This has been a pleasant day. We walked in the garden and enjoyed chatting with others who were there. I enjoyed the flowers & plants, as well as the other people.

Debbie – sometimes you just need a day when you have something that tastes good regardless of the calories. As you know, if you don’t, you’ll always be craving it.
Off to watch some TV
Michele NC[/quote]
went and walked with my friend for 90 min so not as much guilt and had a great chat while we walked.
Came home and had a side salad (then a piece of jerky and a mini brownie). Now sweet and spicy tea-0 calories. 1299 cal for the day instead of my 1000-1100 but 600 under what MFP says I can have for the day so that is ok. Tomorrow I will be back on track

Hello ladies,
It must be my turn for insomnia. I have been tossing and turning for three hours now. I had a bad diet day again. I am angry with my dad for going outside in the smoke. I heard him coughing. And then I eat to feel better. At least I did twenty minutes on my bike.
A friend of mine is considering liposuction with a tummy tuck. It's a lot of money and results may vary, but the dream of instant skinny is appealing. I guess I want healthy more than skinny. But I'm not sure I'm really making any progress. I have been about the same size for several years. MFP
says I have a streak of 1447 days, and almost seven pounds lost.
So I am feeling gloomy. But this too shall pass. I am reminded of the time the minister asked my kid if she had a special happy place. My kid was five years old. She said yes, my happy place is Waikiki. (A beach in Hawaii). I am lucky enough to have some fabulous beach vacation memories. Maybe if I dwell on that, I will have sweet dreams.

Beaches I've been to:
Key West, Key Largo, Sarasota, Destin, Miami all in Florida
Catalina island, San Diego, Monterey in California
St Lucia and St Maarten
Waikiki in Hawaii
Cabo San Lucas in Mexico
Henlopen Rehoboth and Lewes in Delaware
Duck through to Ocracoke and Beaufort and Wilmington in North Carolina
Oh and the Jersey shore as a child - Avalon
There, that boosted my mood. What beaches have you all been to?

Annie - it is not considered or unusual for people to gain 10-15 lbs as they age, so I think a loss of 7 lbs in 4 years is superb. It’s 17-22 lbs under the weight you might have been without the diligence.

Heather - happy to read your cast is off. Hopefully the thigh heals fast.
Finding pleasure in the little things is a great thing to do. DH and I decided that next week in our anniversary we are going to go stargazing. It will be a late night but worth it.
Michele - I’ve read that a blocked oil gland can cause sty’s.
Rebecca - great picture of your son.
Flea - good news on the stable, hopefully the oncologist concurs.
I have always been one to not over schedule myself, I’ve always valued down time. I think I need to do the opposite and actually get out more.
Carla - I bet Hunter will remember the week he got to go to school with Grandma.
DC - I live outside of Edmonton Alberta. Originally from Hartland, New Brunswick home of the Longest Covered Bridge in the world.
Married 36 years next Tuesday to my best friend. Two adult daughters both married to wonderful men. One grandson and one granddaughter.
I am blessed.
Debbie - I live close to the airport, the train runs through our city and close to the highway. I wear earbuds and listen to music to block all of those noises out. When I am able to have a walk in the country I just listen to the sounds of nature too.
Very expensive crazy day! We went to our daughters so DH could change brakes on his vehicle, she has a garage so he wouldn’t be in the blaring sun doing it. On the way we ended up with a gash in a tire. We had to wait for a tow truck because come to find out it had an original spare, that wasn’t the same size as the tires on it.
Ended up buying 4 tires as the other three were needing changed as well.
Then had to buy a starter.
If it’s not one thing it’s another.
Did have a nice visit with daughter and her DH. Their backyard feels like going on vacation to me. I just love it.

Old makeup (more than 3 months old) or wearing makeup overnight are possible causes of styes.

Beaches ... in roughly the order from when I was little till now.
Some beach near San Jose.
Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
A beach just south of Vancouver.
Several beaches in Manitoba ... I can't get the map up just now to give them names.
Beaches all along the west coast of France.
A number of beaches in the UK.
Beaches along the Rhine.
Quite a few beaches up the west coast of the US and a few on the east coast.
A beach in Japan.
Beaches in Taiwan.
And a whole bunch of beaches in Australia, including, of course, the one less than 1 km from where I live.

