Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was STS Disc 9/Legs, Pilates and a Low Impact spin. It is sunny and a little warmer today so I managed to take my tired legs for a walk after as well. It felt good once my legs stopped shaking.
Thelma, great workouts. Sounds like you are all organized and prepared for your surgery. Hopefully that will put your mind to ease a bit going into it. I love the name Pompy for a grandmother! That’s too cute.
Laurie, great workout. I am glad you listened to your body yesterday and skipped the workout altogether. Butts and Guts is good but it really is endless reps with lots of low ends and stuff like that. I really have to be in the mood for kind of workout anymore to convince myself to do one. Most days I prefer a set number of reps and then moving on.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts today were Yin Yoga and walking. My day got totally derailed when I found out my surgery got bumped up to 11:30 on Thursday. All of a sudden, the things I was going to do Thursday morning had to be done. My stress level went through the roof.
We are glad my surgery will be in the morning. The sooner we can get it over with, the sooner we can be home. The fact that I'm keeping myself busy is definitely helping with not thinking about the surgery.
We had a beautiful, warm and sunny day here. I just read that we're expecting a lot of rain and thunderstorms on Thursday.
Laurie, what a fun workout! Great job!
These days I'm logging between 10 and 12 thousand steps. 3-4 mls.
The only type of PM workout I've ever tried was a yoga one. I don't think it did anything for me! LOL
I did start a tradition with my grandmother's nickname!
Laurel, great workouts! It was definitely a good walking day!
I am trying to organize myself. The fact that I'll be out of commission for at least two weeks is driving me insane. No workouts, no house cleaning!
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Had to leave work early yesterday because we had an electrical outage. WE Energies lost a transformer, and there where about 6000 customers that where without power. So I worked from home, and that wasn't to bad. My workout this morning was KCM's RAW Stepboxing Drills. This one is a newer workout, so I hadn't tried it before. What a great workout! The step is high, but no jumping. All the moves are just stepping onto the step to get your hr up. Winner workout.
Laurel, Awesome workouts! Glad that you where able to get in a walk for recovery of the shaky legs. Oh yes those lovely low ends! I don't mind them, but we just don't need to do them over and over...
Thelma, Great job with those workouts! I know that you will be so ready for this recovery time, but going through the before process can be stressful. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. To tell the truth, I don't think that I really want to do PM yoga. I just like to read before hand, so that is my way of relaxing. Great job with all those steps!
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was STS Disc 8/Back and Triceps, STS Medicine Ball Abs, and Cathe Live Merry HiiT-Mas Express. The latter workout was filmed the week before Christmas and, obviously, post-Cathe shoulder injury. But despite that, it was a nice, moderately intense and short workout. I will be revisiting it no doubt. My legs were screaming at me this morning, so I ended it all with yoga focused on the hamstrings. Good stuff.
Thelma, great workouts, especially given the update on your surgery. But, as you said, the earlier you go in, the earlier you get home. I am actually glad you have an earlier appointment time given the weather forecast. I think the brunt of the storm will be over us when you are in surgery, so you should make it home before it gets to you. That would be good. I will be thinking about you tomorrow. And looking forward to an update. Huge hugs!
Laurie, that sounds like a fantastic workout. Another no impact way of raising the heart rate. Good stuff. I am sorry about the power loss. Hopefully everything is back to normal now. I don’t mind low-ends either, but countless reps…..not my favorite anymore.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Ladies, it was another busy and stressful day here. I managed to get most of the things I wanted to do before surgery except for some cooking.
On top of my pre-surgery deep cleaning, I've been dealing with prescription issues and today I nearly lost it. I decided to go outside and spend some time with my chickens. It was warm so the girls ventured out to our steep driveway. It was great because I kept walking up and down the driveway. It was good to walk off the stress. My house is clean, and it feels good.
