Karen: I did text Meg this week because this was the weekend she was planning to come to Denver. Unfortunately, the interstate was closed due to blizzard conditions, so we did not meet up. She's dealing with some challenges, and doing her best to maintain self-care.

Thanks, Rori! Sorry you two weren't able to meet up.
Allie Uh-oh...that manager should be on thin ice after making a sexual comment to you. Good luck today.

Rori I add my voice in thanking you for the update on Meg. From her posts I know she had her struggles with family issues too! Prayers and love to her.
Actually prayers and love to all of you.
I miss Joyce too and Sylvia. I know there are others that have come and gone. Hoping they are well and able to enjoy activities they are passionate about.

Tough weekend for me. Slacked on logging my food so I likely overate both days. Ugh!!! Learning from my mistakes and I am planning to log everyday.
Lalacroix. Thanks for explaining NEAT to Katla. I wondered what that was. Ive gotta stop asking the kids to bring me things. 😔
Katla. Yes, I will add a fun thing “for me” every day this week. I used to love running so I was thinking about doing the couch to 5k app. It will also help me lose weight.
Sharon near Seattle.
Thank you for your post. Oh have I thought of doing a surgical intervention so many times. Honest truth is I am just too fearful to have elective surgery. I have lost the weight and regained many times and now I have reached my max weight. I am going to give myself another shot at just living and eating healthy. I hate this feeling of defeat when I mess up but hoping these changes will eventually stick. I’m hoping I get to the point where I’m eating to live.
I think replacing goals is a good idea. I definitely hold myself to way too many goals all the time. I always have too many irons in the fire. I’ve always been that way but I’m planning to change that.
That’s great that you have lost so much weight. I can’t imaging how good you must feel. 😊 I know you are proud of yourself.
I’m giving myself a year to get my weight off. I’m hoping to see great improvements by summers end. I’m going to keep at it, a little at a time.
Thank you for the inspiration.
You will likely reach your goal in no time at all. ❤️

I can hardly believe it's just Monday evening! I feel like I've done a week already.
Let's see ... up at the crack of dawn to get my husband in for his bloodwork by 8 am.
Off to uni where I struggled through a tutorial without coffee!
Walk to work (3 km).
Worked & finished a rough draft of my husband's seizure management plan & worked & got into the Main Assignment for Uni & worked ... stayed late.
My husband came into town (again) and we headed up to a dinner meeting/AGM for our cycling club.
Was elected president of the club - I'm the first female president.
Taxi home because we didn't want to wait for the bus ... wouldn't have gotten home till after 10! Saved ourselves an hour there.
Put away laundry & picked stuff up off the floor so more area can be cleaned when the housecleaner comes tomorrow.
And shortly I'll keep working on the Main Assignment for Uni, I think. It's only 11:30 pm.
So lots of walking and about 7 flights of stairs.
Oh, and in case anyone thinks there's no relaxing, I am sitting here in my pyjamas Shazaming a Waltz CD which, when ripped, gave me no album or song info.

I struggle with goals, I often have lofty goals that I never meet. And then I choose to consider myself a looser, that is counter productive! I have had my step goal at 10,000 + a day and really fought with it last year. I decided in December to make it 11,000 this year, and my goal is not 11,000 per day, but instead an AVERAGE of 11,000 per day – this has worked much better for me, I have kept it above 11,000 average, but there have been a few days of 7-8,000 sometimes life gets in my way. This is much better for me.
Kim from N. California
Kim, In the books I've read about meditation, the author suggests setting a goal of meditating "dailyish" because if your goal is daily meditation and you miss a day, you can feel like a failure. I like that thinking. I also like your plan of an average of daily steps.
Ginger, I listen to Gretchen Rubin's podcast and love them. I just finished reading her newest book, "Outer Order, Inner Calm" and listened to it as an audio book. I highly recommend it.
No rain today so dog walking will be extra nice.

In traumatic brain mode today. Researching stage of finding the right legal help. I am going off to paint today to help heal me.
Hope everyone is having a great day and doing what they need to do to reach their goals.

Hi all,
Hope Meg gets back to us soon. I know her life is complicated.
Had two successes today after a really disturbed night with not being able to sleep because of my cold.
Firstly, I had ordered a plain chocolate bunny from Amazon as a present for DH. He only likes dark chocolate. When it arrived it was only in a padded envelope (Hermes delivery, not Amazon) and was completely smashed. Went onto the website to complain and the automated system asked me to return it!!!! Well, I navigated through the 'contact us' system and told them what I thought of that! Had a nice letter back to say we don't have to return the bunny and I have a refund. Success!
Then I decided to go out for a run along the seafront with DH walking beside me. My son is always on at me to have a go at a 10k and I'm always telling him I can't. So today I decided to up my distance to 6k. In fact I did 6.25k. Nearly 4 miles. Don't feel too bad, but treated myself to a Hot Cross Bun when I got back. I hope to gradually increase my distance until I can do 10k. I do have to be careful though as my legs get very tired afterwards. I am nearly 70!!! For the new people, I was a determined non runner until last year when I started on the C25k app. Now I love it.
Now to make chorizo and lentils for dinner. With kale. When I can stop sneezing!

