Have you been to see a doctor? I would highly recommend booking an appointment as soon as possible and telling her how you feel.

Hoping to get more active this weekend again ... the medication I was on for the spider bite was supposed to give me energy (that was a side effect), instead I just felt dizzy and blech by the time I got home from work.
It's done now and bite is fading.
I'm planning to spray the bedroom with bug spray on Saturday morning. We're going out for a couple hours so I figure that's a good time to do it. I don't like being there right after I've sprayed.
Machka in Oz
Turns out that the medication may have given me a little bit more energy. I was going to bed at about 1 am for the past 3 nights, and getting about 6:45 of sleep each night. Today is my first day off the medication and by about 3 pm, I was fighting sleep. I'm home now and ready to nap, but I'll stay up a bit. If I nap now, I won't sleep tonight.
And I want to work on my website.

Yep, this just sucks. I will call tomorrow.👍1 -
Beautiful blue sky this morning. I hope a run is in my near future but I think showers may be coming later.
Cooking an IP skinnytaste recipe for dinner which uses Polish sausage, sauerkraut, onion, apple, fresh cabbage and a bit of bacon. I chuck in some juniper berries and caraway. Use white vermouth.
We love it. I put a couple of new potatoes in for DH.

Exercise and BP: not sure about BP , but my heart rate drops back down fairly quickly after exercise. Certainly within minutes. And I can consciously drop it even more by doing slow deep breathing. My Fitbit records my heartbeat, and I monitor it while exercising. Fitbit also records whether your exercise is fat-burning, etc. Very useful.3

Good morning and TGIF, I’m feeling it this week but in a good way, had a productive busy week. I did skip the last 2 days on the treadmill however, I ate less. I’m back in maintenance weight. I definitely eat more calories when I get all my steps in
I have a three day weekend ahead which gives me a chance to deep clean and prep for hosting thanksgiving. The focus will be on gratitude and simplicity but also recognize how much I enjoy food, planning, prepping and leftovers. Somehow I forget to enjoy the actual meal, this year I will refocus when I feel anxious at that part.

Yvonne “...better than an hour on the sofa” Thanks! You're right!
Luci in WNC safe travels!
Viv thanks for the kitchen pics, fascinated by other countries appliances, that compact double oven and is that a water heater on the wall?
Michele those Tiger Lily colors will be so warming, just right for a mug of tea! Please let the Prolia peoplel know you're recovering from a reaction to the flu shot. They might want to postpone.
Barbie “...had to wash my dishes in the bathtub” me too in our first house for the months of kitchen reno. And the bathtub was in the basement. Thanks for the reminder to be grateful for my kitchen sink!
Margaret love the Magic Scrap strategy!
Amber congrats on the falling down undies, great NSV!