I can't tell you how much laundry I've done since the weekend. It's insane! I washed the pets' blankies, towels, sheets, kitchen towels, bathroom cleaning rags, microfiber dusting clothes, our clothes. All that today! Seven loads! No wonder I clocked over 12,000 steps today. I got a workout going up and down the stairs. In the middle of all that we got our new sofa delivered and in the late afternoon someone from the Humane Society came to pick up our old sofa. We had ordered a love seat too but that wasn't delivered to the store. We got leather recliners.
My workout today was my power walk. I wanted to lift weights, but I needed to finish cleaning the house. I've been so busy that I've not had a chance to even think about the surgery.
I had to shower with antibacterial dial soap, then an hour later we had to use 6 special wipes all over my body. The wipes create a protective antibacterial barrier on the skin. It was really sticky.
We got plenty of food, DH has been trained to give the fur babies their snacks.
Thankfully I'm as calm as can be.
Thank you both for thinking of me. I hope the pain meds help me manage whatever pain there is.
Laurie, great workout. I hope power was restored to that area.
Pre-bedtime workouts don't sound appealing to me.
Laurel, great job with your STS rotation! Great workout combo too!
I am worried about the rain tomorrow too. According AccuWeather there will be thunderstorms between 12 and 5 PM tomorrow. The rain moves in after 8PM.
Thanks so much for thinking of me and the hugs!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was KCM's RAW Box & Butt. I think the title explains it all. Still loving all the boxing.
Laurel, Love the sound of all those workout, and of course doing a med ball abs. That is one ab workout that I really enjoy, and should probably pull out. Wonder if DH would do the partner abs with me one day. Hmmm I will have to ask him about that. Yesterday I was surprised at how hungry I was, so I'm thinking that it had something to do with the workout. Normally I'm not that way. We are back to normal at work, we did encounter some power up issues with some of our older equipment. Something always seems to happen to some equipment when we have an issue like this.
Thelma, You where the energizer bunny yesterday. Very interesting on the prep work for the surgery, I'm sure that they don't want to have any infections to deal with. Take care, and let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 60 minute spin and 45 minutes of Pilates. We had some pretty dicey weather early on this morning with a tornado warning, strong winds, lightening and heavy rain…..and this all before I finished my morning coffee. So the workout felt good after all of that. Looks like there was some damage from the storm west of here, but I think Huntsville itself escaped the worst of it. Now the temperature will drop and they are talking about some snow tomorrow.
Thelma, I am thinking about you! I hope you make it home without any issues from the weather.
Laurie, great workout. All of your workouts sound great because of all of the boxing. I did the Med Ball Ab workout with DH once, which wasn’t great since we are such different heights. But what I remember most was during one move where you are tossing the ball back and forth one of stopped before the other and the ball went flying! Thankfully we were in my workout room so there was nothing to break. But both of us were laughing so hard it was difficult to continue. Hopefully things go a little smoother for you if you ever do that with your DH. I was starving through the first few weeks of this STS rotation which, like you, isn’t quite like me. But that has settled down now. Glad your power is back.
See you tomorrow.

Laurie, just wanted to let you know I heard from Thelma’s husband, and her surgery went well. See you tomorrow.0

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was KCM RAW Cardio Core Fusion. Have to love anything that combines boxing with core work. Tomorrow I'm going to be babysitting for our grandson, so I'm really excited. Can't believe that I'm so into this G'ma thing. The only other thing I have going this weekend is lots of sewing.
Laurel, Thanks for letting me know about Thelma, I probably would have been wondering how she faired through the whole weekend. Awesome job on your workouts. That is some scary weather, but glad to hear that your area didn't have any damage. We ended up with a dusting of snow, so it got a lot colder around here. DH and I are pretty close in height, so if and when we try that workout, I will let you know how we handled it. I think I may have to preview it, because I've never had anyone interested in working out before. DH has been working out at least 3-4 days a week. He has done this for almost three weeks, and I'm not saying anything.
Thelma, Thinking of you, and I know that you will take really good care of yourself.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a Cathe Live trifecta…Vertical Loading 2, Slam-HiiT and Core Strength Express. The latter was her Live workout from yesterday and at just under 20 minutes a great core-focused workout. I am sorry Cathe injured her shoulder, but it did lead to her filming some great short workouts.
