Up at 4:30am, we were going to take the kids out for their walk at 5am but the weather forecast has changed a bit so we’ll go out at 6 instead. It will be 65 at 5, 64 at 6 67 at 7 and 72 at 8. So if we leave at 6 we should get home by 8.4

My social meet up went very well. About 13 of us turned up. It was fun to chat. I had halloumi and hummus with roasted veg for lunch. Everyone else had cake!
Now planning our trip to London tomorrow. Can't decide whether to cut it fine, or allow loads of time.
Off now for a nap. I was awake at 4.40. this morning.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Katla - Hope the turbulent weather in Illinois didn't affect you or your husband and family... We had the southernmost tip of that weather system finish up with us just a few minutes ago--I woke up to rumbling thunder, and Egg came in shortly after complaining and wet.
Heather - I can see how that would be triggering, yes--when I lived there, I had the same feelings about Jimmy Saville, but of course, all that didn't go public until he was dead. I couldn't stand watching him on the telly, and never really knew why. Those instincts go deep. Glad your meeting was enjoyable...
Annie - Love seeing your challenge progress, well done!
Had to get my good laptop out this morning. Unfortunately, the older one that I use most of the time has hung at 98% of an update. Because I use cloud storage and have the browsers linked, I haven't lost anything, I'm just trying to figure out if the older one is salvageable. I got a great deal on this one more than five years ago, and used it in the office while I used the older one in the living room. I had forgotten how fast this one is. Whee! Fun. Unfortunately, now it wants to start an update, and I'm a little worried about it. Hope it doesn't crash this one, too.
Working on a new bread recipe, very simple, just flour, yeast, salt and warm water. Long rise time (8 hours) and then baked in a dutch oven. I have my doubts, but have lost very little if it doesn't work. Corey's dinner request is pizza, so I'll pull some ground beef out to thaw the next time I go in the kitchen, and a packet of pepperoni/salami. We buy in bulk and then freeze in amounts to make pizza. Works out well.
Off to the races, kids. Fingers crossed this one survives the update. It should - it's on Windows 11.

Morning ladies
Heather- congratulations to Max,you must be so very proud
Tracy gets a update from Josie the daycare lady let Tracy know that Miles chowed down a whole chocolate chip pancake and was working on the sausage
So I think he is starting to get comfortable there ...thank goodness..
Well I had a bit of cottage cheese and some toast and took my pills and thats all I can have as I will be going down to the hospital today for the stress test. Yuk.6 -
Allie - hope the test is easy and the results are good. Thinking about you, dear heart.
Well, this laptop made it through the updates, and the other is still hung. Fortunate that I had a backup. Now I'll have to keep an eye out for another backup! A first world statement if there ever was. Might wait until the Black Friday sales in November.
Time to go rustle up some breakfast.