Margaret: I think you are wise to find out how to bring about a civil law suit on your son’s behalf. :flowerforyou:
Shannon in rural Ontario Canada: Congratulations on your progress with exercising! WTG!!!
Melissa: Welcome to a great group of women. In the beginning my biggest challenge was portion control. I found that I could make progress if I measured the amount I was eating. I’d always eaten heathy foods, but I’d been eating way too much. I bought a food scale from Amazon at a fair price. The food scale was easy to use to measure my portions. I also bought restaurant style food dishers in quarter, third, & half cup sizes. They made it easy to serve myself a known amount. The dishers were a bit pricey but worth it to me. Good luck to you.
SueBDew in TX: I am sorry to hear that you’ve been having headaches. I hope they go away soon. :flowerforyou:
Karen in VA: It has been a while since I saw anything from Meg. I worry about her, too. The last I heard, her DH was back in prison in CO.
Rori: Thanks for the update on Meg. She’s in a tough situation & my heart aches for her.
Allie: Good luck with the meeting with your boss. :flowerforyou:
Margaret: I miss Joyce & Sylvia, too. Joyce was so supportive when my DH was diagnosed with MS. I’ll always be grateful for her kindness and helpful suggestions. Sylvia had difficult health problems, too. The last I remember, she was involved in an artist's co-op and having a great time. I hope she is okay.
Lisa in OH: Many of us have been here far longer than a year. I have no intentions of dropping away because this group is so supportive & helpful.
M in OZ: You are so productive. WOW!
A neighbor passed away. Gary was a vibrant and active man & the news saddened & surprised me. I don’t know any details. He and his lady are snowbirds from California who spend winters in CA & summers here, near her son.

Dear Heather, awe sorry about the smashed bunny, but you could always wrap it up in beautiful wrapping and call it an Amazon bunny hazard! Don't throw it away though! If anything it can be shaved and used as a nice cake topper.👍

I'm sorry Katla, my condolences to your neighbors family, and to you.💖

Hello all! We got a mini snow storm yesterday! Ended up with seven inches of heavy wet snow. The power has been out at my house for the past 24 hours. So I haven't had kids here today. Trentin is here, but just for an hour. Power came on a couple of hours ago- in time for me to see that Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is burning! Ugh! My heart! I had myself a little cry over that. First stone laid in 1163. Older than the U.S.A.. Stood through many wars/invasions and the city growing and changing around it. Ugh!
My son arrives home from Chicago, tonight. He was only gone five days, but I miss him. I have noticed I don't sleep well when he is out. lol I worry in my sleep. Can you tell he is "the baby"?
I made a fantastic black bean and lentil "southwestern" loaf yesterday (it finished baking just as the power went off). I was going to make black bean and lentil burgers; but they do fall apart easily, so I decided to bake it in a loaf pan and slice it. It is yummy.
Welcome to all of the new ladies! Bookmark the page and come often! Log daily, and just keep moving!
I got an hour of shoveling in this morning! I bet I burned off more than the 600+ calories that it states. That was some HEAVY snow! But...I was so cold that I drank two large mugs of hot cocoa today!
Well, that's all I have for now. Going to jump in the shower and try to get a little warmer. I feel like I am going to be cold forever. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -
Wow! Rita! Looking great! Little green men must be the key!1

