Mitch and I have 1 medium sized moving box with our combined childhood/school days mementos. I have been on a downsizing/minimizing kick for a bit and have successfully gotten to the point (well almost) of only having in our lives what we love/need. It's hard but seeing what i went through with my parents in helping them downsize for 2 weeks last summer I realized I did not want my kids to have to do that. We threw away just about everything! Mind you my mom had 5 of us and was also a pack rat but we filled 8 Haul Your Junk Away trucks! Any how I think I might have some "important" English papers I wrote and was proud of hanging around!
My son keeps nothing. Good for him. My daughter keeps everything. For each of them growing up i kept 3 inch ring binders in which all their academic stuff went. They each got a small plastic storage box with school stuff I kept for them. When we moved this last time we had delivered to their homes their boxes. Now they can decide what to do. As a matter of fact Ben opened a storage box the other day and sent me a pick of his favorite stuffed animal I had saved. Heartwarming his excitement over finding it again at 28 yo while in search for something else.
For the first time since March 12 (when I flew to Virginia and moved in with my 30yo daughter to help her with ankle surgery and selling her home to move here) I will be an empty nester again tomorrow morning!!!! She starts her new job. I cannot wait for the "alone" time no demands on you feeling !!! Love her and all but she is a handful with her "issues" and put her living in same house as hubs....well....I deserve some alone time right about now.
Coffee drinking came later in life for me however I always enjoyed coffee flavored ice cream. No I don't start my day without a cup. Love the warmth and flavor.
Have a good week my friends.
Still in the 100s around these parts. I hate the heat!!

Yes another food JR will eat!!! Granola Nature valley in a bag. Honey y oats clusters of them. He’s munching away! Gives me an idea where to go next with food tries! Granola bars!
Tried Bryers 70cal fudge bar so creamy yum. Made granola 1oz with Godiva chocolate 2tiny bars pieces (6bars pieces out of the big bar is a serving 220cal so 2 is 1/3rd the calories. I placed them in tiny snack baggies for cal portions control.

Michele I have used that too. Borax and powdered sugar.1
-
Michele - I'm not sure if the borax/sugar combo works with red ants, the ants I was using it on was little bitty black ants. Nicknamed "sugar ants" lol. I think all ants like sugar so I bet it's worth a try.
Lisa - thanks to your sad experience, I rearranged my purse today and cleaned out the extra cards and things I don't often use.
Katla - if I baked, I'd try Stevia. But I don't bake anymore, and I've conditioned myself to avoid sugar and sweet tastes in the food I prepare. DH eats THREE Oreo thin cookies per day. That's it. Men, lol. Sadly, when I fall off the wagon, I prefer my sugar in a Reese's or Snickers wrapper.
I've been hungry for Alfredo - found that packaged Alfredo sauce is full of fat, a little protein, and not many carbs. I have diced turkey and chicken in the freezer so am looking forward to a little dish of that for supper each week in addition to my salad. Low carb gourmet right there!
Terri - I have copies of resumes and applications on a thumb drive if I ever want to walk down memory lane, lol. But I had file folders 8 inches high with all of those work related papers - good riddance. It was quite freeing to realize I'd never again be on the prowl for a job, having worked pretty steadily since age 16!
Have a great week, ladies!

Michele - we used the borax sugar combo on a variety of ants we had outside. We put it on the grass and on some ant hills. It helped a lot! Didn’t get them all because it was such a rainy summer but I bet if it had been dry we would have gotten them.4

Realized today men start life with their egos lol. Found this text JR tried to send his Doctors (At least I hope it didn’t go through their young so who knows). He wrote “Has It”. Lol to a 2yr old girl maybe but doubt the Doc agrees lol 😂. Hubby just said must be the Hispanic in him lol (Spanish are known to be suave) lol Amber Tx3

What, if anything, do you keep from your university/college courses?
Notes? Assignments? Lecture pdfs? ?????
I suggest that my students keep their lecture notes until they pass their certification exam. Some students just download my PowerPoints from BlackBoard to a flash drive. Others print them in outline format.
I did the same thing when I was working on my masters degree, especially since some of my subjects were two semester courses.

