Heather - enjoy your time with Edie. I really could learn a lot about financial management, I don’t have any savings at all and this is a concern at my age.
Lisa - I suffer from sinus headaches frequently they sure are a showstopper. I love learning too and do it much better out of a classroom setting. I am purposely looking for positions that are out of the security Industry as I feel I have learned all I can there. Have a safe trip.
Okie - Glad you didn’t have a tornado. Have you experienced many in your life? Weather fascinated me, but I’m very fearful of it.
Kimberly Shaw - you have done very well and sounds like you are dedicated.
I have to go meet my other career counsellor today and then I think I’ll go dry a load of towels at the laundromat. I don’t mind my clothes hanging on the rack to dry, but I don’t like how scratchy the towels get.
I am still waiting to hear back from the other company about an interview time, but I have received about a dozen links from Sarah to start learning.

Heather ~ I loved the pic of you in the long brown hair. That color really looked good on you. I have darkened my blonde hair back to brown. I can't decide if I look older with the dark color or should go back to the blonde. I think what I probably need is a good haircut as my hair has grown longer and looks quite stringy.

Carol - I like the brown too, but it requires much more upkeep as I am really grey/white now. I can get away with blonde for around 10 weeks.

Tracey--I got so upset having the TV up so DH could hear. I had him turn on the closed capition and now we both can enjoy it. Sending prayers for the job, sounds interesting and never boring.

Found out today our wellness plan gives us a free week and 3 of the fitness centers here in town. So printed off the paper and planning to check it out. I have to do something to get moving.

Hi you all. I am Marianne from Norway (and parts of the year Canada) and new to MyFitnessPal and all the communities here. After getting a full knee replacement October 2018 I have struggled back onto my own two feet again, but have gained 12 extra kilos the last 2 years not being able to move about as normal. My knee is still far from being its old good self, but I am able to exercise - and that is great! If you have room for a 53 yo 'bionicwoman' I would love to join you.

HI all, I just stumbled upon this group and hope to become an active member. I have been going to WW to support my hubby ( I am a lifetime member) but now that he is back in the gym we have decided that it was not working for us to hit our goals. I teach Zumba Gold 7 times a week and live successfully with Fibromyalgia. We have four kids ranging 17 to 23. We are each looking to maintain the good habits we began, but figure out how to adjust for our calorie burning created with our exercise. Does anyone use a tracker and plug it into the MFP app? Does it help you to figure out what your calorie burn is? Do you use the extra calorie count in your day or do you just ignore it and let it be a deficit? I am struggling with a plateau even though I know I am building muscle while I burn calories. TIA for you thoughts! Stephanie - Welcome! I have been at maintenance for over 5 years now and it's still a matter of experimentation as to how much exercise I log. I have been eating a bit more freely recently and my weight has crept up by a couple of pounds. What tends to work for me is if I log the exercise I do routinely, which amounts to 600 a day, and eat all, or most, of that back, then do some extra exercise in the afternoon, like a run, or a walk, or dancing, and not log it or eat it back. I am going to be 70 in October and I find I have to leave a little bit of exercise uneaten or I gain. I am keeping my base point at 1200. So, it means I normally eat around 1800 a day, although recently it has been a bit more, hence the creep upwards.
I love my food, so I have to exercise like a crazy woman to maintain.
We had such a wonderful time with Edie today. Knackered though. My cold is still blocking me up. Hate not being able to breathe through my nose at night. My York friend, who also has the cold, has cancelled travelling down south because she feels so rotten.
We ended up getting Indian takeaway delivery tonight. Tandoori chicken tikka , cauliflower, lentils, salad , one naan between us. We basically ordered one person's dinner and it was plenty for the two of us. DH really likes this , which is a great relief on a weary night and it's not expensive, just having the single dinner. I only had a corner of the naan.
DH has a one day cricket match tomorrow, so I'll be on my own. The weather is heating up!

