What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

To not look "skinny" but to finally uncover my abs and look good. Then maybe flaunt it a little in my ex's face...9

There are quite a few petty and non petty!
- To be able to shop anywhere and not be restricted to shops that only cater for "plus size" women.
- To give myself more confidence overall
- To feel better about myself when going swimming or to the beach
- I was emotionally abused by an ex over my weight. The ex has gone. I want to lose the weight for me - not to please him.
Wishing everyone else on their journeys the best of luck and hope your day is a good one today!16 -
The author of this thread hasnt logged on in almost 1.5 years. That could be proof that the reason wasnt enough.
The only true way to be a LTWC (long term weight controller) is to be mindful and love yourself enough.
MFP is an essential tool in this to keep yourself accountable but if it's a struggle to stick to a "diet" your weight will always yoyo. The only way to keep the weight off is for your lifestyle to change and for your new eating and exercise routines to be "normal"6 -
My mother put me on weight watchers when I was 8 years old, then bounced me from yo yo diets to yo yo diet my whole childhood, then would make me feel bad about myself. Classic projection. She was 400 pounds and made it my problem. She would sag "if I didn't have kids i wouldn't be fat." 😅She ended up having a weight loss surgery. Her and I don't speak anymore, but we have a wedding to go to in 2 years from tomrrow. Therefore, my petty reason is to show my mother that if you actually do weight loss in the healthy and right way you can look damn good and feel good. She doesn't like the way she looks now because of the scars, loose skin because she lost it to fast, her life is more restricted. Here I am eating cake but loosing weight lol!
Sorry mom not sorry 🤷♀️30 -

I feel you there! My car turns heads but then they see me get out and look away. I'm not saying I need people to pay me attention but it would be nice to have the full package!7 -
I want to look as fit as I am. I can hike mountains all day, throw around heavy weights, and propel myself out the water up to my belly button when treading water. I've run a marathon at this weight. My blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar are all fabulous, plus my resting heart rate is in the low 50s. But... I'm overweight, and I'm tired of people being surprised when they figure out how into exercise I am. I want to look the part!13

My cousin is getting married in December. I have a few gowns that I can wear... If I lose like 50 lbs.
Was in the hospital a few weeks ago and they couldn't find my veins. Said weight gets in the way.
Again: closet full of smaller clothes.15 -

Idk, that hot lady on the car in your pic looks to be quite the package in her own right. The car is just a bonus. 😉7 -
As I said in my last post, I want to have the confidence to go see people again and not be overly concerned and have to use Covid as the excuse.9

Hmmm let's see.... not sure I would call any of these petty per se but
1. Tired of seeing my extra chin
2. I want to not hate clothes shopping
3. I want to be able to swipe right on the hot guys
4. I would like to get off my blood pressure and cholesterol meds9 -

❤️❤️ Story of my life!! I'm 5'3" and weigh 81 kgs. I love to exercise!! I can walk fast and overtake a skinny person anytime. Infact post covid lockdown when I started going outdoor I realised brisk walking wasn't increasing my heart rate so I had to jog to feel that burn!8 -
My petty reasons mostly just involve how I look. I work in finance and want my discipline and sense of responsibility to show in how I portray to clients and prospects. Right now, I feel like I look frumpy and lazy. And I don't want to look lumpy in a suit.
Similarly, I'm surrounded by natural stunners--my sisters were on the Homecoming court when they were in school, and my best friend has won numerous pageants. Me? I'm a Plain Jane. While losing weight won't give me their gorgeous, exotic features, I feel less like a potato around them when I'm confident in my weight. For once I'd like to feel like I'm not just some adopted ugly duckling. (Just for clarity's sake, my family and friends all sincerely compliment me, etc. It's my own insecurity, not superiority on their end, that causes my problem.)19 -
I want to know how being hot feels before I am too old to enjoy it... 😄13

