Hi everyone. Nothing much going on here. Dave has been helping a friend build a fence, Neil was out most of the day and I mostly nursed my headache. I think it is time to see my doc. I do think it is sinus pain but it still hurts! My kids are making dinner tomorrow which is a nice treat. I had bought some brussel sprouts and want to use them up so will take a b.s. casserole. It would be healthier to have them plain but hopefully it will taste good and entice even the non-lovers of sprouts to give them a try. I have had a bad week in both exercise and eating so it is time to get back on the wagon.

Beth -- Way to go, girl on finishing the marathon. You rock!

Sandy -- I will have to check and see if you have taken over the farkle lead!

Marie -- I don't know much about coconut oil, will have to look it up.

Barbie -- I need to dig out my pedometer even though it isn't a very good one. Maybe it will inspire me to get off my butt.

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend. Off to bed with me!

    Good Morning,

It sounds like last week wasn't the best week for some of us, with disappointments, health problems, slips and just plain sadness. TODAY is the first day of the rest of our lives!!!! It is a new week and we can do whatever we put our minds to do. We are all worth feeling good, looking good and being happy!!!

Gayla, you have had that headache for too long, I agree that you should go to the doctor. Do you happen to grind and/or clench your teeth when you sleep? I used to get constant headaches and once they gave me a tooth guard my headaches went away. I must be more relaxed now since I haven't used it in over a year. You are also under stress which produces headaches, so maybe you just need some sort of relaxer. Treat yourself to a massage, get rid of some tension.

Beth, great job on the run, who cares how long it took you finished. What an accomplishment!! We are so proud of our baby girl!!!! Start packing, you are coming home soon!!

Barbie, you and Jake are so close, I can imagine how much you much miss him. :brokenheart: Thank goodness it is only for three days, he will be home before you know it. Now that Daisy has her rabies shot, I want to take her to the dog park but I am a little nervous about doing so.
In puppy class all the pups are the same mentality, but at the dog parks they are all ages. I just don't want her to get hurt. :noway: My step son takes his dog and keeps asking us to take Daisy, so sometime this week I think I will give it a try.

Marie, I am surprised you haven't checked in this morning, you are our early riser. I hope you have a wonderful day with your daughter, tell her we all say hello. :flowerforyou:

Time for my coffee and newspaper.

    Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Oh Ibeen around. Been lurking all over the internet, I told Alice I would fix lunch for the games starts at noon. And she needs to help me get some floppy dish done on aome embroidery designs. I have done it tme and time but this time I am forgetting something. I have a bunch of Christmas designs I want to download on floppy dish. so my embroidery machine will take it but for some rson my mind just went blank. I am trying to make me a new Christmas vest.

I wish we had a dog park around our area, but as far as I know there isn't one. Sammy would love it if there was some smller dogs, he doesn't care for the larger dogs.

We went to the dog park for an hour this morning. It was cooler and there were birds to chase so Sasha and Brandy had a wonderful time and I walked about 5,000 steps while they played.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, at our dog park all the owners are attentive and the dogs are either pretty friendly or their owners stop the bad behavior immediately and take the naughty dog home or (like my dogs) they just go off and play by themselves. I hope you'll try taking Daisy to the dog park. I think you will both love it.

:flowerforyou: Marie, you are such a busy lady with so many hobbies. At our dog park there are two yards, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. I read in a magazine about a dog park that has a separate yard for older dogs.

I've talked to Jake on the phone three times already today. It's hard to believe that I was one of the people who said that cell phones were unnecessary

I have a long list of at home chores to do today and a couple of DVD movies to watch so the day should fly by. One of the chores on my list is to take a nap.

    Happy Sunday

Good afternoon everyone, just checking in.
Marie you ARE so busy. You remind me of my mother:love: I asked her about checking in to this thread once in a while and she said she might be too busy!!!   85 years old and the woman has so much to do! She makes knitted teddy bears for the local hospital and they give them out to the children there! She exercises with a group at the apartment complex where she lives and goes out to eat once a week with friends! She exercises every morning after doing stretches in bed and then she's off. SHE DOESN'T EVEN DRIVE!!!
So if you don't hear from her, just know she out there doing her mimpip thing! (her name is short for Memere Pepere with 13 kids!) One of the kids couldn't say it so they called them mim & pip.
As I've mentioned before, my dad died a few years ago, but she keeps that pip with her:love: What a couple they made! I know she dropped in once but don't be offended if she's MIA more than not:wink: GOD BLESS HER!!!
I had a good day yesterday and ate all my calories but didn't exercise because by back was stiff:frown: Today I felt better and did the treadmill, went to Mass and the store. Now I'm waiting for my two daughters, who are married, to come over and visit with my grandchildren. They are so special. I'll have to post their pictures when I have time:heart::heart:
Got to go before they come.
Like Sandy said , it is a brand new day and week, and we can make it whatever we choose to.

