6 foot tall with surprisingly a uk size 6 feet, which I blame for the fact that I'm so clumsy and always falling over! I used to hate being tall when I was young but have learned to love it as I've gotten older. I still have days when I wish I was a little shorter. For example, I am doing a sky dive with my regular height friends in March and I am dreading the part where I have to declare my weight to the instructors! I am also hoping I dont have a little 5' 2" tandem instructor dangling off of my back when I jump out. I am hoping they have a Dwayne Johnson body double for me haha0

Yeay! I found a group of tall sisters! I'm 5'9". I have to say I love my height BECAUSE I can carry more weight. However....I hate the weight I'm at. So...I can use all the motivation and encouragement I can use!0

I also get the , "you don't need to loose weight, you look fine" ..."your too thin already" ...."your tall so it doesn't look bad" ....arggg
I would like a slimmer, more toned body ..... sadly I've put on about 10 pounds in 2 months and of course I can see it but everybody else thinks I look exactly the same.
I am determined to get it off and tone up more......
For jeans and pants ladies, I love New York and Company ... they have a "tall" selection and they fit me great.
I'm currently wearing a size 10 shoe and pants .... would like to get down to a 6 (haha) but never can seem to get down past 8. Does anybody else have these type of problems .... where you want to drop more weight but your body is like "hell no" ... I've never been smaller than 150, even when I try my hardest, the scale won't budge.
Okay, we are twins...I am also 5'9", wear a 10 shoe, LOVE shopping at New York & Company because their tall pants fit so perfect and I can never get down lower than a size 8! I even bought a pair of 6's from NY&Co thinking I'd totally fit in them in a matter of weeks. Never happened and probably never will!
Of course I get all the same comments from people saying I look fine, I carry my weight well because there's no way I could weigh 160! It is nice when us tall girls gain 10lbs, it isn't too noticeable to other people but I've used it as an excuse to slack sometimes!0 -
Love this thread! I'm 5"11 size 11 shoe, always getting the "you're so tall and thin, why do you eat so healthy" or "oh there's Megan eating a salad again".0
-
5'9" here and also love being tall. I agree with recommending Maurice's, they have great jeans for us taller folks. Miss Me jeans are starting to carry a 38 length...yay long legs!0

I have gotten "you're not going to lose anymore weight are you?" I have lost 8 lbs.....only 8. I appear to be rather thin because of my height and yes, I'm thin, but my stomach and arm area are bigger then the rest of my body. If I lost another 8, it wouldn't make as big of a difference if I was half this size.
I think I've found my twin! Lol! Can we be friends?!
I'm 5'10". I've been logging religiously for 75 days. I've lost 10 lbs, but I think every pound was lost in my boobs.0 -
Bump to follow! 6ft tall here!0

This is the best thread!!!!!!! I'm 5'10" and I've lost 43 pounds so far. While it sounds like a high number (and admittedly I am proud I've made progress) it's not as big of an accomplishment because of my height! On the other hand, while I'm tall and big and have short friends, I will NEVER shy away from a beautiful pair of heels! I definitely used to be awkward about my height, and it will always be a bit of a struggle to find clothes that are the proper length and fit, but I fully embrace it now despite how short everyone around me is!!!! Being tall is a gift, and I guarantee you there are more people wishing to be taller than shorter! Own your height ladies! If you ever feel self conscious think how envious so many other people feel of you because you are tall!!!0

Ahhh!! I'm so glad I saw this thread!!! I'm 6ft tall and have lost almost 35 pounds and now it's JUST starting to show a little. I can relate to almost everything people have said in this thread haha0

I'm 5'11 and 3 quarters....yes I always say that. I have the 6 footer complex going on. Sometimes I just say I'm 6' because with my hair I would pass lol. I wear a 11.5 shoe and I have a narrow foot. I hate to try on shoes just for them to be too wide. I do not like gapping shoes.
I so love the fact we can gain a couple of unnoticeable pounds...well until it does catch up with me. And boy did it ever catch me and pass me and left me standing in my over weight denial!! Of course I'm good now. Trying to reach my goal of 180...I'm at 201 currently. I might look 180  but the scale would have to disagree.
Oh the other thing I don't like....people telling me I lost enough weight. You look good where you are. Well let me pull off these clothes and show you what I'm hiding then tell me I've lost too much :noway:
I feel good. I know I'm healthy but I want a slimmer, toner body. I think people got so use to seeing me heavy that they have forgotten that I was once a slim basket ball player and hurdler. I'm trying to get back to that status...at least close to it.
Have any of you gotten the you're too thin remarks?
I totally get the "why are you still trying to lose weight" comments!! I've lost a lot, but my BMI index is still high, so I just want to be a healthy average weight!0 -
KlassyKassi wrote: »I love this thread! I'm 5'9", and I get so sick of feeling gigantic and awkward next to my short friends and family. And I love love love high heels, but tend not to wear them when it always makes me taller than my date!
It's so nice to read this thread and feel better about the fact that I am NEVER going to be a size 2.
Good luck girls, and feel free to add me for support.
I love when other tall girls wear heels! I'm 5'10" and wear heels everyday! I will never give them up!!! My boyfriend is about an inch shorter than me but that doesn't stop me!0 -
5'9 here and down 80lbs everyone keeps commenting on how much taller I look now! Thank you for all the suggestions on jeans that come in longer lengths, that has always been a struggle even before I lost weight. I'm looking forward to strutting around in some heels soon!!!0

