Is there a park or trail where you could walk instead? I know what you mean about the unleased dogs. I wasnt chased as a girl but everytime I house sit for my sister, her neighbors' chiuaua (sp?) tries to bite my ankles! And thats just a small annoyance. I can only imagine if it where a big scary dog! But I'm sure you can find a way to go for a walk!

Yes, there is one not too far from where we live (about a ten minute drive), so am thinking about trying it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

@FourLynne62 would you consider carrying a small container of pepper spray? Though they say be careful if you have to spray it that you don't have wind blowing it back into your face. :( Good luck, I hate that you have that, I love dogs but am still scared when one comes rushing toward me.

I'm not too crazy about spraying a rushing animal either. I probably would just freeze. I appreciate the feedback, and am going to try and just get it done when and where I can.

Today is Day 100 of my journey....and all truth be told I am falling back into old habits. I have got to stop this train wreck, this self sabotage. I don't know why I do this to myself. But I think it starts on days when I can't find my water bottle...one healthy decision side tracked, snowballs into an avalanche of horibble habits!!

Another sad horibble truth...when I was pregnant with both my boys, because of my weight and the way I carried it there were people that I saw every week at church that apparently didn't hear the announcement I was prego and were totally surprised when I walked into church one day with a new baby. I guess they didn't understand how embarrassing it is to hear that they didn't even know I was pregnant!!! And part of that truth is we want another baby and soon would be good timing for us but I'm so scared of not losing enough weight so that I will look obviously pregnant at 9 months along. And when I get stressed about my goals I guess is when I start to self sabotage.

What good advice... I was thinking of taking a break for July and August for several reasons... and now I definitely will!
I started January 19 so it will have been a little over 5 months. I really want to finish this challenge.
I will just take care to increase slowly like you said.
    Thanks for that.

    Name: Holly
    Age: 68
    Height: 5'3"

    Start Weight (April 22): 264
    Goal Weight (July 1): 254
(I have two vacations and two holidays in this time frame. If I meet the first goal prior to the end, I will rechallenge myself then)

    Weigh in week of:
    1. April 26 - 259
    2. May 3 -260.2
    3. May 10 -262
    4. May 17 -
    5. May 24 -
    6. May 31 -
    7. June 7 -
    8. June 14 -
    9. June 21 -
    10. June 28 -
Final weight: Saturday, July 1 -

    Weight -/+ this week: +1.8
    Weight -/+ total: -2.0

Sadly, I'm up again this week 1.8 pounds, but that is down from my high of 5 pounds, so I guess that means that my body is starting to get used to the added calories and the new workout, and hopefully the downward trend will continue and I'll be back below my lowest weight soon! I will be working Friday, Saturday and Monday and that will burn calories (I'm a licensed massage therapist as well as a Homeopathic Physician and my clients always get especially interested in the massage portion around holidays)

I had a bad day yesterday, mostly due to my fibro pain. I went over my calorie goal by only 3 points so that wasn't so bad, but was really deficient in water consumption and steps. I can make the steps up later this week as I feel better. The day before I had so much fun at the gym, I sort of overdid it and I know better, but it's a lot better today, so I will keep the extra exercise light and plan on a 4 star day. Water and calories are right on track. Steps I acquire later in the day. I'm traveling later today so I will have to be mindful to get them done prior to the travel or plan to have a late night walk.

Everyone have a Jim Dandy day and I'll see you later! So proud of all you losers and all you who are hanging in there when you aren't one of them!

    Truth

I went to the hospital today to speak with a stroke and ms specialist. Thankfully they have ruled on my incident last week and it wasn't a stroke. But he thinks possibly ms....so he is sending me for further tests.

1 of those was scheduled today and I needed to eat before it.