Laurie, great workout. I love boxing and core combos. So good. I hope you have a fantastic time with your grandson. Sounds like a perfect weekend of grandmothering and sewing. It started snowing right after I got up this morning. It didn’t last but I can honestly say I really don’t like the weather pattern that goes from fierce storms with tornadoes into snow. No fun. Yay for your DH working out!! That is good news. My DH is really good at getting his steps in, and that is good enough for me. Like you, I don’t really say much either.
So the latest update on Thelma. She wrote me last night and let me know they were keeping her over night because she had developed a hematoma. They did a CAT scan, and that showed it was very small. But last I heard from her, they hadn’t ruled out another surgery. But she said aside from that, she felt great and even managed a trip up and down the hallway post-surgery. So fingers crossed the next message I get from her has her home and recuperating.
Enjoy the weekend.

Update on Thelma…..she is going home!0

Hi Ladies! I'm baaack! I wish I could say I'm back working out but all in due time. I really feel like I could work out. I felt like I could workout after the surgery once I was fully awake. I actually walked up and down the long hospital hallway.
The hematoma is still there. It was painful and I couldn't really take a deep breath because it hurt. I was given an elastic belly band for it, and it's irritated my skin so I'm going to call the doctor's office to see if anyone can see me to check my incisions and skin. Thankfully the hematoma hardly hurts anymore, but I still have to be careful when taking deep breaths. If it weren't for the hematoma and the small incisions, I wouldn't believe that I'd had surgery.
I really feel great. I am not on pain meds at all! At the hospital they gave me a strong dose of tylenol Thursday and Friday, but I don't even think I needed that. The two pain meds prescribed haven't been used. I didn't believe the doctor when she told me that most women don't take pain meds after this type of surgery. Amazing!
I found out that the hospital is in the top 5% of gynecological robotic surgery facilities in the country. They are in the top 10% of robotic surgery facilities in the country. It's a pretty fancy hospital! The food was very good. It's a very well-facility. The nurses were awesome. Even the cleaning lady was awesome. Everybody who walks into your room identifies themselves and treat the patient nicely. They even have a board on the wall where everybody's extensions are listed in case the patient needs anything.
DH thought I might not want to come home since they were treating me so well in the hospital! LOL. I actually would've been OK staying there one more night. I was on the 8th floor and even had beautiful view. The room was huge!
The doctor wants me walking. I'm doing a lot of laps around the house. I feel that I can start doing Jessica Smith short beginners' videos.
Have a wonderful week!

Morning Ladies,
What a great weekend! I had a awesome time taking care of the grandson, he was really good. Of course he is only 3 weeks old, but he can get the crank going when he wants to. He does have a mad face that makes him look like a little old man. So cute. Found out my oldest niece is going to have a girl, so I need to get started on a quilt for her. Was able to get a lot of sewing done, so tonight I need to go get groceries.
My Saturday workout was Kristin McGee's Power Yoga, and Sunday was my day off.
Laurel, Great job with those workout, got to love anything that is trifecta! It is nice that she is putting out some shorter workouts, just to bad that Cathe is injured. Thanks for giving me updates on Thelma too. We are now having drizzle, so this winter has been not as much snow as they indicated. Now up north they are having way to much.
Thelma, So glad to hear that you got through the surgery so well. Glad to hear that you are feeling like you can do a workout. Ouch on the hematoma, but very glad to hear that it is clearing up a bit. Take care!
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was nice. The weather was chilly on Saturday, but has been warming up since. Despite the cold, we were able to get in some really nice walks each day. And today was the best walk, because it was done on a golf course. It felt really good to be out there playing again. DH had the day off for MLK day, so it was a good way to spend a holiday.
For workouts, on Saturday I did a Jessica walk and 60 minutes of yoga. Yesterday was a 45 minute spin and Cathe’s Lean Legs and Abs. Today was STS Disc 19/Chest, Shoulders and Triceps followed by the cardio only in XTrain Hard Strikes.
