Tonight was a sort of hybrid intervals "superset?" I'd never heard of it.
I have been trying to log my foods. I like doing it, it always helps, and it always feels a bit persnickety. I am going to go ahead and keep doing it for now.

- Aug 2 - 3.85 miles

Morning all
Ran 5 this morning (09"06).
@Teresa502 ha! Swimming with sharks ✅, creepy crawlies and wild animals in the jungle ✅ ... Driving into tornadoes - nah! Probably not. Not now in my 40s anyway lol
@chris_in_cal enjoy your wine tasting weekend.
Btw. Anyone seen that movie Sideways?! Great great movie6 -
Nice run @tarun_yadavA. Yes I saw the Sideways movie about 20 years ago. Don't remember much about it. Might have to re-watch it.
Speed intervals this morning. 88F feels like 96F at 4am. Unreal.
1mi WU, then 4x1min speed w/1min recovery. Then 7x3.5min speed w/3.5min recovery, then 1mi CD. That was a tough one. Seems like every time a speed interval hit, I was starting on an uphill 😫
All that ended up being 8.3 miles.

I was supposed to meet at friend at 5:00 am for a run but it's been raining and storming since I woke at 4:00 am so I'm taking today as a rest day. Headed out in the morning for a hiking/camping trip. We want to cover at least 18 miles tomorrow so a rest day today will be good.
I really don't know how you Texans are getting outdoors and running in those temperatures. You're willpower and strength is amazing!8 -
You're doing great @yirara !
Oh no @knotmel . Sorry to hear this. I hope taking the extra time off will allow it to completely heal.
Great TM running @Scott6255 ! Awesome run this morning in that heat. Yes, if I try to do speed intervals outdoors, the speed always ends up on the hills and it becomes more of a hill repeat session. LOL
You're doing great @chris_in_cal !
Great run @tarun_yadavA . I have not seen that movie.
Enjoy your hike @Teresa502. Hopefully all of this rain hasn't toppled too many trees in your path and the streams won't be flooded, if you have to cross them.4 -
@Teresa502 have a great hiking trip!
@Scott6255 great movie... @chris_in_cal mentioned wine weekend - so my thoughts immediately went to that movie Sideways. Those two guys each with their car crash lives 🫣😂
@quilteryoyo - worth a watch!4 -

I define it as peaceful. It is something I have complete control over and gives me a sense of order in the world of chaos.

Fact! Why is that?
"Sideways" was a kind of local movie, it was shot in and around where I attended Uni, around Paso Robles. I'll drink wine, and often enjoy it, but it's not my go to...two or three times a year is my average.
I'll be flying up to Sonoma County this weekend (next door to the more famous Napa County.) up above San Francisco.7 -
August Goal: 125 Miles
8/1: 6.26 miles
8/2: 5.57 miles
8/3: 5.12 miles
8/6: 11.26 miles
8/8: 6.26 miles
8/9: 6.02 miles
8/10: 6.04 miles
46.53/125 miles completed for August
This morning when I left for my run at 5:45 it was 78°F feels like 82°, and when I got home an hour later, it was 77°F feels like 77°. Normally I wouldn't think that was cool, but after a couple of days of feels like 93° before dawn, it was nice. And it wasn't windy either. I ran the same 6 mile run today as I ran yesterday, but today it was actually a pretty pleasant run. I got out too late to hit the sprinklers at the courthouse, but I was able to hit the residential sprinkler that I have been hitting lately. The woman was coming out with her coffee right as I got there so I spoke to her and thanked her for letting me cool off. She was really nice and said "anytime". The only real downside to the run this morning was the grasshoppers. There have been tons of grasshoppers lately and today they kept hitting me and I stepped on a few which was really gross. There were several crickets too, but mostly grasshoppers.

Ummm, yikes!!! Glad you were able to escape!0 -
@kgirlhart I really dislike grasshoppers. They are so big and jump in unpredictable ways. It feels like they are attacking. Always scare the scrap out of me!
@Scott6255 I feel for your brother. It seems like when storms like that roll through and cause a bunch of damage the construction crews get booked up so fast and it takes forever to get work done. I hope he has better luck than my neighbors. We still have houses on my street with tarps from fallen trees during that crazy storm we had last month!3 -
Aug total: 31.9/100 miles
8/1: 5.6 miles
8/2: 3.3 miles
8/5: 10 miles
8/7: 7 miles
8/10: 6 miles
This one was rough. The weather is the same. Hot, humid, gross. But today I threw legs that felt like absolute lead into the mix. I went to Pilates for the first time in about 6 weeks last night and it was such a hard workout! Though the DOMS has not set it in yet, my muscles are very fatigued and it was noticeable from the beginning of my run. Not to mention, despite eating my usual pre-run bar, my stomach was growling by the time I started running. So, I am hungry and my legs are tired and the weather sucks. There was very little to like about this run except that I got it done. Hopefully my legs will feel little bit better tomorrow. I made sure to take in some extra protein with a recovery shake this morning and do a little foam rolling before I came to work. Hopefully that will let them recover a little bit more today. Now I just have to make sure I get back to Pilates regularly for the next few weeks to build those muscles back up. It usually takes a few workouts before the soreness is not too bad.6 -
I’m training for a half-marathon in September and this is perfect to keep me motivated for this month. I’m doing 3 miles a day so far (walking, running, treadmill or outdoors depending on my mood) with a long run on the weekend so seeing all of you post your runs will give me a competitive boost 😁😁 today, I ran 3.5 miles this morning and the plan is to walk/run 1 mile on the treadmill in the evening (or more, if I find a good episode of Law and Order). Cheers!8

@nevermore6617 There's always Law and Order on somewhere! What race are you doing?0

I did a 2 mile driveway walk this afternoon. It was 77F (25C) and partly cloudy. But, it was 83% humidity, so I was still a pretty sweaty mess when I finished. AVG HR was 126 with a max of 143 bpm. I decided not to run because I am going to do my best to get up in the morning and get my run in early....hopefully 4 or 5 miles. We'll see.6 -
You are awesome @AlphaHowls ! I missed the "rabid racoon" until I saw @Teresa502 's comment. I'm glad you were speedy enough to outrun it.
@kgirlhart You are doing great with the runs this month. So many over 7 miles. Glad your run today was cooler. I'm glad the lady is happy for you to cool down in her sprinkler. The grasshoppers sound sort of apocalyptical.
@martaindale That sounds like a really tough run. Congrats on getting it done!
@nevermore6617 Welcome to this group. Sounds like you have a great plan for your HM.

@knotmel - take care of that achilles, they can be so hard to rehab. You might try a wrap with KT Tape or something similar for extra support when you do feel it might be ready. I found it helpful when I injured mine a while back. They're all kinds of videos on the KT site or on YouTube. This is one specific to achilles tendonitis
@AlphaHowls - so glad you got away from the rabid Rocky raccoon!
Well I am finally on the board for August with all of 1.68 miles! I felt good this morning so got out for our first walk since starting treatment on Monday. Cool low 70's and overcast with a chance of light rain.No haters please, we are going back to the heat next week. It did feel lovely just to be up and out!
I am continuing to live vicariously through all y'alls runs!8
