oh Gayla - so sorry about Neil's no surgery! I can't believe you have to wait 3 months now! SO disappointing!!!!!!:grumble:

Thank you Birdie - short term goals - i like that. And Sandy, you're SO right - because we're so close to goal we think we can just eat whatever we want......and if you'll notice i'm now FOUR pounds away instead of 3:grumble: oh well.........

Hey Marie - are you back on that tryke yet????? I love all your new pictures! My kids (Soldier/son and his wife) are headed down to Arlington TX this morning. One of his Soldiers is getting married down there on Saturday. I think they'll have a fun road trip!

I didn't make the gym yesterday ( i can't believe how sore i STILL am from my first day back MONDAY!), my friends who helped me the most with the house invited me for dinner and it was SO nice to just go hang out with them without having to talk about what we have to do NEXT on the house! I mean, we still have some stuff to do but it's no longer first and foremost in our minds! WHEW!

I'll try and post again tomorrow morning - I'm taking off in the afternoon for Creede, CO with my younger son and his girlfriend. My niece is getting married down there on Monday so i'll be gone again for a few days. But i'll be back faster this time!!!!! I wish i would be like Barbie and Jake and not eat bad stuff while i'm away but i just KNOW that's not going to happen!!!!!!!!!!

    Have a great Thursday everyone!

Just a quick hello again. I'm at work so can't post too much. I went to see my mom last night after work and got home late, so I'm a little tired today!
My food was a little under but not on purpose. The day just got away from me.:indifferent:

Here's another question regarding this site. Under "goals" I am trying to put that I want to lose 2 lbs a week. They keep calculating it for 1 lb. a week no matter what I do. My mom is having the same problem. I t keeps setting her up for .6 lbs a week and that's not what we're entering in the "change goals" sections. Any ideas????

    Good Morning,

Welcome MImpip, how great to have you with us. It is wonderful that you are so active and take such good care of yourself. I think you will probably be our role model and Barb and Jake might lose their title. Marie, you are no longer the "elder", but you will always be our hero.

As far as the goal thing, I think they do it according to your height, weight etc. I also tried to put in 2 pounds a week and it never accepted it. It might mean that with the information you gave them, the maximum goal they think your body will lose is what they post. Just go with the flow and if you lose more put it on your ticker.

Gayla, so sorry about Neil's non surgery. There is nothing worse then getting yourself prepared for something then have it fall through. I am sure Neil was disappointed also and now has to wait so long for the surgery. God sure gives you a lot to handle, you must be a special person.

Elli, you have fun at the wedding and with your son. Don't worry about the food until you come back.
You deserve a little time for yourself and can get back to the swing of things when you return.

Got to run, have a hair appointment, talk to you later.

Birdie, I don't think you can plan to lose 2 pounds a week unless you are seriously obese. Stick to the 1200 calories a day plus some of your exercise calories. Stay really active. Eat only high nutrition foods and you'll get good results, maybe even a faster weight loss.

Hi everyone from cloudy Saskatchewan. We have our heads around missing the surgery now. It was a surprise so just takes a bit of adjusting. I was hoping that he would be able to get in and out of the pool on the ship without so much discomfort as well as other things. For the other stuff though we can use the wheelchair. In the great scheme of things, nothing huge that we can't work around. Now that I am relaxed (right) I wish my headache would go away. I guess the relaxed part will come after a diagnosis is made about the blood clotting situation. We, nurses, can't help ourselves when it comes to self diagnosing. Three months seems like a short wait to me except that it interferes with our triip (he won't be mobile in time). I do hope that it will be a much shorter wait to see the hematologist as I am stressed about that. One of the problems with socialized medicine is that there are long waits for specialists, surgery, etc. The alternative is grim in my view. I am not sure how we would ever have paid for the enormous medical needs that Neil has had over his lifetime. He has seen Doctors from BC to Quebec and has gone to the U.S. for tests that were not available here at the time. His drug bills are staggering each month but thankfully are almost fully covered. This will be his 6th orthopedic surgery in addition to a few others. Sometimes life is expensive for those least able to pay. Ok, off my soapbox now!!

Marie -- Sorry you had a gain, likely it is fluid again. Will you be seeing your doc? Are you feeling ok otherwise?

So glad your Mom is joining us Birdie. Welcome Mlmpip!

Barbie -- You look smashing in your red sweater and yes, I can see a difference in your pics! You are amazing and I am proud of you!!

