Walking and running an average of 6 miles a day this month. Set up indoor bike, did my first beginner spin class this morning and followed it up with a 20 min yoga session. I’m realizing I need to vary my workouts a bit, so will try and work on that this week!
We went to dinner Sunday night and I had to borrow a top out of my 17 year old daughters closet because none of the ones in my closet looked good anymore (too loose) :-)
At work, I can't accesses both of my managers' offices unless I go up this staircase with a wicked incline. Normally, it makes me feel like death going one way and I have had to mask sounding like I'm dying trying to catch my breath. Ever since I started Couch to 5K during Christmas week in 2020, going up these stairs have gotten easier for me. I'm not feeling my heart beat like crazy out of my chest and it's a bit easier to breathe. My weight fluctuates so much, but yesterday, I weighed in 7.2 lbs lighter than Christmas week.
I can't mind how much easier these will get once I'm at the 15, 20, 30+ lb weight loss mark.
My newest wedding ring just got to me - a size four and a half. I started at size eight a year ago. (Wedding ring is a simple titanium band - emblematic of our relationship and I treasure it)
As I was preparing my meals for my 12 hour shift at work today I realized I didn’t feel deprived or like I was on a diet. Everything was something I am happy to eat. My focus on losing weight this time has been to make this a lifestyle change rather than a diet so that felt really good.
Skipping a whole dress size on the way down and taking my lifting belt down another notch....oh and learning two new lifts (belt cleans, strongwoman style and power jerks) and conquering the frell out of them (have belly/ab bruises to prove it)
Skin NSV - I had a belly button piercing for a number of years before I got pregnant and then took it out for good. Ever since then, I can always tell when I'm finally losing weight because of the way the stretch marks around it get wrinkly before my skin adjusts/tightens. This time I'm trying to lose the weight slower so my skin has more time to process!
Editing to add - lose the weight slower and keep it off!
Wearing a purse of mine crossbody. 45 lbs ago it barely went over my shoulder and boobs. Now it hangs down properly and is comfortable to wear that way. Woohoo!
My Tuesday/Thursday morning workouts are cardio, and the warmup is always the same - shuffle, jump rope, squat to knee strike, lateral lunge, sumo squat walk. When I started the program 8 weeks ago, I could barely hold the sumo squat, let alone step forward and backward like the trainer was telling me to; the best I could do was a wide-legged stance shifting from one foot to the other. This morning I managed to stay low (knees bent almost 90 degrees) and take 8 steps. My hips still don't love it, but they're getting better at it!
I was going into the office today and ended up having to wear jeans, all of my proper trousers were baggy or otherwise weird looking.
I also had a bunch of polite feedback so that was nice affirmation especially since I haven’t really lost weight since November. I sort of decided to maintain over the holidays in order to slow my roll a little but also went on a slight candy bender that wasn’t supposed to happen... I’m holding steady at my all time low again now and will see if I can slowly lose a couple of more kg this spring to bring me into the healthy BMI.