Quite a day.Joe's colonoscopy consult went ok after I kvetched to the receptionist TWICE about the long (30 min) wait. Neither of us had had breakfast so went to cafe and pigged out on French toast, linguica and tea with white sugar.Celebrated our new addition with a huge bottle of porter, two bowls of popcorn and 5 halloween candies, so way over calories and under protein. Will do better tomorrow.
We'd both seen a black shelter puppy picture in the paper, and Joe mentioned it so we went to the shelter to see. They were closed 'til noon.
At home, walked Tumble down the lane to the mailbox, off leash at first, then on leash as we got close to the pavement. She walked the best on leash she has since the miraculous day she passed the Canine Good Citizen test.
When we got back, Joe said "Are you ready to go back to the shelter?" I was. He'd said he never wanted another dog, but has been mentioning the possibility more than once lately. Every time I suggest a puppy he said he didn't want to go through the housetraining, chewing up phase. So we went to the shelter and saw three possibilities, a 2 yr old male medium sized lab mix, a 4 month old female pit mix (didn't look that pitty to me and was smallish too) and an 8-10? week old female half GSD/half big black whatever. After talking about it, Joe was interested in the male and I agreed. A compromise I could accept, I wanted a black male to bond with cheddar cheese at the chopping block, and this after all would be Joe's dog. We filled out the application for an overnight test stay, then learned we had to bring Tumble in for a meet and greet before they'd release the dog to us. So we drove back up the mountain, got her and drove back down into town.
Good idea. Tumble did NOT accept the dog. She barked at him and while he was calm and non-responsive she continued to bark and bark and bark and started lunging finally provoking the poor dog into responding. After about 10 minutes of this, I said to the volunteer “I don't think this is going to work” and he and Joe agreed. Joe was ready to give up, to leave, to wait for another male dog to be surrendered, but I stubbornly insisted we try with the shepherd mix pup.
Another miracle. Tumble sniffed her, didn't bark, let her sniff Tumble, growled once as a correction, but generally behaved in an accepting manner. Joe is glad, she'll be a big dog and that's one thing that was important to him. He also said she'll help him get out and be more active like the doctor wants. He may even bring her to dog group with Tumble and me soon as her vaccinations are complete. Her eyes have a little discharge, if it doesn't get any worse, will ask the shelter vet when she goes in on the 16th. But if it starts to change color, off to our vet she goes.
The dogs got along fine in the van on the way home and ok so far in the house, yard and bedroom. I keep the pup on leash while I'm moving around the house, we feed her in the crate, confine her to the master suite while we sleep, take her out 20 mins after feeding and every time one of us has to pee, to give her the idea that outside is where to do her business.
She growls and barks at herself in the mirror, chomps squeaky dollies, tries to tempt Tumble into playing, chews roots and sticks. She explores fearlessly until Tumble grumble/warns her off from getting too close or too rambunctious. She figured out how to jump up onto the couch and the bed almost instantly. It's all new to her, she'd never been outside of the shelter, not even to the grass out front. We don't like the name she came with but haven't seen enough of her personality yet to settle on a new name. . . so introducing “she who is soon to be named”
Lighter, lovelies!

Welcome Newbies to this wonderful supportive group of Ladies!
Pip Adorable picture of you and your doggy! I’m so impressed you would have been first place had you not waited for DH!! I so admire your racing! I used to run in my 20s and loved it. Some day I will find my “Runner’s World” picture (I call it that as I thought it should be a cover - I was so proud). My Daddy ran track and field so we were raised to run.
Michele I hope you are feeling better! My body didn’t like this year’s flu shot either. I don’t get them often, but with grand baby on the way, I thought I’d better be sure I was not going to make her sick! I hope you are okay having the other shot while the first one is bothering you!! Orange should be pretty in your cup. Will enjoy seeing the finished product!
Viv I am looking forward to seeing your new kitchen! I’m hoping ours will get remodeled this year. We have very little counter space and it contributes to my not cooking as much as I should. I am in the process of getting rid of a bunch of clutter so that will free up some space also.
Amber I love that DJHughes sugar free BBQ sauce! I use the Skinny Girl dressings most of the time, or the Ranch powder. (Also, I like the ranch sprinkled on chicken for baking.)
Machka Your veggies look so good! I hope one day we will grow some. I remember as a child pulling the veggies from the ground and eating them in the back yard. So delicious! Also, I think I will ask DH to help me plant an apple tree since NC has great apples. Would love to pick the apple right before eating!
Allie So sorry work has been so bad lately! I hope they either get proper staffing or you find something you are happier with. It is such a drag having so much stress at your job!
Annie Congratulations on another day without cookies!! Terrific success!
Going crazy as I will be seeing children, grandchildren and family in a few hours!!! So much happiness at the thought of all their smiling faces!! It is so hard for me to live so far away from family! Thank God for our youngest living nearby. It is 21 degrees F outside!!! We are definitely in the north!!
Hope everyone has as much fun this weekend as I am planning to have!!

My husband worked in apple and cherry orchards between 2005 and 2018 (when he had his accident) ... his preference was always apple.
He has taken a number of horticultural courses, including one where he did some grafting which resulted in a pair of apple trees.
This was an apple from last year ... cute, but too small to eat.
This year the trees have a whole lot of possible apples coming on!! Early days yet!