1. Take a small step to help overcome a problem or worry. I am working on helping my son through this tough time by being in contact with his case worker and tracking his location.
2. Adopt a growth mindset. Change “I can’t” into “I can’t…yet”. I try to never use those words. I follow Yoda’s ‘Do or not, there is no try”
3. Be willing to ask for help when you need it. I will. My back hurts today so will easily ask for help when I need it.
4. Find something to look forward to today. Missed posting this yesterday. So today I am looking forward to my therapy session.
5. Get the basics right: eat well, exercise and go to bed on time. Will do!
6. Pause, breathe, and feel your feet firmly on the ground. Will meditate today to help me do this.
7. Shift your mood by doing something you really enjoy. I really need to do this today. Did not do this. Had a bad day all around yesterday.
8. Avoid saying “must” or “should” to yourself today. I will try.
9. Put a problem in perspective by seeing the bigger picture. Trying to see my son’s decisions through his eyes.
11. Look for something positive in a difficult situation. My son is bonding with his uncle and grandmother.
12. Write you worries down and save them for a specific “worry time”. I will try to remember to do this. Write them in my journal.
13. Challenge negative thoughts. Find an alternative interpretation.
14. Get outside and move to help clear your head.
15. Set yourself an achievable goal and take the first step.
16. Find fun ways to distract yourself from unhelpful thoughts.
17. Use one of your strengths to overcome a challenge today.
18. Let go of the small stuff and focus on the things that matter.
19. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
20. When things go wrong, pause and be kind to yourself.
21. Identify what helped you get through a tough time in your life.
22. Find 3 things you feel hopeful about and write them down.
23. Remember that all feelings and situations pass in time.
24. Choose to see something good about what has gone wrong.
25. Notice when you are being judge mental and be kind instead.
26. Catch yourself over-reacting and take a deep breath.
27. Write down 3 things you are grateful for (even if today was hard).
28. Think about what you can learn about a recent problem.
29. Be a realistic optimist. Focus on what could go right.,
30. Reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague for support.
31. Remember we all struggle at times. It’s part of being human.
1 part done...they pumped me full of glow juice and it makes your blood vessels expand so its like your short of breath, nauseous lightheaded but only for a couple minutes, now I wait for 1/2 hr and go for a cat scan.5

I had a good time horseback riding today. It was a relaxed lesson due to the heat, but now I am all sweaty. Sometimes I eat ice cream afterwards, but I am close to the end of my sister challenge, so I am up in my room resisting. What I really need is water, right?
I planned on soup tonight for my parents, but I might change it to tuna salad sandwiches. Much cooler. I already had my usual mango smoothie and boiled chicken. I have had plenty to eat today.

Oh well saved the best gor last.. can't say it wasn't an adventure
So after they made my heart race ,they sit me for 1/2 hr, then do a ct scan of the heart no problem ,then sit again for another 1/2 hr and here is where the fun begins
Sits me in another room and walks in with this little canister thing with radioactive stuff he is going to shoot in my arm so the can get more images of the heart.
So after he does that he takes the catheter out of my arm slaps some gauze and tape on it
Well by the time I got back to the waiting room there was blood running down my arm onto the floor all over my water bottle and into the small purse I brought
.Hello Elequis.he took me back to another spare room and we started cleaning up poor guy felt horrible ,i was just chuckling ,what can ya do ,I chucked the purse it was a mess ,i think i got it at goodwill anyway many years ago.
But good thing is since it is a teaching and research hospital..they asked if i wanted to participate in some research and they just wanted a few more of the ct scan pictures they were taking anyway,I said sure thing and they are sending me 100.00 bank of America visa to boot for participating. Im home and in my jammies today wore me out.
Finally getting into the swing of things ,chowed down breakfast and had cut up hot dogs and blueberries for lunch, mommy got himbout for a car ride10 -

Well I bit the bullet and ran today. Did 5 miles and very surprised that I did a 10 minute mile. Seriously didn’t want to run when we were walking to the gym.4 -
Allie glad that's over!
I slipped a little at dinner. Normally my parents' dinner is after my eating window. I somehow convinced myself that I should serve the kiwi I bought so it wouldn't go bad. So then I ate a bit, which wasn't too bad. But then I had a bite of the peach pie. So not too many extra calories. But once again I am sacrificing my goal to eat something I don't need to eat. I should do some extra bike tonight. And I need to stop eating extra or I will be disappointed at weigh-in.

Allie, sounds like you had quite the adventure! Well done on the yes to the study and scoring the $100 Visa!
Annie, don't beat yourself up over some fresh fruit and a bit of pie! You've been doing very well!
Beth, sure hope you get some answers a out your son's migraines! That whole seizure thing sounded pretty terrifying 😳
With the grands again today, two playgrounds and Walmart! The second playground was quite nice, it's at the local rec centre and well away from traffic so that made it much more pleasant. At their house now, their dad should be home shortly, then I get to go home and figure out something for dinner. I'm really getting tired of all of this adulting stuff.... sigh.
Hugs for those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to any new gals!

