I'm going to try to start incorporating fun exercise on Sunday's now that the weather is getting better. Followed up with a moderate treat whatever that maybe. Example; hike/lunch or bike ride/breakfast with or without a drink. Something physical... But out of my normal workout. It doesn't have to be a all day thing, but just a nice outing to get out of the house for a little bit. Good luck
Love the idea @ali3boys. Jan-March just kinda sucks up this way for weather and dark. But definitely much more time outside soon!2 -

What if you volunteer on Sundays? Find a place that needs volunteers. I bet the blues will be swept aside. I always feeling better after I help someone.
My sister told me about a site that you can make cards for children who are ill. She says when she feels down, she makes some cards. And writes some inspiring messages. You can do this from your home whether you're crafty or not:)

Welcome! I am sure you will find support and encouragement here. I too, print a calendar every month and put it on my fridge with kiddie stickers that say, "wow!" or "I did it!" and "awesome!". I feel proud when I put a fresh sticker on, which isn't every day but has become MOST days. Seems silly but it helps me.4 -
My issue is that, I usually only drink once a week.. but I can't stop at just one or two drinks.. I get down glass two of wine and I see the end of four or five! My goal is to try and limit to only drinking every other weekend maybe? I don't know.. I just need to cut it out, because (like another post said in her response) I do so well during the week and then on Saturday all my hard work is eaten up by wine followed by hangover food and laziness.4

I've always drunk, moderately. However, due to stress from multiple directions, last 6 months of 2017 my regular weekday included coming home and cracking a beer, then another one, sometimes a third. Beer was a reward of making it through the day. Weekends were beer and / or wine. I also smoke so it irritated my throat and it was sore all the time.
In January, I started a very low carb diet. I don't drink beer anymore, if I want something comforting when I come back from work I just make myself dinner and eat it earlier. And my plan is to fit wine in just over the weekends. So far it worked, more or less. I drink wine 3-4 days per week, and moderately. I love wine and I enjoy it so much more when I just have a couple of glasses, with a homemade cheese platter or dark chocolate.
I'm flying on Friday evening and I plan to skip the standard glass of wine!
This is what was happening to me. I'd come home and really be starving, but dinner is not done. Hubby wants to have a beer before supper so I have a glass of wine too while I'm cooking. Then when dinner is ready, he wants to have just one more, sooo I do too. I just had to say, STOP. Drink water or tea while cooking and when dinner is done, we eat. No negotiation. We don't drink during or after dinner, so the food fills the void that was actually hunger and not thirst for drinks.5 -
I don't know if it's the time change or Sun, Mon, Tues, AF, but I had 9 hours of glorious sleep 2 days in row! Hallelujah!
And I actually feel like going to my yoga class this afternoon!7 -
I don't post often, but I read every single post from all of you. I backslid this month, been going over my goal a lot more than 50% of the time. The amazing thing is that while I was discouraged at the beginning of the month, I've actually been encouraged the last week or so. I've stopped opening a beer because "its time" at night. If I don't want a beer yet, I don't have it. That might not seem like much, but its huge to me. I actually drank 1 under my goal one night. Thank you all for being here and letting me go through this with you.

Sadly before I really became alcohol aware...between 3000 & 7000 weekly.
I am fairly new to this group. I can't figure out how to read the latest posts and to post. But I just went ten days (evenings) straight AF. I don't know when I last did that. I'm learning from you all!6 -

That was a hard habit for me to break. I sometimes cooked dinner, so I could get away with drinking a few glasses of wine while cooking. I remember first or second time that I cooked without drinking wine, it felt strange. But of course, like with any habit, it can be broken. You did well! You just said STOP. Changed your routines. Proud of you!

Happy you found us! I love the stickers idea. Some of us use the Dry January app as well. I like how aware you are about your limitations. We are all on the right track!2 -

Join the club! I am the same. I cant stop at one or two. My husband says just tell yourself to stop at two. I just chuckle at him; he doesn't get it. Maybe some people can do that, but not me. It's not that simple. It's like being on top of a big hill on a roller coaster; I just keep gaining speed.
After you have one or two weekends without a hangover, it may be just the motivation you need to keep it up. It's so worth the sacrifice. I love having my weekends back- productive, energetic, able to exercise...3 -

OK, since I prolly buried it under someone else's post, let me repeat. I just went 10 days Af and am proud AF. I cannot tell you the last time I went 10 days but I'm guessing it was a few years. You guys are inspirational!8

I love the Dry January app- I use it daily. It motivates me and it keeps me accountable. It allows you to put in your drinks and calculates units for you which is helpful because so many of us don’t realize how much we’re actually drinking.2 -
Pretty miserable today. But tomorrow is my bi-weekly weigh-in and I am only 0.4 lbs away from my goal. So at least that will motivate me to go to the gym and stay on my diet10

Today, while resting between sets, I looked in mirror and saw a change. My lower legs have been retaining water for a long time. I sleep with them elevated, watch sodium intake, etc. Today, no pudgy water calves! I believe it's because I'm not drinking wine every night. Yah! My liver and legs love this. No drinks so far this week, no desire for them. Maybe going out for happy hour later this week. We'll see.10