For those who are following low carb or keto way of eating a bread substitute called a “chaffle” - cheese and egg waffle is sweeping through social media. I have made them and used them for a keto version of a McGriddle.

I went to my first Launch today.
Our local brain injury association was launching Brain Injury Awareness Week today. Along with that, the association was introducing some new resources for families and sufferers of brain injury. A collection of short videos was one set of resources and I was involved with one of those videos.
The video is entitled "In the Hospital" and I talk about brain injury from the perspective of a family member ... which, of course, I am.
I think the video(s) might be officially released on Wednesday.
My husband and I both went to the launch and it was good. We reconnected with many people we've met along the way over the past 17 months.
It sounds like there may be more opportunities to be involved in coming months as well. As you may have guessed, over the past 17 months, brain injury and brain injury awareness is something that has become very important to me.
So ... that's a little extra bit I've been working on for the past couple months.

As we all know, the Woo reaction is a negative thing, essentially a polite way to say BS. However, some have been confused by it and have (we assume / we hope ... given the context) used it as a positive reaction, like "woo-hoo".
Thankfully, MFP's IT staff will be making a much-requested change and Woo will become Disagree ... much clearer!

Lisa, how awful about your wallet! How fortunate that you had all the info and were able to cancel your cards before too much damage was done. Nice that you were able to explain calmly to Corey just why you were so upset, and that he got it!
Rebecca, Athena certainly is a keeper!
Can't remember who it is that does the line dancing (Barbara? Barbie? - sorry!), but that was awfully rude of the person (or persons) who tried to push their political agenda in the line dancing group. Simply not the time or place for them to try and further their agenda, in my opinion.
Ants! Hate the darn things! Something else that will kill their trail is bleach, I've washed surfaces with bleachy water and it confuses the heck out of them. Also read somewhere that cornmeal works to get rid of them and have found that to work also. The thing I love about it is that if a pet or child gets into it, there are no side effects, but the ants will take it back to their nest and they are unable to digest it. I had the lid from a small plastic container under one of the cupboards in the kitchen in our old house (this cupboard did not sit directly on the floor as it was an add-in), one day when I was checking it I saw a very perfect kitty paw print in it! lol
Many, many more that I've wanted to comment on, but time has been on the short side lately, so while I've been reading and appropriately commiserating or cheering I have not had the time to actually do any replying.
Rode my bike to work on Thursday and on the way home encountered fairly quite strong winds, a gust from a crosswind almost blew me off the bike and then had head winds for about 3k, not fun-I was just absolutely knackered (thanks Heather, love that word!) by the time I got home. But on Saturday I decided to ride again anyway, told hubby Friday night that he might have to come and get me when I got off! lol I texted him shortly after I got to work to let him know that there was no way I would make it home if I had to ride the bike! Unfortunately, the bike really doesn't fit well in the car, so it's still at work. Fortunately I work at a storage facility and have a locker there, so the bike is safe and sound. I will be making hubby a massage app't soon and will just get him to drop me off at work and I'll ride home then.
Eating has been kind of hit and miss, had some great days, had some not so great ones too, but, baby steps!
That's it for me, hope everyone has a great day!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Tracey, so much joy in one place! Loved the video, love the couple.
clowe1028, thank you for the chaffle recipe!
My husband made something similar for me to substitute for pizza - mixed shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese, enough to cover the bottom of a small non-stick pan. Then fully cooked hamburger, and some pepperoni, then layered over it some more of the cheese mixture. After the bottom browned, he flipped it by sliding it out on a plate, and then cooked it on the other side. Pretty darn yummy. Of course, he ate half of it to test it!
Machka, so pleased that you're turning your last year and a half into something that can help others. Your strength and ability to make the best of any situation continues to be incredibly impressive.
Monday here for a better week to come... have to go see if I can get my license re-made this morning. Should be interesting. Hopefully not too much of an issue.
Love y'all,
Happy Monday!