Annie We all have minor bumps in the road. Sounds like you learned something and can just keep putting one foot in front of the other
Allie. Those medical tests can be a challenge. Glad you got through them ok and got a reward besides

Heather: Congratulations to Max! It is exciting!
Allie: Glad yo got through the tests! Miles continues to be as good looking and cute as ever! I am glad he is adjusting to day care!
Katla: I am pleased your husband is able to do physical therapy and is getting stronger.
I haven't taken notes, but have been reading along!
Today I went out to breakfast with a friend and another lady sat down and joined us. As we were leaving I couldn't find my keys. My friend had to drive me home to get the back up key to the car. Thankfully I had an extra house key in my pocketbook!
I tried going to a hardware store to get a copy of the key. No luck. I went to the dealer's and paid 280.00 dollars for a key.
Then I receive a call from my gym. The other lady that was with us didn't know how to reach me but the badge for the gym was on the key ring. She had put my keys in her pocket by mistake.
The gym took the keys from her and I will go by there tomorrow to pick them up. This certainly changed my plans for today! But at least the mystery of the missing keys was resolved!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Good evening ladies!
Allie - what a day, lady! Glad it's over, sorry to hear about the "leak". So nice you'll have a chance to participate in the study and $100 always comes in handy. Nice that Miles seems to be adjusting to daycare and its all working out well.
Rebecca - Athena's haircut is adorable. Boy it seems like she grew up fast. Your soup looked great! Sorry to see that leak in the kitchen, the landlord might be facing a huge repair job if it's not tended to quickly. How are your sisters doing? Communicating again?
Lisa - glad the computer update was OK on your other computer. I'm still on Windows 10 and so far it hasn't seemed to mess anything up on my laptop but I'm always apprehensive. Every now and then McAfee does a "clean up your cookies" task and it takes me a long time to rebuild things. Luckily I have everything saved as bookmarks - there was a time I wasn't that smart.
Heather - good job Max! What an accomplishment. It's been so much fun seeing him and the girls grow up in this group.
Car update - I took the Subaru in yesterday at 8:30, the service tech said it would take a couple hours to go through it. So I figured it would be done after lunch. I waited and waited for the phone to ring, it never did and finally called at 4:50 (shame on me for waiting so long) and left a message. I wanted to know the status. I called back at 4:59 and the phone had already switched over to "we are closed for the day, leave a message." Boy, did I, lol.
So I called at around 8:15 this morning, got the service tech and asked him what was up around there. He apologized half a dozen times, said the car was ready to go, it was in good shape except for that small head gasket leak which I knew about, and they will keep track of and sent the shuttle car right out to pick me up. I'm supposed to drive it for 100 miles then take it back in, they'll check for any new leakage and put in a new water pump, timing belt and a couple other belts. I'm feeling pretty good about it.
Drums going to auction: When I got home from the car shop, I got busy in the shop sorting and cleaning up the drums and equipment the auction house guys will pick up tomorrow. It went really well except I'm allergic to dust so paying the price right now. Once the drums and guitars are out of the office part I can keep that room dusted and vacuumed. Hopefully it will be my "exercise room" this fall and winter.
Romance: I messaged my BFF this morning and asked her if she knew how our running/hiking friend met Mr. Right. She said she thought it was on an internet hiking group. OK, that makes sense and was a good idea.
Then BFF said she knows a guy she thinks I'd like. He's super nice, older than me (nearly 80!) has great kids, and has Parkinsons. I joked around with her about it and then it struck me - I am perfectly content right now being alone and being 100% in charge of my space and time. No one knocking on the door to "visit" or me to hop in a car for a meal. No one calling me on the phone and expecting me to chit chat when I really want to be out with the chickens, lol. The fact that Bill has Parkinson's isn't an issue, it's having control as I mentioned. I don't even think I'd make an exception for a young Sean Connery, lol. OK he can get a hug on the porch then scram.
Besides, I've got it made. Roger is a phone call away to help with the chicken coop and weed my driveway. John on the west side of me trims the trees hanging on my side so I can mow then tosses the branches onto his side so his yard guy can pick them up. JB on the east side calls me every couple weeks when he's making a run to the filling station for gas and asks if I need any.
BFF's husband brings me firewood. Who can ask for more, at least right now? I might change my mind in the future. Roger's wife brought me a cute sign to hang by the chicken coop, she said they went shopping in Poulsbo and had to get it for me:
That sums it up.
Hot weather coming the next few days. I've been watching "Alone" on Roku TV History Channel. Watching these folks freezing their buns off in the Arctic makes me feel cooler already.
Have a great evening!