Thelma, welcome back!! I am so happy to hear you are feeling well. The hospital you were in sounds amazing! I am really happy they took such good care of you. I can’t believe you haven’t had any pain medication. That is stunning. Hopefully the hematoma gets better quickly.
Laurie, great workouts! Got to love some good power yoga. I am so glad you enjoyed your time with your grandson. Babies are just so precious at that age, even with the cranks. Yay on news of a baby grandniece. No doubt your niece will appreciate a quilt. I don’t know if you heard that Cathe had rotator cuff surgery over the holidays. She will be out for a good while but filmed seven weeks of express Live workouts before her surgery. When she returns she will be teaching her workouts without actually doing them. That will be interesting. I find she loses count a lot when she does that.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I was able to see one my doctor's nurse practitioners. I just wanted to make sure my incisions were not infected. I didn't think they were but wanted a professional to check them. The incisions are not infected just irritated. I have to use a little bit of hydrocortisone cream and take benadryl for 3 nights. I'm not crazy about having to take benadryl.
The 25 minute trip to the clinic was exhausting! I was pacing the examining room while I waited, and during the examination I started to feel exhausted. The nurse said that I'd had a lot of activity today for someone a few days post-op. You would think I'd walked to the clinic!
I thought my insides hurt when I took a deep breath because of the hematoma, but the nurse told me that is normal at this stage after surgery.
The nurse told me to wait on the workouts, so I will keep doing laps around the house for now.
Just in case you didn't see Cathe's update on STS 2.0 here it is:
As we mentioned last week, we're now in the final phase of editing called "DVD Authoring". This phase is where we will make our final decisions on the chapters for each workout and start to create the premixes.
This week, we will also start working on tweaking the audio and music for each workout. Once this is completed we will be able to start working on the first STS 2.0 video clips which is what most of you are probably looking forward to.
Though we will not have a lot of new information to share this week, things should really start to pick up next week as we will be able to begin to share the premix information and workout times.
Laurie, I'm so glad you had such a great time with your grandson! I'm sure he looks adorable when he gets mad! How exciting about your niece's baby girl! I'm sure you'll make her a beautiful quilt!
Great job with the power yoga workout!
Laurel, I'm glad you had a nice weekend and that you were able to play golf!
Great workouts!
I am very thankful that I was in such capable hands during and after my surgery. I think the hematoma will take some time to be absorbed by my body. At least it isn't painful anymore.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Guess I forgot to mention my workout yesterday! I did RAW Box & Pump 5, this one was a bit longer at just over 50 min. Had to make sure that I got up and moving earlier than I usually do. This morning was RAW Box & Bell. Really enjoy these different workouts that use the boxing, but a different method. I can say that I truly enjoy boxing and kettlebells. So fun.
Laurel, Awesome job with all your workouts! I had to reread the Hard Strikes. At first I though that you had done the whole workout, but you indicated just the cardio. I have not been keeping up on the Cathe news. I remember he saying that she was having some issues with her rotator cuff. I'm sure that she is glad that the STS 2.0 filming was done before she had to go in for surgery. LOL about the counting. Does she do to many or to little? I'm going to guess she does to many.
Thelma, So glad to hear that you are doing good, and you don't have an infection. Probably hard for you to resist the workouts. Thank you for the update, sounds like I have to wait a couple of weeks to start seeing all the information. I'm so happy that there will be premixes in this series. The price was great since it includes that.
Have a great day!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was STS Disc 20/Legs, a fun spin and yoga.
Thelma, good news that you don’t have an infection, but it sure sounds like your body was telling you while you were at the clinic to take it easy for a bit. I don’t blame you for wanting to avoid Benadryl. That drug knocks me flat for sure, but if you are only taking it at night, maybe it won’t be too bad. Thank you, as always, for the Cathe update. Since I am no longer on Facebook, I never see these updates unless I go to her site, which I don’t do very often. I am really looking forward to more information on this series. I am glad you talked to the NP about working out. No doubt you are ready to get back mentally, but your body probably needs a little more time.