Hi everyone. Just waiting for tennis (US Open) to start. So much has been rained out but I think it will be the Men's Semi coming on when the ball game is done. Sad to hear that Nadal lost his semi. I really like his game and my sister doesn't like him so it is always fun to have a little rivalry. I will be going to Gregg and Sasha's at about 5:30 so have to get the brussel sprouts ready to cook at their house.

Sandy -- I do have a night clenching problem and sometimes I find myself clenching in the day as well. I do use a night guard and the headaches have been better but have been back lately. Have fun at the dog park when you decide it is time.

Marie -- Sounds like a busy day ahead. Are you still doing cards?

Barbie -- Hope you found a good movie! Enjoyl.

Birdie -- Your Mom sounds amazing. What an inspiration for you.

Better go find my tennis. Have a good day everyone. Gayla

    Happy Monday Morning!!

Marie, your Cowboys won and my Bears lost in the last two minutes of the game. :explode: I am not a sport's person but occasionally watch the Bears and unfortunately it seems whenever I do they lose.
Don't tell the Bears Fans that or they will never let me watch again.

Barbie, got the paperwork for my license for the dog parks, it is free to senior citizens, I just have to go get our passes and Daisy's tag. I am going to try the dog park this week and hope if she jumps in the water she doesn't get too matted. I will schedule a grooming for the next day just in case.

Gayla, hope your headache is better, if not I hope you will go to the doctor. You might have a sinus infection like you mentioned. I hate to see anyone under the weather, wish I could bring you some chicken soup. :flowerforyou:

Phoebe, Jeffrey, Elli,Jake, Sandi, Ellen , Mimpip, missing you and your adventures.

Today is our 18th wedding anniversary  although we have been together for 31 years, we didn't get married until after 13 years of being together. It was a second marriage for both of us and we took our time getting married. Funny though we didn't live together because even though I was 35 when we met, my mother would have never allowed me to live with him. I honored her wishes and eventually we got married.

Have a great day everyone, it is beautiful here!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

:flowerforyou: Marie,The dogs aren't allowed in the bed when Jake is here because they stick out their long poodle legs and hog the bed until someone finally has to get up and go sleep somewhere else (usually Jake ends up on the hide a bed in the living room). There are two lovely dog beds in the bedroom so we kick the dogs out of bed and send them to their own beds.

I invited both dogs to sleep with me but Brandy went back to her own bed. The one who plays in bed is Bernie, the cat. First he tries to play with me and when I push him away often enough he tries to play with Sasha. She puts up with it for awhile then she growls at him.

I watched the golf tournament yesterday and Tiger Woods beat everybody by eight strokes. Jake is the one who likes golf and we watch it so often on Sundays that I just put it on anyway. It was good to listen to as a went from room to room taking care of my chores.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Sandy, Happy Anniversary. You certainly showed restraint, patience, maturity, and a whole lot of other admirable virtues waiting so long to get married.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I hope your headache is better. I have some homemade chicken soup in the freezer. I wish I could bring it to you.

:flowerforyou: Birdie, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your grandchildren.

Have a great Monday----I'm off to line dance, then lunch, then the dog park.

Hi to you all from very rainy Saskatchewan! I woke up to a very loud storm and pouring rain. It was good to get a good soak although the farmers are not likely very happy about it. We only got a little wet doing our Monday errands.

Sandy -- Congratulations on your anniversary! I stopped in at the chiropractor today and he wasn't in so I will see him tomorrow. I decided that was a good place to start. The headache is the same, no better, no worse. Thanks to you and Barbie for the virtual chicken soup. I think it will help.

Barbie -- It sounds like the dogs are getting extra special attention. Soon Jake will be home and the dogs will be back in their beds.

Marie -- Hope you get good results with your tests. My youngest and his girlfriend live together. I hope one day they will get married but I try not to interfere (too much).

