never goes away even when their in their thirties:laugh:
One day he'll appreciate your truthfulness (whether right or wrong) and know he will get an honest "take" on things. Hang in there!!! I think you're doing what you should! :flowerforyou:

Barbie
Hi Barbie,
I know you are also on the other thread "Women Ages 50+ for August" and I am having a hard time getting on the new September thread as is LaurelFisher. We both clicked on the new link provided by Esther and get an error. Did you try?
BirdieM0 -
Barbie I found the thread under Motivation and Support. I sent the info to LaurelFisher.:embarassed: Sorry to bother you. I thought of it after I posted the "Help" message
See you there!

GAYLA, you ask about my new cooking sensation. here is the link
http://www.shopatshowcaseus.com/flavwavturbo.html?source=Overture&OVRAW=Turbo oven&OVKEY=turbo oven&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=47293957522&OVKWID=234607391022
It cost right in the neiborhood of 300.00 by time they sold me all the extras/ But I don't regreat it at all. I love it. I cooked all my meals just about in it. Just right for one person. I lay some slice squash and zucchini in mine for lunch till they got browm Spray it with pam butter spray , salt and pepper. And is faily easy to keep clean. I would't take for it. It does take up room tho. But I found a spot for it.The only thing I wouldn' buy is the extened to cook a turkey. I dpn't think I will ever used it but whoe's know I might.

I forgot to tell you guys I lost 5 1/2 lbs this week. Still Dancing a Happy Dance. I got off that red Bus That they have driving around to pick up all the gainers. I Think I was on it 2 weeks in a row. This is the low carbers thread, What a crazy bunch......Marie0
-
Marie....5.5 lbs in 1 week! That's terrific! Whatever you're doing, must be working! I'm getting weighed in the morning. Wish me luck! I'll let you know how I do!:flowerforyou:
BirdieM0 -
I do wish you the best of lucks, Birdie. Its so exciting when you lose. I am still on clud nine. Sammy the dog and i are going to have our second little walk in a few minutes. But first I want to get my chicken ready to pop in the cooker to cook when I get back...... There is story behind my weight losst. I have congestive hearth failure and can put water weight on reaaly fast. My doctor increase my water oill to 2 a day. So that help some....... Keep us informed of your weight lost. enjoy chatting with you.....Marie
And thanks0 -
Thanks Birdie, I agree with you 100%. My son is 37 and thinks he is in love with a 22 year old he has never met in person, just online. He is in recovery and is also bipolar, so although I am really proud of his recovery this time I think his decision is really bad. He is talking about marrying her and having a baby. He is really intelligent and has a good job but this is just too much for me to understand. I let him know my feelings and of course he is upset with me. I do think he will regret his decision and think logical, but it will take time. I just hope he doesn't get hurt in the meantime and hurt his recovery.
Marie, 5 1/2 pounds in one week, way to go champ. You go girl and keep doing what you are doing.
Won a little money in gin today, did some exercise this morning, plan on walking Daisy after dinner so all is good for the most part.
Sandy0 -
Sandy,
I can't believe you're saying that! As we speak, my daughter, 29 yrs old is meeting someone she MET ONLINE for a walk! She's seen him a few times over the weekend and they seem to be getting along real well (so far). Sat. night, one of my other daughters, who is a professional singer and had a gig in CT, asked him to drive IN HER CAR to the gig!:noway: I told her it was dangerous being in a car alone with someone she just met the day before!!! But she said SHE would drive, not him, because it was too far for the poor thing to drive to. OMG!!! What a chance she took! And of course was annoyed with me for even suggesting that she needed advice:explode: All I could think of was 'What if I never see her again?" They have no idea of whats out there! so naive! AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A MOTHER AND WORRY Tell your son, that my daughter was madly crazy about several people online.....until she met them. hmmm Can you beilieve it:huh:
Boy I've done a lot of praying, for the Lord to protect her and give her discernment:frown:
Maybe we should pray for each other
BirdieM0 -
Good evening everyone. I did a crazy thing today and didn't realize it until this evening. Neil told me my voice mail message says I am on holidays. I looked at the calender and realized I shouldn't have been at work today, DUH!! I will have to talk to my boss tomorrow and use this day later. I am not leaving holidays behind!! Can't believe I did that!!
Way to go Marie on the weight drop. Even if part of it is water, you must feel a lot better without it on your body.
We had a sad day here today. One of the young men that my kids went to school with and played hockey with was in a terrible car accident last night with his girlfriend. She was killed and he is in hospital. A car drove out in front of them, the car spun around and another car hit them from behind. We never know what life is going to bring us.
I will do a longer response the end of the week. Take care. Gayla0 -
Gayla: So sorry to hear about the accident. I guess that's why they say "Live each day to the fullest". So sad:frown:
BirdieM:ohwell:0 -
On a happier note: My first weigh in for this month from a week ago and I lost 2 another lbs and 2.25 inches! So do I count those for August or Sept
   WHO CARES The scale went down and that's all I care about. I've lost 8lbs since Aug 14 YAY!