Laurie, great workouts. It really sounds like she has developed a lot of workouts with the boxing/strength theme. They all sound so good! Yes, when Cathe wanders away from doing workouts to chat for awhile, she always forgets the count and adds on. She also isn’t great at judging how much time it takes to recover between moves when she isn’t doing them. Luckily she has people in the class who will clue her in on the counts at times, especially when she is way over. So….we’ll see how it goes. I just appreciate that she is trying to continue to provide Live content during this time. No, there was NO way I could have done the metabolic work in Hard Strikes yesterday after that STS workout. You must have been like ‘what is she thinking? ‘ for a minute.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I was bad on Tuesday and did a beginner's walking workout. It wasn't a good idea. The hematoma is a little sore and I was exhausted. I won't do that again. Maybe I'll just walk slowly on the treadmill. It felt so good to workout. I woke up full of energy and all my body wanted to do was move.
The skin irritation and itchiness are gone. Thank God!
We got more rain from Tuesday night into mid-Wednesday morning. I don't think it was the usual heavy rains we get but it sure was steady rain.
Laurie, great workout! Those boxing workouts are so much fun! Great job!
It really is hard not to be able to workout.
It does sound like it will be a couple of weeks before we start seeing more STS 2.0 updates. I am really happy about the premixes too. It would be so nice if the STS 1.0 had them too.
Laurel, great workouts! Did you start with STS from disc 1? I can't remember. At the rate we're going with STS 2.0 you should be able to complete the entire program!
The Benadryl didn't make me sleepy. I actually wondered if I'd bought the wrong kind. I just checked online and they only have allergy meds. At least the itchiness is gone!
You're welcome on Cathe's update. It was actually from her e-letter.
My body sure told me it wasn't ready for a gentle workout yet.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout RAW Heavy Bag / Shadowbox. I used by 1.5# egg weights, and did the shadowbox.
Laurel, Love the workouts! I'm sure the spin and yoga helped with the legs afterwards. I didn't realize how many workouts Kelly has that includes boxing. I'm looking to continue this rotation, and start using her DVD's that have the same flare. The workouts are starting to stack up on my shelf. I'm taking a few moments each morning to find the ones that I know about. Of course they all include premixes that I have not tried yet too. Nice that she has people in the class that will let her know she needs to pay attention and stop torturing the class.
Thelma, I'm sure it will take a while for the hematoma to fade. Walking on the treadmill will probably be the best, and then you can judge if you can do more. Glad to hear that the irritation is gone. We are suppose to be getting some winter mix tonight, so we will see how well they are with their predictions.
Have a great day!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was STS Disc 21/Back and Biceps, Cathe Live Cardio Challenge Express and 30 minutes of Pilates. My legs are screaming at me today from yesterday’s workout. I must have done something right I suppose but…..yowza. I think this is the worst DOMS I have had since starting STS.
Thelma, I am glad you are listening to your body and that it isn’t quite ready for workouts yet. Walking on the treadmill is probably a great option because you probably use your core less in that than in some indoor walks that involve a lot of side to side motion. I haven’t taken Benadryl for over a decade, so maybe they have changed their formula. The last time I took it, it was for a case of hives and I was also on steroids. The doctor just laughed when prescribing it and said ‘you will be a very sleepy crazy person for awhile’…..and she was so right. I never want that formula again! The format I am using for STS this time is all the week one workouts (so Meso 1 Week 1 was the first week, Meso 2 Week 1 was the second week, etc). So since this was my last Meso 2 Week 3 workout, I have four weeks left—Meso 3 Week 3 and then all of the Week 4 workouts. I have absolutely loved this format. I think if I had tried doing Meso 1 straight through for four weeks, I wouldn’t have gotten past week 1.
Laurie, great workout. So are you noticing a difference in your core strength from all of this boxing? I love how boxing works the core, especially the sides of the waist. It sounds like you can go on with this rotation for quite awhile! How fun to have so many options for a type of workout you enjoy. I hope your weather doesn’t get too bad. We are in for storms tonight but they shouldn’t be as bad as last week. I hope.
