Hi Ladies! My workouts on Wednesday were walking and a great triceps, shoulders, chest, core and mobility workout at PT.

Today was an emotional day to say the least. We left the house at 10:45 for Athens, GA. We got there at 1PM. We waited for a little while and my cat's doctor came to the waiting area to get us so we could go be with Charmy. As the doctor was opening the door to the ICU she told us Charmy was doing better! Up until 11:30 am there was no change in her breathing, but a miracle happened one hour before we got there! The nurses noticed Charmy's breathing wasn't labored and immediately called the doctor and the student assigned to her. The doctor told us, guys, I don't think this is the time to let her go yet. We of course, couldn't have agreed more. She looked really good. We spent 45 minutes with her outside of the oxygen kennel. It was so amazing in many ways. The staff had been loving and feeding her all kinds of goodies all night long because she was going to be euthanized. When we got there and they saw us they were all smiles.
Charmy was weaned off the oxygen kennel throughout the afternoon and as of 5:30PM she was almost at room oxygen level in the kennel. They were hopefully going to transfer her to a normal kennel tonight. I cried tears of joy during the visit. It was so special to see how much the nursing staff and doctors cared about us and our kitty. I hope the news are still good in the morning. They also switched Charmy from IV to oral meds because she is eating well and also to make sure she responds well to oral meds.

The student assigned to Charmy is from MA and lived in the town next to where we used to live.
The young doctor is from Peru. She heard me say something in Spanish to Charmy and asked me where I was from. Small world.

    Sorry for the long post.

Laurel, great workouts! Congratulations on finishing the rotation and for going as heavy as possible!
It's amazing but we think that phone call to our cat made a difference in her healing. The doctor said she was going to have to use that with her patients and their owners.

Laurie, great workouts! I can't wait to hear about your bedtime yoga experience!
I am not looking forward to the humidity at all! Good job cleaning the house and getting rid of things you no longer need. It is crazy how much stuff accumulates.
Thank you for your prayers. I know DH was very emotional at the hospital because his face was very red. Charmy adores him, and she was all over him. He kept petting her and lifting her up to bring her belly to his ear trying to hear for labored breathing and couldn't hear anything.

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 45 minute spin and Peloton core and yoga.

Thelma, that is the best news about your kitty!!! I hope she continues to heal. I definitely believe that she just needed to hear your voices to get better. I am so happy she is being well taken care of and you were able to spend a good deal of time with her. That drive home must have been so much better than the drive there….or the drive you expected it to be. I bet you were exhausted. Again, I hope all of the news going forward is as good. Great workouts!

Laurie, great workouts. Like Thelma, I am really interested to hear how you enjoy bedtime yoga. Please keep us posted. I hear you on how things accumulate so quickly. I spent all of last year getting rid of stuff and not buying anything unless it was to replace something, and in the first six months of this year, I feel like we have taken huge steps backwards. But it is just too hot to do anything in the attic now, so it will have to wait until winter. We have had rain all morning here this morning, which is pretty unusual this time of year. Our dew point has been pretty consistently between 65 and 75 degrees for several weeks now. Again, we are just lucky it hasn’t gotten hot yet or else it would be miserable. But we are headed into the 90s this weekend, so we’ll see just how miserable that is.

    See you tomorrow.

    Hello Ladies,

Last nights yoga was actually very relaxing. I think that I went to bed easier than I usually do. I probably should have done the session upstairs by the bed. Oh well, it was a nice relaxing meditation before bed. This morning I did a wake up yoga session that was all mobility work. DH and I did PJ's Upper Body workout. It was a tri-set, and focused on Triceps, Biceps and Shoulders.

Today is Dad's birthday, it is hitting me a little hard.

Thelma, Such great news! Sounds like you have a wonderful Vet, and supporting staff. Like Laurel said, that ride home had to be so much better than the ride there. I hope everything keeps improving for Charmy. Great job with the workouts! Don't know that I would want to do anything very energetic with yoga before bed, but the meditation and slight stretching that she did include was very relaxing. May try that again. I have not looked at the schedule, but she may throw another one in at some point. I'm just following Adriene's June schedule.

Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts. We are also going to be getting those 90 deg temps this weekend. I can't even imagine trying to get into an attic with the temps that you have. Around here the accumulation space is the basement. Don't know when we will be tackling this area, but it will have to be done at some point. I for sure will be doing another evening yoga routine. Such a great way to relax.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today didn't go as planned and I only got a little walking and a short low impact Hiit workout in.
Charmy got discharged from the hospital and we made the two hour drive each way to Athens, GA to pick our baby up.
It's good to have her home. She needs three meds twice a day for at least the next 8 days. I have to make sure she eats because they all say to take with food. She is going to be a high maintenance kitty for the next two weeks. I have to give her steam treatments three times a day and count her breaths per minute a couple of times a day while she is at rest and asleep. In two weeks, I have to send a status email to UGA letting them know how she's doing and sending a report of her breaths per minute during these two weeks. Counting the breaths is the easy part.

