    60 of 100 miles

Ran today with my friend we are about the same pace so it was nice. She ran 4 and I did an additional 2.

I’d appreciate if you all could keep a good thought for me. After 30 years working for the same company my boss came in at 3:30 on Friday and informed me that because I make “so much” money and my time isn’t billed directly back to a project I’m going to lose my job. She thinks I have until February. Thank you very much 30 years and you all F me. Hello I make what I do because I work hard and have been here for 30 freaking years, what do you expect me to make $30,000 year. I talked to someone I do quite a bit of work for there and she has a direct project I can charge some time to, but I’m not sure how much I need before the company will back off. Meanwhile I’m already sending out my resume and the company my friend works for has wanted me in the past so hopefully they still will. The only downfall is losing 20 days of vacation to move on. Not the best news for a single mom with a kid getting ready for college to hear.

@skippygirlsmom Wow, that sucks. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Running in -4C this morning made me realize how under dressed I was to run in -15C last weekend :#

@skippygirlsmom - Don't let this get you down! Management sometimes (almost always) forget what an asset their employees are, especially after so many years. They will eventually realize how much knowledge and experience you brought to the company, but by that time you will have moved on to something better!

@skippygirlsmom sorry about the job. especially after all the time you put in. I second the thought that perhaps its a blessing in disguise and there is something better around the corner waiting for you.

@MNLittleFinn I think i am running a few hills then I see your elevation changes and think.. nope.. lol. A big hill here might climb 100 feet before leveling off or heading back downhill. I guess when the highest elevation in the entire state is about 250ft I have to work with what ive got :)

@amymoreorless I read to my husband what your husband had ready for you and his reply was "we cant all be winners" :D:D Maybe he will be inspired however.. lol

Managed to squeeze in my 11 mi long run in the nature park before office hours today, but had to go run my exam review session without showering . Probably pushed a bit faster to fit it in than I should have given the 5K yesterday, but it was a nice day and felt good in my brand new Altra Timps. They were awesome on the uphills! Going to enjoy my rest day tomorrow!

Goals this month: Do 1 shorter race, plan for spring racing (register for 2 races), 90 mi total

    Day/Distance/Comments

11/1 Walked outside for 45 min + did my PT
    11/2 Ran 3.5 mi + walked 0.75 mi + PT
11/3 Fail (intended to run but ran out of time before leaving town)
11/4 Walked while out of town
    11/5 Ran 10 mi + stretched
11/6 Water walked + stretched and foam rolled a bit
    11/7 Ran 3.5 mi + walked a bit
11/8 Walked outside + getting back on track with PT
    11/9 Ran 5 mi + walked 1 mi + PT
11/10 Water walking for 45 min
    11/11 Ran 6 mi
    11/12 Ran 9 mi + walked 1 mi
11/13 Rest (planned to walk later but never got the time)
11/14 Rest (on my feet all day for lab, intended to run but ran out of time/energy)
11/15 Ran 3 mi and walked a little bit
11/16 Ran 5 mi and walked 1 mi, PT
    11/17 Water walked for 1 h + PT
    11/18 5K race + extra 0.5 mile
    11/19 Ran 11 mi + walked 1 mile + PT

    Goal: 90 mi
    Total: 59.5 mi

Oh my gosh you all are just the best, I feel so much better just reading your comments and works of encouragement. I had planned to look for a new job after Skip graduated because I’m really not doing a job up to my brain level, but I liked having almost 30 days a year vacation and the freedom to leave to do things with her whenever I wanted to do that. This will just push me to do it sooner. I didn’t talk to one person I do a lot of work for and she sent me 2 charge numbers to use and she told someone else who sent me an email yesterday with a charge number from their group. Both were horrified and wanted to know who to talk to to stop this from happening. Which I’m so appreciative of.

Skip walked in this morning and wanted to run with me, which we don’t do much of during the school year since she’s always practicing with the team. We did a nice 5 miles around the hood and chatted away, she’s a good kid.

    @HonuNui looks like a postcard!
@hjeppley great race for you and your son. I hate that they have nothing lower than 15 and below age group, that is rough when you are 9 years old. Great job in your AG and I’m so jealous of that medal, love it!
@_nikkiwolf_ sorry for the fall, looks like a deer feeder to me. All I can think is I don’t know any hunter that would use that, or maybe I don’t know any smart enough to make one ha ha
@cameronheel yeah for your daughter continuing to run and running with, it’s so awesome.
@amymoreorless super long run and yummy!
@bjderhak please take this in the nicest way, after seeing that picture I hate you ha ha I used to love to run by the palm trees at my mom’s house. “we can’t all be winners” ha ha!!!

@bjderhak I could go for that running weather and scenery - and that froyo (under there somewhere I'm sure, I'll take the toppings too).

@skippygirlsmom Of course your clients are horrified you aren't being appreciated. I hope that works in your favor, no matter what you decide to do.

Treadmill run at the Y today. I went in to work for little while and stopped off on the way home.

It's starting to snow, working up to a possible heavy lake effect snow tonight and tomorrow. My plan is to stay home all this Thanksgiving week, so I wanted to get some stuff done today and bring a few things so I could work from home (or not as the case may be!).

Was 30F and falling when I finally got out, so I grabbed my cold kit which proved to be just a little too warm, but I am sure I would have been too cold with anything less.

First snow of the season here, big fluffy flakes, but the ground is still too warm for any accumulation. Nothing much to report beyond that.

@bjderhak there is no way on earth I'm showing my husband your gorgeous photo of the palm trees. We're in MA and as soon as we get to Columbus Day he starts muttering about moving to Florida or the Carolinas. By the time we get to Veterans' Day the muttering has increased to full-on whinging. And this continues pretty much all the way to Memorial Day.

He looks at my winter running gear and says, "you do realise if we lived in Florida you wouldn't need all that?"

Unplanned rest day today. Yesterday I ran 18 miles. My previously injured ankle has recovered just fine, and is about where I'd expect it to be. My calf on the other side was stiff yesterday evening, and I had issues walking after sitting a while.

Today the calf is okay, but it's apparent I strained something near the left knee. Maybe a hip abductor, maybe some other piece of anatomy whose name I have yet to learn. I can walk, but could not run this morning. Have to be careful on stairs. Feels like I ran a marathon, not just 18 miles!

So, rest day and naproxen today. I'll take my scheduled rest day tomorrow. And if this isn't better by Tuesday morning, I'll be forced to admit I have a new injury. But for now, I hope to just recover with reasonable rest.

Went for my longer run today. Argued with myself about taking water; I eventually decided against it.

So almost nine miles without water and I wasn’t even thirsty at the end of the run, makes me wonder if I’ll need to carry water at all this winter. I wasn’t super hydrated or anything (in fact I was 16 hours fasted).

Just wondering how far other people feel safe to run in winter before either a) carrying water or b) ensuring they run on a route that gives them access to water along the way?

I've been slow the past couple nights. Maybe my muscles don't like the cold? Temp fell from 50 to 41 while I was out tonight. I don't dress particularly warm.

Didn't run this weekend. Yesterday we celebrated our grandson's 3rd birthday and today was a quiet day just to be together. Doubly precious before the crazy holiday season hits us!
