Well, and this is probably TMI, let's just say the long run took care of the extra food I'd eaten earlier in the week and hadn't yet eliminated...
Haven't experienced that in a long time...
I keep going through patches of feeling really hungry, having a couple of bites, and then being repulsed by food. So that's interesting.
I attempted to make snowflakes out of white chocolate, but couldn't get the temper right. So they look pretty but are soft and fall apart. Oh well. Will go to the supermarket at some point and get some compound chocolate which I don't have to temper. Going to bake the cake Monday and decorate Tuesday.4 -
Immm baacckk!
19.5k smashed. And many things learned.
1: overnight oats worked well as a pre race breakfast.
2: I put a drink bottle of sports drink on a neighbours fence so I could have a drink around every 4ish km - not exact but close. This was great. I really noticed the energy boost after this drink.
3: I still love jelly beans but may need to put them in a plastic bag - sweaty stuck together beans is annoying.
4: - and the biggest one. I'm running too fast. I'd have been able to finish a HM, but not a marathon at this pace. I averaged about 6min/km. So did 19.5k in 1:59:01. A great pace yay. But my legs and hips were very sore by the end of it. I need to slow down.
Ive been a bit arrogant up till now thinking I'd be fine, but no. No i wont.
So my mission for next week's HM run, go slow. Much slower.
Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint!

Well done on that run @Avidkeo -hopefully you can sort the pace for the next long run. And good luck with the cake. Anything frozen-themed can be easily made pretty with lots of “snowdrifts” of icing (powdered) sugar. If in doubt, throw it on, along with any edible glitter you can find!!
@eleanorhawkins - I am in complete awe of you running 2 hours + on a treadmill. Well done!!

I had a good 24 hours of feeling much better and, given that I never had any symptoms of ‘it’ in the first place, checked the guidance and decided I’m good to go back out running. I went very early this morning and only saw a couple of other people and was able to maintain plenty of distance! Just over 5.5 miles in the bag and (maybe?!) on track for 100 miles this month.

Long run complete. Came in at 2 minutes under 2 hours once I'd added my standard 10ish minutes each warm up and cool down walks. My treadmill cuts out automatically after 90 minutes, so I usually stop half way to reset it, refill my water bottle and visit the bathroom if necessary. Today, I managed to avoid the need for that but almost hit the wall behind me... around the 3km mark I could feel my shoulders were tensing up so I went to do the arm shake out thing and my hand caught the safety line. Ground to a halt in anticipation of dreadmill stopping, dreadmill actually took longer than expected to stop. Oops! Near miss!
Revised April goal: 140km. Run so far: 82.21km6 -

Toe discussion: My toes taper down. I still manage a bruised toenail every once in awhile though.
Hubby and I took a walk together last night, and today we have a hike planned.
I ordered shoes for my hubby and myself last night since Brooks had some on sale. Yay for last year’s models! My husband has not run since he got out of the military 8 years ago, but he has made comments lately about maybe doing C25K. I’m just hoping they will be comfortable enough to get a start until stores start to open up and he can get fitted properly (if he follows through with the running).3 -

Partly cloudy and mid 30s F this morning. Even though it snowed just about all day yesterday, the roads and trail were clear; the only snow I had to run through was on the wooden foot bridges. Actually kept pretty much to the pace I planned to run today.

Supposed to run a half today for the uncanceled project. I gave in to the potential placebo and bought some KT Tape.
It might be a very bad idea to run today but the idea of not running - not trying at all - feels way worse.
The good news is that I can change the distance of the virtual race even as I am running it, if need be. This really eliminates and excuse to not at least try.

@Faebert @PastorVincent @quilteryoyo thanks! My trick (apart from being stubborn as hell) is to put my tablet on the shelf so it covers the display and watch walking tour videos on YouTube. It's pretty funny how much of a mental sport running is, because when I watch a video that is on cobbled streets my legs feel more tired, when it goes uphill the run feels harder, etc. etc.
This morning I watched part of a tour of Rome. Rome is my favourite place in the world and probably my spiritual home. But today, during a long run before breakfast, all I could do was think of the delicious sandwiches they sell at the shop I 'ran' past on Via del Corso, or the huge takeaway cold cappucinos from the kiosk on a corner between St. Peters and Trastevere, or the awesome pizzas at the restaurant beside Piazza Navona. Not to mention the Tartufo from Tre Scalini. No wonder I'm still so rungry now!

So, speaking of toes. Mine taper down. And I've mentioned before my toe issues with morton's neuroma or metatarsalgia. For the last few weeks, the toes have been a little bothersome, but not painful and I've been able to run with no problem. But. After Thursday's run (was OK during the run) it seemed to have flared up again and now it's back to being painful when walking. So probably rest it again today (may ride if it clears up). I'll just try to do my long run tomorrow depending on how the toes feel. It's really weird the pain is at base in the foot pad, and then radiates to 3rd toe. Might have to go back to the doc for another shot or something else.

@bearly63 I may have to cross train with the vaccuum too as I can't/shouldn't run today. Yay us! LOL
Oh, and I'm B+ for blood type...Don't know if that is rare, normal or what.

Don’t know what my blood type is, but after a forty minute workout and heading to the trail i am back home because i had to go to the bathroom.