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

I found out today that one of Sasha's litter mates will be living in our neighborhood. I was walking Sasha on the hill and a woman stopped her car and rolled down her window and there was a red poodle that looked like Sasha only bigger. I knew that our friends with the poodles were looking for homes for some of the dogs (they have sixteen) so it was exciting to think that we will get to interact with one that will be living nearby.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I have had great success with chiropractors finding the solution to many ailments so I agree that going to the chiropractor is a good place to start.

I had a high calorie, low nutrition lunch and have been scrambling to gather enough exercise calories so I can have some sort of evening snack. I should probably be on the exercise bike right now.

We had some rain this morning but it's clear now. I hope it lasts so I don't have to walk dogs in the rain.

Jake has had some good success with his business so the trip was worth it. He'll be driving home tomorrow morning. Only one more night of sleeping with dogs

    hugs:heart::heart:

That is exciting about Sasha's sibling, how old are they? Remind me again, you have two dogs and two cats correct? Are your two dogs siblings and if not how old are they? And the same for the cats. I know you must have told me, but my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Enjoy the snuggling with your pups, tomorrow you can snuggle with Jake.

I walked 6216 steps today, it wasn't 10,000 but it was at least something. Daisy loves that I am walking since she gets to go with me. My son and I might try the dog park tomorrow depending on time.

Gayla, that is a great idea seeing the chiropractor, he should be able to help you with those headaches.
Please keep us informed and get better soon.

Marie, hope all went well with your daughter and with your tests. :flowerforyou:

    Time for bed.

I love my new pedometer Marie, it does so much but for now I am only counting steps. I have been averaging about 5000 steps a day, but hopefully will get that up to 10,000. I at least feel good knowing that if I miss exercising walking helps keep me in shape.

Today is my card day and we are playing earlier so I better get moving.

Gayla as we speak I am looking at a coupon to go to a chiropractor for an initial consult. My daughter gave it to me. She's going to one, and my husband swears by the one he goes to. Barbie seems positive about them too. They say that if your alignment is off it can affect your knees and your back etc. both of which occasionally bother me. The coupon is good for 2 weeks and I haven't made up my mind if I want to go or not. :ohwell: The "cracking" thing gives me the creaps:noway: Even when someone cracks their knuckles...I crindge!:embarassed: Let me know how you make out.

Birdie, there are a lot of new chiropractic methods today that don't include "cracking"
the first time I went to a chiropractor I was in so much pain I would have done anything. That man put me on the road to being mobile again.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Sandy, thanks for asking about my pets. Sasha, the red poodle, and Brandy, the black poodle are cousins. They have a common grandparent. We got them both from the same family (the family with the three lovely daughters (the oldest on died in June) who come to the house to groom the dogs. The family kept many of Sasha and Brandy's litter mates in addition to having both of Brandy's parents and Sasha's mother. When the parents (the human ones) decided to divorce followed by the death of the oldest daughter, they realized that keeping sixteen poodles was too much so they have been looking for homes for the two year old red poodles. We have resisted the temptation to take one more dog. Brandy was four years old in July. Sasha was two in June. The cats are Bernie, age almost three, and Haifa (the black and white one) age 14. I predict that the longer you carry your pedometer the more steps you'll record each day.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Marie, I'm glad you got your pedometer. Remember, it's not a competition with anyone but yourself. Just keep getting more steps for yourself. Congratulations on the weight loss. You never give up. I'm glad to hear about your TV and recorder. TV can be the best companion in times of stress, bad weather, illness, boredom, or just about any time.

:flowerforyou: Birdie, I'll be thinking good thoughts about your weigh in tomorrow,

Jake came home this morning   and after taking care of some business phone calls and giving me time to take the dogs to the dog park, he invited me to go to the golf course with him. I walked along with him for nine holes. He felt so good that he's going to walk for eighteen holes tomorrow.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I hope your aches and pains are gone.

Hey Barbiecat and Jake, uou two are such darlings. Well we didn't get my steps meter working. Will called that customer Service in the morning and see if they will help me. My grandson came by tonight and he look at it but he couldn't figure it out either. He is working for my brother in his cap and t-shirt business. Which is about 2 blocks from my house. That kid just wont grow up. I don't know how many jobs he has had and something always go wrong.

been watching the biggest loser. boy Julian and Bob has got there work cut out for them.

i had a good supper tonight, Chicken tenderloin cook in my turbo cooker. and it look like fried chicken and 1 c of spinach with 1 T of coconut oil and a little cheese melted on top. I do think the coconut oil kept the weight off of me this week. We will see next week how it goes.
Good night and see you all tomorrow.

