Well, here it is the beginning of July! In June I decided to weigh myself daily for more accountability. Yeah, that worked for two weeks. lol Then I went back to only weighing in every week or two. SO...the first two weeks of June I lost four pounds and stayed there the rest of the month. Now that I know what works for me, I just have to do it.
July: Back to weighing in daily.
log every bite
exercise daily
begin some resistance work out
a couple more "home projects"
spend third week of July enjoying my grandson
Time to put the second coat of paint on my kitchen cupboards. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
P.S. to Re- Hello dear lady! You look MAHVELOUS!
Barbie- Thank you for bringing us to July!9 -
Thanks Barbie!
Did well on staying on track with the diet.
Sleep is improving because I am having fewer leg cramps.
July
1. Me time everyday
2. Continue diet of eliminating as much sugar as I can and refined grains.
3. Continue to walk and attend Zumba classes when I can, Swim at least once a week. Adding exercises that help my glutes not be so tight.
4. Continue to try and build a sleep routine that I stick to.

Happy July 1st to All!

Barbie: Thanks for getting us going once more.

Thank you Barbie!
I like the idea of clean slate!
My goals for June were not difficult, but I was so overwhelmed with other stuffs, that they weren't met.
Up 2 pounds since May.
July goals:
Log everything! I need that accountability
Fresh food
Movement every day (I need that ME time)
Lose 4 pounds
Thank you lovely ladies for all of your support! It means the world to me!
Lisa Am following your home journey. I live in the country and just found out that there actually are rules on fencing! REALLY? Good thing ours is already up! I am excited for your new adventure.
Matchka Great job on walk with husband. It will be an adjustment to have someone in your home other than the two of you, but remember they are there not only for him, but also you. Being a care giver is hard work, especially when it is our loved one. Just ask questions as you have done all along. Prayers continuing.
I need to get my day started. Had a great time at car show with grands. It was HOT! But I am not complaining, I prefer heat to cold any day. I am sitting here covered with a blanket in our house. Need to finish catching up on paperwork today. Need to clean up flower beds. Have to water plants.
Have a wonderful day! You are ALL SPECIAL LADIES!

Today will be about 64 degrees F and drizzly. It won't rain enough to absolve me from watering my friend's yard. She is on a cruise to Alaska and has a yard full of newly planted bushes and trees and I offered to make sure it stayed watered. She is the friend who walks the dogs when we're gone all day and gives me rides when Jake has the car for something. I am so blessed to have a friend like her and so grateful that I can be useful to her. She is the friend who cared for her husband with Alzheimers for several years until his death about a year ago. We walk every day so while she's gone, the dogs miss her.
Jake has planned an adventure today to drive up a road that we've not been on before. All the roads going south from here go up the foothills of the Olympic mountains.

I am still amazed at the differences a few pounds makes.
Again, Thank you for keeping me on track!

Happy July, everyone!
Janetr: Your neighbor sounds like an ignorant idiot. I'm sorry he was so openly rude. :grumble:
Becca: I hope your vertigo goes away and stays gone. Sorry about your sister being a nitwit. :flowerforyou:
Karen: Barkeepers Friend sounds just right for taking care of our new BBQ. Thanks for the tip. I've never heard of the product before.
Meg: Welbutrin is an antidepressant. I am not depressed but when I started I'd just lost my mom and was having a tough time. The reason I still take it is that I get day length depression in the winter and it relieves those symptoms. I'm guessing your doctor prescribed it because of the situation with your DH. Checking with your doctor is a great idea. :flowerforyou:
Ginger: That dust looks horrible. I imagine people are having breathing problems. Stay safe inside if you can. (((HUGS)))
Sue in WA: I hope the car troubles are sorted out ASAP. :flowerforyou:
Janetr: You are currently looking great. If you choose to lose a few extra pounds, I'm sure you'll handle it well. I am below MFP's recommendations on weight due to bursitis in my bad knee caused by an over use injury, and it is feeling much better now.
Machka: Congratulations on your DH being home!!!!
Allie: Happy 58, you sweet young thing!
Lanette: Thanks for the tip of CBD oil. We're leaving today for a week. I'll see about getting some after we get home. Thank you and Karen!
Mary: Congratulations on Sarah going home today. Yay!!!
Heather: Congrats to your brother for his renewal of vows ceremony. :flowerforyou:
wildrosedragon: You are wise to focus on what you can control. Congratulations on your progress. :flowerforyou:
Re in TX: What a great amount of progress, you are looking GOOD!
We are leaving today for a week. I don't know whether I will have internet access or not. I'll stay in touch if I can.