    I ate fast food... :'(

I fess up. I indulged. I ate a large chili from Wendy's which isn't bad for my meal plan goals....but I ordered a spicy chicken wrap to go with it :(

And I had juice when I got back to the office. :(

I hate that I crave stuff when I am stressed. And now I can't stop thinking of what else I want to eat. :s

I am trying to stay positive and encourage myself to keep my motivation going. Dinner is a new meal...and tomorrow is a new day. I can do this!

WE CAN ALL DO THIS !!!

@cellosmiles - drink lots of water, whenever your mind starts "going there" pick up the water bottle and drink. Then go for a walk. The only way to beat cravings and food thoughts is to replace them with something else.

    Thursday Truth:
I pigged out on biscuits last night, I made the Pilsbury Grands buttermilk biscuits for hubs for his dinner, and had two with sugar free strawberry jam myself. That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the sodium, and I really have to watch my other intake for the rest of the day. I have been tracking my food from midnight to midnight, so late night snacking is actually very early breakfast on my diary. For those of you who might not know, I work a late night shift, so my work day is 6 pm to 1 am, and I don't get home until 2 am, DH's dinner is usually served around 3 am, and we go to bed around 5 am.

Hello Everybody, I have decided to go ahead and start counting the calories and exercise at least 30 minutes 5 times a week.

We are expecting our first grandchild in December and I want to be in better shape! I just turned 54 and my weight is just going up!

My target weight is 155 pounds - I am 5'9 , that means I must release 100 pounds as my weight is currently 256 pounds (Oh my goodness me), I would like to do this within 12 months.

    Good Luck to us All!

@GOINSTD12 Thanks. I did both those today too. I cant afford to pay the hospital parking. So i walked to and from both appointments already...my steps are already over 6000 and i still have to walk the dogs tonight LOL. But its while I sit inside my work office....those thoughts gravitate within. Luckily i have a small snack for the ride home...so i can avoid those temptations i am dreaming of ;)

Good morning, we have some things in common. I'm also 54, with a similar target weight of 145-155lbs. I don't want to be high school weight. I'm 5'6" or 5'7" (in my mind) and weigh about 232lbs. I already have a few grandchildren, but one is coming in November! Let's get it done! :-)

Friday - Fitness (what are you doing to get fit? How are you preparing for weekend eating?

Fitness/Exercise....this is an area, that I find myself lacking. You've read my previous comments but I'm going to take some of the suggestions and try and make a goal for this coming week to intro exercise back into my life. I have got to start somewhere! So, my goal is to try and go to a local HS and walk the parking lot, it is as large as a track field! And best yet, no worry of a loose dog or stray one. It is about ten minutes away, but close enough. If I'm not able to make that happen due to weather or time, then I am going to pull out my exercise tapes and start using them. There is no excuse now not to commit to exercising. 30 minutes, that is my goal per day with a break on the weekend.

Preparing for weekend eating -- Good to get thinking on this one, especially with "Mother's Day" festivities. My husband is grilling steaks and baked potatoes over at my daughter's home, so I will broker my calories for that day to allow myself to celebrate with them. I also get to chase my almost two year old grandson around, so there will be some activity points, lol. Maybe I can take a walk in her neighborhood, too. Its pretty dog friendly, so no worries there. The rain is supposed to break by Sunday, so looking forward to the lovely weather.

Fitness Friday - I am so happy to say that this past week I have gone for three 5K runs. No record breaking paces (~12 min/mile) but I managed to get through most, if not all, of the runs without any breaks. I also realized last night that I have done all of these without the need for my puffers for exertion asthma. And on the last 2 (Mon and Thurs), my tank was not completely empty by the end of the run and I could have kept going!! I am so pleased with how far I've come with running since February. I've gone from ~1:30 of running at a time to being able to run for ~35 mins straight!

I've also gotten my *kitten* out of bed early a couple days this week and back to the gym for some full body strength training. Combined with the new, structured nutrition plan I've been following since Monday and I'm starting to see the weight drop off again. So far ~3.5 lbs down since Monday (some of it water weight I'm sure). Very glad to be digging my way out of the plateau that I've been in for the last month.
