Females only - lifting/weight training results?

All of these have inspired me to begin lifting. I'd like to start the Stronglifts 5x5 program at home. My husband will be starting it with me. We've decided to buy the equipment and work out in the garage. The equipment will be our Valentine's gift to each other.
For those that have done the Stronglifts 5x5 program, Do we only need a bench, adjustable rack, bar and weights?
Well, yes.
Thanks. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else we need. I was mostly concerned about the rack. The one on the SL website has 4 posts and the one I'm looking at has 2 adjustable posts.
You're going to want one that has safeties if you're lifting at home, or have your hubby spot you, or learn how to fail squats.

I can't remember if I was deficiting calories while I was doing cardio-/lifting. I know i read up/thought that if I ate too little my body would "eat" my muscle. .and I couldn't add much protein striving to deficit. I plateaued. I did have an increase in muscle, just was not feeling I was losing fat. Measuring told me I was doing well though the scale did not move. I got off track, and I finally am back to deficiting calories and just walking. After all these pics I'm re-inspired to lift now rather than wait until I shed more weight. Losing the muscle I'd gained has felt..bad. and my stomach looks so squishy again. Now i need to take current pics for progress!13 -
Bumping. Hoping to post here some day.5

I got a set but so far if I fail I just do the same weight the next week and I've generally been able to finish it that week.
This. I have gotten SO MUCH use out of my fractional plates.
I was thinking of buying 1.25lb ones, or maybe lower?
Also bumping in hopes of seeing more inspiring photos!0 -
Hi everyone. My name is Angie. I'm 50 and a stroke survivor. I started lifting in the rehab hospital, and got hooked.

.
This was Jan 2016-March. I had to stop bulking and cut for a wedding I was in. Haven't had a chance to bulk since. Cruise last winter, parents anniversary party a few weeks ago, surgery Tuesday to remove a thyroid, cutting through summer then I'll be bulking like hell this coming up winter.19 -

Also I only work out at home!8

Wow - lots of inspiration on this board! Will add to follow I started lifting in December because I've always been small and wanted to be strong! I think it has made a big difference on my arms/legs (will have to find some appropriate before pics at some point to be able to compare). I'm just finishing NROLFW stage 1, onto stage 2. I just do it at home, with dumbbells and a barbell! Keep up the fantastic work, ladies!9

If THAT is not the poster for "don't focus your weightloss goal on a number," I don't know what is. Fantastic results -- I'd take an extra 20 pounds in a heartbeat if they looked like that!

Might as well buy a whole set. They're like 30-50 bucks depending.3 -

This one is a little different- the left is me about 6 years ago at about the same weight as the pic on the right but with no exercise at all- I'm younger and wearing makeup so of course I'm cuter, but I'm soft all over with high body fat percentage and very little muscle. The right is me a couple months ago - I'm a bit more toned now and lost a couple more pounds since then, but this picture shows the change in body composition and effect of weight training at the same body weight pretty well.

Hi I have seen lots of mention of strong lifts, 5x5 and strong curves. None of Chalean extreme. is there something wrong with her workout? I have to workout at home and have power block dumb bell 3-24kg.Is there something better I could be doing?
Your transformation photos are all incredible and so motivating.1 -
I have to give this thread props! The first time I read it I wanted to start lifting immediately but it took me forever to gather the courage to go beyond 20 pound dumbells...now I'm 7 weeks into SL 5x5 and I am so excited at how visible the progress is already. I'm sure I'll have a good before/during photo to show off soon! THANK YOU ALL!15

If it incorporates progressive overload, hits all muscles groups and with enough frequency each week it could be fine. What is the program?0 -
This isn't much, but my results from a couple of months of focusing on body decomposition
