Y'know, I generally despise Planet Fitness and their hypocritical "We're not a gym", "no gymtimidation" philosophies. But then every so often, a thread comes along which makes me realize why such places actually even exist, and why they're so popular with some people.14

What exactly did i say? I never put anyones workout down i simply offered advice on how to work harder and to ramp up your calorie burning, it was suggestive. Hiit was an example, if you walk thats fine, but what would it hurt to walk faster, higher incline, or jog, or sprint a few times a week too? If all someone does is the same routine for months and months on end how is that beneficial? Why would mixing it up be such a terrible idea? How can anyone be offended by that?0 -

If all someone does is the same routine for months and months on end how is that beneficial?
I can think of a few reasons why regular exercise is beneficial, but..1 -

If all your doing is steady state cardio day in and day out then thats fine, but you're cheating yourselves out of progress ..
This is as bad of a mindset as those that target fat loss. Who are you to tell people what their progress level should be, or really to insinuate walking isn't enough? This is the same mentality that I see around here telling everyone they have to lift heavy and kill, crush, or insert other adverb a workout, or go beast mode or they aren't really working hard.
Weight loss can happen through caloric deficit. No exercise even needs to happen for that one thing.
Adding walking is great for a bit of extra calorie burn, but more so for cardiovascular fitness and activating muscle strands.
Lifting increases muscle strand activation, circulatory systems, bone density, etc.
Like said above, HIIT is usually done wrong anyway, and overdone overall.