Barbie, your pups are just that "pups". Can you imagine 16 dogs in one household? I do hope they have a farm or acres of land. Your pets are very lucky to have you and Jake, they go to the dog park everyday and get lots of love from you. My son and I took Daisy to a smaller dog park in our area this afternoon, she loved it. It was fun to watch her play with the other dogs and run like a mad woman. There is another park that has acres of land and also a pond for the dogs that my step son wants us to bring Daisy. My husband and I are just afraid of her getting so muddy and matted but as of now I made an appointment with the groomer on Monday thinking we might take her Sunday. Looking at her tonight though I think she could use the grooming sooner.

Marie, did you get the pedometer that Barbie suggested? There is a battery that you have to put in the back before using it. Then just push the mode button until it goes to steps. The battery was separate in the box, along with the holder and clip. Hope that helps.

Birdie and everyone else, thank you for the good wishes on our anniversary. :flowerforyou: I have never been to a chiropractor, but I have been for many massages and love them. It sure helps with the tension in your body especially my neck. Good luck on your wi tomorrow. I happen to weigh myself everyday and I am just staying the same, can't seem to lose those last two pounds.

Talk to you in the morning.

Sandy I did get the one Barbie suggested but havn't been able to get my stride in. They have a # to call for customer service and I will call them tomorrow. To see if they can walk me thru it. Jerry and I went out and measure my stride but don't know how to get it in. We got the time going right.
glad Daisy had a good time. I have taken Sammy to the city park that has a lake and Sammy had no intention of going in. Probable scare of the ducks. He is such a wimp. Its not a dog park. We don't have one that I know of. When we walk here at home we do not put a lease on him.there is nor traffic except our niegbors We only have 5 houses on our side street. Like I said he is a wimp and wont get to far from his Momma and Daddy. See you tomorrow. .Marie

Hi everyone! I did, indeed, go to the chiropractor and I do feel a bit better. He worked very close to my neck, an area that I haven't had a problem with before and that is what had me fooled. My back usually tells me clearly where the problem is. He wants me back Thursday to make sure it has stayed in place. It seems odd not to have my head pounding. I think I will try to get a massage done next Monday. About the chiropractor, I had never considered going to one until I desperately needed one. Following a car accident I had an injury to the T4T5 area of my spine. I was doing physio, taking drugs and nothing was helping. I 'didn't believe' in chiropractic medicine, it didn't seem to go with my medical background but when a girl is desperate! I knew I couldn't live with the back pain I was experiencing. I swear the chiropractor was like a miracle for me and I still find it to be so. I don't really understand it but it makes the difference from living a pain filled life and one without pain (for me). I only go when I am having problems, usually about every 2 months for a couple of adjustments and then I am good until the next one hits. This headache had me fooled but I think I am on the way to pain free. I haven't even taken any Tylenol tonight. Of course, the kicker is that you need to find a good chiropractor. I know there are some bad ones out there. My response about the chiropractor was rather rambling but for what it is worth that is my opinion!!

Marie -- Way to go on the wt. loss!! You must be feeling good. My diet has not been great this week. Perhaps now that I am getting myself together I can attend to it. I do find it much easier to diet when I am on holidays.

Barbie -- Glad you have your Jake back.

Birdie -- Hope the info. about the chiropractor helps. My family doc made the referral for me so I felt confident that it was a good one.

Sandy -- Daisy is growing so fast, but still cute as can be. Glad she liked her play in the park.

Take care everyone and keep smiling. Gayla

Hi all... the count down has started less then 3 weeks and I will be homeward bound...I can not wait to see the kiddo and what dad has done to the house... everytime I am gone he turns my house into a project... its insane. I am feeling really good after both those runs last week...I looked at the log and I ran over 25 miles last week...so guess its time to start running 5 miles at a time all the time except days I am working on speed.

Gayla- glad to hear your feeling better hope things are going well for Neil and all his blood work
Marie- I still have yet to make it to the post office.. I will promise I will be in Wichita Falls for Thanksgiving I can not wait.
Sandy- the last base I was at we made a dog park and the dogs seem to have as much fun as the owners who sat and talked while the dogs played.
Barbie- glad you have your Jake back :) I am sure he missed you as much as you missed him

Hope everyone has a great day
    Beth

there is a new challenge on "Fitness and Exercise" about walking with pedometers. I joined it. the idea is to set your own goals of steps and keep each other motivated. That would be great for those of us with pedometers.
