I will think about joining the pedometer site Barbie, I am committed to Walk Across America with my daughter and I am not sure I could keep up with all these blogs. I did do 45 minutes of Wii Active today and thought my pedometer would record as arobics steps but it is still at zero. It doesn't count steps very well when you exercise but my Wii Active shows me how many calories I burnt, which in today's case is 189. So if I get my steps in today I should have a good day.
Beth, as your adopted aunt, I can't wait for you to get home. How old is your child and is it a girl or boy?
I am sure you are missed. If I remember right, your dad is taking care of your child correct?? You might have explained all this before, but you have to remember I am old.
Tonight is bingo night but I am hoping to get Daisy to the dog park again this afternoon. I made an appointment to get her groomed tomorrow because I can't stand the dirt anymore.
Have a great Wednesday.

Today I weighed in and lost another lb. That’s 11 lbs since Aug. 14th. I was hoping for 2 but if I lose slower and exercise more… maybe I won’t hang as much when I get to my goal!   Anyways, I’m grateful that I lost… as last night I was feeling bloated and wasn’t really sure if I was going to lose at all, never mind 2 lbs!
Marie: This “coconut oil” sounds interesting to me. Does it taste like coconut? If it did I would most likely love it! Is it about 100 calories a Tablespoon?
Sammy’s afraid of ducks!!!   That’s so funny….but I’m sure not to him!!!:noway: :noway:
Gayla: Glad to hear your visit to the chiropractor went well. Thank God the headache is gone! :flowerforyou: So many people have been giving this chiropractor thing such positive ratings! You sound just like my husband who never believed in them until he was in so much pain and, as you said, meds weren’t helping etc. So he tried it and in his words…”When I go to the chiropractor’s office I literally crawl in and I dance out”. He feels it’s a new life for him since he’s been going! The only problem is that my doctor doesn’t believe in them so does not give recommendations. But nevertheless, I’m thinking of giving it a shot!
Beth: Only three weeks to go! You must be thrilled. I pray that the days fly by and you are back on US soil safely !!!
Sandy: You seem to be doing well with the pedometer! Too bad you didn’t live closer to Marie! You could help her! It sounds a bit challenging if you have to program it. Do you need a degree in engineering to get it going!!!
It's 5pm and I have to close up the office.
Have a great day….evening…or night all!!

Sandy you are the most young at heart that i know. you will never get old. Oh Daisy wont like the grommers. Sammy never has been to one. Jut the animal clinic. Jerry bath him.
Birdie, A lb is just grea t maybe next week is a 2 punder.
Yes the coconut oil does taste like coconut. If you buy any be sure it is a good quality. They tell me what Walmart sells in not good. I bought mine at a small herb store. I used 1 T. at every meal. It keeps me satidfied and don't wont to snack around. I put it in my soups ,scramble my eggs in it, And i even tried some in my coffee. And I loved the taste of it. I will post what it is all good for. Have to go back and find it to copy and paste.
Gayla, so glad you got some relief from your headache. You have such a heavy load to carry. Taking care of Neil and keeping your job and the household going. You are a very strong woman. And a dear friend too.
Now Phoebe where are you my child.?
Barbiecat, I have not got my pedometer set yet. Why do they make things so complicated. for us old folks. . We wont what everybody else has but don't know how to work them, I bough a new dvd and vcr recorder. But having someone out to hook it up and show me how to record a DVD. Jerry got the TV going OK. But we haven't open the recorder.
Elli missed you.
Hope all is well.
I had a low blood sugar this morning and ate more than i am used to. So hope I didn't gained any weight over it. I must have overdose on my insulin.
can't harly see that little black line. May have to get Jerry to give it to me.
We have not seen the sun in 5 or 6 days now. But we sure needed the rain. They said we got over 10 in.
See you guys in the morning!

Hi to you all from sunny Saskatchewan. I only have a minute as Neil is getting hungry. Dave is out again working on the fence construction. I just wanted to get back to you, Birdie, about the chiropractor. I do not allow neck manipulations, at least not the kind where they jerk your head from side to side. I have it on the front of my file *No Neck Manipulations*. Other than that I feel quite safe. There is always a risk in everything but I have to tell you that I have sure enjoyed not having a headache today.
Take care everyone and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Birdie I PM you the list of good stuff about coconut oil. I notice that about fungus. I have a fungus under my breast and the stuff the doctor give me helps but it just come back. I have notice it is a little better.since i have been taking coconut oil.