Rebecca-little Miss Athena does look grown up! Her hair cut is great-isn't it similar to your recent cut?
Tracey-very cute bank!
Heather-I don't pay a lot of attention to news as of late but I looked up your commentator. In the US, some days it seems the list would be short of who is not guilty of such things. Sorry it brought back memories for you-but they can't hurt you.
Terri-I must agree with you-any day this side of dirt is good!
Allie-you did turn the ordinary into a bit of an adventure! Nice about the $100. Hope all comes out well.
Pip-congrats on the run. I think we can just get tired of some things and need a break-and it's not like you are a couch potato!
Rosemarie-glad the key turned up. Too bad you are out of the $280, but I would rather be out that and have key returned for my peace of mind.
Annie-your overall calorie count for the week is at a level to lose weight. You are doing a great job.
Went to independent living facility with DIL. I still really like it. I wish I weren't so torn over when to retire. Giving thought to maybe moving and commuting back here part of the week-it's less that an hour drive. So much to think about!.
Woke ups this am late (for me)-5:30. Didn't get walk, etc., in-felt achy and tired. After I got home I realized I missed my walk so went out and got a bit over 2 miles in so I hit activity, move and step goals for the day. Work from home tomorrow after I start my day with a mammogram! Now off to bed.
Take care all,

Went to the ceramics studio yesterday. This was the last day it was open and Vince needed to pick up his tree trunk. I was pessimistic that the city would ever reopen it, but it seems that 3 people have applied so hopefully, it’ll be open by November. Michelle (who ran it) is thinking more like the end of October. As long as it’s open, to me that’s what’s important. She was crying all week. Don’t know how she’s going to like working from home. She’s so much of a “people” person.
Getting ready for the pool party. Steve came here. He was originally supposed to be here tomorrow but he came early (was he maybe lonely????). Got rib eye (since I know Steve likes it) for dinner tomorrow but I’ll probably just have a vege burger.
Found out that Jerry did say that he didn’t have a phone. Seems his sister (who is his payee) didn’t pay the phone bill. I don’t know why. People say that she uses his money for herself. I don’t know
Tracey – lovely shirts. A friend had one that said “only special dads get promoted to grandpa” Love that Michaela is so creative. I don’t know if I could do as well as she does
Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t look all that great for Saturday. Evening thunderstorms with a 48% chance of rain. Hope the PM thunderstorms means late in the PM
Heather – congrats to Max!
Rebecca – Athena looks so grown up
Found out that the lady is charge of the volunteers at the soup kitchen is retiring at the end of July. They’ve asked to bring any gifts. I got her a candle set at Sam’s (so I could use my Sam’s cash and it was basically free), got a card at the dollar store, now have to get wrapping paper
Allie – good luck on your test. Congrats on getting the $100
Rosemarie – so glad you found your keys
Was raining so didn’t get my walk in. I was thinking about walking down to Dollar General, but I heard the thunder and didn’t want to chance it. Glad I didn’t because when I got home, it started to really rain.

