It's mostly for heathens, but we can take the scenic route to the final destination.
Ooo, take me: I'm a heathen! I love a good road trip, even when said road is paved with good intentions!
I make a really good tiramisu (with homemade sponge cake rather than ladyfingers, so it's easy to make great whalloping acres of it). And I could bring focaccia and savory bread pudding from the excellent artisan bakery just down the road.
Alright, I'll call and upgrade to the double decker handbasket. :laugh:

I made reservations!!! I also live a 5 minute walk from a Mexican bakery; I'll be bringing a Tres Leches cake.
, but would love to travel in such great style and in such magnificently good company. Can I get a seat on the double-decker handbasket if I bring my grandmother's Boiled Raisin Cake (you boil the raisins, not the cake) and my own recipe Oatmeal-Everything Cookies?

Boiled Raisin Cake is killer-good with chocolate icing, and whether chocolate turns up in the Oatmeal-Everything cookies depends on whether there was any chocolate in my kitchen when I made them. But I can make up a pan (or three) of Triple Threat Chocolate Chip Brownies with Chocolate Frosting just for you.

As someone who has maintained for nearly 5 years and who does not eat clean by any definition - I freely admit I may not be able to do that without (loosely) counting calories and using MFP as a tool to help me.
Does that matter?
I mean, the Internet is here to stay and I am not giving away my iPad and I don't think MFP is going to close down.
In other news I may not be able to wake up for work on time without my alarm clock,or manage my finances without a budget, or remember all my shopping without a shopping list or find my destination without a map or remember my place in a book without a bookmark.
For all those who can do above without the tools, that's great - but why the issue about using them indefinitely??44 -

Yep. I already have. I lost my initial weight (about 170lbs) over a 2 year period, then went on a 1 year break from MFP & counting calories. I basically did a body recomp (without knowing what that was), continued working out and eating what I learned was my maintenance portions. I did gain 6lbs over the year, but dropped a pants size.
I turned my MFP maintenance into my normal. So when I stopped logging and just ate normally, I didn't gain back the excess fat. That's the beauty of never eliminating foods while losing weight, I never deviated from my normal eating habits other than relearning portion sizes, so when I stopped "dieting", I just ate what I was used to eating all along.

I use MFP more so I don't under eat when I am making a conscious effort to lose weight. I know myself, and that I can go a bit overboard on cutting out too much while also ramping up my workouts. I'll eat a mostly healthy diet and supplement with junk food to make sure that I'm not in too great a deficit. I try to hit the 1/2 lb/week rate pretty consistently.24 -

MFP has made it all easy for me. I have my carbs, protein and fats set up so I have my numbers of grams to hit daily and work with that. And yes calories, but I work more to the carbs etc. But the calories are a big part. Why because what I eat daily for calories compared to what I was before May of 2018 was a huge difference. So it is the CICO. As for carbs I watch closely I am not what most would consider super low. But at 56 grams not high either. But as a T2 Diabetic carbs are not my friend. The simple fact is many sugar carbs, and bread carbs are the very things that will shoot up a blood sugar reading to unacceptable readings. So for me, and understand not the people who do not have a medical condition. There is a real reason that I am now pretty much staying away from the processed foods, the white sugar and the bread carbs. My end goal is to see how many of the Diabetic medications I can get off of. As I lose the weight, and exercise more. I have gotten off two medications, but would like to get off some more.8

I am still lost as to why it is somehow superior to maintain without using MFP than with using it.
What system worked for VUA21 is great for her - but not sure why it is more impressive than anyone who does it with using MFP.

It's not. At least IMHO, tools exist for a reason. I absolutely need my alarm clock to get out of bed on time, my grandfather never needed one as he woke up at about 5AM everyday naturally. It's no different than MFP, some people need this tool, some people don't, neither person is superior, we're just different.22 -

For each of these things, there have been times in my life when I didn't need them and haven't bothered with them.