You're both right about our drive home on Wednesday being much different than the drive there. We were in shock, I think. We couldn't stop saying OMG, I can't believe it, or can you believe it. I was a very surreal and happy feeling.

I don't know if it rained here while we were gone, but it rained like crazy on the way to Athens. The heat will start on Friday with temps in the mid to high 80's, no rain and lots of sun. We'll have a couple of days in the low 90s next week.

    Laurel, great workouts!
We definitely were exhausted after the long drive and emotional visit. Thank you for those good wishes for my Charmy's recovery.

Laurie, great workouts! I'm glad the bedtime yoga was relaxing and enjoyable. A lot of instructors have bedtime yoga workouts.
Our vet and nursing staff were just amazing.

I'm sorry your dad's birthday hit you hard. It is understandable that it would hit you hard. Sending you a big virtual hug.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was LMR Functional Barre Fusion and 10 minutes of hip-focused yoga. I also just got in from mowing the lawn. Thankfully I got out there before the sun came out (it was a foggy morning) but even without the sun the humidity was so high I am drenched. And the lawn mower definitely was not enjoying the moisture. We had quite the battle, and I am still not sure who won. But at least the grass is shorter.

Laurie, great workouts. I was wondering if your night yoga was going to be more like restorative yoga than vinyasa style yoga, and it sounds like the former. I did a restorative yoga class the other day, and the instructor referred to it as active napping. That made me laugh. I am glad you enjoyed it. I am sorry yesterday was another tough day. Time will help, but even after so many years, I will still have moments on birthdays and holidays where I miss my parents so very much.

Thelma, great workouts. And I am so glad your kitty is back home. It sounds like you will be spending a lot of time with her, but I bet she is happy to be back with you and in her familiar places. We are headed to the mid-90s next week, so it is going to get toasty. But I suppose it is that time of year now since summer is officially starting.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ladies! I hope you had a good weekend. It was a hot one here and we are going to have a heatwave from Monday through Thursday.

Charmy is doing great. Her breathing rate is totally normal. Yaay!

My workouts on Friday were walking and upper body.
    Saturday - walking.
Sunday - walking and CG Epic Heat Day 4 - Total Body. It was glutes, chest and back. CG started with glutes. OMG! She did squats with a resistance fabric loop. These innocent looking squats killed! She also uses the band for hip thrusts. OUCH! It as an awesome workout.

I was supposed to have jury duty on Monday, but the courthouse had a recording to not show up on Monday morning, to call on Monday after 6pm for further instructions. My attorney friend tells me that the defense is trying to probably settle out of court or is ready to plead out, depending on what type of case it is. I hope they don't need a jury.

Laurel, great workouts! You crack me up with your battles against the lawn mower. If the machine cut the grass, you won!

I spent a lot of time with Charmy on Friday and Saturday, but because she is doing so well, I'm not watching her like a hawk anymore.

Sounds like a good part of the country is in this hot weather pattern. Bring back the rain!!!

    Have a great week!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Mine was pretty good. I spent Saturday on some indoor and outdoor chores, and Sunday was the same but more indoor since it was pretty hot. DH made it home last night, so that was the highlight of my weekend. 🙂

For workouts, on Saturday I did a 30 minute spin and 45 minutes of Peloton yoga. Yesterday was 2.0 Lower Body 1, 15 minutes of Peloton core, and 2.0 Chair Yoga. Today was a 15 minute spin, LMR Functional Upper Body, Bonus Upper Body with Balance Discs and yoga.

Thelma, great workouts. I find the fabric resistance loops so intense. They really are challenging in a whole different way than anything else. I am so happy to hear Charmy is doing well. That little kitty has got some fight in her no doubt. I really hope you don’t have to do jury duty. It is definitely hot here with a heat advisory through Wednesday. We have had storms pop up the last two days late in the afternoon and are under more severe threat of storms tomorrow and Wednesday. While they cool things down, I could really do without too much storm violence for sure. DH was happy with how the lawn looked last night, so I suppose I did win this battle with the lawn mower. But it wasn’t easy. I still have bruises.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies! I can't believe how hot it is here! It's like the sun got hotter.
The jury pool for this week got dismissed! YAAAAY!! What a relief!

