Heather a book I read years ago mentioned VERB as a way to tell how happy you or someone else is at the moment. Verb stands for victim. E stands for entitled R stands for Rescue B stands for blame. If your or the person you are listening to is using language that makes them sound like a victim, they are entitled, they want someone to rescue them, or they are blaming someone for their circumstances they are more than likely not happy. Many of the phrases you mentioned fit one of these categories. The key for me is to realize when this is happening to me and what I can do to make a change that would help.
Pip great metal.
I took Drew to another dog park today. It was nice to have her off leash. I do think the large dogs overwhelm her. She would like to play but does not engage them like she did at the small dog park. I think she knows the bigger dogs can hurt her unintentionally. I hope to get her back to the park that had an area just for small dogs even if it is further away from our home.4 -

That was me yesterday! After the big day on Friday, I spent Saturday at home not doing too much.

Machka: You look beautiful and happy. Congratulations! I want to say congratulations over and over again. You worked hard, and never lost sight of your goal. That is admirable. :flowerforyou:
I am the guilty, horrible person who hit the disagree button by accident, and when I tried to delete the mistake my hand hit the disagree button again.
Katla
Thank you so much Katla.
And you are not the person who hit the disagree button. If you were, when you hit the button again (or any of the other buttons), it would have removed the disagree. You do not need to feel guilty.

Julie-good job on bike. I put together a recumbent bike a few years ago. Took some time but not that difficult. Hope you get the table adjusted-it could be screws tighter in some places than others. Slow peddling is better than no peddling!
Olivia reading to Phoenix is indeed precious. Someone has parents who read to them!
Rebecca-congrats on son ranking up.
Heather-been reading about GB increased restrictions. Glad they are not impacting you too directly. Not sure how the bubble concept would work here. Hope your step daughter gets situated.
Pip-that is a cute medal! Captures the times. Good job on 1st place.
Allie-I think your new routine sounds fine and agree it is helpful to have one.
Not one of my most productive days, but, did make grocery run. Discovered I had indeed lock my ATM card (tried to use it at Starbucks). Last week end I wanted to use it to purchase a couple of gift cards (they don't like you using charge card). Had not used it in awhile (prefer to use charge card and then pay that off). Tried three different numbers last weekend and then found where I had written new number down. Called customer service at Credit Union for cards and after about 20 minutes or so it was unlocked. Ran down to ATM and indeed, I had right number now. Felt pretty silly, but realized this is the first time this has ever happened to me, so I can accept it!
Finished wrapping last of presents. Delivered work presents to offices Friday. Tomorrow I will put away all the paper, boxes, etc. that I had stashed in back bedroom. Plan is to set up saw horses in then and begin painting new doors I had installed (they were primed but not painted). Also got in an hour walk this morning. It was cold but discovered I had dressed just right for the temperature.
Off to read for a bit.
Take care all,

On finding out which posts got the “disagree”. To be honest, I don’t have the time or the desire. I don’t think anyone on here would purposely do something like hitting the “disagree” button. And you people are the people who matter to me.
Went to Food Lion to get the potatoes I forgot. Anyway, there was a lady outside telling me how she hurt, how she’s going to quit because she can’t stand the cold. I don’t know if she really is or not, but I told her to do it inside that that’s what the gal on Friday did. Who knows if she took my words to heart or not. Anyway, it seems she’s also diabetic and she asked me if I had a quarter so she could get a candy bar (she was a quarter short) so I gave it to her and also a mint. I know that’s not much, but it’s the type that’s not hard.
Well, I had all the food for tonight out of the freezer defrosted, started cooking (opened the cans for soup, got the corn in the pot, peeled the potatoes) and Jess and Colby decided to cancel their trip and have Christmas Thursday. So back in the freezer things go and I guess I’ll take them out again Tuesday. Talk about changing plans at the last minute! Now I don’t know what to have for dinner!!! Plus…I had things planned so that I cleaned out the freezer, now I don’t know what to have next week. I know what I was going to have for Vince and I…but now. Well…we’ll get things figured out.
Pip – do you have room for another medal????? This one is so cute!
Jess and Colby went to Five Guys to bring something back. They have a veggie sandwich which I’d like to try. When they come back, I’m going to ask Jess to help plan the menu and that I really want to know what we’re going to have so that I can buy the ingredients and not have to go to the store multiple times
I’ve asked Jess and Colby what they’d like for next week. Colby said “crepes would be good for breakfast” so I asked him if he would make them. I got a “yea, I guess so” – almost like he expected me to do it. They changed their plans, I feel they should help with the cooking. At least help. I told Jess that I want to try to minimize how often I need to go to the store
Tried this different recipe for fudge. We shall see how it goes. Also making yogurt. I told Jess that I like to make it for two reasons. Because you can regulate how tart it is and also because it’s much less expensive. She’d probably rather pay for the convenience of having it already made. Not me. Not sure what their plans are for after this week, but I guess we shall see.
My whisk just broke so I'll probably buy another one to give Vince to give me.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on
Our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yule-tide gay
From now on
Our troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years
We all will be together
If the fates allow
So hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

