NYKaren- I am SOOOO with you when it comes to "home envy". While I love my house and still have great dreams and ideas for it; as long as I have oodles of very small children in it every day, it is useless to begin to turn it into the home of my dreams. I am settling for making it the home of my daycare kid's dreams. lol But, yes, I have had to pull away from the "home improvement shows, Pinterest, and quickly zip by any facebook posts about what others are doing to make their homes beautiful. I have what I need right now.6

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Snowing here - which gets me out of the meeting in town that I was supposed to attend, as when the schools shut down (which they have) the Girl Scouts shut their offices. Breaking my heart.
My husband just called, and he's safely at work, which makes me happy. He's got a little front-wheel drive car, and just buzzes around in the snow and ice. He was born and raised in Alaska, so I don't worry about his driving, but people here do not know how to deal with these driving conditions at ALL, so I do worry about the other goobers.
Revisited our budget, future forecasts, etc., and retirement, concentrating today on whether I can go part-time and still largely work from home, is actually very feasible. The decision on that will depend on how close we come to this year's forecast--which we're certainly hewing to so far, but as it's only week three, it's not exactly hard yet.
The budget is projected (don't laugh) to have the house and both cars paid off by the end of 2021 (they are our only debt), and have a four-year reserve in savings by the end of 2025. It can be done, even if I retire completely in 2022... but keeps things a little tight in the meantime.
That retirement age is TOO close for my peace of mind. I need to put it to the side and focus on the now and the present.
And, speaking of control, today is the first day with Wellbutrin - it's meant to assist with my concentration, my ability to focus, and hopefully some of the impulse control that is part of my pattern for weight gain. At a minimum it will take a week to make any difference, and possibly as much as four to six weeks, but we'll see. Like any of these drugs, it has potential, but it's very tied to the individual.
Off to the showers, then my workday will be exactly what it would have been anyway, other than a meeting I didn't want to attend, so life is good.
Later, y'all,

Not feeling like writing much as I am still absorbing my diaries. Lots to process. Had a dream last night involving getting attention from several different men. There are things in there that shock even me, that I didn't understand at the time.
Off to collect the kids soon. We are taking a pot of my frozen chilli with us to heat up at their house. I'm sure they've got some rice somewhere and maybe some frozen peas. We have to leave at about 6.30, so the au pair will have to put them all to bed. We can help with bath and pyjamas.

A coworker has suggested a bit of an exercise challenge at work: February 500.
The idea is that within the 20 work days of February, the participants will each climb 500 flights of stairs ... 25 flights a day!! Our flights are 20 stairs each with a landing every 10 stairs, and we work in an 11 storey building.
I have been building up, and this week I managed 19 flights one day. Next week, I'll try to get up to 25 flights so that I'm ready to go for the challenge.
When I was doing 25 flights a day a few years ago, I found it very beneficial for my cycling specifically ... and cardio, leg strength, and weight loss in general.
It's something that doesn't take much time to do. A few flights when we arrive at work in the morning, a few more flights around 10:30 am when we get up to stretch. Some lunch flights. And perhaps a few more mid-afternoon to get the blood flowing.
I was up to about 40 flights a day for a while in early 2016, but found that too much with all the cycling and walking I was doing. But 25 flights a day is all right.

Barbara - many, many thanks for Ken's "Why we fall" video. Boomer Life Support, lol. Love it. How lucky you are to have an instructor like him. (I am presuming the Ken in the video is your Ken?) I'm watching Part 1 then will continue on with Part 2. Like the idea of a Part 3!
House envy - more to clean, more to keep up, more to pay taxes on. I miss the 1930's house we had on the farm with its weird added-on rooms. And the ghost of a Chehalis Indian tribe member rumored to be buried beneath it who I constantly saw out of the corner of my eye. Friendly sort.
Our current suburban house is more expensive all the way around and boring, besides. My next dream house would be a sturdy, small old one similar to the farmhouse we left but closer to town with much less yard. I know there are some out there... when the time is right, we will find each other.
Make it a fabulous Wednesday, ladies!

Good morning! I am feeling totally unenthusiastic about the day. I was 100% Ready to dive into the kitchen to make banana pancakes with lots of butter and syrup. Glad I found all your posts to read and get my brain in the game. It’s like friends nudging me in the right direction—to stay on the path! I have dozens of cookbooks and love to bake. I think I’ll go in search of a healthy banana pancake option!
Barbara - lightning cable is the way to go. I always get mine at TJMAXX/Marshall’s type store.
NYKaren - my heart goes out to you about the issue with your hands. I vividly recall the fear I felt going through endless tests for mine (peripheral neuropathy in both hands, pinkie and ring fingers). I’m new here, so don’t know if/how to DM. Feel free to reach out to me if you want.
Again, glad I found you all!

Kelly- teepee an adult version so you could fit in JRs lol.5ft tall by 4 1/2ft wide in all directions star shaped. He has a little kids one they threw in free 5ft tall but only 21/2 ft wide he knocks in down if he moves so the bedroom one more for reading in than moving in.
M Oz- Dads in his late 60’s got injured in his late 40’s . Does make a difference. My fear is as his dementia worsens he’ll loose his progress the areas he gained could be lost. Dad gets disability he can never follow directions at work again. He can better his home life only tho.
Today soup y left over Mac y cheese. After this think I deserve something different getting exhausted of macaroni fast lol.