I had a really, really good workout day today. I did hot yoga, indoor walking and CG Epic Heat Day 8 - Back and Biceps. I went as heavy as I could and it felt great. I had to go out of order because I did glutes, chest and a little back yesterday. I challenged myself to lift as heavy as possible, so that I could only get 6-8 reps per set. At the end of the bicep routine, I could barely get 4 reps in. I had a pair of my usual 12.5# dumbbells for biceps and at the last minute I decided to go with 15# and I did it! I also challenged myself with the back exercises. I increased the weight whenever I felt I could lift more.

My back is definitely feeling the workout and my glutes got a good workout in on Sunday because they were talking to me today! LOL

I've been doing triceps with elastic tubbing per my PT. I love it because my triceps are sore.
I am loving Epic Heat. I've decided to follow the program as a guide using weights that challenge me and not worry about the number of reps CG does.

I see my shoulder surgeon tomorrow. I can't wait to show him how much my internal rotation has improved and that my scapula is no longer a problem.

Laurel, great workouts! I'm glad your DH is back home.
We had a threat of a thunderstorm, but nothing happened.

Charmy definitely has fight in her. She continues to do well.

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 60 minute spin followed by 30 minutes of yoga, which felt great.

Thelma, great workouts! It sounds like you are really getting your strength back! That must feel great. It is hot here too. It makes me sad because everything was looking so alive and in just a few days I can see things beginning to wilt from the heat. I have no doubt your surgeon will be pleased with your progress.

    See you tomorrow.

    Hello Ladies,

We have been quite busy around here. Right now we are getting rain, so it is like walking into a sauna outside. We had the very hot weather, but the wind made it not as bad as it could have been. Yesterday both of the girls stopped at our house. I wasn't expecting the oldest, but all of a sudden she was walking through the door with the boys. SNL just needed a funnel for something. DH wasn't home, so I told him to go look in the garage. The youngest stopped over, and she had lunch with me and we chatted until DH finally got home. At least we got some things that will be going to the second had shop. I was talking to a friend of mine on Saturday, and she asked me how my knees where doing. I said that they where really doing great. The she asked me what I was doing, and I said that I was doing yoga everyday. She said so am I. 😊

I have been keeping up with the yoga, really do enjoy the meditation ones. I sometimes feel like I don't concentrate enough, and those really do help with that aspect. On Friday DH and I did PJ's Stretching workout. No workouts on the weekend. Yesterday was a lower body workout, which was a lot of barre type work. This morning we did a cardio workout that was AMRAP. I was doing those jumps, and my knees where okay with them.

Laurel, Awesome workouts! Glad to hear that you where able to get the lawn mowed before the heat really started. We haven't been outside doing any chores for the last few days because of the heat. Even doing the indoor chores makes us a sweaty mess. Just thankful that I have my sewing room down in the basement.

Thelma, Great job on your workouts! I hear you on that fabric band. PJ used that during our lower body workout yesterday. Since DH has been using the "easy" band, I had to break in the next size. Just glad that it has finally gotten to the point of not being so stiff that you can't move your leg. I'm so happy to hear that your kitty is doing so much better. You are very patient to deal with all that, and of course having all the other animals too. I'm sure that the chickens are looking for shade in this heat.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Tuesday was a recovery day. The long round trip to my orthopedic surgeon and the one hour wait left me exhausted. I did manage to walk indoors though.

My doctor was very happy with my recovery. He actually smiled! He's usual all business, so getting a smile out of him is special.

We got a thunderstorm, and it actually rained pretty hard for a little while.
My DH has four full-time workdays left before starting his partial retirement on 7/1. He can't wait!

    Laurel, great workouts!
It feels amazing to be able to lift heavy again.

I hope you got some rain too. It is sad to see things wilt from the heat. Most of my plants are in pots. I've had to water them every day lately.

Laurie, great workouts! I am glad you got to see your girls and grand babies.
Caroline loves using those fabric bands with hip thrusts. I had never had such a long squat routine using the bands though. It was a killer. Good job breaking in that fabric band!
Thanks so much about my kitty. It does require a lot of time and patience to be a kitty nurse. The monitoring part is definitely time consuming.
The chickens are hanging out in the woods under the shade of the trees or in our carport. We also have a huge hydrangea bush and they like to get under the branches. They've made that little garden section their spa. They've dag these chicken size craters around there, so they can take dirt baths in them. Chickens love dirt baths to keep their skin healthy and free from oils. We keep water for them in the carport.

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was LMR Functional Lower Body Fusion with the Balance Disc Bonus followed by Peloton Pilates and Yoga. My legs were feeling pretty worn out at the end of the LMR workout today. I went significantly heavier than Cathe throughout the main workout, but the fried feeling didn’t kick in until the Balance Disc section. It is amazing how much strength and energy are required for balance.