Did a Slim in Six DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to use a rowing machine.
Tracey – the problem with glue is that it’s permanent. We will need to take the stake out of his hand to store it in the winter. I don’t have a problem with the diamond dotz as far as seeing them. I do like to have good lighting since the markings of where you are to put the diamonds is small

Yesterday (Wednesday) I had to face the fact that my Dad is approaching a downward turn. He'll be 93 in July. He's slowed down more this year - not walking as much as he was - and not eating as heartily as he did. (He loves food and always orders a second dinner to eat later at night.) His residential facility recommends (and we agree) we start a new level of care - palliative. And - even though I knew it was coming - it certainly hit me hard. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry and I did some. But, I don't want to spiral down. There'll be a time to grieve. But, now it's time for living and appreciating life.
• Overall Feeling: Emotional. Depressed. Not a good afternoon or evening.
• Exercise: None. 762 total steps.
• Eating deadline. Up late into the night.
• Bedtime-Sleep Hygiene. None. Fell asleep about 5:30am.
• Bright Spot today: I've thought hard about it and I can't find a bright spot yesterday - perhaps the way my dear husband expressed his concern for how I was feeling. It was endearing. Or, perhaps discovering where the hens are laying their eggs. In the goat pen!
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. The memory care residential facility where my dad lives. They are truly a caring place.
2. My niece (a nurse practitioner) for taking time from her busy day to follow-up and check on my Dad - her grandfather.
3. The love, support and partnership of my sweet husband.
4. Being able to enjoy both of my parents - both age 92.
5. The thunderstorm that came through in the early hours of the morning. I pray no damage for anyone. It helped me get to sleep. And I hope it swept away some pollen in the air.

Stephanie, I lost over 50 pounds with the help of MFP and the women on this thread. I have maintained that loss for several years. At first I didn't eat my exercise calories until the day that I came back from a two hour walk feeling dizzy and faint and a healthy snack made me feel better. I am much more active than most people and if I didn't eat more than others, I wouldn't have the energy to do what I do. Depending on how active I am, I eat 1800-2000 calories a day. When I was recovering from a back injury and spent a lot of time lying down, I kept my calories between 1200 and 1400. I have a pedometer that doesn't sync with MFP but counting steps is motivating to me. I hope you will keep coming back.

I’m caught up with reading. Carol, I’m glad to see that your knee surgery went well.

Many years ago, I read the book "The Wealthy Barber". A main theme in the book is to "save 10 per cent of all that you earn and invest it for long-term growth."
There have been times when I haven't been able to do 10%, but I've tried to take even just 1% and put it into a separate savings account as a matter of habit, and more when I could.
In the beginning it was challenging because my husband back then would go into that account periodically and clean it out because he firmly believed and often quoted "You have to spend money to make money" ... but he never defined what a person had to spend money on in order to make money, so he'd usually spend it on fast food.
I ended up setting up my own private savings account.
Fortunately my current husband also has a saving mindset. We were able to quit our jobs and travel around the world for 8 months because we had lived on his salary and put mine into savings for 3 years.
We also like to keep our debt low. We rent, so there's always that, but credit card debt etc. gets paid off regularly and as quickly as we can.

Hi Gals,
Busy day, lots of embroidery and gardening, but the big thing was my car is in the shop… GRRR! Every “dumb-ie” light on the dash went on, then off after a while, it said all 4 tires were flat and the catalytic converter died all while sitting at a stop light… well you know that was wrong, but also not a good sign. So it’s in the shop and I am going to make it without a car tomorrow… I have a market within easy walking distance, I am supposed to go off for Easter brunch so hope it is fixed by tomorrow pm. I do need to shop for the items to make my part of the potluck brunch.
I think I told you that the camp gardening job is transitioning to a new company so I will not lose my job just get a check from a different organization. My direct manager is moving over too, I am glad about that. I am getting a 27 cent an hour raise which is pretty bad, but it’s a big improvement over the 4 cent an hour raise I got last year. And really with the meals and veggie “extras” I can bring home there is more value than just the paycheck. Now I have to get a bunch of stuff growing as I did not start as many seeds early since I did not know if I would be there or not.

• Bright Spot today: A long FaceTime chat with my older brother tonight. I felt a lot better afterwards.
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. My brother. My whole life he's been my big brother. The one I looked to for his wisdom. He's the best. I'm 61 and still need my big brother. ❤
2. Grilled squash and steamed cabbage. I love it. It nourishes my body.
3. Bold black ink FUDE pens. Smooth medium blue ink Bic pens. Warm yellow hi-liters. And white Uniball Signo paint marker pens. Makes journaling my thoughts and feelings a simple and enjoyable process.
4. My 30oz insulated drink cup. It helps me stay hydrated.

