:flowerforyou: Sandy, I'm so glad that Daisy likes the dog park. We don't have a pond but right now there is a problem with part of the underground watering system so there's a place where water is running constantly and there's a huge puddle. Brandy and Sasha walk into it and drink the water and smell the different smells that the water brings to the grass. Some of the other dogs come over and splash and get all muddy. A few dogs like to put their front paws in the water buckets that are meant for drinking and splash water all over. Right now Sasha keeps coming over and nudging my hands to remind me that we go to the dog park after lunch.

:flowerforyou: Barb, I'm so happy for you and your new dog. There's a woman who comes to the dog park with three Aussies, one big and two little. When I saw her yesterday I thought of you walking with three dogs, one big and two little. The other reason this woman made me think of you is that last winter she was at the dog park walking with her dogs in spite of the cast she had on her leg. Nothing could keep her from walking and taking her dogs out (just like you  )

:flowerforyou: Marie, I have developed a system with my pedometer after having it for so long. It took awhile. When I first got it, I accidentally left it in my pocket and ran it through the washing machine and had to buy a new one.    Now, at bedtime I put it in a special place in the kitchen and when I get up in the morning I get it put it in my pocket before I walk the dogs. That way I can count all my steps for the day.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, it will be a good thing for Neil to have to consider many things about his decision to live more independently and that will help him even more with the feeling of independence.

Jake's back is better and the chiropractor told him to do some walking today. So he walked for an hour and now is napping and resting his back.

I think the dogs have won the debate about whether it's time to go to the dog park:laugh:

    Talk to you later

Just checking in. My weekend had a few surprises that threw me a curve. I had a cookout to go to Sat because my sister got married Fri night and my entire family was going to be there:happy: I planned really well. Did my treadmill for 65 min, had a good breakfast and off I went. For food I ate the salads, fruit and veg and a broccoli dish. Then had a glass of wine, followed by another glass of wine. I was so careful about the food and can remember saying that I better eat something because of the wine. I had a deviled egg and 2 crackers but another glass of wine. I was there for over 6 hours, so it was easy to drink more than I ordinarily whould because it was over such a long period of time! We were having the time of our life until I realized I had a little too much wine.:noway: My calories were fine but boy was I sick that night!!!  All day Sunday I couldn't do anything, no treadmill, no church....I was sick!!!:grumble: How embarassing! :embarassed: :embarassed: :embarassed:

Today is Monday and I am still shacky and a little sick to my stomache, and of course have not done the treadmill since Sat.! :frown: I have not tracked my food but know I haven't eaten enough, so I am trying to eat 3 healthy meals today!

I guess, besides the exercise and the calories, we have to be very careful with what we drink:blushing: Ordinarilly I would have been eating and drinking and there wouldn't have been a problem but WHAT A WAKE UP CALL! A lesson learned.!!!! Never again!!

I am back and heading in a better direction!
Thank goodness for Mondays!:drinker: :drinker: Water...not wine:laugh:

Congrats to anyone who had a good weekend and are losing weight!

 Hi from sunny Saskatchewan. The rain was nice but glad for sun today. Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts for Neil. I know it will be fine and this will not be his perm. home. It is only for respite which is a good way to start. Dave and I would really like to do a holiday for more than 3 or 4 days. We often talk about a cruise to Alaska so if the home works out and we enjoy the Feb. cruise that will likely be our next holiday.

Sandy -- You and your daughter will be in my thoughts. I hope all goes well.

Marie -- How does your Dr. feel about the coconut oil? She must be happy with the results. You are always so brave about trying new things.

Barbie -- So glad that Jake's back is getting better. You will enjoy his company on your walk.

Barb -- Congrats on the addition to your family.

Birdie -- We all make mistakes, sorry yours had to be so painful. I think you need some bread with alcohol.

Have a good week everyone. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

I just went to her this morning. Also to my colonopy Docter this afternoon. Didn't tell me a thing that he haven't already told me. No signs of cancer. But did want to see me in 3 years. I think he just wanted me in to get that insrance money. For when I call about an appoinment they mail all the information out me. Did not see the doctor till i was in the surgery room. When will Neil go to his new place? I hope it all work out just fine

Marie -- So glad everthing is coming up roses. Neil will be going to the respite home for 2 days next week. I wonder how many phone calls I will get while he is there. Maybe he could forget his cell phone at home. At this point I am more anxious than him.

Gayla this is a big change for you and for Neil. You are going to have to be tuff. I went thru all of that with my MoM . Would get phones calls all during the night from the nurses and would have to go in and calm her down. I felt so sorry for her. but I was not in shape to handed her at home. And she was in the best nursing home around. And you will see a big difference in your health too. This is one of the best move that you could make. I know it will be hard, But it is the best thing for Neil and yourself. How far is it from your house.? Hange in there and keep us informed Love ya, Marie

PS I lost 1 lb. After the big lost lasst week II was not ecpecthing much of a lost. But a # is a #. I will take it gladly.