Maybe not petty so much as curious. I’ve been obese since I was a kid. Kinda wonder what I look like under it all. 🤷♀️21

so that I am thinner than my sister10

I feel this a little too much. 😂 I can’t be thinner than my sister though- she’s built willowy while I am curvy. If I get within ten pounds of her weight I will look unhealthy thin. I just want to not look overweight next to her.8 -
Facebook photo likes/comments and getting hit on my guys and then rejecting them by showing off my wedding ring lol! I promise those aren't the main reason but they are the things I miss that I don't really want to admit missing haha.5

Like several here, my "petty" reason is the ex. He insisted I was still sexy even though I had gained over 50 lbs, but he also cheated, and after we split, he proceeded to publicly announce that my weight was one of the reasons he left. Yeah, he was a real charmer.
I've never been slender, but I was cute 50 lbs ago. I would just like to get there again.
And then just randomly bump into him.....18 -
Simply because I want to feel pretty and healthy. I want to wear a crop top and be one of those girls who can wear and feel good in anything. I’m tired of hiding. I’m tired of fighting.13
-
I'm a heavily tattooed girl and in 2022 I want to start my back piece. Preferably on a back that is in good shape lol
And to wear cuter clothes 🥺👉👈10 -
I was never fat, was in good shape till I was 20-21 because of overexercising at the gym and then I quit and blew up overnight and the little male attention I used to get stopped too. So now I wanna get into shape to meet a nice guy coz I'm bored of being single10
-
My petty reason.. A lot of family members that were overweight had the surgeries and now they are thin. I feel out of place in most places, and I don’t like it. I want to do this naturally and prove to my family that I’m not a failure 😞20

My main reason to lose weight is health, and I'm doing this for myself.
As far as pettiness goes, I'm tired of being the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend or, in my case, Dumb Ugly Fat Friend - that's how I've been made to feel by others around me). If nothing else, at least I want to switch that F from Fat to Fit. So far, so good. I'm not there yet but I'm much closer than I was when I started.20 -

This is what very well could and will happen. You'll lose weight and realize how strong you are. you will look incredible, but realize; you're the same loving deserving person that used to be overweight and you were married to man who never truly saw you..and loved you. The stronger fit you simply will move on to higher ground. Do it for you honey. He's history and you're gong to find a true love.13 -
I'm 33. I got called aunty by a 28 year old chick . Ugh feeling so angry 😣12
-
@Frompumpkin2cinderella Where I’m from “aunty”, is a compliment. It CAN denote age, but usually it’s not meant in a negative way. I’m curious what “aunty” means in your neck of the woods?3

I live in India and aunty has variety of meanings to it. From respectful to downright naughty.its used to address 55 year old gray haired lady and also what Americans call milf you know mature horny chick now I'm pissed coz it was said by a chick so I wonder what she perceives me as6 -

Well, I'm not in your culture, but in my culture, one possible interpretation would be that she views you as someone strong, mature, admirable, and worthy of the respect she'd give someone older than herself/yourself.
But what do I know: I call myself an "internet auntie" and "internet granny" pretty often, in a joking way, as an attempt to reassure people that I mean well and wish them well, even when I'm being a little bit frank and lecture-y. 😉 (I'm way older than you, 65, and genuinely gray-haired. It's a great time of life, in my world - especially as a survivor of advanced-stage cancer . . . I don't know why people diss age so much.)11 -
Coworker have been trying to get us to join her MLM weight loss scheme. She's been losing some weight, but at the same time she's complaining about how much money she spends on small packets of shakes and terrible soups each weeks.
I told her that anyone would lose weight if they ate around 1000 calories a day. So now I'm losing weight on 1500 calories a day and eating actual food while she complains about her shakes.9 -
So at some point I'm going to see my ex-husband again. Naturally I want to make it clear how fabulous my life is now. Part of that is having a lot less of me. He never would let me diet; it set off massive insecurities in him. So I just want to prove that just like having a messy house, having a fat *kitten* is something that only happens when I'm with him. Not with my new guy.15
