Hi OregonMom! My son lives out there and I LOVE it! Visiting in a few months [again] and cannot wait! BTW- spiders are amazing architects
I agree! I am a huge spider fan. Well, I don't mean a fan of huge spiders, but a huge fan of spider of all sizes.

You would love our tarantulas! They don’t make webs, they live in the ground and line their homes with webs to waterproof and insulate the den.

Read pg 25. Back to being lightheaded. I think it is the colitis meds I’m reacting to now. Cutting back to 1 a day instead of 3 for a while. Going to GI next week. Meds working on colitis but making me feel faint! Side effects or colitis effects. Which do I choose????

Walked to the train station to get my ticket for Monday morning. I could buy it on the day, but you never know how long the queue will be at the ticket office and the machines are panic inducing if you are in a hurry.
The train I want to catch is the quickest of the whole morning, but it is unreliable because it is on a return journey, having already travelled across country early that morning. Yesterday it got stuck on the forward journey, so was cancelled. I will just cross my fingers.
I returned via the supermarket, and got a lot of bonus walking done in the sunshine. As I arrived home it started to rain and is still raining.
I'm looking forward to seeing my friend on Monday, who is now recovered from her septic toe. I feel I haven't had a girly chat in ages. My female friends are life's elixir to me.
Salmon for dinner. I bake it in foil with a squeeze of lemon juice and a smear of chipotle paste.

Good Morning! I'm new to the group. Turned 50 in August and decided it was time... to get in shape, start doing the things I've always dreamed of.
I've been eating clean and working out since September 1 and am excited about the results. Hired a personal trainer once a week to teach me how to use all of the strength machines. We will be "breaking up" soon because I'm ready to do it on my own.
Thanks for starting this group. It's nice to see everyone supporting each other.
Y'all have a great day!

Severogel – welcome! What a lovely dog you have (and you’re not bad, either). Please sign your posts with a name you would like to be called and a general location (so we can keep people straight) or identifying remark
Tracey – thanks for the reminder of why I moved south
RV Rita – feel better
Jennifer – welcome! Yes, after a time we all need to “break up” and go our own way. You CAN do this

Today is Carl Sagan Day!
"Carl Sagan Day celebrates the life, teachings, and legacy of Carl Sagan, who was born on this day in 1934, and who is known for his many contributions to science. ... Sagan worked in many scientific fields, such as astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics, and astrobiology. He was known for his ability to communicate scientific ideas to the general population, and to get people interested in science. This is probably most exemplified by his 1980 PBS documentary series, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, which was the most widely viewed PBS program of its time. It won two Emmys and a Peabody award, and has been viewed by over a billion people in sixty countries."
SuziQ - Beautiful roses! Thank you for sharing them.
Tina - Good luck making your big decision. Sometimes you just have to give yourself time and space to process stuff like that.
serevogel0724 - Ooh, I loved your picture! Even though we currently just have one medium-sized dog, I'm at heart a big dog person and I miss having giant dogs around.
jenniferormesher - We are practically neighbors! I live in Taylor.
Well, I was going to make lamb stew in the slow cooker this week but the market won't have lamb until next week. So, since I needed to sub in another slow cooker meal, I found a chicken and lentil curry recipe instead. Looking forward to trying that!
This morning was the farmer's market. We have traditionally had a microscopic, struggling market, but with the completion of a nice city-owned event space, we now have a growing Saturday market. Last week Philip started doing chair massage there, which means we had to bow out of our weekly friends brunch until the end of the market season. But this morning I just helped him get everything unloaded and set up and then went to brunch on my own. Now I'm procrastinating on doing my Nordic Track but I need to get to it soon because we're going to a concert tonight.
Busy weekends are a challenge but lately I've been working hard to stay on track, and it's paying off.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend...

The day didn’t improve!
Winter is imminent.
The grey sky weeps and grieves.
Wind whispers through the trees
looking for lingering leaves.
Across the lawn, Autumn abandons
her cloak of amber gold.
Jack Frost strokes the earth.
His bitter hand spreads cold.
Behind my double vitreous shield
I watch the day unfold.
Wrapped up warm, protected from
The creeping, seeping cold.

Hello lovelies.
As promised earlier here are some pictures from the flower class. The first is the classroom area of the shop, second is the set up, and the third shows the results.
I have been struggling with food choices the past few days. I am waiting way too long to eat and forgetting to carry healthy snacks with me when running around. I am still recording and it's amazing how much more food I am able to enjoy when I prepare versus eating something on the run. And, the food is much healthier from home. I am not beating myself up because we all have our days. Mine are now over and it's back to making good choices.
I hope everyone finds moments of peace and balance within their day.

I've noticed a few ladies mentioning hiking so I wondered ...
What is your favourite sport/exercise (or maybe top 3 if you've got a few)?
Mine are:- Cycling
- Hiking
- Walking/Running ... I do a combination of the two.
I also row on my rowing machine, climb stairs at work, lift weights, canoe occasionally, cross country ski and snowshoe when there's snow, do pilates and yoga ... but my favourites are the ones where I can get outside, enjoy nature, move, and think.