    Good Morning,

Just a quick note to tell you that I am leaving for Minnesota this morning. My daughter's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and she wants to explain what I have to do for the home schooling of her boys. I will go to the hospital tomorrow to stay with my sil. I wouldn't be able to concentrate if I didn't know what was going on with her. She has made arrangements for the boys.

I will try to stay in touch, but if not keep on working on those goals, both physical and mental.

    Sandy,

I hope your daughter's surgery goes well. If I remember correctly, you previously said she was having a hysterectomy. I had one in January, laparoscopically, and it was the best thing I have done for myself in years. Now every month has 4 livable weeks instead of 3!! I wish her well, and your SIL.

    Take care of you too.!!:flowerforyou:

I did post another lb. gone today, so that is a good thing.

Hello Marie, good luck with your weigh in.

I am just on for a moment. My work schedule is different for yesterday and today, so I don't go in til 8a PT-taking a training class  instead of working.

:flowerforyou: Barbs,. uou are doing fine. Delelcations. is the name of this game. I have had my morning walk in. Got about 1700 steps in. It is nice and cool this morning. Had a good little storm last night and another one on the way. I am down 1 lb. at WI. nor much but after last week if 6.6 lbs I wasn't exspecting a real good lost. Maybe next week. So I gladly take it.

Sandy good luck for your daughter. We will missed you. You are so kind to everyone here.

:flowerforyou: Barbiecat, I like getting my steps in at wal mart for it is so smooth walking and have things to see.
Our old roads are so bumpy and. You would think we are out in the country. but we are not. we are just about a block from town. We are in an old neighberhood At least we don't have to worry about traffic here on the side road just the one in front of house is a busy one. So we stay off of it. And the city do not keep our roads up.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I wish I could share some of your burden with you. I will keep you and Neil in My prayers. Everything is going be fine.

Hey :flowerforyou: Beth are you all pack and ready to come home., ????

:flowerforyou: Birdie ,Just keep on your program and exercise.

:flowerforyou: Ellen glad to hear from you. When will you all settle down and stay at home.

:flowerforyou: Phoebe, You work to much.

    :flowerforyou: for you, Elli

Hello all. I am not MIA but still sick. I have been advised to see a doctor, as wine should not make one sick this long.:frown: :noway:

I am trying to track food but I haven't exercised since Sat:ohwell: Nothing I can do but wait until I feel better and then back on the treadmill!

You are all in my prayers. I read the posts but am too tired to address each one. Will get back to you just wanted to say HI!

    Birdie,

Being sick IS for the BIRDS, but NOT OUR Birdie:laugh: Get well soon. :flowerforyou: It sounds like you might have picked up something beyond an overabundance of wine, so I am glad you decided to see a doctor.
No doubt you have experienced a weight loss, but that is not a fun way to be successful at losing.

I go back to my early bird schedule on Wednesday. Good evening to all.

Jake and I just got back from a 70 minute walk on the Olympic Discovery Trail. We drove to the parking lot nearest our house and walked twice on the same route so if Jake's back got too tired we could get back to the car quickly. This is a pretty section of the trail that goes through a wooded area and over what was once a railroad trestle.

:flowerforyou: Another friend brought us fresh caught salmon and Jake part of it along with mushrooms and summer squash. We have the rest of the salmon in the freezer for another day.

:flowerforyou: Marie, I like walking at WalMart, Costco, and Target. For me they are great places to walk when it's too hot or raining. congratulations on your weight loss.

:flowerforyou: Birdie, I hope you feel better soon.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I'm thinking good thoughts for you and your daughter. She is so fortunate to have you willing and available to look after her and her kids at this time.

:flowerforyou: Barb, congratulations on releasing another pound. Remember that slow and steady wins the race. One pound at a time you'll get where you're headed.

I'm going to get on the exercise bike with the TV on before bedtime and then have a great bowl of cereal. Life doesn't get any better than this.
    hugs to all:heart:

I didn't get much walking in today. the old back and legs acting up.But I do love this HJ720ITC STEP COUNTER. IT IS FANTASTIC. Gotta walk around the house some to get it up to 3,000. It is nice and cool here just right for walking/ and sleeping too.

    Good morning,.
Thank you all for your regard. Again just a brief note. My doctor believes that I picked up a "bug" that I was attributing to my "wine on an empty stomach". I have a slight fever so was told to stay out of work today. :frown: I miss the treadmill but know I would be foolish to even think about it, feeling weak, sick to my stomach and dizzy.:ohwell: I have kept my food clean and have lost another 2 lbs (as today is my weigh in). That makes 13 lbs since Aug 14th. Something to feel good about  I believe the weight loss is legit as I have not been vomiting or had diarea.

Going to rest, drink water and NOT eat something I shouldn't ,just because I don't feel well.
I am reading the posts and send my regards to all even though I don't comment on them individually. Have a wonderful day everybody:love:
    God Bless!