I am really sorry you're feeling so down and blue. There could be so many reasons why you are feeling the way you do which could be more than just your son. I am not a parent so I am in absolutely no position to say how you should or should not feel.
From a daughter's prospective my mother, G bless her soul, was one who allowed me the space to grow and it was the best thing she did for me. She was there when I needed her and understood when life got in the way. I was never pressured in to being on a schedule to contact her and that remained the case up until her death. But relationships between mothers and daughters are very different than mothers and sons.
You have been taking care of your children for a very long portion of your life and the adjustment must be very difficult. I have watched many of my friend's experiences. For some it's easier and for others it was very much like yours.
It is NOW time for you! There is nothing wrong with mothering yourself. What dreams did you give up before you became a full-time mother? Did you want to finish a degree, did you want to take art lessons, did you want to start a business?
You seem like you have a big heart and have much to give. Have you considered volunteering at a hospital? There is a huge need for compassionate people to volunteer within neonatal and/or children's wards. These children just need hugs and cuddling.
I am glad you are going to make an appointment today to see a doctor. It could be something as simple as a hormone imbalance or vitamin deficiency. If not therapy is never to be underrated, nor is participating in a support group (there has to be one for service parents).
Big cyber-hug to you.5 -

Hi OregonMom! My son lives out there and I LOVE it! Visiting in a few months [again] and cannot wait! BTW- spiders are amazing architects4 -
Good morning!
Up at 2. Sinuses dry - 2 cups of coffee and I'm ready to rumble 😃.
Barbara AHMOD - love your new pupster. . Very intelligent eyes and looks like some border collie in there?? If so, she'll be herding Tumble and you can easily train her to sweep the floor and do the dishes, lol. She will keep Joe busy. Great addition to the family
BB&B DVD arrived yesterday, finished watching it a little bit ago. Doesn't look too bad, but what a workout. The instructor looks like a 30-something skinny aerobics teacher so she's going at full speed, but it shows a gal performing the moves at "Lanette" speed hanging onto a chair. I think I'll invest in an aerobic stepper, they recommend cheap ones from Walmart.
Rebecca ((((Hugs)))). If I was up at Whidbey I'd grab you for a long walk. But it looks like you'll have to go without me. Much shorter days already might be part of it? I read somewhere to get sunshine in your face for fifteen minutes when you first wake up, eyes tell the brain that it's going to be a fabulous day or something. 😉
Update on our pup who was scratching..... Yesterday morning 2 fat fleas hopped off her. Finally, we see some. Treated her and Sophie with Revolution and the cat got some too.
Lunch with GF today. I'll show up with bags under my eye, lol.
Off to the races. Make it a fab Friday!!

I'm 57 and started at 200 lbs on 9/25 and I am down 20 lbs to date. I walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes 5-6 times a week (avg. calories burned 250). Using the basic app to track my food daily. No cheating so far and I am really proud to say it is never to late to get started. Goal 150 and size HEALTHY!!!! Be encouraged. I am using a ketogenic diet and trying tons of new recipes.5

Barbara, congrats on your new dog. Thanks for the pictures.
Rebecca, my solution for everything is to go for a walk with headphones listening to a good book, good music, or an uplifting podcast. Also checking with your doctor is a good plan.
Michele, my reaction to the flu shot was a sore arm for over a week.ovrjoyd4u1940 wrote: »I'm 57 and started at 200 lbs on 9/25 and I am down 20 lbs to date. Went for my run in the beautiful sunshine! DH came with me to the turn around spot at the toilets and then he usually walks on a bit. I put my headphones on and listened to the BBC4 Podcast, in the Soul Music series, about Rhapsody in Blue.
I've been sciving off writing my memoir by Amazon browsing for the Christmas table. Bad me! I do love a welcoming table. I haven't ordered anything yet except for the Christmas crackers, (which you don't have in the States). If I've got the table laid and looking lovely that's half the battle. I'm not going to be too ambitious though as there will be three messy children. Just some bright colours and nothing to ruin. My normal table colours are blues and pink, so I need some more Christmassy colours.
One of the funny things I do is like to think how much I would have spent if we had gone out somewhere posh for the delicious meal I am cooking. For tonight, if you include the fabulous bottle of Riesling we are having, I think it would have cost around £80, just for the main course and wine. Add on dessert ( poached pears, yoghurt and caramel sauce) and a bite of chocolate with coffee, we are talking nearly £100. So it's definitely worth all my efforts!
Must get on with it.

