I got up to the heaviest I've been in two years this month. Yep. Not since I was in initial loss mode was I this big.

So, just between you and me, I ~only~ did it so I could come back here and "weigh less than a month ago" for at least a few months going forward. 🀣 🀣 🀣

    Not really.

But the good news is I've been coming back down since mid-month, and maybe I'm getting a handle on it again.

@mtaratoot The struggle is real. I have managed to gain back over 30 pounds of the original 80 I lost a couple of years ago. I can give you many valid reasons and a few excuses too, but that is all water under the bridge. I’ve just got to stay focused and make better choices more often and move every chance I get to get some calorie and fat burning going. You and I have traveled this journey together for quite some time in many challenges. I am still here too. We can do this! There is no clock or time limitations on our improvement. I just want to try to keep moving in the right direction no matter how slowly or deliberately that may be.

    Hey Donna!
I know that was your goal, so
    C o N G R A T U L A T I O NS!!!
    ❀️❀️

As the Half Size Me lady recommends. First maintain the higher weight. When you know the exercuse & food that makes that happen, then go on planned dieting (with set begin & end dates) and immediately go back to your maintenance plan in the end date. Maintain the new weight for awhile then plan another short 1-2 month dieting time. Repeat.

I’m still working on the maintaining rather than creeping up slowly.

Will decrease calories further this week.

I remember how difficult it was to Just Get In the 150’s in Jan/Feb/Mar of 2020.

THESE days right NOW (Jan 16-20) are why I’ve posted here all this time. I am working HARD to keep scale under 156, so it doesn’t rise like it did this time in Jan/Feb. I am implementing changes earlier, knowing I don’t want my weight to go up.

Hoping to have this β€œunder control” very soon.

Ugh Cutting more calories. I don’t know what changed but I will do what it takes. The really crazy thing is ALL my labs improved...

Ugh Cutting more calories. I don’t know what changed but I will do what it takes. The really crazy thing is ALL my labs improved...

Actually looking back my calories were up, I wasn’t happy, I was chewing faster, eating more salt & sugar & Starbucks.

Relieved to have my obesity in remission again. Will continue through Feb to get well back into my 153-155 range.

    2021: 24/47 β€œDays < or = 155”

I remember how difficult it was to Just Get In the 150’s in Jan/Feb/Mar of 2020.

THESE days right NOW (Jan 16-20, 2021) & (edit) late Feb are why I’ve posted here all this time.

Actually looking back my calories were up, I wasn’t happy, I was chewing faster, eating more salt & sugar & Starbucks.

Relieved to have my obesity in remission again. Will continue through Feb to get well back into my 153-155 range.

I did this but then health issue & cat’s death derailed me. Getting back on track.

May I ask what produces this graph?

May I ask what produces this graph?

You certainly may ask! I'll even answer.

I use a website that shows a weighted moving average trend. It's called Trendweight (https://trendweight.com/). You can view various time frames. The idea is that it eliminates some of the noise from daily weigh ins, and it's based on a little more than a simple arithmetic mean. A weighted moving average assigns a higher value to more recent numbers since today's and yesterday's weight are more important than ten days ago, but the trend is still important. To learn more about this, check out The Hackers Diet, especially the section on signal and noise (https://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/e4/signalnoise.html)

The only problem with Trendweight is you can't enter your weight directly. If you have a fitbit that is synced to the Fitbit site, it will populate automatically. I have a Garmin device, so I have to go to the fitbit website and enter my weight there. It also shows a trend, but I don't like the graphics as much.

I also use a site called Weight Grapher (http://www.weightgrapher.com/). One thing I like about THAT site, and that fits really well with this discussion, is that it shows your current trend and your trend from one month ago. This tool is primarily for women as it can help be less concerned with regular monthly fluctuations.

I haven't been posting to this thread lately in part because I've been doing poorly at maintaining my weight since November. It's been slowly going up. Every few weeks, I think I've hit top and started back down. This is one of those weeks. Now we just have to see what happens next week because I'm too far out of my maintenance range than I like. The first time I lost "the last ten pounds" it was tough. It's tough this time, too.

Thanks for that, but I also use trendweight (connected to my withings scale) but the graph doesn't look like yours. Yours looks like it has curve fitting rather than a trailing average.

What does YOURS look like? Because I can't imagine how it would be different since it's the same web page. It does look slightly different if you zoom in to three months or less; it gives an estimate for the future.

The site uses a weighted moving average. It is described at https://trendweight.com/help, and they also link to Hacker's Diet.

My all time (since Jan 1), looks like this:
    xe1cji73uu5g.png
It typically lags by 1.5 to 2kg. I looked through the settings and can't see anything that makes it look like yours.

When you have six months of data, it may look different.

When you get closer to your goal, or when you start to have bigger weight spikes OVER the trend line, it will start to look different.

That "green zone" towards the bottom was when I was close or in my goal range; that website assigns a goal range of +/- 2.5 pounds (about a kilo). I never found any way to alter that; my maintenance ranges are an "ideal" range that is +/- three pounds and an "absolute" range that is +/- five pounds.

Thanks for the explanation. I look forward to spiking above the line (sort of!).

    Just checking in.

I'm not doing so hot in March. I suppose my main mini-goal, at this point, is to get back to starting weight.

I hope I don't jinx it by saying this, but I really DO think I've finally FINALLY passed over the hump on what I called my "Big Oops" that started in October and continued until some time in February. Five months of disappointment with a little break in the middle, then more disappointment and now maybe (MAYBE) a reprieve.

    3ah11cjwpf5v.png

The scary part is I had my first gain when the pandemic started a year ago; it lasted for a couple months from March through May before coming back down by September and then.....

    jquxksydg7xm.png

Maybe (MAYBE) I've got this back under control again. Maybe.