Thelma, I am glad you enjoyed a recovery day after the long trip to the doctor. I am also happy he was pleased with your progress. We didn’t get any rain yesterday though we do have a storm threat today. Our heat advisory was extended until tomorrow night, so it looks like one more day until it gets a little cooler again. Most of my plants are in pots as well, but I have them set up to be watered by our sprinklers, but that just isn’t enough in this heat. Thankfully they bounced back yesterday after a little TLC and a lot of water.

Laurie, great workouts. I am glad your knees are doing better. Both my knees and my hips are way better than they were a few months ago. I think increasing the yoga and decreasing the cardio has been a winning solution for me. I am glad you were able to spend some time with your daughters. I heard the heat up there has been insane…..at least as warmer if not warmer than down here. Hopefully you get a break soon.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies! My workouts on Wednesday were PT and walking.

My PT kicked my behind today. It was an awesome workout. He threw something new at me, the suspension bands. Those things hit the core hard! I think my entire body was sore by the time I got home. He had me doing chest presses by leaning into the handles. He said this time of exercise will help me stabilize my shoulders. He also had me doing squats with the suspension bands, but just as an added exercise. It was sort of like a pistol squat, but I was a little higher than a pistol squat. I was able to do really deep squats and walk from side to side while in that position. I loved it. He attacked my triceps with resistance bands. My triceps have been sore since he started working my triceps last week. One of the weaknesses I complain about is actually my right tricep.
I am feeling stronger and I am really excited about being able to workout my arms and not take three days to recover. I am actually recovering much faster. I do a lot mobility exercises during the day to make sure the muscles don't get stiff. My PT session was more of a total body workout. I thought I was going to be able to do a CG workout in the afternoon, but I was too tired from PT. I did some indoor walking instead.

It was another hot day here. There was a thunderstorm nearby. It eventually arrived here but it was pretty much a dry storm.
We'll still be in the low 90's on Thursday. We expect temps in the 80's starting on Friday.

Laurel, great workouts! Great job going heavier than Cathe.

Plants are definitely needing more water than what they usually get. I can't wait for the cooler temps!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

Again I'm sorry I wasn't on yesterday, seems like the time just flies by these days. Guess I'm loving retirement. 😁 Yesterday out workout was PJ's Chest & Back. She did it Tabata style, so 20 sec for 8 rounds of each exercise. Feeling that one this morning. Today was a stretching workout. Good thing that this one was short, because our new tree arrived just toward the end of our stretching. Of course Rocket was barking at them so we knew that they where here. 🙄 I also got in my yoga, just loved todays. I'm hoping that this will open up those hips more and more as I go along.

It is a sauna outside today, we got some rain yesterday. Feel for the guys digging the hole for our tree.

Thelma, Awesome job with all the workout, including the PT session. PJ has workouts using the suspension bands. Glad that it was working so well for you during you session. I love that the chickens are able to find the shade when they need it. We had a dog that used to dig holes, and then he would lay in them during the summer heat. Of course some of them where big enough that my brother could fit in it at the time.

Laurel, Great job with the workouts! What do you think of the LMR workout for a guy? Do you think that DH would enjoy them, or should we get into some heavy dumbbell workouts instead? I was wondering if the STS 2.0 workouts would be okay also. This would be after July, don't want to start anything until after our vacations are over with. DH set up a watering system for our potted plants. The system goes off at about 8am every morning. Saves us from forgetting to water the planters. This humidity is the worst part of the heat, now wind today at all.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Upper Body 1, 2.0 Mini Ball Abs, and 20 minutes of wonderfully juicy yoga from Peloton. That felt so good today.

Thelma, wow! That sounds like an intense PT session. But it also sounds fantastic. I am so happy that you are seeing such improvements now with your shoulder. We got hit by a storm at about 4:00am this morning which brought a decent amount of rain. It is actually pretty pleasant outside right now, though our heat advisory has now been extended again until tomorrow night.

Laurie, great workouts! And I love that you are enjoying retirement. 🙂 Regarding the LMR workouts, I think they are good for a guy, especially the strength ones (total body, upper body and lower body). He may have the same frustrations with the yoga, Pilates and mobility workouts he has with other stretching type workouts. But that being said, the Functional Mobility Fusion workout is my favorite of Cathe’s mobility workouts. And the yoga is more a stretch than flow style yoga. The Pilates workout is just weird, so I don’t even know what to say about that one. The Functional Core Fusion is good. It has a long active warm up, but the core part is all on the mat and uses a stability ball. She does a lot of explaining in this workout so there are significant breaks between the moves, which may be good for your DH.