I have a lot of house envy. I left a huge house in Virginia to move here with my parents as part of my retirement decision. Now I have one bedroom, some basement space, and all of my furniture and stuff is in storage. I used to weave, and have two looms and a lot of yarn all in storage. I'm happy enough here, and saving money, but I really miss having my own home. Especially my own kitchen. My parents are in their late eighties, so this won't last forever. But for now, they are happy to have me and my dog around and I have all I need. Plus I am enjoying their last years with them.

Houses - I believe my home is where my family is and that is 1600 miles away. I have never felt any sort of attachment to my houses since (maybe because I don't have children), including the one I am in now. It's a nice house, but it's just a place to store me and my stuff. My retirement dream is to not have a permanent structure and just live 6 months in this country, 6 months in that one, 4 months here, 5 months there....and make my way around the world. I read an article many years ago about a couple doing that and have held onto that idea since.
Weight is staying stable by not eating after 6pm most nights and fasting after 3pm one day a week. That's good. Another positive of not eating so much is that my grocery bill has dropped drastically!
We are going into escrow on our investment property today. I really hope it goes through. That property causes me a lot of stress.
Hugs to all who are going through tough times. Make it a great week and weekend!

So while I'm without my Vivofit my husband suggested I use Map My Walk for my daily walk. Today was my first time using it. It gave me almost twice as many calories burned as my Vivofit did. I know that info can't be totally depended on but wow! What to believe?

Michele: Everyone is different. You seem to have excellent exercise videos that are right for you. I am grateful for my yoga classes and also for the chair yoga class that DH has found.
Kylia: I love your memories of your grandmother “squat walking” to pick up pecans. I’ll bet that I couldn’t do it, despite all of my yoga classes. :noway:
Lisa: Enjoy your snow.
(((Heather))): Memories can be challenging.
(((RV Rita))): Feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
I enjoyed yoga this morning. Now we are waiting for longtime friends to come and see us. We’re giving them a fresh sourdough starter because theirs failed several years ago. I am quite sure they failed it rather than the other way around. We have a fresh container of starter for them. It is ready to go. I hope they have a crock to put it in. The say they’re all set.

Home from French Circle. The lecture on Cezanne was good and we both understood nearly all of it.
Kids were excitable. Max had been on a school trip and was late getting back to school. We did our best to keep them entertained. Luckily Edie went off to her Rainbow group for an hour. (Part of the Guides) I felt sorry for the au pair. The kids do treat her a bit like a servant. But she does her best. Unfortunately Bea lost her monkey (her comforter) and we couldn't find it anywhere. She won't go to sleep without it. We had to leave before that situation was resolved.

Heather Thinking of you as you process your diary entries. Shocking…I don't think any of my diary entries would shock my adult self. Maybe cause some eye rolling & chuckling. I am sorry you were victimized.

Today a clerk with an attitude at the Social Security office "found" a form I sent her 6 weeks ago. I have been pulling my hair out because it needed to be taken care of by Dec 31. I had sent 2 forms without response. When she came back with the "found" form, I sat there with my mouth open, because she had just finished telling me that since I hadn't sent them the form in a timely fashion, I was going to have to live with the (costly) consequences. I started making a fuss, so she saunters over for a conversation with her supervisor, who eventually pulled my form out of one of numerous tall filing cabinets full of unprocessed mail! I asked her how this could be & she said they were "too busy taking care of customers to process the mail". To make it worse, I had mailed the form to her in a postage-paid addressed official government envelope she had given me at a previous visit, & never mentioned that it they don't actually process the mail & it would be better to come back in person. You can't make this stuff up. She was not too happy when I insisted that she give me a copy of the form with the dated stamp showing that they did get my form on time. Geez.

My dream house is a beautiful old house we lived in for about 6 months.
This was the front hall
It was about 3/4 renovated and updated but needed just a bit of work. I loved that place!!

The home page and newsfeed are separate from the message board. They're not connected. So if one is down, it doesn't mean another part of this site is down.

Not sure when I’ll get caught up. 😂4 -
Gray and drizzly sort of day today. I have choir tonight so white chicken chili in the crockpot for dinner. This way if DD is late I can go ahead and eat and she will have some later. Doing some decluttering.
Rita - hope you are feeling better soon.
Rebecca - Your little Athena is really photogenic.

Did Jillian Michael’s Burn Fat Boost Metabolism DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jari Love’s Get Ripped and Slim DVD.
I just found out that it really isn’t worth it to make applesauce in the IP. A 5lb bag of apples cost upwards of $2 and 6 four ounce cups only cost $1.25
RVRita – sending good wishes for you to get better fast
Rebecca – awwwww…especially in the tub
Karen in VA – that’s the government for you!! Unfortunately, being the government, I can easily believe it.
Here's the bear Jess made for PJ
Originally, she wanted to make something for me. Vince kept giving me the evil eye as if to say "oh, let her make something for you" but ma being ma, would rather see things for her children. So I suggested she make this bear for PJ. Now she did have to rush some trying to get it done in one day since she had to go back to school. I know if she had more time, she would have done an even better job.