Beth and Lanette and all who expressed concern, delighted to report that Scooter's recovery continues. It seems little short of miraculous to us. Ears and tail high, eyes bright, nose shining, champion p and pooper, he even sneaked up the stairs by himself twice.
Tracey two upcoming interviews? Hooray! And a snap of the fingers to that discouraging career counselor. Take THAT!

Katla Why is she so very angry? Was the work party short handed? Are there skills that only you possess? What happened when you told her that your DH had a bad spell, that he has to come first and that you were sorry you couldn’t attend? If she's a real friend, she'll understand that your DH is your priority. It's not like you were trying to shirk the work. Barbie's "be prepared for her to stay angry" insight may be spot on.

Welcome Stephanie, I use a Wahoo HRM, and it's app on my iphone links with Apple's health app, and from there it feeds into mfp. Most of the gals here eat back some but not all of their exercise calories. Brava for teaching Zumba despite your fibromyalgic pain.

Morning, afternoon and evening all,
Up far too early, but that's hotels for me, the first night is always fairly sleepless, and since these days it's only for one night, it's just a sleepless night, no biggie.
Took the Clifton StrengthsFinder yesterday, something my organization asks everyone to do. Four of my top five landed as strategic strengths, and one as a relationship strength--basically, that I develop individual relationships, and get to know each person I work with and care about individually. None came as a surprise--the benefit of the self-analysis that I've put myself through the last couple years. It feels as if I've finally drawn that to its natural end. I think we all need to know ourselves, but I also think we can dive so deeply into that analysis that we stop looking outside ourselves. I'd gotten to that point, I think. I'm more aware of my motivations for most things, and much more aware of what I want for my home, my marriage, my job and my life overall. Time to live all these things instead of think about them. And, as Barbie always says, stop trading what I want at the moment for what I want most.
A breath of fresh air, that is. Speaking of which, the rain has passed, finally... should be clear sailing on the way home. Right now, meetings will be taking place the moment my presentation has been completed and the room cleared... I've got to pick up some coffee cups on the way in, and have a guest badge so I can get in early. All the details in place, just going to do something relaxing for the next hour until I jump in the shower. After I call the hubby about 5 a.m., I'll go do the minor shopping that needs to be done for the presentation, and then go get everything set up.

Sunny day here for Good Friday, still quite a cold wind though. I wouldn't mind going to the sea side this week end but as it is Easter the roads will be very busy with everyone in "holiday mode" , so might leave it a few weeks.
I went to see Sound of Music last night at the Grand Opera House, the singing was beautiful (like being in church) the children were very talented, they remembered all the movements for the songs and didn't put a foot wrong. It was a lovely night.
Not much planned for today, the usual tidy up etc. I might ask DS to take me to a garden centre to see if I can get some plants for the garden. We've had part of the front garden tarmaced to extend the driveway so DS and DD can get their cars off the street. It doesn't look good though, wish I'd held out and saved a bit more for either paving or the blocked brickwork drives, but it's done now. I'd like to add some plants or get some nice pots to put near the doorway and under the window to brighten it up a bit.
I also need to pop over with dad's newspaper some time this morning and check on them both. Dad is looking very frail now, he's not eating or drinking much, I'm surprised he can still stand and get out of bed to use the bathroom, but so far he is managing.
Better get a move on, I didn't exercise yesterday, so definitely need to do some today.

Good Morning ladies~ we used to have Good Friday off.. but the almighty dollar takes precidense(sp) for the good Drs.Anyway will go feed my DFIL dont have to walk the boys today as Elena has the day off from work.
Tom safely got down to Florida and will be there for a week, closing it up for the summer.. even though he wasn't a fantastic husband.he is a hard worker like his father was..
Well until they get someone else in I will be back working Saterdays boo... but alas its a job and he is upping my hours until they find someone.. and then even though I have been there longer he will cut my hours again..
Like I said though everything happens for a reason and I believe that.. so for now I do what is needed ,and that is feeding my DFIL..he is basically down to eating one meal a day.. and not drinking much, sleeping all the time.such a sad quality of life...
tomorrow is supposed to be really rainy but taking my DGD to my friends house to color Easter eggs and which means I have to pick up some eggs tonight and hard boil them...and then she does an easter egg hunt for the kids..and the teenagers get into it too..
then home will feed DFIL in and and at Dinner then Easter Sunday will feed him all 3 meals , will end up having Easter dinner with him... hopefully something Keto friendly