Good evening ladies!
Rosemarie glad you got your keys back!
Today I ate 1222 calories. I rode horseback, did twenty five minutes on the bike, and did my dumbbells. Yay! So my deficit is 445. Yay!
Weigh-in is tomorrow!

I haven’t been on for a few days so I’ll have to get reading this weekend. So tired these days. I’m so glad tomorrow is Friday. Work is picking up with prep for staff to return and then the students. Lots of planning, schedules, interviews/hiring. Mentally tired and I’ve only been back from vacation for 8 days! 🤣 Next Tuesday I have my physical and get my labs done and hoping my
Lipids are better and my HgbA1C remains stable. Since I was seen on 3/1 my lipids were elevated mildly and my HgbA1C was good but I had been gaining weight and eating poorly. Since 3/1 I’ve lost 30.8# and while I’m not depriving myself of the foods I like, my portion control is much better, and I eat better in general. I’ve been walking in spite of my hip bursitis which gets better then worse. So hoping my work pays off and my provider is happy. My next weight loss goal is 24.2# away and I’m going to keep aiming for 8000 steps per day. I’ve done well with getting 7000 steps
a day most days so I’ll take it up a notch.
happy Friday to all of you.

Heather - I’m sorry the news is upsetting and brings up bad memories. I think our instincts protect us a lot.
Lisa - I hope the new laptop updated successfully.
I hadn’t thought about freezing in portion sizes for pizza. That’s a great idea.
Some places here in Canada are having Black Friday in July sales. Might be worth looking at.
Allie - it’s great Miles is settling in, it will make it easier on Tracy. That sure sounds like an adventure, at least they made it worth your while.
Michaela went home today, it was nice to have some time with Rodger alone, but it sure was quiet.
I’ve decided to making matching shirts for our girls sleepover Saturday night. When I get them made I’ll post a picture. I am getting my inspiration from Pinterest.
Tomorrow I am getting the car fixed at 9. After that I’m going to the ceramics shop to fix the tile frames we’ve been working on.

Up to London today.
I rang the restaurant yesterday to tell them we didn't need 5 places, only 4. The phone was busy, so I left a voice message. They rang me back to say they had no record of my booking.!!!!!!!!!!
All was well as they managed to fit us in anyway. Oouufff! I've now got an email confirmation.
We have decided to catch the later train, though I am a bit worried about it. If all goes well, it will be fine, but .......
Maybe we'll change our minds. I hate hanging about though
Once upon a time, a trip to London was routine and easy. Now it all seems such a bother. I worry unnecessarily, and I find it harder having DH with me, who travels by train very rarely and doesn't like it.
I'm sure it will all be great when we get there!

LeeAnne you are making great progress! Good job, you are proving to yourself and the world that you can do this! Yay!
I had a weird dream so I am awake at dawn.. I will try to sleep some more now.

Good morning dear friends. Our weather has reverted to our normal summer, showery periods with hot sunny periods in between. The rain is what make Ireland the Emerald Isle 😝
Heather: Enjoy your trip to the big city.
Rebecca: Athena looks very grown up.
Annie: A kiwi and a bite of pie won’t derail your efforts. You have been doing grand. 🥰 🐎
Lisa: Updates are the pits. They always seem to change things you don’t want changed.
Allie: Yay! for $100. Hope the scan results are good. Miles is adapting well if he’s chowing down 😝
I’m settled into my summer routine. Getting my exercise in early and dodging the showers to work in the garden. Fortunately, I have plenty to keep me busy indoors.
The Hogwarts Relay is going well. I’m eating some unusual things. So far we have visited (virtually) Burkina Faso. Brazil, France, Bulgaria, India, Japan, China. We have Norway and USA still to visit.
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏 🙏 🙏
Welcome to our new ladies.

Heather have a great time in London! I wish I had friends like you do, and Allie, and others. Enjoy them!
I put on my schedule to renew my car registration today. But I'd rather not. We shall see if I do the adult thing or pass.