I thought I'd have more time for exercise, and especially cycling once I finished university but it hasn't quite worked that way this month!! I've been busier than ever! But I'm hoping that things will start calming down this week and during the week between Christmas and New Years.

I have been wondering how Tracey in Edmonton is doing. I believe she works in a care facility for elderly people. I haven’t seen her post in a while. Has anyone heard from her recently?1

On the disagree button, I noticed that I went on another thread on this group forum today and I got a disagree hit because of something I said. So yes ladies on here do hit the disagree button on purpose.2

Yes. Of course we do! If you say controversial things on a public forum someone is going to disagree. And that's not a problem. I have disagreed here or elsewhere in the past ... not recently ... but as I say ...Disagree is not an attack. We all have things we disagree on. It is a polite way to say, "Sorry, but I disagree with that." Disagrees are not held against you. You won't be banned from the forum if someone disagrees with you. I have 148 of the things and that's OK.
Read the last two posts ... especially Ann's:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10777166/disagree-usage#latest
Plus ...Oh, how lovely! I get a disagree right away! What do you disagree with?
Any wonder why so many have left this thread?
This is a thread within a subforum (Motivation & Support) within the MyFitnessPal forums which is part of the overall MFP site. There are thousands of people somewhere within MFP who could have opted to select disagree.
And this is a public thread in a public forum. It can be read by anyone, anywhere in the world who has access to a computer. Any one of those people could have become a member for the purpose of clicking disagree now and then. You can Google a phrase from any one of your paragraphs, and your post will show up. There could be people Googling themes like yours and disagreeing.
If I post anything about Community Guidelines: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/community-guidelines ... I usually get a disagree. I think it's funny! There could be someone with absolutely no life Googling MFP Community Guidelines for the sole purpose of disagreeing!
Or as others have mentioned, someone could have hit the disagree button while scrolling on the phone and not even realised it. It is in a kind of awkward place.

Oh, and I think I might be up to 150 now.
Now ... can we move on?

Allie - Good for you establishing a routine. Keep going with that PT, one of the best things you can do to help your recovery.
Pip - congrats on the medal!
Ran errands today. Went to co-op with coupon for 15% off and also registered for a raffle for 1 ton of hay. Sure would be nice to win that. Also got dog food, cat litter and Christmas treats for cats and dogs. We bought new collars for the goats and the horses got German horse muffins.
Katla- Sorry you are having trouble finding time to get to the stable. I find spending time with the horses is my sanity.
Everyone take care Sue in WA2 -
DH seems a little more cheerful this morning. He did sleep last night.
Crazy aren't we for agitating ourselves about our adult children! She is 48 and her sister in France is 50 tomorrow!
We had a nice chat in bed this morning, so I hope he can get things in perspective.
Yes, I am thinking about Tracey too. Katla.
Rebecca, Margaret - I'm reading a good book at the moment called HOW EMOTIONS ARE MADE - the secret life of the brain. By Lisa Feldman Barrett. It's mainly about the cultural construction of emotions, but also how to master and change your reactions to the world.
I'm aiming at this, which is the other list I carry with me on my phone for difficult times. Note aiming, not necessarily always achieving, but sometimes I get there!
Lots of love to all, from aspirational yogi, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: BP, Packed up goodie bags and delivered to C, T & D, in car coffee klatsch with C & T watching the waves. Dogs to powerline.
Bonus: foil wrapped butter pecan fudge, holiday nut crunch, English toffee and the few rum balls I’m giving away. B and C’s boxes packed for mailing with all but the last fudge. Mise en place experimental flourless peppermint cookies.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, call R, Post Office, corrected roster to Cal-Or, index mutual aid files, watch STAS Day 18 (go sniff), submit grant pics and receipts, test Bluetooth speaker so can do BB&B or T’ai Chi from voice recordings, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed; broadcast cover crop seed in veg garden areas, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, Monday call State Fire Marshall’s office re: reporting, next BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Monday: recycling.
Reward: inventory seeds, plan next year’s garden, wishlist replenishments, ask faucet question, if answer ok order.
Do Good December
19: Buy locally and support independent shops near you: ok heading to Gold Beach/McKays tomorrow to buy Christmas roast. Higher price but probably better quality than Freddie’s.
Tracey @snowflake1968 we miss you. Hope all’s well with you and yours.
Charsuzy and Fae hope the moderator can identify whoever is cyberbullying Fae so he/she can be blocked.
Karen in VA I just want to crawl into that that pic of Olivia and Phoenix!
Julie Brava for assembling that exercycle!
Lisa please don't go, you'd be so missed!
Kay “I do feel the love in this group. “ Me too.
Rita ((hugs))
KJ your “No one else's opinion really matters in my mind. Lol” is the attitude I strive for. Not there yet but that’s no reason for me to stop trying
Allie Brava for getting up, walking around the house, doing your PT and resting. These are the steps to restoring your health. How did the chat with the cardiologist go?
Rebecca the pack of index card sayings you go through in your head. So positive!
Barbie your spiritual commandment not to take things personally is one that has helped me when I remembered to follow it.
Heather, likewise thanks for the reminder of Barbie’s nine things to give up if you want to be happy.
Pip The masked Santa on your 1st place medal made me smile. Con VERY gratulations!
Ginny like you, I prefer to use a credit card for all purchases. If the vendor wants my debit card instead… I choose to shop elsewhere. Debit cards are vulnerable links to bank accounts without the protections of credit cards.
Michele “…and you people are the people who matter to me” True for me too.
Machka “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas” always makes me mist up.
Sue in WA good luck on the raffle. What the heck are German Horse Muffins? The image I have is not a tasty treat for your horses, but the Lipizzaners’ gifts to the earth… oh wait, those would be Austrian muffins…
Joe took the dogs to the powerline this afternoon. Thought about it for a minute, grabbed rain jacket and joined them. Needed the break and the steps. Could have used more.