Kylia - glad you like it, thanks for commenting to let me know you're there! I'm enjoying it, and it's wonderful to be writing about something real and tangible and not political. My other blog got so political that I ended up having to post saying that I was dropping the topic, basically. Hate walking away from writing and feeling all up in the air and off-center. Writing is usually my happy place.
As far as the pics go, the only way I've found to make them smaller is to use a program that allows you to resize them and save them. There's a free program out there called paint.net that mimics Adobe Photoshop, so if you've ever used Photoshop, it's really intuitive. Other than that, I haven't found a way. Possibly something on a phone.
And you looked beautiful both before and after.
My sis should be here in an hour or two. Planned very little, at her request, but she did get someone who can check in on her son tonight, so she and the two nieces will get to stay the night. Will be so cool to see family! Right now, we will probably go up and take a look at the new property, and then drive up to a natural swimming hole, called Natural Dam, where a rock wall contains the majority of the river, with a six-foot falls, and behind the dam, it's deep enough to swim. Only supposed to get up to 84 degrees today, so should be lovely.
I only realize how much I miss my family when I get a chance to see them, and then get so impatient to hug everybody...
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Katla, thank you for your kind words. I'm still above a "normal" BMI, I'd love to reach that range. We shall see.
Wishing you a safe and wonderful week in your RV. I looked at interior of the Bounders and it appears to look very similar to our 2007 Sight Seer!

Hooray! Made 7 pots of blackcurrant jam with our glut. Just cooling off on the kitchen surface. I will put pretty labels on.
Also made a HUGE chilli in the IP. Just about to add beans and tomatoes. I always put a liquorice flavoured dry chilli in mine, plus cocoa powder. Heavenly.
Katla - Have a wonderful trip and a peaceful 4th July. That is the anniversary of my wedding to my ex. 48 years.
Now to get on the recumbent bike and catch up on my Scandi noir.

There was someone, sorry I forget who, that wanted to go out on the glass viewing platform at the Sears Tower. My home state being what it is, in Houston, they've built a swimming pool with plexiglass bottom and sides, at the Market Square, 40 stories up:

Hello ladies! I have not been on here in a long time, and haven't commented ever, I don't think. Anyway, I love the inspiration and support in this group. I am turning 57 this month and really need to get back on track. My goal this month is to lose 5 pounds, get a minimum of 12,000 steps daily, win 3 weekly step competitions, and get back to strength training.10

That would be me. I hope to get to the Sears Tower in August when I go to Chicago to visit my Dad.
Thank you for the link. How exciting it would be to go swimming in that pool! I do wish I could! But my poor DH who suffers from Acrophobia gets upset even thinking about the prospect that I might do so even in my imagination- lol.

Happy July 1st!
Barbie, thanks for giving us the opportunity to be together in this group. I have learned so much from everyone and consider myself truly lucky.
And I love the opportunity to "start over", lol.
My weight is up from a month ago. I have been overactive in the bedtime snack department with salt and sugar, so my mission today is to have ready low sugar and low salt snacks if I absolutely MUST have something after supper.
Goals - keep walking, minimum 6000 steps per day and hopefully lots more. Keep doing the Strong Women Stay Young three times a week. Cut down on computer time and read more. Cut way back on the sugar and salt, see above. Get back on the Fast Diet at least once a week (not eating until 3 pm works well for me) and a 12/3 (or maybe 14/3) food intake regimen.
In June, I was really engrossed in reading about our aging brains and bodies and how to keep our wits and health as we get older, lol. SO MANY experts yet so much conflicting advice and research as far as dairy and meat. Although, most of them agree about cutting out sugar and processed foods, getting exercise and good sleep.
Yesterday I leafed through Valter Longo's book, "The Longevity Diet". He's the creator of the Fasting/Mimicking Diet which, as I understand it, is based on the Mediterranean Diet looks to be quite strict. He also advises very low protein and complete several day fasts to regain health.... that is, until a person reaches late 60's.
However, he refers to "eat what your ancestors ate" - in other words, if you are of German heritage, what did your ancestors eat? His diet protocol is no dairy, no meat - only fish, plenty of beans, veggies, etc.
Yet, I had German ancestors on both sides who ate lots of eggs, whole milk and cheese, meat like pork and beef and chicken (very rarely any fish except canned tuna once a month), potatoes, veggies from their gardens, fruits generally in heavy syrup, no beans except baked beans a couple times a year with plenty of brown sugar and bacon, pies and cakes and cookies loaded with sugar and butter and lard. Little processed, all good home cooking. They ate this way all of their lives!
So, I'm trying to process that and look at my diet in a different way... how can I eat like my ancestors but make some tweaks to keep my brain and body healthier? There was diabetes and dementia and clogged arteries which took a few out in their 80's - but the healthy ones lived well into their 90's.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to July.
Lanette

I watered my friend's yard this morning early as I was walking Sasha after Bessie went home. I took Sasha off the leash while I ran the sprinkler and watered the hanging plants. Suddenly I heard Sasha bark and turned expecting to see someone in the yard or next door. Instead, Sasha had seen her reflection in the garden mirror and was barking at herself.

Heartfelt thanks Barbie. You are our lighthouse!
Michele, thanks for the Bubba info. Have to smile at the brand name... ;}
Karen in VA, love your goal, That IS the key, when we take that one step it all starts to fall into place.
Rebecca, Oops, didn't mean to stomp on your post, seems I was on your wavelength . . . then (no no not THAT) made me snort my tea
Machka, hope the home care worker is self-sufficient and doesn't impinge too much on your space, either physical or emotional. I'm imagining the universe sending you a kindly-but-brusque sister of the old fashioned variety.
Barbie, wish Joe would channel Jake! I love exploring... Joe not so much. ;}
Kylia, thought you were a cutie in the 7 yrs ago picture... then... WOW!
Katla, safe travels, peaceful Fourth.
Lisa clear bottomed swimming pool 40 stories up? [urp]
