Hi! I'm new here. I'm Jen. A mid 30's mom to 2 girls, (one with multiple needs including autism), wife to a busy, semi-supportive husband, and I'm trying to do it for myself and them -not just them. Doing it just for them hasn't worked. I've lost 25 lbs since the end of Feb, but probably put 5 or so back on over the last few days. I'm afraid to step on the scale. I started at 267, was down to 242. Today I tracked it all, and it said if everyday was like this I'd be 267 in 5 weeks. It's taken me 2 months to lose it, and I was fortunate it came off that quickly. I need to get my act together. I've gained and lost this same 20 lbs so many times I've lost count. My stress level is always through the roof, and I can't count on that changing. So I need to figure out how to control this around it. I want to get there, but I don't feel like I have valid motivations.

@jen_mq welcome! What worked for the first 25? What changed for the last week? 25 pounds in just over a month is a huge loss, the 5 back could be your body resisting change.
For me, logging my food, all of it! even the stuff I didn't want to admit to, was my first step. It didn't fix anything but it showed me when I was having problems. Then I addressed the problems. Second I started walking. I worked up to a fairly consistent 3 mile walk with my dog and then got it under an hour. I followed a low carb, no sugar 1600 calorie a day diet way of eating. It really only started working when it became my new way of eating and not punishment. Meal planning and snack prep too. It requires planning to change. I sought professional help too. See my post above. I lost 50 by walking and a new way of eating. Accountability to myself and help from a dietician monthly got me through. The folks who frequent this group are wonderful and tremendously supportive. They are where you are or have been there. As for motivations, I have 2 boys that I want to see grown. A beautiful wife I want to watch turn champagne (redheads don't gray I've been told). I am able to stand up from the floor without a chair or something to push against. I can't tell you how much better everything is 90 pounds lighter. I'm going to learn to surf at 53.
Most importantly, forgive yourself when you fail today, but learn so you don't do it every day. Have more good days than bad. It's hard.

A little about me (may end up being a lot)
My name is Jennie, I'm 30 and 5' 3. I started on MFP Feb 1 of this year @ 255. I have lost 31lb so far. I have been obese since early teens, I think around 15 I was pushing 300lb (we didnt have a scale so I dont know for sure). the next 15 yrs saw yoyo weight gain and loss with other health problems thrown in the mix, including debilitating migraines. I married my wonderfully supportive husband. We have two rambunctious boys 4 and 1.5 yrs old.I was diagnosed with PCOS 6 months after my first son was born.(I now know what a miracle my boys truly are) PCOS explains everything I have been through with my weight, emotional state, and other health problems since I was 11. Was put on metformin which has help tremendously. Last year I had my gallbladder removed, which causes problems in its own. At Christmas we took in my husbands 15 yr old nephew, who has a lot of emotional trama from his parents (that's a 9hr long post in itself), but doing that has added a lot of stress on me as well as taking a lot of time with therapy, Dr and family visits. So now with 3 very attention needing boys and hubby working 24hr shift was a paramedic and he also working part-time at other places my life is very busy and very not me focused, but I am carving out my time.Things that I have done to make this a success so far is MFP, tracking every bite. working at 1260cal a day. got a UP Move activity tracker and make in sure I get in 10000 steps a day. Drink a plant based energy/protein shake for breakfast every morning. Take a fiber supplement and drink apple cider vineger 3x a day to help with the side affects of not having a gallbladder.I spent part of our tax return on a year YMCA membership for the family, I am very frugal so it makes me go to the gym so I don't feel I'm wasting that money. And they have child care so I don't have to use that as an excuse either. I'm looking forward to the new weekly weigh in challenge to help me keep focused on my goal in this new busy life of mine. **life's a dance you learn as you go**

Like someone else mentioned, I will also do my final weigh in on Saturday, April 22. It is doubtful that I will lose the 2.7 pounds between now and then to reach my goal, but hey, I want to try to come as close as possible! I will try to drink more water and walk more in order to maximize these last few days!
I still can't complain as the scale has consistently gone down, down, down. I just really wanted to reach the next "decade" during this challenge. I guess there is always the NEXT challenge!

Until next time; wishing everyone Peace B) , Love <3 and Weight Loss  !!

Well, I'm disappointed ... but will weigh in on Earth Day to end this challenge. I know what my 'problem' was ... and I need to put it into my calendar for next Great Lent to not go Vegetarian for the 6 weeks of Lent unless I learn how to be a better cook! o:)>:)

I will post my starting numbers for the Independence Challenge later.
PS ... oops, sorry @MermaidPrincessRach ... I missed that you called this Challenge "Ready For Summer 10 Week Challenge" ... I just kind of had it in my head from when @sand86802 first stepped up with a proposal for us to vote on ... please call it whatever you challenge moderators decide between yourselves and I will go along.

@sand86802 Helene, I've tried unsuccessfully twice to message you. I wanted to friend you so that I could see your progress pictures but it keeps telling me that there was an error in the system, so if you can, send me a friends request please! I loved your post. You are an amazing woman!

@pneschich -So glad for the great update! And the post was just so inspiring. God has really blessed you with an amazing !

@Nikion901 and @KATRENAJ -It looks like we all have a problem that requires some additional work. I'm having a major issue with sodium again this week and I need to get my behind in gear and get it DONE AND OVER WITH. This is crazy. I know better!

I really blew this challenge. Gain of 6.2 lbs in two weeks. Lost control and struggling to get it back. Much like an alcoholic who falls off the wagon. Have to keep trying though