Hello all! Just checking in.
My food has been good but my spirits are running rather low. A difficult discussion with a loved one last night and this morning an email from one of my daughters who sounds like she's at a very bad place in her head and heart. :brokenheart: I know she suffers from clinical depression as I do, but she doesn't take the time to address it! She is so busy taking care of her kids, husband, her house, her band (she's a lead singer in a rock group), her financial situation is always in a shambles no matter how hard she tries etc. She prays, and thank God for that, but sometimes when you're out of control, you need counseling or even some medication. I REALLY DON'T BELIEVE IN TOO MUCH MEDICATION AS IT CAN MAKE YOU A ZOMBIE, but sometimes, just a little if you feel like you've hit bottom. If I didn't know that she does not believe in suicide (it goes very much against our beliefs and she has said , more than once, that it would never be an option for her) I would be afraid that she is heading there.
Please say a prayer for her, she's such a wonderful person but does have many burdens. :frown:
Birdie:frown:0 -
:flowerforyou:  Birdie, sorry to hear about your family troubles. I hope you have some good techniques that allow you to detach and not get dragged down by what is going on with others. Trust God and get busy with what's in front of you.
:flowerforyou: Marie, I usually try to post in the morning but today I lay around in bed with the dogs for a long time before I got up to walk them and then talked too much to Jake at breakfast and suddenly it was time to go to line dance followed by lunch (Jake made his famous salmon chowder----a friend gave us some salmon that she caught and we grilled it yesterday and used the left-overs in the chowder today) then I took the dogs to the dog park. When I got home, I couldn't stand the weeds I saw in the front yard so I pulled weeds for awhile. The roses and the weeks seem to be the things that are growing in the yard right now.
Jake hurt his back lurching to grab the golf bag that was tipping over so he's at the chiropractor this afternoon.
hugs,

Had a busy day today, with Daisy going to the groomer early, a meeting in the afternoon, a little shopping at Sam's Club and then dinner. I do not know where the day went. :glasses: Daisy looks great by the way and the groomer said she was pretty good, she loved the bath but not the dryer.
Birdie, Barbie is right, you have to take care of yourself and we honestly do not have control over anyone.
My son is bipolar and also in recovery for many addictions including drugs. With the help of Al Anon I am learning and it is a work in progress, to detach with love. My husband's daughter suffers from depression to the extent of hearing voices. She hates to take medicine also, but as you say there are certain cases where it is necessary. If my son didn't take his bipolar medicine he would be in and out of hospitals. Things are not easy in our lives especially with children, but we have to let go and let God handle what we cannot. Sorry didn't mean to preach, it is just my opinion.
Wow, Barbie, glad to hear that you actually can chill out for a little while. You need it every now and then.
Hope Jake's back is better by the time you read this.:flowerforyou:
Marie, guess it was a busy day for all of us. Good for you for walking around the block, I swear your going to pass all of us up and leave us standing still. More recipes for that virtual cookbook of yours huh? Your husband is one lucky guy to have you for a wife.
Now I am going to watch one of my favorite shows, Fringe. I will be back tomorrow spreading sunshine.
Sandy0 -
Hi Sandy, Glad Daisy like her bath. That's good. Well it is still raining here, Gosh over a week now.
We did get our walk in before it got here. I never did get my stride in my stepper, but the one tha's it is on is not off bad. I did get more steps in but it is pretty close. I will leave it in my pockets all day and hope I get it up to 2,000 today. That will make me happy, will be a happy camper. I left my walker out on the front porch so I can sneak some more walks in. How far have you gone on your walking trip with your daughter?
Everybody have a nice weekend.
Marie0 -
Oh Marie, I would hate all that rain, it is so depressing. Our weather has been wonderful, it is in the 70's with the sun shining. :flowerforyou: Makes me want to walk which I will do later with Daisy.
We had some excitement in our surrounding area yesterday and today. it seems a prisoner they were transporting from a jail to the court house manage to overtake his guards and escape. He hijacked a car and this morning he robbed a bank in the suburb not to far from here. They locked down my grand daughter high school, but she is fine. He hijacked another car and this time was spotted by the police and a chase started. He ended up crashing and was caught. In the meantime we got a call from our village telling us that he might have been spotted in our area, however I think they were wrong.
The good news is that he is caught and will now serve plenty of time in jail. JERK!!!
Just relaxing today, I woke up this morning and my weight was a my goal. I loved seeing the number but as I have stated I don't record it until it stays that way at least for a few days. Will update if that happens.
I just know none of this would have happened if I didn't join this site and meet all of you wonderful people.
Just want you to know how grateful I am for all of you.