Regarding the strength workouts, Cathe uses light weights, but for many of the moves, it is easy to go heavier. Her rep speed is faster than 2.0, but as with the core workout, she does a lot of explaining so there are pretty significant breaks to allow for set up and weight selection. She also gives a lot of modification options. In doing these two programs together (2.0 and LMR) this is how I feel about the programs. 2.0 workouts the big show off muscles. LMR works the spaces in between. That might not make sense but I can’t think of another way to describe it. But, just as an example, where 2.0 does straight bicep curls, LMR does bicep curls and then does them with external rotations so your working that bicep/shoulder area more. Anyhow, I hope that makes sense. I think LMR is worth a try, but would recommend just going up one notch in weights (especially in the lower body workout) from the start and then seeing where you can go from there. With Cathe’s weight, I think you both would be bored. Hope that helps.

DH is off tomorrow, so I will see you Monday. Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ladies! Friday is the end of DH's final week as a full-time employee. Monday will be the last full-time day. I can't believe this is finally going to happen. I'm so happy for him.

Thursday morning was beautiful. It wasn't hot and it actually felt cooler, but in the afternoon the heat came back. We could hear thunder in the distance for a while, but no rain for us. Thursday was the last day in the 90's! Thank God! We'll be in the 80's during the day next week with the possibility of rain.

The zoo adventures continue here. We have a broody chicken! This is a first for us. We now have to break her out of the broody cycle because we don't want babies. We don't even know if the eggs she was sitting on were fertilized.
This is a hormonal thing and a rooster is not necessary for them to go broody. It takes 21 days to hatch an egg! During this time the hen only leaves the nest to eat, drink and relieve herself once or maybe twice a day. She will obviously lose a lot of weight during that time. I thought she was dead when I found her in the coop in a nesting position. She wasn't moving and her eyes were closed. Amazing how nature works.

Our local shelter has asked us if we could help a tiny Chihuahua who is terrified of his own shadow and needs lots of love and patience. I don't know what DH will say about this request because he was already asleep when I read the email. If anyone can help the dog is DH. He is like the animal whisperer.

I had a really good workout day today. I walked and did CG Epic Heat Day 7 - Flaming Legs. This was a triset workout with a staple/repeater triset after each triset. Ladies, I was holding 17.5# dumbbells over my shoulders for a couple of trisets! This is a first for me! CG does staggered lunges into quats and lunge to squat. The squat part is hard with dumbbells over the shoulders, so I feel that could I only do shallow squats, but I did them. I had no problem holding those dumbells. I am amazed at this strength. I didn't even struggle getting the dumbbells up there!
CG started the workout with Bulgarian squats! So cruel!! I watched a video of a guy showing how to do a Bulgarian squat and he offered an alternative way for the elevated foot. He positioned his workout bench in an inclined position, which creates a nice cradle for your foot where the seat hinges are. I loved it! This was the safest I've felt doing these squats. I still only do them holding one dumbbell. Maybe some day I'll hold two, but right now I feel that I need a free hand to hold on to something in case I feel unstable.
Caroline also jumps in this program, which helps me with the jump therapy for my bones.

Laurie, isn't retirement great? I'm so happy for you.
Great workouts! Too funny about Rocket barking at the tree delivery guys. I know exactly what that's like. Our dogs think that they also have to protect the vacation rental up the road, so every time they year people or cars there, they go crazy barking at them. Sometimes the run up the road to bark at the people. Silly boys!
I am sure your yoga workouts will help you with your hips. The Malasana squat and frog poses are good for that.
Thanks for letting me know that PJ has suspension band workouts. I have to see what brand the PT place has because I know I'm not going to go crashing down to the floor with the one they have. I probably won't get one after reading reviews of the ones Amazon sells. Even the expensive TRX ones had horror stories.

Funny about your dog digging huge holes during the summer heat.

I think you should try a few workouts from different Cathe programs to see how your DH feels about them. He might surprise you and like them all!

    Laurel, great workouts!
The PT session was intense and I loved it. I think he's getting a kick out of throwing exercises to see if there's one I can't or won't do. No luck yet! LOL Those suspension bands were the hardest thing he's had me do. My legs were talking to me today from the deep squats I did.

I'm sorry the heat advisory has been extended yet again for you guys! I'm glad you got some rain.

    Have a fantastic weekend!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning was just yoga for me. We will be doing our workout tomorrow since DH has to go to a funeral for a former boss.

We had rain off and on all day yesterday, and when it rain it poured. We really didn't have to water the new tree, but then if we didn't it probably wouldn't have rained. 😁

Laurel, Love the workouts! Thanks so much for that very good information. I'm still working on what we will be doing. I really want to try the full body workout from 2.0, and maybe some workouts from Caroline. I do have the time to think of these type of things now. Enjoy you time with your DH today.