Hello everyone.
It has been a few days and I have a ton of reading and catching up to do. I cannot believe how quickly December has flown by. Before we know it we will be wishing each other Happy New Year!! I am remaining present and am not wishing my final 2020 days away. I still remember at the end of 2019 thinking, “I cannot wait for this year to be over.”. And look what I (we) got. If 2020 has taught me anything it is to remain present. As a natural planner it is easier said than done.
Again, I would like to thank everyone for responding to my “What Would You Do” question. In the end I decided not to go to the gathering. My decision was not based upon fear, government interference, conspiracy theories, and the like. My decision was based upon the numbers. I live in a County that has been a red zone since practically day one. We have been averaging 1,100 cases a day! Common sense tells me there are many more because there are probably 5-10% who have gotten sick, know they have it, and do not go and get tested. My calculations told me out of the 15-20 people who would attend at least one would be asymptomatic. So instead of being awkward by bringing my own food, telling people to stand back, carrying wipes, and basically being uncomfortable I stayed home.
Oh, the Zoom gathering scheduled by our partner……had to be rescheduled because of the snowstorms in the Northeast. Many did not receive their packages in time. Both of mine were received by 3:30 the day of the party (pics in spoiler). It has been rescheduled to this coming Tuesday. It will be a good way to kick off our pre-Christmas holiday (we have Thursday and Friday off this year as our official holiday).Box #2 - Note the first one contained two rather nice cocktail glasses which can be seen in the second picture. This is one organized company.
Some of my indoor orchids decided to give me a Christmas present. There is another with a stem too (no pic).
Enough about me. My next post will be an attempt to catch up. Let’s see there are only 12 new pages since my last post. 😊
Hugs to all.

Good morning Peeps!
Pip - do you miss the rain and gloom you left behind up here in the Pacific "Northwet"?
On buttons - I wish there was a "DISAGREE" button I could tap 1000 times for all of the flippin updates on devices and my phone in the past couple days. Apps rearranged. New ones not working. Digging around to find the old ones they hid. Why can't 'they leave stuff alone? Rhetorical question.
Would like for the Christmas goose to deposit some jingle bells in their jammies.
Disagree button - here: We're a support group. What do we have to disagree about that we can't quote the original post and then give our reason why? And if someone blatantly breaks the rules like posting something real mean or heavily political, can't we flag it?
And on the flip side, how many times do gals post something that is heartfelt or interesting and they don't even get a "like"? I dunno. Sometimes we all need a hug. Others have commented to me privately that sometimes it's disheartening to feel like their posts are ignored, especially when other gals will get many likes for essentially the same posts. Just sayin'.
You all have a good day. Take your vitamins and get some fresh air. That's my plan.