5 ft 10 too. Hello fellow Glamazons0

ooh this is a good thread! i'm 5'11" and i've lost 30 pounds (273 to 243) and you cannot even tell... where my shorter friends have lost 5 pounds and you can already see it showing! soooo frustrating0

Hi friends
I am 5'10 and have always be self conscious of my height/weight.
Only recently have I been ok with being tall (DBF is 6'1 so that helps ).
I started at 234.2 lbs and am down to 162.4. Still trying to determine an UGW.
I love seeing all the other tall ladies I always felt like the odd one out!0 -

That's incredible! I wanna be just like you!0 -
Hi ladies,
5'10 here and love it! Just because it am tall I can eat more food and still lose weight.
I started a us size 16 and am down now to a size 8. I have a pair of size 6 that I can get on, but I can't sit in them yet.
I love when people have to look up to me and the authority my height gives me. It's amazing how people will listen when I speak.
I used to long to be petite till I became comfortable with the power height gives me.0 -

Wow I can't believe this thread is still active from 2011!! I think I may have posted on it back then too! I'm 5'9 and I actually love being this height! As mentioned in the intro of OP, being this height has it's own uniqueness when it comes to weight-loss.While I can 'hide' a lot of weight because of my height, it also takes much longer for any weight loss to appear! I'd love to have some new friends who are tall like myself. Feel free to add me!0
-
I'm 5'9.5" with size 10 feet. And I love being tall and 'amazonian'. Makes me feel strong0
-
I'm, a 6ft guy and don't like tall girls......give me one that fits under my armpit anyday!-6
-
Great thread! I'm 5'9" and hated being taller than everyone when I was younger, but now I love it (it helps that my husband is 6'6" lol). I've lost 20lbs so far, and have about 16 more to go. Keep up the good work ladies!0
-
Loving this thread.. I no longer feel the odd one out!
It drives me nuts when shorter friends lose 5lb and look fab whilst I struggle to look any different with a much larger weight loss. (Although I have now put it all back on again).0 -
I'm 5'7", all legs so I look much taller. I hate it! Maybe it's because I'm the tallest mexican lady ever.....!0
-
Six two Bitchesss y'all don't know the half of it when it comes to finding clothes
People should start posting their favorite links here to places that cater to tall people's clothing needs:) js, needs to happen:)

I'm 5'11" size 10 1/2 - 11 shoe. I love being tall and always well. I was the tallest Kid in school until i hit seventh Grade, It was bad enough being the tallest girl But until seventh grade being the tallest Kid with Playground Nicknames of Earthquake and Amazon Girl was Horrible. But when i hit seventh grade i finally loved Being tall. I've definitely gotten the " No way you don't Weigh that much" Comments and When i told my husband my goal weight which is 160 lbs He said "No hun thats tooo skinny We would see your ribs." But i'm still going for that GW just to prove to him that i'll be fine.
A yr ago i weighed 260 lbs, Lost 20 lbs and stayed at 240 lbs up until 2 weeks ago. The past 2 weeks i have lost 4 more pounds and yeah, You can't even tell.
I lost a total of 24 lbs and 3 inches from my waist and my husband Or anyone in my family couldn't tell until i hopped on the scale just to prove to them that i currently weigh 236 lbs.
If Anyone wants you can add me, Would love to have some Tall friends like me.0 -
I'm 5'9 and size 7 shoe. Lost 10 pounds. Clothes do feel looser but not enough to go down a dress size. Want to drop a dress size so bad!
It's funny because I used to be a size 12 and I was happy with my height. I was more confident back then, wore cute dresses and skirts, people approached me much more, men often showed an interest, etc. Now at size 22, confidence has gone and I hate my height. I always dress down too, throw on anything that I get hold of first. It's really all down to confidence and I think that losing weight will achieve that.0 -
I'm 6'3". Yup you read that right! Size 13-14 shoe! Impossible to find! Yes, I used to play basketball. No, my husband isn't as tall as me..0