Kylia “time to leave my frustrations in the living room and get some sleep.” Does that mean your DH is in the living room?
DC I have lived many places, but DC area is still home to me. My DH doesn't understand since he has never lived anywhere but Ohio (pretty much the same 30 mile radius) and I have now lived here since 87. But MD, VA, and DC are still home in my heart.
HeatherUK I want to feel that joy and delight.....I am better at it now than I have been the past few years. I do find delight in wildlife, cars, and flowers. I try to look for something to bring me joy and delight when the grey starts to take over.
Good Friday,
So I did get the "home" paperwork sorted, trashed and shredded, now to take care of the need to do part of it. Clutter I am lucky that my DH doesn't "clutter". His things go in specific spots at all times (even before he was blind). He likes his things out though which can drive me crazy. I have to declutter my stuff often especially paperwork. I prefer out of sight out of mind
Wednesday night was another all nighter. Work stuffs. Am still behind, but at least all the invoices are once again done. Registrations and warranties will get done this weekend. Needless to say I was in bed at 7 last night. I was great yesterday until about 3, then it was hard to stay awake. I have been enjoying "Outlander" while working.
Aubrey's cardiac cath went really well! Her left lung was only doing about 25% of the work. The doctors "blew out" the stent and her stats immediately improved. They saw a lot less of the PVS disease evidence which is a miracle! She doesn't go back to Boston for 3 years unless something changes! Thank you all for your prayers!
7. Do something healthy that makes you feel good. I ate really healthy and felt great most of day!
8. Find joy in music: sing, play, dance, listen or share. I sing along to the radio at work when I can.
Need to get ready for work!
Hugs!
Prayers!
Congratulations!
Welcomes!

Good morning ladies- I meant to post this yesterday.
Rosemarie - glad you went for the antibiotic! These animal bites can escalate quickly - funny this one took a long time, but you never know. This reminds me I need to get another tetanus shot, it has been well over ten years.
Allie - ouch - that's some bruise!. Did you ice your hand?
Good for you getting the cleaning done. As Rori said, according to Feng Shui, clutter saps our energy and I know that's right. And I'm like Katiebug - I save the cleaner for the deep down stuff I can't seem to get to like total house vacuuming, mopping, dusting. The daily stuff and even spot cleaning/mopping/toilets I can do. Collette gets a workout at my house. I know she has elderly clients where she also does laundry, fridge and freezer cleanout, cupboard organizing. I think it might have been more that they have someone coming in to check on them once a week than the actual work involved. She's a sweetie.
Ginny - I also love my early morning walks. When I was out at 5:30 this morning, I thought... I'm not really alone. I have the birds, the flowers, the morning sounds. As I've mentioned before, I'm out there with the "planning committee" in my head as well.
Kylia - great news on Aubrey!!
The auction house guy came yesterday. I'm going to go with them. He said the drums and musical instruments won't take a lot of time to research (an expense deducted from the proceeds) since DH had most of them labeled. I probably won't make a lot of money but I will have my space back and everything will be going to new homes one way or another.
Some surprise rain today. Doesn't look like much, enough to clear the air and settle the dust. There are fires burning in east county - not unusual. There probably won't be enough rain to put them out but everything helps.
Sending good thoughts to those of you on the east coast experiencing the heavy smoke.

What's fun for other people may not be fun for me and vice versa. I am not a fan of beaches but I love driving along the coast of the ocean. I have lived nearly all my life near the ocean (my dad was in the Coast Guard and I've lived near the ocean most of my adult life (Okinawa, NW California, NW Washington). When we traveled and enjoyed a town we would ask "What if we lived here? but unless it was near the ocean we didn't think we'd want to be there long.
One major result of the podcasts I listen to as I walk is to set a positive and joyous attitude for my day. It works.

Good morning, ladies.
Heather, I love your ballerina!
Saw on the news last night that President Biden is sending more firefighting help to Canada as requested from our Prime Minister. This smoke is having such a detrimental impact on so many. I read that it will soon reach Norway! Another hazy day so not planning on spending much time outside. Will be going to the garden to water my tomatoes and maybe pull a few weeds. Have it pretty much under control. Another hot day with temps reaching +31C. Glad we put in air conditioning a few years ago.
As for beaches, I have travelled quite a bit and have seen many. I think the nicest would be Bermuda....pink sand and turquoise water....absolutely stunning.
Enjoy your day, ladies.

Had fun.

I love the beaches of the Oregon Coast, and miss them. I haven’t seen a beach in Illinois since coming here. I’d like to see the great lakes. ⭐️0

Hopefully it all helps.

I grew up away from beaches (except for places like Sylvan Lake in Alberta) but always loved going to them.
I love walking on the sand in my bare feet, especially since I started developing arthritis in my feet.
I love wading into the water on a hot day and almost getting knocked over by waves.
I love the smell of ocean beaches.
I love the call of the birds.
Most of all, I live the sound of the waves.
But interestingly, one of the most common places we go in Tasmania for long weekends, when we can, is in the middle of the state almost as far away from beaches as we can get in Tasmania.
The lovely flattish, quiet country roads and lack of tourists appeals to us.
Plus we have several beaches close to home.

