This is a fascinating website! You can see wind direction and all sorts of other things. You can see where the big winds are, like Typhoon Mangkhut and the 100 km/h winds down here in Tasmania. The strongest winds have mostly moved off Tasmania now, and we've died down to a relatively calm 40 km/h.
You can move around to other parts of the world, and zoom in, and look at all sorts of other weather information too.

Saturday -- Winter came back. Winds gusting up to 100 km/h, temp at about 6C with a "feels like" temp of -10C, rain/sleet.
I was going to go for a run, but no.
We walked through some stores, then a bit later we rode our trainers ... Zwift!

Early morning greetings! Slept poorly due to my falling off the wagon into a dominos pizza! Here's the back story...DH and DD have a lovely little routine of getting dominos pizza together whenever I work late. DH must have been missing her (and the pizza) because he called me as I was coming home from work and asked -- how about a pizza and some netflix tonight? Stunned, I said sure! of course!
We ate on the couch and watched a movie, something we never really do, but salty, (yes even sugary) pizza is a once in a decade kind of thing for me, I guess. The movie was cute (Ali's wedding) and of course the gesture was sweet, but now that's done and dusted. Back on track with beautiful, healthy, whole foods, not processed. Food that fuels me and makes me feel good--not bad--the next day!!!

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! First day off in 11 days and I get to spend the majority of today on my brother in laws boat out on the lake! Woo-hoo! This will probably be one of the last times he is able to get his boat on the lake this year. The weather is getting cooler and they are in the process of selling their home/moving. So the boat will be going into storage in the next couple of weeks.
To all of you introverted ladies: You let this extrovert in long ago! lol It seems I am an ENFJ-A (like Heather I have no idea what the -A stands for) The Protagonist. I agree with pretty much all of the points that they touched on. I DO believe that some of my "ways" are learned; and life kind of forced me into these learned ways. By nature, I am more likely to sit back and let some one else do things. I love a good book. I love time alone. BUT...if I were retired, or had a job where I worked alone, I would most likely ALWAYS choose to be around people as much as possible. I am that woman that will strike up a conversation with you in the grocery line, bathroom, during a walk...Annoying, aren't I?! This little tidbit on the sidebar made me giggle. Insight of the Day: Protagonists are the most likely personality type to make new friends during their travels.
Janet- You look amazing! I also love that cameo ornament that you made! So beautiful!
Pip- You and Kirby!
Karen VA- You (and your grandson) are just amazing! Makes me happy to see him happy with his school/schoolyear! What a difference for him, yes?!
Penny- Love, love, love the view from the hilltop! And those berries are HUGE! Our raspberries have come and gone and they never get that big.
Well, I know there are people I am forgetting to respond to. *sigh* that's what I get for days of just reading and not responding right away! Sending love to all of you! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

NYKaren- Netflix and chill?! I hear you on the saltiness of restaurant pizzas, though. I can't do those anymore.0

Morning ladies - Another extrovert here (with introvert tendencies). I can't find my test to get all the letters, but that much I remember. I took the test once for a company I temped for. They wanted to hire me full time, but I didn't want to work there permanently. The drive from my home was fine for a couple of months, but not for the long term. Anyway, they had me do the test and then tested positive applicants looking for similar results. They liked the way I fit in at their small company (about 8 in the office, 20 in the machine shop). I took the test again years later when I worked at HP and got almost identical results. The lady that I worked most closely with was the complete opposite of me. We always said that she and I made one person, and we said after the test we had proof. She liked to work late, I worked early. Between the two of us, we manned a project almost 24 hours a day for a few months so someone was always available to help with issues.
Michelle - IR is injured reserve (a sports term).

Heather - I went back and found that hyphenation definition after the first four, where so many of us landed as INTJs, because it interested me. The -A is Assertive: "Assertive (-A) individuals are self-assured, even-tempered and resistant to stress. They refuse to worry too much and do not push themselves too hard when it comes to achieving goals." The -T is Turbulent - "Turbulent (-T) individuals are self-conscious and sensitive to stress. They are likely to experience a wide range of emotions and to be success-driven, perfectionistic and eager to improve."
It's been the most eerily correct description of both my strengths and weaknesses that I've ever taken. Trying to take it with a grain of salt, but it's too accurate for my comfort. Even took the test again this morning, just to see where I'd end up and ended up in exactly the same place, as an Architect. Totally agree with the comment that this thread appeals to those of us who are introverted to begin with, sort of a natural selection. For anyone interested, here's the link again to the place where you can take the test, and it's free: https://www.16personalities.com.
Still processing the whole thing, but my memory tells me that once upon a time, the first letter was an "E" for me, and it no longer is. Which just tells me that our personalities change over time. Or our ability to assess ourselves correctly, perhaps.
Edit: Couldn't resist having my husband take it, and he ended up being an INFJ-A, the Advocate, makes sense of why we make a good pair. Not sure two -Ts could end up being a comfortable relationship.
Glad to be home - gained less than a pound on this trip, which will hopefully be gone as the usual water retention goes away. Hoping to actually lose on the next one, but only I can make that happen...
Love y'all,
Lisa, at home in Arkansas 'til tomorrow.