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, I am counting steps again. I did 4K on Tuesday and 5K on Wednesday. I hope to be able to add at least 1K steps a day.
I'm able to slowly go up/downstairs, so I am doing laundry again. DH carries the laundry basket for me. I'm going to start cooking a little bit too.
Laurie, sounds like another fun workout! Good job!
I think the hematoma feels less hard now. Thursday will be a week since my surgery!
I hope the wintry mix won't cause a bad commute on Thursday morning.
When does your DD go back to work and who will take care of the baby?
Laurel, great job with your workouts! You definitely did something right with the leg workout! Hopefully the DOMS will go away soon.
I never even thought that the side-to-side movement would work my abs more! I didn't get on the treadmill today but need to start doing it.
I don't know if the Benadryl formula has changed but it's just an antihistamine.
Doing only the first week of the STS workouts is definitely doable! Great idea!
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
No wintery mix for us, just rain/drizzle. I'm okay with that, but they are getting hit up north. This morning's workout was RAW Heavy Bag / Shadowbox. This one is Kelly doing the shadowboxing and her son doing the heavy bag. I used my 2# egg weights.
Laurel, Great job with the workouts! Wow on the DOMS, you must have really done something right or have hit some muscles in a different way. The things that I have noticed since doing boxing everyday. My shoulder area and biceps are becoming more defined. I also am noticing the ab area, the shrinking progresses downward. So I still am working on that pooch. I had been getting kind somewhat of a muffing top, and that is going away also. So glad about that. When we get the STS 2.0 workouts, I'm probably going to continue with the boxing in some form. Thinking of investing in a standing bag.
Thelma, Great job with the walking, and of course advancing as your body will let you. Nice that you are able to get up and down the steps. DD has a baby sitter lined up, and she has a total of 12 weeks. I'm sure that will go really fast. She sent a video yesterday of gs in his swing. Apparently he has been cranky at night, and this was the first time he wasn't fussy.
Have a great day!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! I am definitely still feeling the DOMS in my quads today. So before I started my workout, I did a gentle five minute spin to gauge whether a spin was even feasible or whether I should go with a Jessica walk. My legs felt better after that five minutes, so I ended up doing a pretty easy 60 minute spin and some yoga. I think that combo may help out so tomorrow I don’t scream when I get out of bed. If I had never had this kind of reaction to an STS leg routine before, I might be more surprised. But I have. A lot.
Thelma, glad to hear you are recovering so nicely. Do you have a follow-up appointment so they can see how you are healing? We had quite a storm last night, but it was mostly high wind. Hope you didn’t have any problems.
Laurie, great workout. Sounds like you are getting some great results from all of the boxing. I would love to see some improvement in my shoulder and bicep area. It just seems like my arms aren’t aging very well. I, too, have developed a nice little pooch. I was trying to ignore it until I saw some photos of myself from our trip. So since DH is on a diet, I am trying to clean up my eating to see if that helps. I keep thinking about a boxing bag as well. I need to do something about the flooring in my workout room, and maybe after we figure that out, I will feel better about putting something like that in there. I think it would get a lot of use.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I am so excited to report that I had my best day yet today, a week after my surgery!
I got over 10K steps in! I jumped on the treadmill as my first walking session and even though I was going very slow, it felt hard on my legs. I only did 15 minutes on the treadmill. I resumed my chicken caregiver duties and consequently walking outside too. I got two walking sessions outside and one after dinner inside the house. I feel great. I am going to stick with my walking sessions for now because that is all I can do. My energy level is improving every day too. Tuesday was the last day I took a nap in the afternoon.
We had a beautiful day. It was warm but very windy. The wind picked up in the late afternoon and will continue through the night. It's howling!
I also cooked my first post-surgery meal today. It was a day full of progress. I am bending down and squatting a lot better. I'm not able to touch my toes yet, but I am pretty close. I can't get down on the floor just yet either. If it weren't for the hematoma, I could do all those things by now. I am extremely happy with my progress.