BirdieM
PS Sandy my daughter got home from her walk and had a good time! Whew!0 -
PHOEBE!!.........PHOEBE!!! You know I am worried about you. Its been a long time since we have heard from you. Where are you????????????/
I am up early this morning. Got a grocerry store r un today.
Galya sorry to hear about your kids friend. sure hope he gets OK. And his girlfriend How horrible. Yes we never now whats in store for us when we get up. I did not get to cook my chicken as planned the other night for I had a nap and had a low blood sugar and had to eat quickly. But did cooked it last night, in fact 2 of them Will have one tonnight. I did have to cook it almost an hour before it got done. But was good. Have another chicken recipe I want to try out and will post the recipe after I make it. ON this WW I do not eat the liver. I loved fried liver but that is out and I only eat it at testaurant, Can't stand to cook it.
I am so please with you doing so good on your plan.
Barbiecat, I have been checking your food chart out. You only eat one cooked meal a day. I don't know if I could get my body ussed to that. I like food. . I see you made that chicken package, Did you have problem getting it done? the first time I made it the girl on your other thread that you post on didn't give the temp. to have the oven, so I cooked it at 350 and had to cooked it longer. After turning the oven up I still had to cooked it longer but had a better taste. I cook 2 pkg. so I will have one tonight or tomorrow. I have desniated Sat. night as my cheat meal. I will not go over my calories but will eat something thats not on my list. And this Saturday i will missed Sat. night for Alice will be out Sunday and will have my cheat meal. Will have to be careful eating out.. I think chicken, brocolli and cauliflower is a dieters best friend but not for a cheat meal. If this don't work out I will just have one cheat meal a month.
Hello to Sandy, Jeffrey, Beth, Birdie, Ellen,.Elli[ Hope she is enjoying her son return.] , Jake, I still missed BigG. Wonder what happen to her. Maybe some day whe will pop back in.
LETS STICK TO OUR PROGRAM AND GET HEALTHY AND SEXY
MARIE0 -
Birdie, you pop in while I was posting. Congrats on your weight lost. You are doing so good. So proud of you. Les keep it up. And good morning to you., another early bird. Marie0
-
Good Wednesday Morning,
Thanks for sharing with me Birdie and yes we can pray together for our children. My son did apologize to me for his rude behavior but my opinions were taken with a grain of salt. No matter what he still thinks he loves this girl (whom he has never met) and wants his family to accept her.
Gayla, my problems sound so trivial compared to losing a child. I am really sorry about your friend and his girlfriend. I will say a prayer for both of them and hope he makes a complete recovery. :flowerforyou:
Marie, you are such a busy beaver with all your cooking. You are doing great, so keep up the good work.
Beth, I still didn't do the test that you did, time just got away from me. How is the training going?
Barbie, I found a little pedometer in my drawer and put it on yesterday and by the end of the day I had about 4000 steps. That included 30 minutes of Wii Active and 45 minutes walking Daisy. Doesn't sound like much compared to what you do daily but it is a start. I think I will invest in a better pedometer, this one came free with something that I can't even remember.
Have a good day my friends, tonight is my bingo night.
Sandy0 -
Where is Barbiecat????????????????????/ Didn't show up yesterday..........Missed you girl...........
Marie0 -
Hey Sandy, I don't dp much cooking. I fixed enough when I do to last a few days. Since Jerry tend to his own food I am free to cook what I want. I made me a new note. If I cannot control my portions size I will put it on my trigger list and not buy it any more. That list is getting longer by the day.
Good for getting your step counter out. I need to do the same. I gave my daughter my good one so I guess I will have to buy a new one. I'll see if she wont bring it back as far as I know she is not using it.
Have fun at bingo tonight. What did they think about Daisy. I remember you said you was going to take her up there.
Have a good day.
Marie0 -
They absolutely loved her, she was much smaller then. She is four months soon and is weighing 34 pounds so I expect a really big girl when she is fully grown.
I posted some newer pictures of her to show how big she is getting. :bigsmile:0 -
Hi,
I have been AWOL from posting, but not reading or logging food. Still doing extra stuff for my friend. She is doing better. The bruises on her face have lightened, and her shoulder isn't hurting as much as it did before. By next week she should be back to paddling her own canoe, so I can get some walking in before the weather goes to the
I have decided I don't like walking on overcast days, even if it ic a comfortable temparature. I find I really prefer the sun..
Hope everyone is haveing a good week.
Barb0 -
Good evening to all :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
:flowerforyou: Beth, I’ve always eaten non traditional foods for breakfast. When I was about nine years old we went on a family trip across the U.S and I ordered a tuna sandwich three meals a day the whole trip. I haven’t done any long or short walks lately but three miles would be about in the middle for me if I were walking (not running)
:flowerforyou: Sandy, we have adult children. They are in their 30’s and reasonably settled in their lives but in their late teens and twenties when they were legally adults and behaved and thought like grade school kids we had a lot that made us crazy. Thanks to the wise counsel of friends, we turned them over to God (they’re his kids more than ours) and tried to avoid meddling. We wanted to meddle and frequently did but we were the most amazed when they grew up and began making better choices. I’m already logging my walk on a walking challenge so I don’t think I want to add another one but I looked at the one you suggested. I agree with you. I don’t log a weight loss until the pound has been gone for awhile then I don’t get that discouraged feeling that I lost and then gained. When I first got a pedometer I think I only walked about 4000 steps a day. I know that’s what happened when Jake got his in July. I think that having one and using it encourages you to increase your steps every day.