Rebecca When my son was 19, I realized that I was subtly trying to control/manipulate his behavior because I was dependent on him emotionally. It boggles my mind to think about this now because I am a true introvert & don't really want to be around other people much, but at that time for whatever reason, I was clinging to my hatchling. On his 19th birthday, he said, "Mom. You're way too dependent on me." At that moment, I had a sudden, brilliant, freeing paradigm shift. I saw the utter truth of his statement. I was making us both miserable.:'( I am profoundly grateful that I was able to just let go. I don't know how I did it...it just happened. I empathize to the nth degree with you. My son is 42 now. He's busy with his own life & I'm glad.
So...yes, if you are miserable over the normal (sometimes thoughtless) behavior of an adult child trying to get on with his own life, therapy/meds might be very helpful.

My grandson is still resisting doing Algebra ("mind-numbing", LOL!!!), so I am leaving it up to his mom to oversee Algebra. He is doing pretty well keeping up with History, Science, and English. This morning, realizing my only role would be as chauffeur, I asked if his dad could take him to therapy & I am taking the morning off. I deserve it.
I am going to order a doggie wheelchair and some hind leg braces for Bailey to help with his recovery. He is making incremental progress. It's been a week since he ruptured a lumbar disc.
My granddaughter has a swim meet tomorrow morning. I dread the parking situation.

Daughter went to Doctor but got one who didn’t believe her like usual. She’s a rarity a 20yr old Virgin who doesn’t date (guys ask her out she lets them know she doesn’t want biological kids only adopt a teen boy late in life they run 🏃 🏃 🏃 ...... 🏃♀️ . Well Doctor 👨⚕️ male didn’t believe her did a pregnancy test kept asking her how many partners over y over the. Stomped out slamming the door 🚪. Makes her feel like their calling her a liar 🤥 putting her down for being a Virgin. After a almost rape attack at work by another Navy coworker she takes a 1yr birth control shot just in case next time she doesn’t get away.(Boy was punished plus another boy who witnessed made him regret it too! The good guy y Daughter y his wife are friends now her Hero forever ♾). I told her it’s apart of being a female going to a Doctor they don’t believe me either. Male y female doctors do it now of days sad to say. Told her at least they didn’t decide she must be a Lesbian this time that’s a little better than usual. Being stuck on base she can’t walk off go to another Doctor you get who’s available. Sad to say first Doctors not to believe she is a Virgin was at 9 or 10yrs old said to her I’ve never met a girl your age who’s a Virgin your lying! Think the Woman has just doesn’t believe them cause she had a screw loose we changed clinics! (no not a exam down there their looking at her clothes on for a cold or flu so how they can decide she isn’t is beyond me if they looked they’d see she is! ) I just texted let her get it out. Navy kicks Girls with her job out if they get pregnant so trust me Daughter wants a career she’s not going to mess it up. Mad had to rant want to hang the Doctor by its toes!1 -
Good morning my friends, I continue to struggle to wrap my head around the loss of my sister. No plans for a service for her yet. I'm just remembering all the crazy things we did together and the laughs we shared.
Janetr OKC11 -
Janet - Make it a celebration of her life. Happy Christian songs or her favorite ones. A nice meal after for intermediate family the few extremely good friends (everyone pays for themselves. Let kids be kids a babies laughter is beautiful at a service - innocence. My Dads side sings them to heaven y celebrates it feels so much closer to them like they leave in peace but are still with you. Healing process is faster more complete. I can think back feel sad but then remember the wonderful time at the funeral y dinner after with everyone sharing happy funny memories lots of laughter y love.
Moms side does the sad 😞 ones very few songs always sad ones.Sad poems y yelling at kids to behave. I won’t attend them I leave suicidal.

Take your time the service doesn’t have to be fast 💨 sure they can tell you how long you can wait at the parlor.1 -
hi all how do I join you guys.. do I just post? I need to reclaim my body back..xx looking forward to the adventure xx4
-
Flea- What a gorgeous photo of the spider web. Those fascinate me.
Janetr - So sorry for your loss.
I agree with "happier" funeral services. I really don't do well at the sad, everyone cries, format. I cried uncontrollably when my grandfather died and had one of my childhood friends not showed up, I would never have made it through. That said, I've never been to one where it's a "celebration of life."
Welcome to the new members. Just chime in when you feel like it. Lots of great information to be had from these ladies.

Losing my sister has been the most difficult death for me to recover from. I've lost grandparents, my father, but to lose my family childhood peer . . . be kind to yourself. This will take a very long time, and you will never forget anything.