Thelma, Nice job with the workouts! You are rocking in the strength. Glad that you found an alternative way to do those lunges. Sounds like a much better way. I don't blame you one bit for only using one dumbbell either. Hope that you are able to help that poor puppy. I love that you call your DH the animal whisperer. Congrats to your DH also, I'm sure that he will be very happy to have some extra time instead of working.

    Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! I hope you had a nice weekend. Ours was busier than our usual busy. We picked up our little foster doggy on Saturday morning. The poor thing was so scared, he was shaking like a leaf. Once I was able to hold him, I just hugged him, and he relaxed. We've been busy with him giving him a lot of love and attention.

Good news with our broody chicken! We were successful at breaking her out of the broody cycle. We tested her on Sunday afternoon and she was back to her normal self.

I graduate from PT this week.
My workouts on Friday were Upper Body/PT and walking.
    Saturday - walking.
Sunday - walking and CG Dumbbell Dynamic and Isometric Upper Body. CG starts each exercise with an isometric hold for 25 seconds, then stars the dynamic portion of the exercise for 25 seconds. It was very good.

We had a little bit of rain on Sunday afternoon, but nothing on Saturday after the weather people predicted a strong thunderstorm.

    Laurie, great workouts!
Getting a new tree established requires a lot of water, so you're lucky it's raining there.

Thanks Laurie. I hope to be able to get rid of the shoulder weakness at some point in time. I feel that my PT has given me lots of tools to work with. There's no doubt that I have to keep doing the PT exercises forever.
It turns out that I may be a doggy whisperer! LOL The doggy is totally attached to me because I held him during the ride home. He's my little shadow. We didn't know we were famous at the shelter for being good with scared dogs. Our dogs' foster mom keeps telling the other volunteers that we did really good with a scared dog we adopted. I took the baby out on his first walk on a leash and he did great! He was walking next to me the entire 1/4 ml walk. He reacted to Roosty and tried to chase him. I gave the leash a gentle pool and gave him a firm NO. That was all the correction he needed!

    Have a wonderful week!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was a blend of chores and errands with some time to sit outside and enjoy the days, which was nice. Our weather has been cooler and rainy. We got absolutely poured on Saturday night for about an hour, and had another storm yesterday which knocked the power out again for a couple of hours. And more rain is expected today and tomorrow before we go dry and hot again. I am very thankful for the rain for sure.

For workouts, on Friday I did a 45 minute spin and yoga. Saturday was a 20 minute spin and Perfect 30 Yoga Basics and Core premix. Yesterday was a 30 minute spin, 2.0 Lower Body 2 and a yoga/Pilates blend from Peloton. Today was LMR Functional Upper Body with Balance Discs Bonus and 20 minutes of Peloton yoga.

Thelma, great workouts! I am so glad your strength is improving. Great job with the weights. I was surprised to hear you didn’t get any rain on Saturday because we were deluged. I also saw that Atlanta had to cancel flights because of storms, so I thought you might be impacted. Congratulations to your DH and his last full day of work!!! I am so happy for both of you. I am also happy you are providing a safe home for that little puppy. You have to wonder what happened to him to make him so scared. I am also glad your chicken is doing better.

Laurie, great workout. I hope your new tree is taking well. I always think new trees and plants do better when they get rain over just being watered, so I am glad it got some rain last week.

    See you tomorrow.

    Hello Ladies,

Our weekend was very quiet. It rained on Saturday, and just now I had to get back in the house because a big black cloud came over and started to spit at me. Guess the weed pulling will have to wait. I'm in the process of getting my nephew's quilt done for his graduation party, so that will be my focus for the rest of the afternoon.

My yoga has been the first thing I do in the mornings, and Saturday we did PJ's Functional Strength Workout. This one incorporated the kettlebell swing. DH was using his arms on this move to much, but he got better at it after I gave him a KB. No workout on Sunday, just my yoga. This morning was my yoga and I decided to try out Sidney Cummings with DH. We did a Full Body Low Impact Strength Workout. I really loved this one, and DH did quite well even though the pace was a bit faster. She did 30 seconds on and 15 seconds off for three rounds. Then there was a nice 60 minute break.

Thelma, Awesome job with all the workouts and finishing up you PT! Glad that you where able to get some great ideas from your sessions. I also have a shadow, so understand what you mean. This morning Rocket wouldn't go outside for DH, he waited until I woke up. He was more than happy to go with DH to doggy daycare though. I'm so glad that you both are highly recommended for skittish dogs, you both must have very calm attitudes toward animals. Glad to hear that your chicken isn't in the brooding stage anymore.

