Wow, that stomach virus really wreaked havoc on my workouts this week. Have only worked out 3 times (today will be 4). But I have reached my Valentine's Day goal of 165 a little early, and am well on my way to my goal, so overall I am happy. Hoping next week will be better!

Happy Friday ladies! Today is day 5 of the P90X series and I completed 58 minutes of the Leg and Back dvd along w/some of the Ab ripper X dvd. I can tell already that some dvd will be more problematic for me than others b/c I struggled w/leg and back today. Part of my problem is that I can only complete one pull up and the entire back section is different forms of the pull up. I tried to improvise by wrapping my bands around the pull up so I could at least do some type of back routine. While I did attempt to give it my all I'm really unsure on how successful I was at it. Now onto the problems w/the leg exercises. This dvd incorporates a lot of lunges or one legged squats (or something to that extent) and b/c I have a bad knee it was pretty difficult, so I tried to modify as best I could. All I can say is that I gave it my best and hopefully in time I find better ways to adjust.

Enough rambling, the workout is done....WooHoo, WooHoo!

In addition to the concert tickets and pedicure I'm suppose to meet a friend for lunch so that should be fun otherwise I'll be chillin in the house the rest of the day. I'm super excited about tomorrow b/c in addition to taking my Saturday morning kickboxing class my beautician and I will be taking a lap dance workshop. We have to bring an oversized man's button down shirt, tie and a hat along w/a yoga mat. According to the description in the brochure "this workshop will teach you how to work that chair and turn that special someone on! You will be amazed at the muscle and resistance this class will challenge you with. You will learn some of our signature lap dance moves such as the smother and feel the goods. We will also teach a simple striptease to do with the lapdance" This sounds super fun, I'll let you ladies know how it turns out.

I can't believe how much progress i'm making! I hope this journey stays consistent because i'm worried i'll wake up one day and all the weight will be back! :( AHHH So far this week I have found time in my day to break up my workout into 2 different sessions... this allows me to work out a little more and a little harder during each. I think this could be why my weight is down so much this week! Great job to everyone for all of your efforts!!!!!!! :)

    Hi guys!
So, this morning I am a little disappointed... I've eaten my exercise calories and have gained a pound... am wondering if the calories it says I burn are the calories I actually burn? I changed what I was doing for cardio and that may not be as effective.
Either way, I've got to do something!
    : )
Maybe I'm freaking out prematurely... my clothes are fitting nicer. Got into some pants I haven't been able to wear in almost 10 years! : )

It finally moved! Actually I figured out that the scale in the bathroom isn't working right and had to switch the the wii fit scale. But man, I was about ready to give up because the scale wasn't going down at all. Its been a very stressful week and its only getting worse. Its homework! homework! homework! and when I'm not doing homework. I'm looking for internships and possible jobs.

Congrats to everyone who lost weight this week! and if you didn't keep going because I was stuck for a months and it finally moved for me:happy:

Happy Saturday everyone! Well today is week 1 day 6 of P90X and is suppose to be Kenpo X which incorporates a lot of kickboxing moves, so, instead of doing the actual dvd I went to the gym and ROCKED IT OUT!. I completed 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and burned 305 calories in the process and then I headed to my kickboxing class. I was able to burn over 400 calories in this 45 minute class and I'm feeling really great right now.

Hello! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Busy/stressful time! DH has The Weather Channel on TV and I just heard them make a weird (IMO) comment. They were showing a picture of the snow on the White House lawn along with the fountains. The lady on there commented that the fountains were still running despite the cold. Admittedly, she may have meant that it wasn't cold enough to freeze the fountains. However, I would just like to pount out that in order to freeze running water, it must be MUCH colder than is neccessary to freeze standing water. Thus the reason they tell you to leave your faucets dripping if your pipes are not insulated and it's going to drop below freezing. Sorry, just a weird comment.

DH and I tried baking our own tortilla chips today. Not too bad. I got the first batch WAY too brown, but after cutting the baking time, they came out good. He put hot wing flavoring on his, and they turned out alright. He says he needs to figure out a better application service, though. Next challenge is to make our own tortillas. I found a recipe for low sodium ones. We'll give that a try soon. I'll let you know how it works out!

How has everyone's weekend been so far? Anyone caught in the "prodigous" (spelling?:ohwell: ) snow fall on the east coast? If you are, stay warm!

I challenge everyone to try a new recipe this week! Make it one that you probably wouldn't have tried before. Then share that recipe with the rest of us!

Personally, I am challenging myself to get in 4 workouts, and to drink 10 cups of water everyday. I have an INCREDIBLY busy week coming up, so I think this will be VERY important!

What is your challenge this week?

Which new recipe do you want me to share? You know I am a recipe addict. I think that I have five or six new ones on my menu this week!

My son in law liked the one from tonight - I put pork chops in the crock pot, cut up some turkey pepperoni on top of it, poured on a jar of spaghetti sauce, and cooked. Served over rotini with mozarella sprinkled on.

New recipe :- HALIBUT TACOS... I took halibut and marinated it with cumin powder and lemon pepper seasoning. Grilled them with a little pam spray and served them in corn tacos. I also added, tomatoes, avacado, cilantro, onion to the tacos and they were delicious!

First time, but healthy and we enjoyed it with spicy chilli sauce. Mmmmm!

Weekly goals :- I am also trying to get in 5 workouts every week (3 days running, 1 day swimming, 1 day walking (40mins)...

    Happy weekend!

i served a new recipe tonight and we liked it really well.

    Apple-mushroom pork chops

    3 4oz portobello mushroom caps

    1/8 teas. pepper
    1 Table. olive oil
2 medium cooking apples, cored & cut in thin slices
    1/2 sweet onion, chopped
1/3 c. reduced sodium chicken broth
    2 Table. maple syrup

remove stems & gills from mushroms. Slice & set aside.
coat skillet with nonstick cooking spray & pre-heat over medium heat.
sprinkle 1/2 of the sage and the salt & pepper over the chops & add them to the hot skillet.
cook for 6 to 8 minutes, turn once halfway through cooking. Remove from skillet, set aside/\.

Add oil, mushrooms & onions to the hot skillet. cook uncovered for 5 minutes, stir occasionally.
add apple slices, chicken broth & maple syrup. cook uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes, stir occasionally.
Add remaining sage. Return pork chops to the skillet, cover & cook 1 minute.
Serve pork chop & mushroom mixture. makes 4 servings

i entered it with this title in mfp. (even my spouse -who really doesn't care for cooked apples- liked it) -katie

I am actually trying a new recipe tomorrow (Sunday) Broccoli Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo, I am craving pasta lately and this sounded really good and decent in calories. Since I am just beginning to cook for myself more often I am always trying new recipes. My weekend is going great so far, got some homework done, went to the mall with room mate, window shop but didn't buy anything, clean the kitchen (my week for dishes, blah!) and worked on my professional resume. Tomorrow should be pretty good too, more homework, cooking, and catching up on sleep.

Goals this week are try to do four workouts, work on water as always. Losing two pounds really put me in a good mood:glasses: . I feel like anything is possible.