Sandy -- That crazy Farkle game is my undoing!! I did enjoy taking the lead but I know it won't last long. Do you play scrabble? I really am not special, in fact I often wonder if I am being punished for something. :frown: Just kidding. Everyone goes through bad times, I think I just share mine more readily and I do appreciate the support.

elli -- I will never get over being in awe of your revovations. You have a wonderful spirit and I am glad you share it with us. Also glad you have your boy home.

Beth -- How is the running going? You, too, are inspirational.

This is quite a group that Marie assembled. I am so happy that I followed Marie and Phoebe here.

Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

    Good morning all,
It's a cool damp day in RI but I still love this fallish weather!

I had a nice experience last night as the result of some weight lose. I went shopping for my niece's wedding, for something for myself. I HATE SHOPPING!!!! After trying on a lot of clothes I found the perfect top. It's a very pretty black, white and grey lace jacket (overlay) over a black tank top. It's very classic and feminine and will look lovely with dress black pants anf heels:love: . I actually saw a difference with my body trying on these clothes. Not a big difference but enough to feel better about myself and feel like I had a few more options than I usually have.

Going shopping is a real incentive to lose weight. I realized that I am sick and tired of the limited choices I have, IF... I want something that looks flattering. Layers, loose tops etc. I WANT TO WEAR SOMETHING WITH A WAIST! I came home more determined than ever to stick with it and make it happen. CHOICES HERE I COME!

Because I went from work to the store ( which was a last minute decision to pick up something else) I didn't eat my dinner. I wasn't going to look for clothes but it just happened. I had a serving of almonds in the car that I ate but by the time I came home, it was too late to eat all my calories. I'll make sure I do today.
Have a great day and hang in there Gayla!

Beautiful sunny day here in Itasca, but due to the construction going on behind my house, we leave the air on. Otherwise we get so much dust in the house, it is terrible. I love the windows open but would rather not have to dust all day long.

Birdie, isn't it a nice surprise when you shop and realize things are as tight as they used to be? I too actually can wear clothes that are more stylish due to weight loss. I love it!!! Be careful to eat all your calories or your body will go into starvation mode and produce more fat. :glasses:

Barbie, don't you just hate when the internet goes down? I think I start withdrawal as soon as that happens. I am planning on getting a laptop for a backup in October when Windows 7 comes out. I really don't want to deal with Vista, since so many people have problems with it. I got my new pedometer in the mail yesterday and will start using it today. Looking forward to adding up lots of steps.

Marie, you must have a lovely yard with trees and gardens. :flowerforyou: Did you go back to bed and snuggle with Jerry? Hmmmm sounds good. :blushing:

Have a great Friday and a Great Weekend.

No Sandy I didn't snuggle with Jerry. Sammy went in and he delight in waking Jerry up. So we just all stayed up.

I am cooking a hamburger soup for lunch
Wish I could have some cornbread with it but Until I get some of this weight off, I will have to wait on that

Birdie M sounds like you are one busy lady. It was nice meeting your Mom. Tell her to get back on and post some more..

Hi everyone. We had a lovely day today but I didn't get outside. My plans to clean out the gardens were waylaid due to lazyness. I still can't seem to shake the headache. It isn't terrible, just there. Dave went out for lunch with his friends and Neil and his buddy went out for lunch so I watched the food network. I think the kids are coming out for dinner Sunday so I better get some dust removed!! There is construction going on down the street from us and it really seems to have created more dust. I think a person could dust daily and still have dust. I am not that ambitious. I did manage to get some sheets in the washer but forgot to hang them outside so I will throw them in the dryer. I have some bread baking in the breadmaker. I haven't used it for awhile and am hoping it turns out ok. Chicken catiattore (sp) is in the oven and smelling good. It is actually a very healthy dish as I make it with lots of veg. I just need to make some rice and we can eat.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Keep smiling. Gayla

The internet is working....it turned out to be "operator error" and the repair guy was nice enough not to laugh when he said that the cord was plugged into the wrong place on the modem and he didn't charge us

:flowerforyou: Beth I am thrilled about your running success today and wish you the best tomorrow.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I can't wait to hear how your walks are going with your new pedometer

:flowerforyou: Gayla, all your cooking sounds great. We had turkey burgers with salad and some interesting mixed stir fry vegetables.

:flowerforyou: I love cornbread, too, but Jake doesn't so I haven't made it in years. The last time I ate it was at a potluck a long time ago.

:flowerforyou: Birdie----wearing cuter clothes has been one of my biggest inspirations for losing weight. I was so excited the first time I bought jeans that I could wear with a belt and tuck my shirt in.