Barbiecat and Sandy I got my meter going at last. I called their cuctomer service and they walk me thru it. I got in 4,000 STEPS today. It will be awhile to get in as many as you two get in. But every little step help I took Sammy with me. He just stays right by myside. He is going to expect it now.
The guy came out and hook our VCR and DVD going. And now we can't work it. They will be out again in the morning. He will have to spend more time with me..
Hi PHoebe, Gayla,, Hope you headache is still gone, Birfie. elli, Ellen, Jeffrey, and Beth. Wont be long till Beth get to come home.
I did get an E-mail from Phoebe, they have been out on the road since Laber Day. It was nice to hear
from her.
Good night all. Marie0 -
Good job Marie, 4000 steps is great, I only did 4750 today and I even took Daisy for a long walk. It is not easy to get 10,000 steps I haven't done it yet. Barbie goes to the dog park and walks there, once I see how the big dog park is Sunday maybe I will spend more time there.
Tomorrow, Daisy is going to obedience class. My son is going with me, so he can work with her while I am in Minnesota next week. I sure am going to miss her but my daughter needs me.
Will check in tomorrow morning, have a good night.
Sandy0 -
Hi folks! The weather seems a bit crazy lately. Our temps have been into the 90's this week. I think we are finally getting summer. It seems so odd for the evening to be so warm but the sun going down so early. We went to our local restaurant this evening and met several people that we know. I wonder how long I will remember how good my head feels without a headache!! Life is good. Now we just need to get Neil's blood work figured out. I think I am ready to back on the straight and narrow with diet and exercise. I am so frustrated that I let a little stress rule my life. It seems when your head hurts you just don't think clearly.
So sorry for so many people with children issues. It doesn't matter how old our children are, they are always our children and when they hurt we hurt as well. They don't know that until they are parents, of course. Sandy and Birdie, thinking about you and hoping today is better than yesterday.
Marie -- Sounds like you are doing great with your walking. Good job!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Keep smiling. Gayla0 -

:flowerforyou:Sandy, Our dogs like the bath, too. It took them awhile but now even Sasha will jump into the tub when Genny and Nathalie come over to bathe and groom them. They don't like the grooming part as much:laugh:  At our dog park almost all the owners sit on benches or stand under the trees and tell their dogs to run and play. Only a few of the them either walk or throw balls or play with their dogs at all. Besides walking at the dog park, I take the dogs for a walk up the hill one at a time in the morning (about 1300 steps) and with Jake's back still bothering him I do another walk up the hill and a couple of walks in the back yard. Today I went to my two hour line dance class. i usually get about 5000 steps there----not as many steps as taking a walk for that long, but my brain gets a good workout and there are breaks for interesting conversations with friends.
:flowerforyou: Marie, I'm so glad you got your pedometer going. 4000 steps is a great start. i think that's how Jake started. Of course, now that he's in so much pain and spending so much time lying on the ice bag he probably only got about 2000 steps today. He drinks so much water that he probably got most of his steps walking to the rest room.
every time I write some appointment on my calendar for October I think about Beth coming home. That will be a happy day.
:flowerforyou: Gayla, I'm so glad your head is still feeling better. We have some of that goofy northern weather
I wore my wool sweater one day and a short sleeved cotton shirt the next.
I have to work at the health fair tomorrow at the Isagenix booth because Jake won't be able to be on his feet that long.
Have a great weekend
hugs

Good Morning,
Trying to get my blogs and things done early since Daisy has a class this morning. It is another great day here, but again due to construction leaving the windows closed and air on. I dusted so much dust yesterday I thought I could plant something.
Hope everyone has a great day, great health and much happiness today. Remember one day at a time.

Sorry to hear about the dust still hanging around. It does bring one thing to mind. Since this has been going on a while, I hope you have been covering your electronics like tv's COMPUTERS, etc. when they are not being used. Dust can get in through the air vents in many electronic gadgets. The vents are meant to let heat escape, but that means environmental pollution can also get in. Dust is the kiss of death for electronics.
My ex learned a hard lesson when he failed to protect the tv and vcr that remained in the living room during a remodeling project that produced a lot of dust. On a positive note, he DID end up with a new tv and vcr:laugh:
Just a thought.
************************************''
I haven't been posting on this thread lately, just reading. Marie I am glad to hear that you triumphed over the settings on your new pedomenter. Sorry the DVD and TV didn't go as easily.
I have been in preparation for the likely addition of a third canine family member.:noway: A close friend lost two family members in rapid succession, and between them they had THREE Yorkshire terriers. Two of them are littermates of her own Yorkie, so all three of those are a bit "elderly"--like about 13 years old. She is keeping the two littermates, but there is a third younger fellow, named "Bradley" who has stolen my heart. He is big for a yorkie, but very mellow, well behaved, and NOT a "yapper" as Yorkies can be. He has been staying with someone other than my friend, but has been very miserable without other dogs around, and not getting enough attention to suit him.
She really didn't think she could cope with FOUR dogs, so on Sunday, we are having a "canine summit meeting" with my two, Pepper and Mai Li, and assuming there is no overt hostility upon meeting, he will join us in a couple of weeks. The spoiling part will come easily for me. Doggie walks are going to become more interesting. It is too bad I can't grow a third hand :noway: to go along with the third leash!
I have decided this would be a good time to get my carpets cleaned, as I figure if we start out without "temptations" in the house to cause "marking of territory behaviour" things might go more smoothly. So I will be completing this and other tasks before moving Bradley in.
I haven't gotten much solo walking in the past couple of weeks, just doggie walking. I have lost 5 lbs. so far in September.:flowerforyou:
I hope everyone has a great weekend.:flowerforyou:

Hey I have tried to post 2 different time. First I lost my post and the second time I couldnt ge it to move. So I cut it off and got envole in Roadhouse With Patrick S. And forgot it. Sammy and I getting out for a walk in a few minutes. I got a pot of vegetables chili on simmering. The movie lasted almost 3 hrs. Cut in on my walking time but I will have lunch out of it for awhile.
the sun has been out all day. After over a week of clouds and rain it sure is nice.
Jake Are you feeling better yet?
Gayla, glad you are feeling better.
Barbiecat. This meter is really nice. Only got a little over 2,000 steps on it So I got to get my butt up and get to steping.
Barbs, Enjoy you new doggie if you get it.

Elli, Been misssing you in the last few days.
Beth. I will be so glad when you get home.
birdie. Keep up the good work.
I am going to temp to get this posted See you guys later.
Enjoy your weekend.
Marie.0 -
Marie, I sure enjoyed seeing your photos. I feel like I know you better now that I can put a face to your posts. Thanks for thinking of me. We had another almost 2 weeks out with the RV, sunshine all the way, lots of walking by the lakes and campgrounds. Hated to come home. Bad news is it looks like I have gained 3 lbs. Must admit that I was not careful at all and am finding it hard to get to being accountable [ie writing down what I eat especially].
Will have to follow your example Barbie, and plan ahead for the day. One of the problems there is that my hubby isn't doing this with me, although he is supportive. But mostly I need to just bite the bullet and cut back on the intake.
Thanks all of you for your support.
Ellen0 -
Hi Ellen, so glad to hear from you.You have had a busy summer. soon it will be cold up there. Here too I hope. It has been a little cooler withe the rain and all. I always enjoy Gayla giving us the report from where she live. Snow and lots of it. We every seldom get snow.
You will get back in the groove with your weight lost. I have been on a hig fat diet and it is working for me. Not the rregular oil and stuff but coconut oil. Its really curbing my appetite and burning fat.And eating like a caveman. Haha
Its time to go get my supper. I am having chile with lots of veggies thrown in.
Hare a good evening
Marie0 -
:flowerforyou: Ellen, glad to hear from you again and glad to hear that you had a good RV trip. enjoy your memories of the fun you had and make a new beginning on your good weight loss habits. Never, never, never give up
:flowerforyou: Barb, you have a great plan in place for greeting you (possible) new dog. I wish all of you a happy life togetther:bigsmile:
I worked from 9:30 to 3:00 at the health fair today. Jake stayed home because of his back. He's doing enough better to be able to walk the dogs one at a time in the back yard. He's following directions and taking care of his back and it's feeling better. No golf for awhile
We had rain all night but things dried up during the day so the dogs and I could have our visit to the dog park after supper.
Now I'm exhausted and ready for bed
hugs
Barbie0 -
Hi everyone. While you are all tucked in bed I have to share with you that today I enjoyed the first vine ripened tomato from my garden. I hope to have a few more over the next week. I am not happy with my cucumbers, they taste good but they are the ones that get fat on one end and the small end curves around. It ends up wasting a lot. I cleaned the peas and bean stalks out of the garden today. I am hoping one of the boys can come out tomorrow and help me trim some trees and dig up some volunteer ones.
That's it for me. Pleasant dreams everyone. Gayla0 -
Goofd morning all.
Lets get this off to a wonderful week. Eat healthy. and exercise.
We can do it. Lets control our eating and not let it control us., Love

