Caught up again. Took my puppy to the groomer for the first time and he looks beautiful. Such long eye lashes.
Barbara - so glad you are back. You always respond to everyone in a caring way.
Worked in my weeds this morning but stayed too long and got a headache. I hope to finish this big bed this week.
Stay cool everyone and drink lots of water.

I know I'm late to the game but can I please be added to this group. I'm new on here, from UK and have just turned 50 😁8

HI everyone. I certainly did not intend to be gone for a few days! The time just all blurs together.
After that punishing heat last week, we have had several beautiful days here. It's gorgeous again today. Even this weekend, when it's supposed to be 90 will have less humidity and be nice. Yeah! Love being outside when it's like this.
Someone (a few days back LOL) asked if all my shoes still fit and if I have a shoe closet. Yes and yes! I take good care of them all and take them to be reconditioned every couple of years, depending on how often I wear them. So they all still look nice. I do have a shoe closet! It used to be the shoe and bra closet, but alas, the bras had to move...no room for them!
Well I am on the move, so will sign out.
Dawn: welcome aboard!
Take care, Meg from Omaha7 -

The Dr says my hip problem is a sprain, so it's fixable with physical therapy. Yay! Should be much better in four weeks or so.7

My at home gym nice set up with a air condition garage....one over site ....it’s not baby proofed at all y when you go in JR tries to put his finger in the door 🚪 !!! I got my finger tip cut off when it slammed but got his out .Doctor thought I was stupid not to let his finger get cut off instead of mine. If looks could kill mine would have knocked him 10ft under. He smartly left the room. luckily only left a faint scar near the top of my finger where the part that fell off regrew. Our family rule now is to go into the garage 1.someone watches JR if he doesn’t cry the person free !! Wheeeee 2. One person holds JR when groceries come in (that’s when it happened we used to come in through the garage) 3. To be in the garage with JR 2 people to catch him before he grabs anything all over! Trued lifting weights in the house the small one recently well he picked a tiny one chunked it!!! My poor tile floor! Luckily the 5lb weight got that floor good! We cover it with padding y rugs now. The garage where gardening tools to tiki lighter fluid is.
My Daughter was the sit next to you while you exercised could use her as a weight even. JR too heavy to lift without hurting something y well not a good exercise buddy unless you walk in a circle ⭕️ jumping over him y his obstacle course. She also was like a little duck 🦆 following right behind any where you go.JR darts at traffic yelling CAR!!! Shows you 1st kid y last are never alike.
Another exercise I do with him is play soccer ⚽️ he loves soccer 🥅

Hi
I am new to MFP today.
Looking for some motivation & saw this thread. I'm early 50s & now struggling to loose weight which crept on over last 2.5 years despite not being 'that' bad. Definitely need encouragement from those who "get it". I want to loose about 3-4stone!
Thanks.8 -

Dawn, It is never too later to join the game. I found MFP and this thread at age 62 and it has changed my life. I took baby steps in learning good foods to eat that would satisfy me and keep the calories down. I sought every opportunity to be active and found things to do that I would do repeatedly. Now I walk my dogs for about two hours every day (when I started it was about 15 minutes), go to two line dance classes each week, and ride my exercise bike while watch TV with my husband. I have lately been watching TV shows set in the UK.

This is a great place to get motivation. I read this thread every morning while I eat my breakfast so I have encouraging thoughts as I leave the house to walk my dogs. I hope you will keep coming back.

Lanette, The programme I'm watching that is police detectives in Wales is "Hinterland". It is on Netflix. The other shows I'm watching are on Amazon Prime.
Amber, your son sounds like a great delight and a great challenge. Since he is an active boy, I'm sure you'll figure out ways that the two of you can be active together.
Annie, good luck with the physical therapy.
Barbara, I'm glad you are back. Your posts are so much fun to read.
This morning when I got home from my very long walk with Sasha, I discovered that hat had fallen out of my pocket. It was cold when I went out and super warm by the time I got home. I went right out without the dog and retraced my steps and met up with some people who asked if I had lost my black hat because they had just found one and hung it on a tree branch along the path. I was so happy to find it.