Laurie, I'm glad you didn't get the wintry mix! Another fun workout! Great job!
I am glad your DD has a babysitter lined up or the baby! Those baby swings are great!
Laurel, you did a good job with that leg workout. I can't believe you're still feeling those DOMS! Sounds like you need a massage. Do you have one those foam rollers? Great workouts!
I have my 2-week follow up on the 26th with the doctor's nurse practitioner, and my 6-week follow up with the doctor on 2/20.
We are getting those strong winds here too. Thankfully we haven't had any problems. The wind is howling like crazy tonight.
I've been following a plant-based blogger on FB because I'd like to incorporate more stuff like that in my diet. The meals look so yummy. DH went to the supermarket today and I asked him to get me some quinoa and some fresh ingredients because I want to make a quinoa salad. When he got back and was putting the groceries away and he said, "here is your quiona". OMG I still can't laugh too hard, so I had to hold my stomach because I thought it was the funniest thing.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thelma0 -
Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Box & Pump 7, really enjoyed this one. I like when she incorporates the olymipic lifting.
Laurel, Great job with feeling out what workout would be good for those poor legs. Hopefully we will have those same type of DOMS with STS 2.0. I was seeing that same thing with my arms. I started this rotation because I wanted to see something happen, and I also really enjoy boxing. One of my concerns was overdoing the upper body, but so far I have been okay. I have done some research on bags. I know that I don't want to attach it to the beams of our house, so that means a stand or the ones with the sand/water on the bottom. I'm liking the stand with heavy bag, for what I'm doing it will be perfect.
Thelma, Great job with all the walking. I'm sure that the chickens enjoyed having their caregiver back. LOL about your DH. I would have laughed too, but for you that can be tricky. We had a quinoa salad when we where on the plane going to England. DH actually said is was good. To bad they didn't have the recipe attached.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a surprisingly good one…and not at all what I had planned for today until I hit my workout room. I started with Cathe’s Power Hour, and I did keep it light on the legs because they were still sore this morning. But the workout seems to have really helped that. I normally don’t care much for this workout, but it just flew by today. I followed it with LITE Rev’d Up Rumble (using my egg weights), the Calorie Crush, Abs and Extended Stretch. It felt great.
Thelma, yay for the good day. That’s a lot of steps for one week post-op!! You are healing amazingly well. I bet it felt good to be back outside with your chickens again. I, too, would have laughed about the quiona. In the summer time, one of our favorite meals is a quinoa salad. It has a base of quinoa, then on top are a combo of grilled veggies and raw veggies, covered in a little olive oil, salt and pepper, grilled salmon, feta cheese, a sprinkle of lemon juice and some tzatziki sauce. So good! I am not a huge fan of quinoa, but I could eat that every day. Our wind here yesterday was worse than it was the day before. I had to drive to the airport for my Global Entry interview, and my little Outback was being blown everywhere on the way up. That doesn’t usually happen in my car! But today is calm and beautiful.
Laurie, another great workout. You inspired me to use my egg weights today with the kickboxing workout. I have shied away from using them too much during this STS rotation because, like you, I am a bit concerned with over using my upper body. But for this workout today, they were perfect. So thank you! And thank you for the recommendation for looking at a bag on a stand. I only ever think about the kind with sand/water or hanging bags, and neither appeals which is why I don’t have one. You’ve given me a great idea.
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was good. I am doing well and today I was able to get down on the floor. I'm also able to laugh, cough and sneeze without having to brace myself.
My workouts have been walking outside, around the house and on the treadmill. I did a little over 15K steps on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday I did over 16K steps.
Laurie, great job with the boxing workouts!
If you're interested in quinoa salad recipes search the skinnytaste.com website. Gina has a bunch or recipes.
Laurel, great workouts! I hope your legs feel better.
I really am healing amazingly well. The incision site where the hematoma is, still hurts a little when twisting to that side. My two week follow up is on Thursday.
The chickens are glad to have me back because I let them be outside longer than DH could.
Your quinoa salad sounds delicious!
