Well Lanette I am with you. I slipped in the mud in the horse paddock and wrenched my ankle. Thought it was just a sprain so treated it with RICE but it did not get better so saw doc last Friday. X-rays show possible avulsion fracture. Have MRI this Friday and then decide on treatment. Not a good way to start the summer. Hope your toe heals soon.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA
Sue - oh no!!! I feel your pain!! So much to do around our places once the rain stops, if it ever does.
Well I DO have a broken toe, doc sent me for X-rays this morning. Taping it will likely be the only solution, and I am supposed to wear stiff soled shoes for 6 weeks. This means I need to go shoe shopping. My Hoka's are the only shoes I have in the house with a wide enough toebox to be comfortable and not squeeze my little piggies and they are too soft.
DH Stuff:So when I saw the doc about my foot, we had a chance to talk about DH's final blood tests. I asked what sent him into the fast lane in 3 months if he didn't have cancer? He said the docs at the hospital were puzzled. When his liver and kidneys were failing, it's typical of sepsis yet his while blood cell count was normal. He'd mentioned DH had a recent heart attack - I am pretty sure I remember the day it happened because he really spiraled downward after that - a week prior to his hospitalization.
And DH's not eating... his BMI was down to 16 so he was prone to succumbing from any infection. 6' 1" and 130 lbs.
So everything added together with the stubborn Italian former Marine mindset.
Anyhow, I was going to try to hop on the mower this afternoon, the next door neighbor called and we'll both attack it tomorrow. Hope I can do an hour at a time without the pinkie complaining.
OK ladies, I'm bushed.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs them!
Lanette

Teenagers, at best, are a challenge. If you add in gender confusion that makes it worse. Then add parents who are over stressed by many things and a new baby who is loved and accepted and fawned over no matter what, it is no wander that some teenagers have a terrible time getting along.7

True Barbie True.. I try and talk with Carmine and do things with him,but to no avail,i take him to get hair cuts and now Tracy too I pay for those.. I take him to McDonald's but every once in awhile but being holed up in your room and being nasty to any adult you come across doesnt exactly make you want to make you want to do wonderful stuff for them..4

Barbara AHMOD-complex I am checking out is called Mera Chandler. Sparrow living is the company. They have several complexes in various parts of the country. Will let you know more details when I actually see it.
Julie-good to hear from you. You are sounding like you are in a better space.
Kylia-glad you found our secret 80 mph highways southwest Ohio! Glad no damage.
Flea-gorgeous pictures. Once I relocate I want to make a trip to Oregon and Washington. Have always wanted to see them.
Kim-very well stated on insurance in U.S. Did not come across political to me at all. Our system has definite weaknesses.
Allie-good job expressing your frustration with bed. Don’t have any advice to add for Carmine’s situation-just prayers for all.
Sue and Lanette-I do hope you aren’t starting a trend with broken bone issues! Heal quickly and well.
Another standard Monday for me-nothing big to report.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Athena is a charmer. Seems like she may be taking after her grandmother. ❤️ ⭐️ 😇2

Allie - I agree with Machka about the phone. That is the lifeline for kids nowadays. I think Carmine needs love and lots of it not discipline right now. I hope they are able to find therapy fast.
Just read all of your responses. I’ll pray he finds help soon.
Heather - what fun the Grands are, exhausting too.
Lisa - I overslept this morning and rushed to get to the office on time for a 815 zoom call with my exercise therapist. Turns out that appointment is on Friday.
Lanette - Ouch! I did that once and it seemed to take forever to heal.
I’m glad you got an answer regarding DH.
Katla - I personal do not answer any number that is not programmed into my phone. I miss calls but call back if they leave a message. So many of my calls now are scams. I have a friend that actually just plays with them until they get mad and hang up on her. She said it has lessened her calls as she is on a blacklist with them. Lol
Vicki - I hope DH is feeling fine and jury duty is cancelled so you can enjoy your vacation. I wondered if there was anything like that in the States, we have it here. I agree it is scary to make that call but so important.
Sue - I hope your foot heals fast.
Rebecca - Athena is so sweet

Debbie, where in Mendocino County were those $9+ gas prices? Lived in Ukiah for 9 years, BFF in Fort Bragg.
Welcome @KL102670 Karen in PA!
Heather I think you and Johnny and Bea and Edie but most especially Max did extremely well!
Katla Mama hummingbird stopped by again today for a sip. The males are all staying away. We use caller id to screen incoming calls. If I don’t recognize the number I don’t pick up. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail and then I can choose whether or not the call is important to me.
Lanette oww. Isn’t it weird how EVERYTHING causes the poor broken toe to hurt? Sneezing, laughing, breathing???
Vickie what is “EPC’d”?
Beth Thanks for the overfeeding giggle. ((hugs)) to you held extra long at this difficult time.
Sue “avulsion fracture” owww!
Ginny beautiful complex.
Rebecca thanks for the Athena and pooches pics.
Annie and Allie, you’ve already received the best advice, All I can offer is, like others, my prayers and good wishes.
TMIHad a strange episode today of chocking, hacking, spitting up… for over two hours. Guess I didn’t adequately chew my orange and it got stuck. At one point it felt like it was causing me to wheeze when I tried to breathe in. Finally, after a shower and visualizing all the stomach acid coming up as dissolving whatever was hung up, it cleared, but then I was exhausted.Didn’t even have the energy to update my accountability or take the dogs to the powerline. Just wanted to check in with you all.
Lighter, lovelies!

