It matters where your calories come from for a variety of reasons.

How can it if they are all exactly the same?

I'm not arguing. I'm trying to explain.
    But I give up.

Good luck to all. Have fun spending your dollars.

now... where'd that nuttellabrah get to...

You're frustraited because you keep explaining the same thing and I keep agreeing with you. You can explain it some more if you want. I'll keep agreeing. Whatever. I'm good.

    lol

you say you agree and then you say something i think is contradictory to that. And then you agree some more, and then i think you contradict. (edited to say "i think" cuz I could be misinterpreting...it's happened on occasion)

But hey, if we agree then...

For reasons that have nothing to do with the calorie itself as we're saying over and over again.

Basically a calorie is a just a calorie, but depending on where there coming from they do not all give your body the same amount of energy to use post digestion.

Nice to learn that I can just eat what I want and lose weight. I want seven cheeseburgers and fries with a milk shake. Every day.

Still say I can eat what I want and lose weight?

It's accurate to say you can incorporate any food you like into a diet that will result in losing weight. It isn't accurate to say you can eat whatever you want. Not the same thing. And I don't know why people are so stuck on that. I eat a Ruben sandwich from Arbys about once every two weeks. Why? Because I want it. But I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want like I used to if I want to lose weight. Just as I don't have to give up eating the foods I love. Both are true. They are not mutually exclusive. This isn't this hard.

You can eat whatever you want within your calorie goals. if you want to eat cheeseburgers and fries with a small milkshake daily then as long as you decrease calories in other area of your day to meet your goal then you will still lose weight. However this would not be the healthiest choice.

No, this wonderful discussion definitely deserves a third page. Let me get things back on track...

    You're wrong! Admit it!

Sorry but it would seem that you are being deliberately obtuse and are cherry picking lines to argue. Maybe the putting that statement another way might help you understand.

It matters what foods you obtain your calorie requirements from for health reasons. A calorie is a calorie in terms of energy, except when a few of them club together and disguise themselves as a Kilojoule. Where we get them from defines the micro and macro nutrients we get.

The twinkie and mcdonalds diets are extreme methods of proving that you lose weight no matter where you get the calories from providing you eat at a deficit. Are they healthy diets? Not in my opinion

To maintain health chose foods within your calorie goal that contain all the nutrients you need.

So calories are just calories for energy purposes

The part people are disagreeing with is your desire to use "calorie" and "macronutrient" interchangeably.

Ok I cannot post the study but am sure that I read that the differences are so small as to make no noticeable difference when counting calories for weight loss.

    Fats 98%
    Animal based proteins 90 - 95%

Some carbs (probably twinkles) less than 80%

    Yeah not much difference!!!!

Because there are properties to foods that exist outside of energy value.