Wow you did have strong winds. We had rain Saturday and Sunday night. I'm sick of the rain!
Have a great week!

Morning Ladies,
Well the cold weather has finally caught up with us. It was in the high teens this morning for our walk. We had a nice, but busy weekend. Had some people over for a small party, and that one was pot luck so I didn't need to do a lot of cooking. On Sunday I was sewing, and DH was taking all the deco down. Tomorrow is DH's cousins funeral, so I may or may not be online.
My workouts where Saturday Jessica's Core Strength & Stretch from her Fusion Flow + Glow DVD. Sunday was no workout, and this morning was 30MTF Power Splits W1.
Laurel, Very nice workouts for your Friday! Have not done the Power Hour workout in a very very long time. Glad that I could inspire you to use your egg weights, and look into the stand and bag. Now that we have gotten rid of the old treadmill, I have the room for the stand. I can set it up without having to move it. I may have more room now that DH is starting to look at all these boxes on a shelving unit that we have in my workout space. He started to notice the items on the shelving unit while doing his workout. I guess that means that I have to get rid of the few VHS tapes that I have on there.
Thelma, Love that you are getting better and better every day. How nice that you don't need to brace yourself when you want to laugh. I'm sure that your DH is a lot like mine, and he makes you laugh to much sometimes. I don't even thing that they realize what makes us think they are funny, because my daughters never think their dad is funny. I always think he is. Great job with the walking! You are getting in some high step counts. I will be looking at the skinnytaste site, she has some great recipes on there.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was good. It was a nice blend of chores, errands and some long walks so it was both productive and relaxing.
For workouts, on Saturday I did Jessica’s Build Balance and Inner Strength Core Control workout and yoga. Yesterday was STS Disc 31/Chest and Back and a spin. Today was STS Disc 32/Plyo Legs, the cardio and core from Fit/Split Boxing Bootcamp and some yoga. My legs finally started feeling better on Saturday which made me happy.
Thelma, so happy to hear you are continuing to heal nicely and quickly. Great job with the step counts. That’s a lot of steps for somebody who didn’t have surgery a week earlier!! I must admit I am a little tired of the rain and storms that keep passing through. But I also am happy it isn’t as dry as last winter. That concerned me. But I could really do without the weekly threat of high winds and tornadoes right about now.
Laurie, great workouts. No doubt tomorrow will be tough with your the funeral of your DH’s cousin. I will be thinking about you. I have been mentally rearranging my workout room the last few days in order to accommodate a bag, and I think I can do it without too many problems. I haven’t mentioned it to DH yet, though. But he has known I want one for years, so it won’t come as a surprise if I finally opt to get one. Sorry to hear the cold temperatures caught up with you. That makes for a long January.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I tried a beginner's low impact cardio workout yet and I'm not quite ready for that yet. I was able to walk a few times and I got 16K steps.
I made 1.5 cups of quinoa and it made a LOT! The Skinnytaste website had a recipe on how to make it in the instant pot. It was easy and just right. I ended up making two recipes. One is a quinoa avocado salad and the other one is a southwestern one with corn and black beans. Both recipes have red onions, cilantro, jalapeno and lime juice. I am going to have quinoa salads for dinner the entire week. Hopefully I won't OD on it. It is very feeling. I couldn't believe that the avocado salad recipe said that it yields 2 full meals or 4 side salad. Next time I will only make one cup. I was a busy bee in the kitchen! I made meaty food for DH because there's no way he'd have quinoa salads.
Laurie, great workouts! Sounds like a great weekend!
I'm sure the funeral will be a difficult time for your DH's family.
DH makes me laugh and I've had to ask him to not make me laugh, but sometimes it just happens! LOL
Laurel, I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Great workouts! I'm glad your legs are finally feeling better.
I am thankful about my recovery progress and the high step counts. I'm getting about 4 walking sessions a day.
It was cold on Monday and Tuesday night the temps will drop into the low 20's! We brought the chickens inside. The winds are certainly scary.
See you tomorrow!