Had a nice, lazy done with son and his girlfriend. We had lunch while watching the Ohio State game (actually we ended up watching more of the Penn State-Minnesota game since Ohio State had things well in hand); then watched LSU-Alabama and had some pizza and wings for dinner. Not my usual food, but nice for a treat. New chair arrived while son was here so he brought it in for me. This is my first time posting pictures here so I am not sure I am doing this right.
It may seem like a little thing, but the more I make some of these choices on my own without my husband, it is a big deal. It's still a bit strange realizing my opinion is the only one that counts! It seems like it will be comfortable and it fits nicely in the spot I have.
Heading off to bed-have early service at church, then congregation meeting (I'm president of council so I have to run it). Will go over notes in morning before church. After that and singing with choir at second service, will stop by Kohls on way home to use Kohls bucks for a few more odds and ends Christmas gifts.
Talk more later,

Hi Gals,
Jennifer – I smiled at the popcorn is a grain and raisinettes are fruit…
Tina – a long walk, the beach or a hike –often alone help me sort things out.
Legend Heather! - How wonderful
Ginny – the chair is very good looking
Welcome all the new gals!
What is your favourite sport/exercise (or maybe top 3 if you've got a few)?
This is a tough one for me, the one I do the most is walking/flat low grade hiking, I love to swim but never once this summer found a pool to get into
Kim from N. California

Heather – how wonderful!
Ginny – that chair looks comfortable!
Went to church tonight and went into the cry room. I’m still coughing. I have found that when I get the urge to cough, if I take a swig of water, the urge goes away. So I brought a water bottle with me. I figured I really shouldn’t use the water bottle in the church and if I had a coughing fit, I didn’t want to disturb the others there. Also, this way I was closer to the bathroom.

Happy Saturday All, I am new to this group. I am 59 and am glad to be a part of a group of women over 50. I recently retired from middle school counseling after 30 years and am able to take care of myself so much better. I am eating cleanly and getting a good amount of exercise hiking with my Great Dane, mountain biking and swimming. I have lost 15 pounds since last May and have been maintaining what is now my goal weight pretty well. Logging EVERYTHING has been a huge key to my success. Like some others in this group have mentioned, I do not eat my exercise calories. Been there...done that and weight loss does not happen for me when I do that. I have improved my relationship with food which has helped me so much.
I love the quote above from SuziQ113..."Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." So true! What a great quote to keep in mind when I am tempted. Hope everyone has a great day.
Serevogel - OMG! I love the pup! We had a black dane mix that looked a lot like your fur baby! My big guy has been gone 3 years now.

Favorite sport? Is mowing the lawn and keeping up with the outside flowers and foliage a sport? I just love it when my yard is freshly cut, it looks so nice. I push mow it and we have a fairly big yard for living in town. It takes me 45 minutes non stop to mow, then another hour to weed eat. I get boxed in the winter with nothing to do outside.

SuziQ I can almost smell those roses!
Lisa so sorry for your and Corey's loss. Glad Corey has that physical, log sawing outlet . . . and you have the benefit of the firewood.
Machka sleep sweet, you deserve as much rest as you can get.
JenniferM, 82 degrees? Do you have a swimming option?
Michele did they use a machine to take your BP, or the old fashioned cuff with bulb/pump? Mine skyrockets on the machine but is just fine when the nurse uses the cuff. Wish I could fall asleep during either …
Tracey your weather reminds me forcibly why we left Idaho. ConVERYgrats on the big order! Will you do the craft fair this year too?
Tina in CA sending thoughts of clarity, strenght and peace to you. Best wishes.
Welcome serevogel0724, love the pic!
Carol your description of the air fried potatos, and plans for roasted/airfried vegs are inspiring me to consider a Ninja Foodi slow cooker/pressure cooker/dehydrator/air fryer combo as my Christmas Wish. Does anyone have one?
Welcome Jennifer in TX !
Terri Wow! I can feel Jack Frost's bitter hand. Very vivid. Thank you!
Heather, smiling dancing legend. Hooray!
Ginny in OH, love the chair. Good luck with your meeting, congregational meetings can be tricky... and looong... ;}
Favorite activities:

Playing in the dirt
Thanks to dog group, line dancing, and many outings with new pooch, broke the 10K step barrier for the first time in many moons. Pooped.

Running 5ks, Swing Dancing.
Those are the ones I love and actually do regularly.
The ones I love and do very occasionally (on the cruises) are Line Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, Swimming.
The ones I do because I have to do something regularly are walking, stationary rower, recumbent bike, elliptical, weight training, yoga.
I used to love yoga because I loved the teacher and the group. Haven't found one like it in Hove.
Strangely the running is easier for me than walking, which I have never found easy.
I would go dancing more often, but DH wouldn't be keen. I will look for a Line Dancing class locally, but they rarely are on at suitable times for me. My mornings are all busy already.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx who may go for a run this afternoon2 -
... a late evening indulgence is one of my caffeine-free teas. The lights are low, soft music is playing on the stereo, and I'm sipping a cup of apple-cinnamon chamomile tea or a orange-cinnamon rooibos tea or something similar.
Machka in Oz
Late evening ...
Lights dimmed.
Opera on the new stereo*.
Cup of chamomile and spiced apple tea.
*Some time ago, after staying a weekend in a place with a small stereo that produced so much better sound than our laptops or phones did, we decided to buy our first stereo together. We've both had one of the big old ones of the 1980s in our pasts, but haven't really had anything else since. This new one is a cute little thing ... definitely not top of the line or anything ... but plays music several ways (usb, phone, radio, etc.) and sounds so much better than our laptops. We've been enjoying it immensely.

Barbara - I was thinking about getting the Ninja last night. I need to get more info on it. I have held off on an IP but maybe now I’ll take the plunge. I too am interested to see if anyone else has experience with it.