Good morning to all
The dogs have been walked. The cats have been out. The sun is shining.
Happy Sunday to all
Barbie0 -
Good Morning/Afternoon,
Went to the dog park this morning and put 5000 steps on my pedometer. Daisy absolutely loved this park. We went with my dil and granddaughter and their samoyed. Sadie, the samoyed loves the water and when she ran in Daisy went in right after her. The look on Daisy face was priceless since she had no idea where the ground went. She had such a ball with all the other dogs and we walked over 2miles through paths. My little 4 year old granddaughter was getting tired, as was her grandmother. Daisy came home with so much mud on her paws that I had to throw her in the laundry room sink and bathe her. I did a pretty good job but hope the groomer can give her another bath tomorrow since she has a whitener shampoo that makes her look great.
If I can muster up the ambition I hope to do some Wii Active to gain even more calories. I would like to get as much done today and tomorrow since I am not sure how much exercise I will get in Minnesota.
It is a beautiful day here and I agree, life is good.
Sandy0 -
Hi folks! It looks like we have an all day rain today which is good (I guess) after the hot weather we have been having. So glad I cleaned out the garden. I would really like to do a pot roast today so will do a grocery run and see what they have available. My freezer is looking a little lean. I have been emptying so I can clean it. Neil has been having a sore back and I have mostly been trying to keep him from focusing on it. He is complaining a lot less today so I am hopeful that it is resolving itself.
I don't think I mentioned that Neil and I went to look at the respite group home for him. He is quite pumped about it, thankfully. I am not so much (haven't told Dave yet). It has such an institutional feel to it even though there are only 3 residents there. It needs a bit of paint, I think the wheelchairs are hard on the doors. It isn't in terrible shape just needs a bit of love. The rooms all have hospital beds in them which won't make Neil happy. I know that because we use a hospital bed in our family room for him following his surgeries and he can never wait to get out of it. He (spoiled as he is) has one of those fancy electric beds that is really very comfy. However, I tried to stay excited for him as he really wants to give it a try and I really know he needs to move out. (My friends sister has always lived at home and now her Mom (98) has been ill and bed-ridden. The sisters have to take turns staying with them and even if they find a home for Mom, it will still be hard for the sister. I don't want our other boys to have to deal with that. Emotionally it is hard enough losing a parent. Wow, how did I get on that!!! Oh yeah, the respite home. Neil is booked in for 2 days next week. I hope he enjoys it and will be happy to go again. In the mean time we will keep looking for a more permanent home for him.
Have a wonderful Sunday. Take care and keep smilng. Gayla0 -
Sandy
So Daisy thinks she is a water dog. I bet she was adorable.
How long will you be gone?
Gayla, Well Neil is growing up. Will he be able to take his trike? I hope everything work out for him. And for you. And that they are not too bossy with him. He gets along well with people so he shouldn't have any problems. You are going thru a very differcate decision. But it is for the best in the long run. You and Dave need some time along. And Neil need to know you are not always around. God bless you.
Barbiecat, do you walk everyday.? I left my pedometer at home My last walk. I took it out of my pocket to read my meter and failed to put it back in. So that is 600 steps to add to it tonight. I would have walk further but I wanted it to count. I guess me and Sammy better get back out there if I want to get 4,000 steps in. I am running behind.
You 'all have a good day. And thanks for sharing your day with us.
Marie0 -
Just a quick post to tell you all that the "meeting of canine minds" went well today, just sniffing and wagging tails, so it looks like we are adding another member to our household. ME and three little doggies. I am outnumbered big time now !!!
Marie, I wish I lived closer to you, as your chili sounds yummy!!:flowerforyou:
Barb0 -
Good Morning,
Gayla, it isn't easy being a parent is it? I agree with Marie that you and Dave need some alone time, but on the other hand who knows Neil more than you do? It is wonderful that he wants to be on his own and maybe for the independence he won't mind the hospital bed. All you can do is try, if he is that unhappy you can wait until you find him something better. I hope he loves it for both of your sakes. :flowerforyou:
Marie, you have such motivation, you are like the Barbs. I am liking my pedometer, it is a new incentive to keep me motivated. Yesterday I did 9500 steps total, so that is near 5 miles of walking. Combine that with some other exercise and I should be able to shed those last two pounds. (as long as I eat right).
Leaving for Minnesota tomorrow morning, my daughter will have her surgery (hysterectomy) Wednesday.
I will try to stay in touch, time allowing. I am going to miss my Daisy soooo much, I hope she doesn't forget me while I am gone.
Barb, congratulations on the new puppy!!! How great are you to take in another dog? You have to be a great person, anyone who loves animals is my kind of person.
I will check in later to see how everyone's day goes. Enjoy it, life is good.
Sandy0 -
Hi Sandy and all the rest of you. Seems like we all had a producted week end.
I sent a PM of to Jeffrey last week and have not heard a thing from him. I am beginning to get worried about him. Hope all is well with Day, his girls and hisself.