Did Amy Dixon’s Give me 10 DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Prevention’s Slim, Strong and Firm DVD.
There was a list of places that had evacuations and nothing was listed for Wake County where Raleigh is located. It’s just cloudy here today. I wish I knew how DJ was
Yea for me! Today was my official weigh-in and I’ve lost the 4 pounds I gained while in St. Kitts. Horray!
Sharon in WA – aren’t these rescue groups mainly for purebred dogs? I have no idea if that dog was a purebred or not. He was so sweet and at least I know that he’s safe. Even if the owner had evacuated and left him behind, you would think that the owner would at least have texted us. Well, at least I know that dog is safe and will most likely get a good home. On another note: I’m sure things’ll go OK during this “hurricane”. It’s been downgraded to just a tropical storm right now. Of course, the papers are sensationalizing things “deadly (we have to use that word) storm”. It’s just cloudy by my house right now.
Penny – forgot to mention before, impressive oxygen uptake!!! I bet those raspberries WERE good. They certainly look it!
I made pumpkin soup because I like pumpkin but that was something I didn’t care for (the soup). If I have extra pumpkin, I’ve even sometimes had it with my breakfast!. I like pumpkin bread, it in cookies, donuts, just about everything else. I just didn’t care for the pumpkin soup
Vince just looked on weather.com and it appears that the rain should start soon. Evidently some roads are closed in Charlotte, but looks like we’re going to get a couple of inches less. Of course, this is a woman so she’s unpredictable. I have no idea why Charlotte roads are closed, it just started raining there. Our maximum winds have dropped down a bit from yesterday’s forecast.
Karen in VA – I’m so impressed that your gs knew “trypophobia”. I had no idea the meaning and I’m MUCH older than he is This storm most likely isn’t going to be all that bad. Mainly because people are prepared. It’s when you aren’t prepared that things are bad.
KJ – one of the things that I liked about NC before we moved here and I was just checking out the area was the fact that people WOULD talk to you in the grocery line. As a matter of fact, the cashier would hold a complete conversation with you. Now in PA where we were, you could have a heart attack in line and the people behind you would be “well, I get to move further up the line”. People here would help you if you had an attack, I question if they would in PA – I doubt it. Perhaps the reason I’m an extrovert but also a “I’ll do it myself, and do it completely, in advance of when it needs to be finished” has to do with the fact that I many times had only myself to depend on when I was growing up.

It's a little bit bland just on its own, so I often use quite a bit of black pepper or curry powder with it. I also don't make it from scratch. I buy it in the can or package.
Also, roast pumpkin with roast chicken is really nice. We do a roast chicken surrounded by potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, onions, etc. that's yummy!!

Sharon in WA, yes, I listen to audio books. My local library is connected to the Washington Anytime Library that has a huge collection of audio books and e books. I read e books on the Kindle app on my phone when my husband wants to lie down with me and I turn the light off and can still read. Right now I'm listening to an audio book and a choice of several podcasts, reading an e book, reading a fiction library book, and reading non-fiction book that I got from Paperback Swap.
I took the test and here are my results:
Personality type: “The Defender” (ISFJ-A)
Individual traits: Introverted – 79%, Observant – 79%, Feeling – 72%, Judging – 94%, Assertive – 63%
Role: Sentinel
Strategy: Confident Individualism3 -
Barbie - I have a library card here in NC. I can get books (ebooks or audiobooks) from all over NC.
I also have a library card in FL. There I can only get access to books from that county (which isn't all that big).
I wish I could get more, but I can only get these ones.

yesterday was the last ride for the summer bike for the season, gonna put her to bed. will start riding the heavier winter bike now, no more backpack, now using panniers1 -

Kudos on your better oxygen uptake! You mention being an old gal. I’m 65! Is there hope for me after my gastric bypass, do you think?
I’m really beginning to get excited about my surgery. I wish I had a date! Folks who call this “the easy way out” have no idea what adjustments and changes we must ready ourselves for. For most of us in my support group it was/is the last best hope for success after having tried almost literally everything else.
Sharon in WA
Sharon, I had gastric bypass almost five years ago at 64, I'll turn 69 in November. I lost 125 pounds. I workout with a 25# kettlebell and walk about 3 miles every morning on the treadmill. You are so RIGHT having approximately 80% of your stomach removed is NOT the easy way out. You must be sure to diligently follow your vitamin and minerals intake as instructed by your surgeon, nutritionist team for the rest of your life. You can face serious health consequences if you slack off. Of course there is hope for you!!!