    Hi all,

The second day of Autumn and Barb is off to the dog park with the girls. I still can't go because of my back. Today was the first day since the incident where I felt that I was going to get through this thing. I'm amazed at how much energy it takes to deal with intense pain. I very often meditate my way through pain there were times with this thing , however, when the pain was non- stop for 24 hrs. I don't like to take medications and last night I finally dropped the rock and took two Extra Strength Tylenol and presto I slept the rest of the night and woke up pain free. I stayed that way till right around noon when I got a little tense over something. :explode: I noticed that stress affects the muscles in the back. Hmm! I guess my troubles are of my own making. :ohwell: Go figure.:embarassed:

We'll go for a walk later this afternoon and I get a haircut also. Interesting stuff huh?

The weather is still beautiful I suspect it will stay that way for a while, probably till it's time for me to get back on the golf course. Oh well I like playing in inclement weather and when it's too bad I'll just do something else. I still work some everyday as does Barbie maybe the winter will allow us to get more done, who knows.

So thought I'd poke my nose in for a while and say hi, I really do think about you guys.
remember water is your friend. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

  • hi all, hope you are doing great. Marie, I like the walker you are using, it is one with a seat isn't it?

I won't be able to catch up on all of the posts , eight pages!! well, I have scanned the last page, and so: Sandy, I hope your daughter is doing fine, and that you enjoy your visit, even though you will be busy.
Birdie, I'm glad you are feeling better, it may have been that you were coming down with something, and the change in diet/drink just threw your body a curve ball.. they say all those good things about wine these days, they never say it will make you sick!!
Gayla, so Neil is going to try a new place.. I so hope it goes well for all of you. Does he tend to act 'better' around his peers than when it is just mom and dad with him? Three residents might be best to start with, not so overwhelming. I understand this is only for a few days and not a permanent solution, but bravo to all of you for thinking ahead.
Marie, sorry you are having a bad day, I still have back pain, but not as bad as it was. Still having stomach issues. nausea, or vomiting about once a week. had a spell of it today, it will spoil my dinner I think.. finally getting field peas, which I have craved for nearly two weeks.
We are not flooded here, except in the garage, which always gets wet in heavy rain., it is pretty bad elsewhere, though. we have had sun today, which I guess must seem mighty good to all of the people here who have endured all this rain. We didn't even get in much rain on our travels. But, I was glad to hang out blankets and rugs today.. I'm still tackling laundry mountain.. three more loads to go. take care
I'll check in with you all tomorrow.

Hey Phoebe, while you were away I caught with you on your ticker.
Glad you are home. I was kind of worried about the floods there in Ga. Glad to hear you are safe. When will you have to leave out again? I hope not soon. I got me a pedometer and today I hit over 5,ooo steps. pretty good for an old lady. Some day I hope to reach 10,000. I like walking in Walmart the steps really add up while you are having fun.
Eveerything is about the same here at my house. The weather is a little cooler. With lots of rain.Sammy and i have been keeping these roads hot walking I have two incline to walk up but coming back all dowthill.Got to fix my supper just finish Jerry Gravy for the next 4 weeks. He freeze the rest and will last him 4 weeks.I think I will have a big salad tonight haven't had one in awhile.
yes my walker has a seat.
    Welcome home

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Phoebe, it's good to hear from you again. If I miss even a day, I have a hard time catching up on the posts. It's amazing that you got on the computer at all with all the things you have to do after being gone so long.

We had a simple easy day today---slept late because the cats and dogs don't wake up so early because it's dark, line dance, lunch (ground turkey burger with Fat Daddy bbq sauce, salad, green beans), dog park, exercise bike, business related stuff on the computer, and a visit to the store to buy a sweater. My wardrobe is pretty lean since I lost weight and I add to it slowly.

I'm going for a walk with my friend this evening to celebrate her birthday . We agreed that neither of us wants to go out to eat. so we look for things to do that don't include food.

hugs to all    drink that water:drinker: :drinker:

Just a quick hello as I am back to work and on overload. Because I've been sick my back hurts, that's what happens when your off your feet so long. So needless to say, I didn't exercise today. The foods been good, though.
I think I know what was making me sick.:noway: I noticed that the paper towels, that I wrap my lettuce in, after I wash it, was pinkish. I had a bag of raw chicken wings on top of that drawer and they must have leaked into the bin:noway: :noway: :noway: The thought of it makes me sick!!! I had to throw out all my produce and clean that bin real good!!! Tonight I'll put some wet heat on my back and hopefully will be OK tomorrow. I never thought I would say this, but I actually miss my treadmill!!!
Sending hugs to all. Reading posts but real quick and can't reply to each one. Those who need prayers, you got them. Those doing well Congratulations. AND THOSE TRAVELING HOME GOOD LUCK!!!

A very quick hi to you all. We are once again into the 90's and setting temperature records for this time of year. Sure is crazy, but gotta love it!!

Marie -- Neil is fine, still excited about going for his short respite stay next week.

I have to drop my car off at the shop for a check-up. I drive a government car which requires it be taken in twice a year, kind of a pain but whatever works. My girlfriend is picking me up from the shop to go into the city for dinner with my sister and then out to a play. It should be a great evening. I hope the play is lively as I am tired!! I don't want to be snoring, not sure the sound effects would be appreciated.

Back tomorrow. Have a nice evening. Gayla