Laurel, Great job with all those workouts! Oh how those chores never end. Nice that you where able to enjoy being outside in much cooler weather, dang on the power outage though. Today was very nice outside until the cloud appeared.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Monday's workouts were walking and CG Iron Day 6 - Quads. There were LOTS of Bulgarian squats in this workout!

I've decided that I'm going to restart Epic Heat next week, so I can follow the rotation properly. I never imagined PT would turn into full workouts.

We got a little rain in the late afternoon. It came down hard, but we only got 1/2 inch of rain. At least the plants got watered.

I am already feeling like a foster failure. Little Rhett is just too attached to me. I told DH how I was feeling, and he said, what a surprise! LOL.

Laurel, I wish we'd gotten some of the rain you got.
    Great workouts!

Thanks so much on DH's semi-retirement.
Who knows what happening to the little dog and his family. I think they were just dumped in the woods. I don't think they were physically abused. He a little afraid of DH, but he wasn't on day one. I think it's because DH hasn't spent too much time with him because he's been busy but is now making a little time for him.

Laurie, great workouts! Good job for keeping up with the yoga workouts. How did your DH like the KB? I'm glad your DH did well with the faster pace workout.
What's the theme of your nephew's quilt?

I'll be done with PT on Thursday morning. I am ready to graduate now.
We are definitely patient with our pets. DH won't even kill a fly. He'll catch it if he can, then will take it outside.
We are relieved our chicken is back to normal. At least now we'll know what to do if it happens again.

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 30 minute spin into Cathe Live Boxing HiiT 2. Since I have been doing this endurance spin program from Peloton and the LMR/2.0 rotation, I haven’t done any non-spin cardio. I woke up this morning, though, and knew I needed a little boxing in my life again, and it felt great.

Thelma, great workouts. It makes sense to restart the rotation now that you will hopefully have fewer distractions. You’ve had a lot going on with your PT, your kitty, your chicken, your foster puppy…..Hopefully things calm down so you can get back into a routine. I’m sorry you feel like a foster failure, but I am sure little Rhett would disagree with you. Sounds like that little guy needs your love.

Laurie, great workouts. I like the sound of Full Body workout and glad your DH was able to handle a faster pace. The thing about having a wetter summer is….more weeds. I was pulling some out last week that were the size of small trees and wondering how they managed to get that big so quickly. It certainly is a never ending process for sure.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies! My workouts today were a great upper body and core PT workout and walking. One more PT session to go.

We are finally getting some heavy rain tonight, but our chances of rain don't look very good till probably Sunday.

    Laurel, great workouts.

I can't wait to get back to my normal routine next week. The little puppy is seriously attached to me. I'm sure he feels like a winner. LOL

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 30 minute spin, LMR Functional Lower Body Fusion and yoga.

Thelma, great workouts. Yay for being down to one more PT session. I am glad you got some rain. We were forecasted to get rain and storms both Monday and yesterday and we got nothing. So we will head into the hot weekend pretty dry. But there is a forecast for rain next week which will hopefully happen. No doubt that little puppy knows he won in life finding you!

    See you tomorrow.

    Hello Ladies,

Yesterday my oldest came to the house with the boys. DH and I where having a tough time keeping up with the toddler. He was into EVERYTHING!!! 😀 Our house looked like a tornado went through it. It was fun to have them over, but it was also fun to pack them back into the car. Today DH and I gave our living room a good deep clean.

Besides my yoga every morning DH and I did more of Sidney's workout. Yesterday was Arms & Abs Burn Out, this one was tough. This morning was Booty Builder with Strength Exercises.

Laurel, Great job with the workouts! Don't blame you for including that live workout into your schedule. Oh yes those weeds are going strong. I had to have DH pull out a very large thistle. I couldn't believe how big it was. He did have a struggle with it, so I'm glad that I didn't attempt to try and pull it out.

Thelma, Love all the workouts! Glad to hear that you only have one more session of PT to go. What a great name for the foster dog. Gone with the Wind is one of my favorite movies. Very nice that you received some rain. This hot weather really makes things dry up fast.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Wednesday's workouts were walking and CG Calisthenics.

We got heavy rain last night and got about 1 inch of rain. Our chances of rain are slim and none until possibly next Thursday. Fire departments are already warning people to be careful when burning leaves.

    Laurel, great workouts!
I hope our chances of rain improve during the next few days.

    Laurie, great workouts!
I bet you can't wait the terrible two's. LOL. It's amazing how much energy toddlers have!
Rhett is a nice name, but it's hard for nicknames. I keep calling him Rhettsy.

    Have a wonderful 4th!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Upper Body 2 followed by core work and yoga from Peloton.