Machka: Sending good thoughts for those who are in the paths of storms in the Philippines and the south eastern US. I enjoyed the weather app you shared.
Sharon in WA: I also love Diana Gabaldon’s books. I have many of them that I bought from audible and all of them in printed books on my shelves. I’m not quite as fond of the Lord John military adventures. :flowerforyou:
Penny: I’ve never seen raspberries that large before! I’ve always loved raspberries best of all berries.
Karen: I hope that you don’t get hit by the storms.
Barbara: We travelled through your part of Oregon several years ago and found it lovely.
Michelle: I’m not a pumpkin soup fan but I love it stir-fried. I also like sweet potatoes stir fried with beef or poultry. I think they taste similar to pumpkin but are much easier to work with. :flowerforyou:
Barbie and other readers: Our local library is part of a system called Library to Go. We can download a huge number of books and read them on phones, ipads or computers. DH loves them on his ipad because he can set the size of font. This system is managed through Amazon. I used to listen to audiobooks while I commuted and bought quite a few. The company was Audible.com. It is now owned by Amazon. Those books are still available to me. I sometimes access them so I can listen while knitting. I don’t listen in the car because DH is not comfortable with them.

Pumpkin not a fan
Lisa thanks for the explanation! I’m a - T and turbulent is (unfortunately) a perfect descriptor for me. I admire you assertive types.
Sharon & Janet it doesn’t sound easy to me - where I work a group of pre surgery candidates meet for support and exercise twice a week. They are dedicated. And, yes, unfortunately I am constantly worried about “doing it right” but have no idea how I could change that.
Barbara YOU hung/ Purged 2 pieces of ART! WTG! - yeah, I’m of the Star Wars generation so a MMO computer game (since I’ve always been a gamer) was a no questions asked fun time for me. A raid team is 8 or 16 people cooperating to game together and take down a villain. A healer is a gamer who concentrated on healing the team instead of attacking the villain.
KJ Have some well deserved fun out in the lake today! I hope the weather is perfect for the sail(? Sailboat? Or motorboat?)
Karen. I’m impressed with gs and Trypophibia too!
Michelle and Barbie I’m going to have to look into local libraries- you both are inspiring me!
NYKAREN What a sweet interlude! My DH loves pizza so we make sure I have a friendly munchable dinner and just get pizza for him. I no longer eat bread, but there was a salad in a bread bowl I used to get from Domingo’s when he ordered pizza.

Jury duty Monday means an unplanned for 16 dollars so I’m going to splurge and get a haircut. I know a place that charges 25 so with tip I can get out for 30 dollars. I hate wasting money on haircuts (my husband and/or I generally trim my bangs (“fringe” to those in the UK) every couple of months. But my last haircut was in November and my husband is really not up to the task.
I’m crossing my fingers that they see my education (J.D.) and dismiss me from the jury quickly. Not that I would mind being on a jury - but the dismissal is pretty much inevitable and it would be nice if they could do it quickly so I can enjoy the rest of the day (AND get that haircut).
Extroverts: I adore them. Since I do enjoy people (one on one) they are really the people with whom my relationships flourish. I am wary, tho.
I have a problem with “sinkhole” people - I am a magnet for the type of person who can’t be bothered to remember or ask about my life but are eager to fill me in and engage on every thing in their life. I am trying to not get so easily hurt by this type of person but just recognize them and keep them at an emotional arm’s length and not invest in a relationship.
In my experience “sinkholes” tend to be women and men tend to a more give and take relationship style. I try not to prejudge but I’m also trying to protect myself - a tricky tight rope.
Rye7 -
Making a king prawn curry for dinner, with spinach, peas and tomatoes. I have done the veggie part and the smell is driving me insane!
Did my run today. Listened to very good Soul Music podcasts on Dvorak's New World and The Hallelujah Chorus. Rori and anyone else caring for dementia loved ones, the last one was very touching.
Feel a bit less anxious today as nothing is going to happen over the weekend. To tell the truth, I'm resigning myself to staying in this house. Yes, we will have to move before we get old, but if this falls through I don't think that this is a good time to sell. Brexit has spooked people. I just want my life back and be able to make plans. I want to enjoy myself and be able to make bookings for things. I want a break. Living in limbo is not good. Thank goodness DH and I have each other.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -

I am glad you gave this type of person a label. I worked closely with a person like that for many years. For a long time, I thought she was my "best" work friend but I finally got fed up with this type of friendship. And honestly have not missed it a bit.