:flowerforyou: Birdie----one of my favorite snacks is fresh veggies with hummus. Today one of my friends gave me a cucumber from her garden and I sliced about a third of it and spread spicy three pepper hummus on it---2 TBS hummus and 1/3 fresh cucumber= 65 calories When I first started this I got to feeling hungry awhile before meals and sometimes would watch the clock waiting for mealtime. Eventually my body got used to eating right. Congratulations on your weight loss. I’d use it to jump start September.
:flowerforyou: Marie, congratulations on your weight loss. I knew you could do it. The Isagenix protein shakes we eat are so nutritious and sustaining that they satisfy us in ways that food never did. I’ve tried going back to my regular meals from time to time and I’m always hungrier than when I have the shakes. It makes meal planning a lot easier. When I cooked the chicken packet, I cut the chicken into bite size pieces the same size as the cut up veggies and it cooked in about 35 minutes at 350.
:flowerforyou: Gayla, I’m sorry to hear about the accident. What a tragedy. Once again we’re reminded to live each day to the fullest and say I love you to our loved ones.
:flowerforyou: Barb, when I first heard that you were walking so much I didn’t worry about the danger of bad guys on the trail. I worried about whether there were rest rooms and whether you remembered to put on sun screen.
As a footnote, the woman who cut my hair for four years before I moved from California met her husband online and the couple whose wedding we went to last month also met online (they were in their 50's when they met).
hugs to all
Barbie0 -
hi all, having a bit of NOT fun with this board tonight. here we are, and we leave again on Friday.
we got about 6800 miles this trip, and I've been catching up on sleep since we got in yesterday. I have plenty to do tomorrow, groceries, meds, etc.
Birdie, I read your post about getting hungry/ for me it is always about needing protein. I usually just do a scant tablespoon of peanut butter on a high fiber slice of bread, then follow with liquids.
we are getting a bit cooler here, thank goodness, we haven't needed ac.
I'm not talking much about weight these days, still trying to get the hang of alli. I haven't seen my poor wii games much either..
Gayla, I hope your friend makes it, so sad about the girlfriend. we see a lot of accidents.
That is funny if I read it correctly, that you went to work on one of your days off!!
Sandy, I understand your concern for your son, however, I learned the hard way, that my opinion is only that. From the sensitive reaction on your son's part, perhaps he has already considered the very issues that you brought up, and he may even slightly agree with you, but he doesn't want you to know it!!
I'm off to an early bedtime, so I can wake before noon tomorrow!
take care0 -
Hi all,
It was a gorgeous morning here... the air was clear and you could see the mountains and the sun come up and over them as we were running (only 2 miles)... Like I said pretty country if you can get over people wanting you to meet God earlier then you planned and the land mines.
marie - I will let you know when I send your package and its a surprise... I just have yet to make it to the post office
Gayla - so sad about the car accident I hope the young man recovers physically as well as mentally
Phoebe - way to many miles for me to want to deal with...but then again I have been confinded to a base that if you run the whole permeter its still only 7.9 miles. (not to mention that you can only drive 15 MPH all over the base)
Sandy - I am just tired... This has been a long deployment full of long hours...I honestly dont train like I should I just run and hope for the best. I figure I can gut out 19 miles in 3 days...I dont plan on doing much since its a half day the day I have the 5.6 mile run and its our off day on the 13.1.
Barbie - I am rather sick of the same thing all the time and it wasnt all that hot to begin with... I wont touch the tuna on the line so my 3 meals a day are almost always the same sometimes I toss in some thing they cooked but unless its mac and cheese night I am pretty much eating a wrap and veggies.
Have a great Thrusday y'all... it should soon be that there.
Beth0 -
Hello Beth , I can hardly wait to see my surprize. I know you are sleeping now but have a pleasant night and a wonderful day tomrorrow. And stay out of Harns Way Our nights are getting cooler and the days are warm. Nice weather for Texas.
Phoebe glad you are back home. Get you sleep in and get all of your busniess taken care of and save some time for us. I could hardly believe what I read about Gayla going to work on her day off and not realize it. She is ready for another Holiday. I have shown up on a an doctor appt. on the wrong day but never went to work on a day off. In fact there was a mixed up on my colonoscopy they told me the 26th over the phone and when I got my instructions thru the the mail it said the 24th. ?So ijust presumed they change date. When i check in they did not have me down for the 24t, But they worked me in Thank goodness after going thru all the prep work Sure would have hate to go thru that again in 2 days.
Everybody have a Wonderful Day!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou: ::laugh: :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou: And a Happy one!!!!!!!!!!!
