Anne PNW ~ WA
I’ve been away for a long time. I cared for my dad who has passed. I’ve been helping mom. I cared for my brother who has passed. I help my daughter and grandchildren. Umm when did I stop taking care of me? I’m home now and had surgery in April which has been a fail. I can’t find any part of my body that isn’t sick/injured. I gained back to my original weight. So good news...when at rock bottom it’s all uphill from here. So I announced its me time! Oh boy.
July goals are to stand firm on taking care of me. Oh part of this is my service dog was just diagnosed with an inoperable tumor. 😢 I am eating healthy. But due to physical limitations I can walk and exercise very little. I am on 5 medications all that have a side effect of weight gain. Grrr I told the doctors no to weight loss surgery. I can and will get healthy. I am happy to find a place to just be. Another goal is to sleep at least 6 hours each night. Phew that’s a lot!12 -
Anne PNW, you have made the first steps in the right direction--eating healthy and connecting with the women on this thread. Among us we have bunches of health challenges and family members to care for. You will find lots of people walking a similar path with great ideas about how to navigate the journey.

Did Leslie Sansone Walk Away Your Waistline DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of 10 Minute Solution Slim & Sculpt Pilates DVD then take the extremepump class
Went to WalMart, prepared dinner so I just have to microwave it then into the pool I went (isn’t that a surprise??).
Heather – 1 cup of brown rice to 1 cup of water then turn on the IP like the recipe tells you to?
Jac – welcome! Happy belated birthday
Vince just said that by Denise it’s 98 and feels like 111. She’s even hotter than we are! At least we don’t have the humidity.
Geri – I’m so sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis
Ev – lovely blanket
Amber – good for JR (not so good for you)
In honor of National Ice Cream day guess what Vince is having for dessert????
Lisa – at one time weren’t you on Chantrix? If so, how’s it going?

I’m new to this group. I was hoping to meet other ladies over 50 who have a few pounds to loose. I’ve been very diligent in the past with my diet and exercise plan and didn't loose anything! When I look at pictures of the group, I am Wondering if I am in the right place you ladies look great!8

Souchie- Nice to have you in the right place unless you want a group with photoshop selfies of them hanging off a cliff. If I tried that I’d never climb up thanks to my gut lol 😂
All new comers -Welcome

I'm 52 and just saw this group. I only really look sporadically at group posts, but I'd welcome friend requests from other ladies. I'm in Arizona, I work in a hospital lab, love tribal fusion belly dancing, have a husband, two grown kids (no grandkids), and three cats (maybe four very soon).
I started this on June 7 and I've lost 8 pounds so far. I'm motivated by a desire to have my clothes fit better, have smoother curves (as opposed to lumpy/bumpy), and have less pain in my back and knees. My tendency to obsess over numbers makes food logging an effective way to attain my goals! lol11 -
Dear 50 and fabulous women, I am looking for a few 50 ish my fitness pal friends for shared motivation. Last summer I had surgery on both my feet (bunions ) and am now working to get back in the swing of fitness and healthy eating. My most challenging issues are: desk job, motivation, wine and time. What are yours?6

I have many MFP friends but I primarily communicate on this thread. I love reading what is going on in everyone's life and how they are walking through the challenges and still keeping to healthy food and exercise. I found MFP and this thread after a lifetime of failed attempts to keep my weight in check. This is the only thing that has worked for me. I read the posts on this thread every morning while I eat my breakfast. I eat exactly the same breakfast every day so I don't have to start thinking about food first thing in the morning. I read the thread usually once more during the day and frequently respond. It has been a plan that has helped me stay on track.