Someone brought a lot of homegrown apples to line dance today and not too many people wanted any so I have a lot of apples for making apple sauce. I cook the apples with the peel, run it through the food mill, add some cinnamon and freeze it in small containers to serve with oatmeal in the winter.

Now it's time to get on the exercise bike and drink some more water:drinker: . I forgot yesterday.

    Good marnig all!

Congrats Beth, must feel good to be able to do so well!:flowerforyou:

    Gayla, your making me hungry...MMMMMMM:tongue:

Barbie, my husband works in computers and so often someone calls in troubleshooting and they just forgot to turn the computer on so don't feel so bad
Just too bad you lost that time being online:frown:

Yesterday I went over by about 150 calories. I had some drinks last night that didn't put me over, but got nervous about taking some medication before bed without eating some crackers or something. I get a little concerned about the interaction between alcohol and meds. I was just going to exercise a little more today but woke up with an achy back:grumble: Not sure I should attempt it. I think I'll just be sqeeky clean, eat my alloted calories and tons of water. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Tomorrow is another day and I should be fine as long as I don't overdue activity today!

I bought some meal replacement product from GNC called "Lean Shake" . Anyone familiar with it? They didn't carry the ones you've talked about unless I got the name wrong:huh: It's 180 calories and you make it with water. It contains milk, corn and soybeans.
Anyways I just bought a couple pouches (1 serving ea) to try them. We'll see.
    Have a good day all!:flowerforyou:
    Still raining here:frown:

Good morning all, Since we are taking about food. I made some good turkey sausage last nite. I added a lb of ground turkey, 2 T. coconut oil, some sage, salt anad pepper. Made about 9 patties and the coconut oil made them so good. And is so good for you. They crisp up on the edge real nice. I have been reading up on coconut oil and it is very benefit to our bodies. I bought the extra virgin Emerald brand. I will add a T. to my hamburger soup at lunch. it is recomended 3 T. a day. I am going to be a fat little pig or a skinny grannie. I hope a skinnie grannie like Barbiecat.

Do any of you know anything about coconut oil.?

    Hi All,
Took Daisy to the vet for her rabies shot and another one, she still has two more to go in another month.:noway: He did say I can take her to the groomer now, which I have been patiently waiting to do.
Will give her a few days to let the meds do their work and then make the appointment.

Birdie, I also over indulged in a few glasses of wine last night. :blushing: We had the Octoberfest in September and although I had dinner at home I had some wine while my son ate dinner. We waited patiently for a band that was going to play only to find out I did not like the kind of music they did. So today my head is a little foggy and water is on the menu. :glasses:

Marie, you are so good and always trying new things. I do not not anything about coconut oil, but I do like coconut shrimp which I haven't eaten since dieting.

Barbie, I walked 5600 steps last night since we walked to the Octoberfest . Not bad for my first day with the new pedometer. My goal is to reach 10,000 a day but I don't think that is happening today. :ohwell:

Going to take a little nap before Church, will talk with you later.

Just a quick note to say hi to everyone. Was a lazy Saturday other than taking Daisy to the Vet. Went to 5:00 Mass and ate dinner with my husband and son. Have been playing games on facebook and not much of anything else.

Not a good exercise or food day, tomorrow will be better.

    Good night

Good Evening to all,:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Jake left at noon today for a three day business trip.   The first few hours were heavenly. I watched something on TV that I liked and nobody told me to sit down and stop making so much noise. Now that the novelty has worn off, I'm ready for him to come home.

I went to a meeting today where a meal was served and I brought my own food (four ounces of cold chicken, two cups of steamed, chilled green beans, and a tomato and cucumber salad). I'm glad I did because the served meal was processed deli meat and cheese with bread ,etc, for making sandwiches, pasta salad, potato salad, chips, and a dozen different desserts.

:flowerforyou: Marie, olive oil is the only oil I use. I'll be interested in learning more about coconut oil. I'm looking forward to the arrival of your new pedometer.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I read something awhile ago that said that people who use pedometers walk more steps than people who don't (I can't quite figure out how they got the statistics) but I know that when I know how many steps I've walked in a day I seem to try harder to walk more to increase the number. Good luck on that new journey.

We have beautiful weather here and I was able to take a 45 minute walk after supper and after walking the dogs. I took the dogs to the dog park earlier and they got warm pretty quickly and lay down in the shade.

The dogs don't know yet that they are going to get to sleep with me tonight since Jake is gone. It's time for water and a little snack and off to bed.

    hugs to all,