Hello all, I am new to this thread, and newly returned to mfp... over 50 years, at least 50 to lose... starting over as a newly 'on my own' woman.. Surprise! Not sure about much these days, grateful for my kids (adults all), my friends and my work.
Side note: (and perhaps this will seem presumptuous of me to bring up..sorry) I work with young children and it is our practice not to share their photos on platforms open to the general world, as they are not old enough to give consent, have no control over how their image may be used, and have little to no capacity to even understand 'consent'. Athena is a lovely little person, but maybe I shouldn't know that..as a complete stranger...?6 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

@ginnytez thanks for the shout out. things are variable. glad to have gotten a half-chapter (or chapter, 23 pages) sent out yesterday. Hoping to hear from my corrector soon. taxes are due tomorrow. Some other material stuff to tend to. Took care of sending accounts to dentist. there was a glitch and they said they were unable to access their accounts (!!!???) so I had finally tended to that this morning. I have some big stuff to take care of in addition to the writing, and some people who say one thing then another.
WorkThe employeurs I work for are very reputable schools but regularly trying to pull one over on the employees and reduce working conditions. One has to have a lot of effort to even keep the status quo, which is very modest pay. Now they and other schools around the country are ceasing contracts and just hiring sorts of adjuncts (but worse I think) with no legal rights (no vacation, unemployment, representation) nor anything.4 -

Welcome here ... and I agree.
As someone with education and work experience in IT, I know it doesn't take much to find out about or even find people, including children, on the internet and it's so easy to take and use photos.
These threads (all threads in MFP) are easily searchable ... not private at all.

Terry Thank you for the "done" reminder. Yesterday I managed to get a few things accomplished at work, I got my kitchen cleaned, DH fed, and large price book for work updated.
I didn't sleep well night before last, so last night I crashed. That alarm going off this morning was hateful.😞 I at least was hungry yesterday. Small meals and under calorie goal.
Allie I had to shout out that I am PROUD of you for taking a stand with the furniture company. That is the first time I remember that you have stood up and made your point decisively and quickly! High five!
Healing thoughts for those with injuries or illness.
Peaceful thoughts for those overwhelmed.
Thankful thoughts that you are all here as support for each of us.

Thank you ladies for your inspiration. Here's to a great June.

Morning, y'all,
Dental appointment this morning to install the permanent crown. Hopefully quick and painless, just pull the temporary, add super glue and stick on the permanent. But, I need to talk to them about the insurance payment. Delta finally ponied up about a third of what the dentist charged, but according to my online claim dashboard, the payment was sent to the dentist, instead of me.
I had to pay the entire cost before I left the office two weeks ago, and was very clear when I submitted the form that I had already paid and any reimbursement should come to me. I despise dealing with bureaucracies, but I'll go see if I can find my big girl panties and put them on before I call them. Staying on hold isn't my favorite thing, either.
Which reminds me, Kim, that was a really good description of the trainwreck that is health insurance in our country. That's not politics, it's just reality.
Allie - I really do know how scary it is for you and your family when Carmine seemingly doesn't want help or anything else. I don't have any advice except to just be there if Carmine chooses to talk. Proud of you for bowing up to the folks who were supposed to deliver your bed.
My alarm just went off to give me time to get in the shower, get dressed, and head for the dentist by 8:30 am. Gotta go!
Later, y'all,
Love,

Tried to talk to Carmine on the 5 minute ride to school..
Told him was glad he got out with his friend and that i loved him and will always be here if he wanted to talk and he just kept saying im not listening,i dont care..shut up.. etc... ugh4 -
I am sorry that some of you think we should not be sharing photos of our families in this chat. For many of us, our grandchildren and families are our lives. I will refrain from doing so in the future as I certainly do not want to put any of my loved ones in danger.
Carol in GA7 -
I disagree with not sharing photos of family and loved ones. Then everybody should be off of Facebook right!! Evil happens everywhere. We cannot stop living our lives and enjoying other people's lives because of people that are demented. Hopefully there is still more good in the world. 💞🙏💞

I hope I can get her to sing! I recall my paternal grandmother teaching me to sing, "Tiny Bubbles ...in the Wine". Not exactly a kids song, but she loved Don Ho, so she'd have me stand on the Woolworths luncheon counter and I would would sing.😋😁

But you wouldn't photos of your underage grandchildren on FB, right? Or at least not without the permission of their parents!

Machka ~ All the photos on my Facebook page are of my grandchildren and the family. I will continue to do so and know that they are enjoyed by all the people I am friends with. I am sorry that you feel so strongly about this. You certainly share many photos of yourself and hubby.

All these ladies know my Athena, and have seen her grow up, no worries.
Many of us are grandparents, not seeing our grandkids on a daily basis. When we get photos, we share them with our friends. I have never once felt weird in sharing them. Not until now. Thanks!🙃

We're adults, not children.
Not sure why your sorry that I've expressed my opinion ?? ... as with everything here you can take it or leave it.
I encourage you all to do some research on posting photos and especially photos of children ... and then make up your own minds.