Lisa "...this thread is what the internet was supposed to be..." right to the heart.
Been skimmin' like Rita and Kim, 40+ pages after a couple weeks' absence. That'll teach me!
Julie oh yeah, a wee dram is a little drink of scotch whisky. For me it's barely more than a sip, but most would consider an ounce to be a minimum.
Rori loved hearing about the bright spots in your happy pool place.
SueBDew belated best birthday wishes and WOW you sure don't look 80. Especially liked the pic of you with your daughter.
Beth belated birthday wishes. Sending and hopeful energy that this month will be better.
Tracey likewise congratulations on getting through your daughter's wedding and lovely pics. Mother's first kiss. (sniffle). Where are the bouncy house pics?
Rebecca ditto the comments, you just don't have any idea how truly lovely you are. Just look at Athena, her apple didn't fall far from your tree.
pip belated happy birthday to Kirby!
KJ belated happy anniversary wishes. Been there too, believe solo celebrations are still celebrations. Please let me know when you have an opening for a 69 yr old kid.
Julie would trying to change your thesis director make you feel better? If things fall apart with your current one, at least you'd be on record for trying to find alternatives. You are so observant, concerned and compassionate toward your colleague who's in such a hard place. It's painful but there is so little you can do to change his mindset.
Allie, Did you know that Henry Ford couldn't spell worth a tinker's dam? But then he didn't have to fill out job applications either.
Lanette, the bears and the garbage, ah, well... last time Joe only sprayed one of the bags with bear spray, tried hornet spray on the other. Bear tore into garbage can AGAIN, dragged both bags out, left the bear sprayed bag intact and spread the hornet sprayed one all around. Joe is tired of the claw and tooth damage to the can so has stopped strapping it closed. Let the bear get in and be durned. Then Joe got some bear spray on his face and in his eye. Plan C is that I now put any kitchen waste into non-recycleable plastic dog food and cottage cheese containers, put yesterday's filled container into a discreet brown paper lunch bag and donated it to various trash cans around town. This is a misdemeanor (theft of services) but short of freezing all our garbage for a semimonthly trip to the dump in California we don't know what else to do. Why go to California? The Curry County transfer station rates nearly doubled this year from last to $54 for a small trailer load of mixed stuff and greenstuff. Staffer knocked it down to $45 when Joe sorted out the greenstuff for their compost. Roughly the same amount of stuff (no greenstuff) to the California transfer station cost less than a third as much. Well worth the gas and time. So now very little goes in the can. Coffee grounds, paper towels, non-recyclable plastics that are not sealable containers. Pfaugh. I'm hopeful that after a few weeks of no goodies/reward, all the bears will move on down the hill where the pickings are easier. They seem to be headed that way if the trail of overturned trash cans is any indicator. But I really can't be too mad, the Chetco Bar Fire of 2018 cauterized a quarter of a million acres and two years later NOTHING is growing back.
Michele ((hugs)) for that Bryan-sized hole in your heart.
Heather love the image of the Messianic mat.
Katla healing hopes sent for Arrow.
Connie no apologies needed. Even those of us who spell well, or are particular about our grammar, make mistakes. This is a friendly forum. I reserve my nitpicking for formal communications and public broadcasts Con VERY grats on 59.8 lbs. VERY well done!
Lisa can you add "Cristy" to your spellcheck's "dictionary"?
Love all the spellcheck, grammar, autocorrect and sign stories, thank you all!
Welcome to all the newbies who've joined in the past 40 pages!
Only through page 44 of 72, but I've been sitting way too long. Will catch up more tomorrow.
Lighter, lovelies!

You fit right in with group! We are at various phases of weight loss and maintenance. I was down almost 60 lbs, but I gained about 5 back with my recent bout of gout. It hurt too much to go to the gym. I have a minimum of 40 more pounds to go, but I really need to dump another 60.
Welcome to the group! You’ll get to know us over time. Just let us know what name you would like to be called and maybe a general area where you are from.

I work in hospital lab too! Well, I did until I decide I wanted to teach in an MLT program. Congrats on the first 8 pounds and welcome to the group!!

Welcome aboard!! I struggle with primarily a desk job and time. I’m still raising a non-driving aged teen so I’m still playing chauffeur!!

Barbara - I am so incredibly happy to see you back! There are a couple of bouncy house pics that the photographer took, I have seen them but I have promised not to share on any social media until after my daughter does, which she says is going to be tonight. I do have one from my husband's phone though I'll share it.0

I went back to the gym tonight. I couldn’t go my usual pace on the treadmill, but I gave it a good 5 minute warm up before doing some lifting. After weights I hit the recumbent bike without issue. I tried the arc trainer, and I think it will work too until the soreness and stiffness goes away!
I’m so happy to be back in the gym!!

Kaitlyn and I took Jonah to see Toy Story 4 tonight. I don't know where the years have gone, Kaitlyn was probably 4 when I saw the first Toy Story. I babysat my cousin's kids and she bought it the day it was released to VHS for the kids to watch that day. The kids and I watched it twice, when Jonah was young it was the only movie he would watch and he still plays with his Woody and Buzz.
It was so nice to take him and enjoy the movie with him.

Haircut: Asymetrical with an undercut with chevron design shaved into it. You know how when you go to get your hair cut, you feel pretty/beautiful? I got this cut and as soon as she gave me the undercut it was like I got an injection of "superpowers". Some cuts have made me feel pretty; this one makes me feel STRONG! I LOVE that feeling. Also, this is my first selfie ever. lol In my mind, taking a selfie is right up there with trying on bathing suits. Not my favorite thing. KJ
You look great!