Barbie NW- True Lol in the mean time he has decided the stupid fence post by the door is something to push things y himself through. Sigh* tired of unsticking stuff today. Putting a tent in front of it to discourage his new found habit. He’s also blocking the door with balls ⚽️ so Daddy can’t leave when he did go to work JR put more to keep me in.He found time to block my walking path so obstacle course time lol
My weight going down but finally all my measurements did too! Not by a lot but I’ll take every inch it gives!

I am here! Recovering from my 24 hours of fun with my sister, who is visiting from Florida! The ELO concert was FANTASTIC!! They sound really great live! Some bands sound so different from their recordings; but ELO knocks it out of the park! And the light show was AWESOME!!! My older sis is staying at her friend's condo in downtown Grand Rapids, they both are from Grand Rapids and saw no one they knew at the event. I walked in and within five minutes saw a friend of mine and before the night was over saw five more people from Grand Haven. lol We stopped at a tapas restaurant before the concert and had a drink and shared four tapas plates. It sounds like a lot of food, but we each got one and a third stuffed button mushroom, one and 1/3 little lamb chop (about two bites of meat per chop), three slices of bruschetta (about 1/2 inch thickness and 1 1/2 " diameter), and 1 1/3 marscapone stuffed dates. All prepared wonderfully and of course the company was superb! Then the concert (lots of singing and dancing going on) I drank just water during the concert. Then back to Tami's place where we had a pajama party and split a 6" pizza (1/4 of a pizza per person as Tami's husband Bill was there). My sister Shannon brought out matching pajamas for us girls! lol We were up until about 1:30-2:00am; then I was up as soon as the sun hit my eyes (6am) Couldn't get back to sleep; so just got up, got some coffee going and relaxed on their balcony to watch the sun come up. Tami has a HUGE pot of herbs on her balcony, so I sat, drank coffee and ran my hands through her rosemary and basil and just smelled the wonderfulness of it all. The girls got up at 8(Tami) and 9(sister, Shannon) and Tami and I made a brunch. She added garlic, maple syrup, and pepper to some bacon and baked it. I made some guacamole and four basted eggs while she toasted the toast and made some bloody marys . So...it went together like this: toast, guac, bacon, egg, chopped tomato with a bit of marscapone. Plus a well garnished bloody mary. I am telling you! I was in grown up heaven! AFter brunch, Bill took a nap and we girls put our walking clothes on and walked the downtown mall area and window shopped and visited the art museum (lots of walking and stairs). Then we stopped at a little pub where they have a Ran Ortner painting hanging (Open Water) and had drink and a charcuterie/cheese plate (split four ways because Bill joined us here). So...that has been my day. I got home and Tim is asleep. I am making some chicken pasta salad for him, then going to bed. I am going to have to get into the "recipe" section of the menu and try to add in my restaurant food.
I weighed in on Sunday; so I am not going to weigh myself until Sunday or Monday (that will give me time to work off this past 24 hours)! I have never laughed so much or so hard as I have today/last night. Feels so good. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)10 -
It’s been 1 year since I got serious about taking the weight off. After being diagnosed last year with Type 2 diabetes, I knew monitoring what I eat, following a good eating plan and getting more exercise would be key. I have now lost 30 pounds. It comes off slowly, but I continue to drop each month. It has been a lifestyle change. No more wacky diets. No more starving myself. I eat primarily a plant based diet, with lean meats and dairy. I limit grains. One thing I consistently do is monitor by blood sugar. That has been a big help for me to see how my body responds to different foods. Grains spike my blood sugar a lot. So, I avoid them as much as possible. I am feeling so happy to see results too. I have a plan that works for me. I don’t lose as much as I would like or as quickly but I am seeing results. Now 9 years after I started mfp I am nearly back to my original starting weight. I struggled for years of trying to lose and kept gaining instead. Now the results have been a downhill slide for the last year. 58 and feeling great!12