Laurie, great workouts! Including the living room clean up. I am glad you enjoyed your visit with your grandsons, but 2 1/2 is an active age for sure. Hopefully everything survived intact.

Thelma, great workouts. Again, I am glad you got some rain. We are hot and dry and my plants are showing it again. It is amazing how quickly things dry up here, but that sun is hot!

    Happy 4th! See you Monday.

    Happy 4th Ladies,

Way to busy in retirement!! 😀 Of course my usual yoga in the morning's and we did another SC workout this one was Shoulders & Abs. Loved this one, she did an exercise for four rounds and then an ab exercise for four rounds. Always enjoy working the abs that way. This morning is only my yoga since it is a holiday we will be taking a holiday from workouts. DH isn't here, he went to a car show. I didn't go with since it is raining, and later it will probably be like a sauna.

Our weekend is busy with a birthday party and the baby's baptism. On a sad note, my dad's brother passed away yesterday. So only three of his seven siblings are with us, and all of them are his sisters.

Thelma, Great job with the CG workout, those can be tough ones since they are usually all bodyweight. I think Rhettsy is a good nickname. Rocket has been called a lot of names, but usually it's Rocket Man. 😀 We will be taking care of the boys in October for a couple of days, I'm sure that we will be very tired by the end of that weekend.

Laurel, Excellent workouts! I put gardening as a workout yesterday, it was so hot. I have DH tracking his meals right now, and I think that he is a little surprised. He is keeping it under his calorie count, so we will see if this helps him get to his goals also. I'm also making sure that he get more protein. He really has been eating to many carbs. We did have a little bit of where did the little man put this or that when cleaning up.

Have a very Happy 4th weekend,

    Laurie

Hi Ladies! I hope you had a great weekend. We had a good weekend and a great time at our friends' BBQ. Our little foster doggy got sick on Sunday, so we had to get up super early to take care of him. I was hoping to sleep in since I'd had a rough night. I was like zombie all day, so there was no way I could do a CG workout. The shelter gave us meds for the little guy's tummy that worked wonderfully.

I graduated from PT on Thursday and on my last session my PT had me doing farmer's carry laps around the clinic holding 10# dumbbells overhead and suitcase style. Even the female PT's were impressed that I was doing that. LOL. I did the suitcase style ones with 20lb dumbbells, but I'm sure I could've done 25# if not a little heavier. My legs felt like I'd just done a serious quad workout, and I couldn't figure why. It's he farmer's carry. This video explains the benefits and form of this functional exercise.

How Farmer Carries Every Day Can Transform Your Body

My workouts on Thursday were upper body PT and walking. I had not been able to lift more than 7.5# for shoulders. I did overhead presses and Arnold presses with 10# dumbbells in addition to the farmer's carry.
Friday, walking, Yoga/Pilates with weights and restorative yoga.
    Saturday, walking.
Sunday, walking and Tracy Steen Low Impact Hiit.

    Laurel, great workouts!

Things are definitely dry here. There was a big storm just about 5-6 miles from here at Blue Ridge Lake and we got nothing! They got the rain and hail. It rained for about 5 minutes last night.

    Have a great week!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. Ours was good. Friday was actually wonderful because we played golf for the first time in two years. We were virtually alone on the course and actually both of us played surprisingly well. It was just wonderful to be back out there again and I hope we can get back in the habit of going more frequently. It should be easier this year since DHs travel schedule has calmed down significantly. Saturday and Sunday were spent on indoor and outdoor chores and errands, but we also had nice downtime both days. In the late afternoon it was a little hot to do much else outside for sure.

For workouts, on Friday I did a 45 minute spin followed by Peloton core work and LMR Restorative Yoga bonus. Saturday was LITE Cardio Party and 60 minutes of Peloton yoga. Yesterday was a 45 minute spin and LMR Functional Pilates Fusion. And today was 2.0 Lower Body 1, Peloton core and Peloton yoga.

Laurie, great workouts. I hope you enjoyed the weekend. It sounds like it was probably pretty busy. I hope the baptism went well. I am very sorry to hear about your uncle. I imagine that is hard for the remaining sisters. I am glad you convinced your DH to track his food. Even if it is just for a few weeks, it will no doubt be educational. I know I am always surprised by something when I track my food.

Thelma, great workouts. And yay on the PT being over. I had never heard of the farmer’s carry, but it makes sense that walking with heavy weights would be a total body workout. I would be pretty good with suitcase style I think but the overhead ones……I would need to work up to for sure. That you were able to do it with 10# is super impressive. I am sorry Rhett was sick yesterday. Hopefully he is doing better today.

    See you tomorrow.
