I'm the same way and in the same boat! When you have to cover for someone else's mistakes for so long, you kind of feel you have a right to dictate how they spend their money! If they mess it up, who do they want to make it all better?
My wife & I have been together for over 22 years...and we keep our money separate.
Coincidence? Discuss lol
My husband and I have been together 17 years and we share everything. Bank accounts, rrsp's, both on the mortgage when we had one, etc. etc. etc. That being said, we are both very good with money. I can see how it would be a problem if one was good with money and one was not. We also discuss any purchase over $50...even if the discussion consists of, "Hey, I am buying a pair of jeans and a new bra and it is going to be $120. Just wanted to let you know." I have never understood people who lie to their spouses about money.0 -

Don't get me wrong the movie was ok and it was still TMNT...but the turtles were more like mini hulks than ninjas and shredder was more like a mini transformer than a ninja warrior.
Would have liked to have seen more Jackie chan style fighting action and less eating bullets/ramming hummers with their shells. Also, Donatello has never worn glasses, why was it necessary to make him wear so much annoying gear?
Doesn't matter, Donatello is dead now true story.

My husband and I (married 10 years) recently separated our money and I have to say, it's much better this way. He liked to think of me as the spendthrift and would tend to blame the empty checking account and overdraft fees on me. Well, since he's still racking up the ODs and running out of money, I couldn't be happier. LOL0 -

Confession: I could NOT stop laughing. He's in speech therapy, and I'm very proud of him for even attempting to say Star Wars, and I KNOW we're not supposed to laugh at any of his attempts, so I had to leave him alone with my husband briefly while I went into a corner and laughed hysterically.
I am not judging you. I would have done the exact same thing!

I recognize only the 1987 cartoon series and early 1990's movies as legitimate canon for TMNT so this is false.
The rights to TMNT have changed too much probably. Between several versions of the comics, revisions of the cartoon, Nickelodeon, etc. there's way too much inconsistency.
One version of the comics had Leo losing a hand, Raph becoming the shredder and all kinds of craziness.
So I stick to the original cartoon for my basis of how the turtles should actually be. Sure, the comic came first but the comic had a totally different dynamic (not geared to kids at all) and the cartoon was what made them a big deal and what most fans recognize the most except maybe the original movies.0 -
Because I can laugh about this now here’s a two for one confession. When I was in the Navy, we stopped in St. Thomas Vi. for a port of call, while at a club some ladies ask me to dance for a girlfriend of theirs that was celebrating her 40 birthday, the reason they asked me was that she had a thing for Sly Stone and Italian men in general.
So with a little persuasion and a little rum I finally agreed. It took me a little to loosen up and enjoy it but I finally did get into it. I actually made some good tips from other ladies and actually a couple of guys that were at the club.
A few years later, an old girl friend of mine from H.S. found out about this and asked me to dance at another mutual girlfriend’s bachelorette party. Again, it took some coercion but I finally agreed to it. The party was at a bar and there were other people there. Everything went well, no issues to report. Afterwards, I hung out (no pun intended) with a few other friends and ended up hooking up with a very nice woman in her mid-forties. I thought that I would never see her again not that I didn’t want to, it was just one of those things.
Here comes the pie in the face. So about a year later, a girl that I had been dating for a while and which we were getting serious, decided to take me to meet her mother (yeah I see the lights going off in your minds, you know what happens next). It was the most awkward moment of my life and I could not wait to get out of there, I was sweating and my stomach was a wreck. Neither her mother nor I could look each other in the eyes.
She and I continued to date but I was in pure hell not telling her but her mother begged me not to and honestly, I really didn’t want to either but it was pure hell withholding that from her.
We eventually did not work out and went our separate ways and I have no clue to this day if her mother ever told her the truth or not.
That sounds like something that would happen on a sitcom. Great story!0 -

Okay, I chalk this up to my OCD, lol. Whenever I scoop something out of a jar with a spoon (i.e. peanut butter), I weigh the spoon first. Then I weigh it again after I'm done dishing out a serving. That way I can lick the spoon and track what I ate off the spoon as well.

We don't do it to "hide purchases." Kinda hard to lie about a new guitar, or a new wardrobe.
We did it because initially we were a couple of 22 year old kids that were always broke, so we split all joint expenses down the middle. If one of us had to cover the other, then he or she was "on the fridge" (a dry erase board on the fridge) until we paid the other back.
As the years went on, we continued splitting all joint expenses down the middle (including a joint savings account that we each make an equal monthly contribution to.) Monthly bills, vacations, cars, etc. We treat each other often to dinners, date nights, gifts, etc.
And we haven't fought about money in 20 years.

Married 17 years, finances are shared for the most part. However, about ten-ish years ago we both established "mad money" accounts. Direct deposit from our paycheck, $25, and if we want to buy something spendy and frivolous, we just use our own mad money. This has saved many, many fights. I am so glad we came up with this solution.0 -

I'm guilty of this, too. I tend to avoid the scale for a day or 2 after for fear that I have sabotaged myself. Also, I feel really guilty. My New Years resolution was to with stain from alcohol for 1 month. I failed.
I hear you both. I've never logged alcohol until i found myself eating very reasonably and working out hard and still losing nothing. So i was honest with myself a few times when alcohol was involved (and the snacking with it) and of course, I was basically offsetting the deficit i was creating in its entirety. So these days, i just add 10oz of red wine to my day right off the bat. I find it helps, even if you do go a bit above that. (10oz of wine for me is very optimistic). Sigh.0 -
On my first weight loss journey during the summer I ran everyday, twice a day for a month. But...I restricted myself from eating. I lost 24 lbs. When school rolled around again, I slowly began to eat. Then I would basically gorge on food. It was bad. I would eat almost anything and everything. I'd feel so bad about it that I'd throw it up. But the purging didn't do me any good. I'm back at the weight I started at in the summer of last year. Now I'm trying the healthy way. With fitness and nutrition.0