Against all sad expectation, Scooter made it home from the vet. Yesterday morning at 3:30 Joe woke me to see Scooter having "fits", right leg trembling uncontrollably, back arched as if trying to poop, losing his footing and falling over. Emergency vet walk in doesn't open til 8:00 am (just grateful they're open on Sundays at all) so stroked and soothed as best we could and gave him a whole Tramadol (pain killer). Saw vet quickly but Xrays, ear culture and urine test results took over 3 hours due to the two emergencies (dogs hit by cars) that came in. Looks like urinary infection is causing the abnormal "humping" response which is tweaking his back putting pressure on nerves. His left leg displays some nerve damage so right has been bearing double burden, explaining the trembling. Ear infection could be making equilibrium/stability issues worse. Rx new antibiotic, additional pain meds. While we know the day is coming, it is not yet. Scooter is resting comfortably and hasn't had any fits since starting the new meds. We took both back in today for their annual "well pet" exams and shots, then Scooter again on the 24th for a dental, and again on the 28th for another urine test. Vet postponed Scooter's shots and exam til the 28th to save us an exam fee.
Was so wiped out when we got home I inhaled a Subway sandwich, bag of Cheetos (put me 300 C over for the day), half Joe's bag of BBQ chips and crashed into bed for a carb coma nap. No palms for me!
Meeting friends tonight for a real beer and vegan meal so lunch is raw veggies and a little hummus.
KJ "I.just.want.warm.weather' from your mouth to God's ear! 7 inches of heavy wet snow sounds like more than a "mini-"snowstorm to me
Megamom 81 lbs, AND socks that stay up? Hooray!
Katla great news about your DH. Now that he's feeling better, is he less resistant to the RV trip plans?
Shannon in rural Ontario, Bravissima! Those are spectacular NSV's for you!
Suebdew so glad the scary turned out to be benign.
Kim I love the "average steps" hack, think I'll borrow it.
Ginnytez packing own snacks and getting up early to use hotel's fitness center, excellent strategies!
Machka you made me laugh with "hearing my Mother's voice come out of my mouth" that happened to me when we fostered 3 teen-aged nephews. I could also hear her up in heaven laughing her @$$ off. ;}
Rori thanks for the Meg update, please let her know she's in our thoughts.
Viv I'm with you about being out of aerobic condition. Despite the fact that I dance 90 minutes twice a week, I get quite out of breath on the "pack walks" at dog group, and if they go up the least little slope, forget it! Hoping it will improve in the coming weeks... or months... ;}
Allie good for you for speaking up about the inappropriate comment. Neither you nor your co-workers should have to put up with that trash.
Lisa in Ohio "...get to the point where I'm eating to live" Yes! That's the point indeed!
Machka no coffee before tutorial? :noway: Congrats on the "first femail president" election but wow, did you really need more on your plate?
Margaret so wise to take breaks to feed your soul, and to thoroughly research the legal help you need.
Barbie, thanks for the reminder about "daily-ish" I'd forgotten reading that.
Heather 6.25K? Brava! Hot cross buns ah, sure hope Freddie's has them in stock this week.
Katla (((hugs))) sorry to hear of the sad and surprising loss.
Carol what a shock about Notre Dame. The live videos are horrifyingly sad.
Rita hubba hubba!
Welcome MavisJones, sounds like you're building on a solid base of simple achievable goals. Well done!
Welcome Melissa 062667, I hear you, my DH can drop 15 pounds in 3 weeks that would take me 15 months to loose. Best tips I can offer is to weigh your food (what Kim said) and to use lean protein to combat the hungries.
Welcome back Paouline, showing up is the first step.
Spoke with my LA friend yesterday, she's doing as well as can be expected and will have a lot of family around the holiday. Will schedule a visit to her later this year when Scooter's situation stabilizes and I can find less costly flights. Hesitate to do the 15 hr drive (even over two days) after the blood clots I got from my last long drive. Fooey, I used to love long drives, found them meditative.
Lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
walk one more step 10/30, 60 g protein 12/30, rx/vits 11.5/30, meditate 4/30, knee exercises 4/30, SWSY 0/30, play with Tumble 9/30, hang up or purge art 0/4 AF 8/30.
Word for 2019: "GOOD" good attitude, good food, good times, good choices, good enough, feel good, GOOD!

Rita, Your weight loss is awesome.
Barbara , so sorry to hear about all of Scooter's problems.
My adventure for today is washing sheets and the mattress cover after Bernie threw up on the bed. Pets bring us so many opportunities for spiritual growth.

Margaret, I’m new to this site, read your story from the April 10th post. Please see an attorney before you take any further actions. I’m not in your country, but you have very strong disability laws in the US and probably also have a civil action for negligence against the 👮♀️. Your lawyer will explain this all when you give her/him the facts. Try not to write any letters, emails before you see a lawyer, you do not want these materials being used against your case. Finally, make sure you are taking extra special care of yourself (which I think you are doing, Brava!). This will be really stressful for a long time; the legal system can be very slow and frustrating. If you don’t take care of yourself first, you won’t be able to help him. Good luck, us gals over 50 are resilient and strong!🌸🌹🌷🌈6

Driving to drop off son at airport. Flying tomorrow morning to San Diego. He is spending tonight at the USO area, sleeping in the lounge chairs they have there. It is easier on us than getting up at 3 am for the drive👍 . They will store his gear, and feed him, so leas stress. Stopping off at Fred Meyer on the way home to try to find moustache wax for husband!

Rita You seriously look fabulous.
Barbara Poor Scooter!
My partner and I went to Europe December 2015 for a Christmas Market river cruise. The highlight of the 3 days we spent in Paris was our Notre Dame Cathedral visit. We hired a private guide and stayed for hours. It was on my partner's bucket list, so we wanted to do it right. There were lots of people there praying because it was just 2 weeks after the Paris terrorist attacks.
I went all the way to the top by myself, and that's where these photos were taken. Needless to say, we are very sad.11 -
Did one segment of the Daily Yoga DVD then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Belly Fat DVD.
Lisa – right now I’m hand quilting a lap quilt but I’m not using any sort of stand (way to keep the material tight). I’m free hand quilting. I just think it’ll give the piece more definition (plus, it’s easier for me)
Viv – I, too, had a bad weekend. Now I’m paying for it. My stomach is feeling so “yuk”, I don’t even feel like having breakfast. I had ½ of a chocolate bran muffin mainly just to get something in my stomach. Now I’m having tea
Allie – Shortly after my father died we had a bad storm. Someone told my daughter that that was God’s way of letting her know that my father made it to heaven. I thought that was such a sweet thing to tell someone.
Katla – my sincere sympathies
Rita – va va va voom!
As we were coming out of bowling, Jess called to tell us about ND. What a terrible thing to happen. Went to ceramics, picked up my frog and Winne the Pool. I’ll post pics tomorrow when the frog is complete.