Good morning ladies!
Karen thanks, that puts a better spin on it. I lost 3.4 pounds last week, more than I expected, so I'm feeling better this morning.
Heather that is a lovely ballerina! You have managed to perfectly balance the smooth geometric curve with the human shape. And people are so hard to draw! Did you work from a photo?
Allie, wow, you have really traveled! And Machka, too, although no surprise there. Beaches are gorgeous but often crowded. The last time I went, it was so crowded that I could hear two radios playing different stations and it drove me crazy.
My last vacation plan was to a horse ranch in Tucson Arizona but then came Covid. I had to cancel. I love the hot sun and figured the pool would do for sunbathing. Now my parents need me, so it will be awhile before I travel again. But I could just get a lawn chair in the yard here. Hmm.
Have a great day everyone! You all are the best circle of friends ever!

Annie - Yes, I found a photo online. My last effort at a dancer was so bad I didn't post it and hid it away in a drawer! I was a bit perplexed as to what to do as a background, and decided to just leave it white. I now have a whole series of dancers.

Heather - Your ballerina is the best yet, you should be so proud of it...
Kylia - So pleased for Audrey's news.
Flea - So pleased for the news of stable from your CT!
Rebecca - So wonderful that your son got that well-deserved promotion, and I know you must be relieved not to be uprooted for the foreseeable future. His pride just beams through that smile on his face!
Betsy - Hope there was some peace in scattering your beloved husband's ashes in Colorado, and hope the trip with your sister continues to be a joy for you both.
Just catching up for June so far - had a bad reaction to a medication that I started the last week of May. Stopped taking it two days ago after discussing with the gastroenterologist's office. Some remaining dizziness, but better by far.
Regarding clutter, (raising my hand), the clutterbug here is me. My husband is both definitely NOT, to the point where I have to go search for my stuff on occasion. I'm pretty sure he closes his eyes when he walks through my crafts room/office space. I go into put-away mode on occasion, but not nearly as often as he wishes I would.
On the subject of beaches, just way too many to list, but the first was South Padre Island, Texas, in my early teens, and the last two were Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the Outer Banks, North Carolina, when we lived with our daughter for six months in Fayetteville in 2018. Five years since I've seen an ocean.
On location, my husband I live in a small town (population a bit over 1,000) in the River Valley of Arkansas, very near the Ozark National Forest, in the foothills of the Boston Mountains. We bought a 1950s-era stone house which we continue to renovate, sitting on 11 acres, five years ago now. It's the longest we've lived anywhere in our 14-year marriage, and we love it here. The other house inhabitant is our weird little cranky cat, Egg, who is at present hiding under the covers on my bed because the postman drove up to the house to deliver a package too big to fit in the mailbox. Not exactly a people lover.
On with my day,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Former hubby was in the Coast Guard when we got married. One of my favorite beaches was Daupin Island in Mobile,AL. So much fun seeing all the hermit crabs. I wanted to take a few home but he said it wasn't a good idea. It was the first time I had been in the ocean that was warm. Growing up in N.CA. The ocean is COLD even during the summer.(was the first time I felt warm rain too- that was a shock but I loved it)
Beaches I have been to-grew up going to the beaches from Goat Rock to Fort Bragg in CA on the Pacific ocean.
Local beaches along the rivers-spent a lot of time each summer. Haven't been in a while except for on my walks around the wetlands that goes by the Napa River. On low tides I walk down the beach.
The beaches all around Oahu,Hawaii- dh's cousin lived there and showed us the great and not crowded beaches
Ensenda, Mexico,
Seattle and north of there
Virginia(former hubby had Coast Guard school back there)
AK (his ship was up there so I flew up for two weeks)1 -
Love hearing about all the beaches you all have visited! I would love to see the beaches along the Pacific Coast and the New England coast. May never get there but love the photographs/movies I have seen on line!
Michele ~ I wonder if the styes you are experiencing could be related to the sun screen burning your eyes.
Allie ~ That's a nasty bruise on your thumb.

we have some great unsweetened coconut that I use in a few of the candies- It really is good. I add almonds to some and some I don't-Mounds and Almond Joy fudge.
Nice to have something just enough so you enjoy it but not feel guilty about eating it.
I didn't used to like coconut but now I do but just the unsweetened one or fresh
I do good not eating much of what I make, most of the time. My downfall is the peanut butter fudge or peanut butter cups. I will make some things to send to former hubby for his birthday and either give the rest away or freeze it, just need to not have it in the kitchen.1
